002the roll if I may uh Mrs Abreu here Mr capano here Mrs Fredo Mr Garcia Mr Drew Dr pontelyano here Mr Russo here Mr Shelley I don't see Mr terabakia here Mr yanuzzi I don't okay Mr Roman Gina I'm very good Mr thank you uh just want to welcome everyone to our board meeting tonight uh just a few items I would like to discuss uh from my report before we look at the consent agenda I just want to make mention that we are in the process at this time uh of going through a re-registration as we did last year with multiple grade levels uh this year we started just recently a re-registration for students in grades 3 6 and 10. and we will be going through that process uh from now until the spring so
003parents will be receiving notification from uh their child's school regarding um documentation they must bring to the school to show proof of uh residency in Cliffside Park so again we're going to be going through a um I'm sorry a re-registration of grades two five and nine I meant to say last year we did grades three six and ten now we are currently doing grades two five and nine ninth grade would only be Cliffside Park residents for ninth grade I want to mention that uh we're going to have a district-wide parent night it's going to be held at our Middle School I have a copy of the flyer in your packet tonight uh the it's going to be a district-wide parent night the topic will be Mental Health Resources for families and is it we're inviting
004all parents grades K to 12. and that will be held on May I'm sorry February 15th 6 p.m at the middle school cafeteria and our principal Mr reinfest is organizing uh that parent night but uh we'll be getting information out to parents but again it's a district-wide meeting so uh all parents whether you have a child in kindergarten second grade ninth grade are welcome to attend that meeting I can add that to the flyer and we do have a um information on our website regarding Wellness but we can add that to the flyer uh while Mr tarabakia asked for that phone number it does um one thing I do want to mention is that um during covid and uh after covet mental health as you know and mental Wellness has been a a key topic
005we've received funding from the state of New Jersey and the federal government so we do have many soil resources in place for our parents or students who might be struggling so if we do have parents out there who would like information I encourage them to call our building principals and they can direct you to the uh right person whether it be our school counselors whether it be local agencies that we deal with but uh there are a lot of resources that are available to both our students parents and our staff members so that that is uh important to mention uh as you know each year we do testing for the New Jersey student learning Assessments in your packet tonight and post it to our website is the calendar for May 2023 testing uh it's on
006our website under calendars yes parents and calendars so parents can go to our website tomorrow morning and they will get a um a calendar as to when their children uh grades three and up might be testing and what days of the week and so on and so forth so that's a calendar that's posted to our website and uh it's prop most most most of it right now is just information as far as dates are concerned I do want to make mention that uh as we do or we try to do monthly or every other month we will have a staffing service on February 7th in fact one of the topics that we're going to be providing our staff with is mental Wellness we have somebody that works for Care Plus who being a work we're
007doing a workshop for our staff members in the middle school and the high school and we'll also be doing some curriculum work on February 7th so it will be a half day session for our students a letter will be going out to parents a full day for our staff members and I will share the agenda as I always do with our board once we have an agenda in place I want to mention also that on our website I encourage our parents to go to uh the left side of our website where we have videos posted that our high school CPTV does on a monthly basis and also our Middle School CP TV does I know I share those videos with our board members and I want to commend our staff members Who oversee that program
008and also our students who really do a good job putting that program together so if you go to our website you can see the newest addition and also past editions of CPTV for the high school at for the Middle School I also want to make mention that we're in the process of organizing our Pre-K and kindergarten registration for September that would be Pre-K students for September who turned four by October 1st and only new kindergarten students to the district so if there are parents out there who have a child who has not attended Cliffside yet but will turn five before October 1st we will be registering uh at the end of March a fly will be going out posted to our website information will go out on social media as far as how to register
009but though that's in the planning stage right now um any questions from the board any committee any committee reports from board from the board building his grounds anything that needs to be mentioned we're good okay very good so at this time um I'd like to look at the consent agenda uh page two at the top as always uh we are approving uh reimbursement for staff members who are taking part in workshops some of them are virtual some of them are now in person so we're approving travel expense and registration fees uh we're also approving a maternity leave for Christy pampinto high school math teacher a little further down Josephine Vella who's a district supervisor we're revising her maternity dates from uh January a return date of January 3rd will now be a return date of
010February 22nd right after the winter break uh Vicki bucko who's been on a maternity child wearing leave notified me last month that she's requesting that her leave extend through June 30th with the return date of September 1st 2023 and Paula Alves who was our elementary or one of our elementary World language teachers has requested a change in heart return date from February 1st with a return date now of March 6th uh top of Page Three uh Tali manukian who's a high school ESL teacher is requesting an unpaid medical leave uh from February 3rd through May 31st with a return anticipated return date of June 2023 Christina Carbone who's a speech therapist with the district is currently on a maternity leave we're revising her return date from February 6th to a return date of April 1st
011although I have notified our board and our staff uh we are we do have a resolution uh that I will be retiring uh effective June 30th 2023 and let's see if we skip over to page four uh about halfway down the page Derek Nelson who's our high school band director music teacher uh we're approving a co-curricular position that was previously left off as high school choral director at the negotiated contract uh stipend of forty four hundred dollars the very bottom of the page as we do each year we have some volunteers who are volunteering uh in our sports program these are people who are volunteering for spring 2023 Sports uh softball Boys Tennis softball softball Middle School softball so these majority of these people have been with us before and uh as per our guidelines
012they have been fingerprinted and gone through all of the vetting processes page five uh we are confirming about the fourth one down two bullying incidents uh that we're investigating we're also approving um The Bullying uh HIV reporting and training report that uh you have a copy of this in your folder uh of the incidents uh it's a summary of the incidents that have taken place we're mandated by the state as you know to report this each January which we're doing now and each July which we do uh twice a year if you look through the report I think again we've always been very fortunate in Cliffside as to violence and vandalism we do have our cases that we have to deal with but if you read through the report uh you can see that the
013incidents are very minimal uh so I think as far as that's concerned our Administration the administration teachers all play a part in uh making these incidents as minimal as possible so that report is being approved by the board tonight and sent off to the state uh we're also approving the stock strong uh results that were uh this test was administered in September last week I had given you a copy of the printout as I had mentioned before uh you know our test scores um have shown have shown some improvement uh we still have a ways to go as far as getting this test scores to be where they they should be as most districts during covid uh we experienced a two-year period when students really were lacking in terms of uh the instruction that we
014were able to provide because the majority of it was remote or we were in and out due to quarantining but um I think now we are back on track and uh this year's spring results the New Jersey student learning assessment I think we're going to see uh dramatic Improvement in ela and in mathematics and our staff has been very working very hard to prepare our students for these upcoming tests and that's exactly what that calendar reflects in terms of testing dates we're approving uh policies from the state that have been updated uh so some are policies some are regulations and then Mr alfano do you have any uh finance a couple of items you know um in regard to the committee report I'll just give you a quick update on moving forward with with the
015Department of Education and our architect and engineering firms in regard to potential open bid projects which place sometime in March potential gym Lobby renovation replacement of our rooftop units it's exclusive masonry work at six school and stair Tower security doors replacement number three number four number six School we're also engaging in our 23-24 budget the the software has opened up so we will start engaging software in regard to implementing all our payroll all our expenses all our revenues and hopefully at the next work session we can give the board an idea of where we are in regards to balancing our budget and we'll also have a high level analysis showing the key data points over the last three years that will present to the board at our February 15th work session that's pretty much it
