002the daytime in place they are posted in the offices of the borough clerk or a library for erector pump the office of the board of ed the office of school number three four five six in the high school on august 30th 2021 and notices were 42 reporters of the record august 30th 2021 this is an official meeting i'd like to take the role if i may mr roman gina mrs abreu here mr capano mrs fredo here mr garcia dr pantaliano here mr raincourt here mr russo mr shelley here i'm starbuck yeah mr yanozzi okay mr roman gina okay mr founder thank you very much i want to welcome uh our community members who might be viewing the meeting through our stream just a couple of items i have before we look at the consent agenda
003just want to make mention and i want to thank our staff and our administration for a successful opening of school all of our students k through 12 returned on september 9th our pre-k students started that monday and so far with all of our students back this year i have to say things are going very very well i know we're still going to be struggling with covet as it's still around we have a mandate by the governor where all school employees and all students are wearing masks during the day except for physical activities or during lunch so we are and i and i assure our parents that we are taking every precaution possible to uh provide for the safety of our students and our staff but this is the first time probably in a year and
004a half where we have a full program all of our students are back in the classroom and things are going very very well and that's really um a tribute to our staff and our administration who are making sure that things are running smoothly this month we are running parent visitation evenings in all of our buildings uh for the safety of our staff we are limited to limiting it to one parent uh per child uh no students in the building so far we've had parent visitation evenings at school three school six and um the high school and i have to say that the turnout was exceptional uh everybody adhered to all the safety protocols as far as weary mass are concerned and um our turnout was not as big as let's say two years ago but
005considering covert and what's gone on we did have a good number of parents that turned out and that night as always the teachers provided them with an overview of what goes on in the classroom what the expectations are for students and so on and so forth and i just always want to emphasize with parents that uh this is one night during the year but at any time during the year if you're concerned about how you stood how your child is doing uh we have guidance counselors principals uh please call them setting up an appointment to either meet with our teachers uh uh in person or virtually or by a phone call to make sure that uh students are keeping up academically athletic wise all our sports are in progress uh girls volleyball uh football which
006is a cooperative effort this year between richfield and palsy and cliffside park and that's running very very well we're very happy with that cross country is also um working out very well so again we're battling the possibility of uh covid but so far our coaches have done a good job in terms of emphasizing with students safety and uh being careful if they're not feeling well coming to a practice or coming to a game and uh so far so good as far as our four sports are concerned i just want to remind our parents that if there is a cliffside park app that's um pretty active in terms of sending out notifications to parents you can download that app by going to the apple store or the google play store we also have instagram accounts we
007have a district account that you can follow as well as some of the schools have accounts i know the middle school account has been very active mr pinto also at the high school has an instagram account which also uh allows you to see some of the events that are going on uh information that goes out to uh to the parents so with social media as it is today uh it's important to keep up with a lot of those different things again i want to do mention that on our website because i know parents have asked questions um regarding safety measures what happens if a child is positive we do have opening guidelines posted to our website but i do want to emphasize as we have in the past we follow the guidelines or the direction
008of our local health official as well as the new jersey uh health department so if a child was positive with covid uh we look to our local health official as far as who has to be quarantined uh for how long and so on and so forth and um if anybody has any questions regarding that uh they're welcome to call their school principal or school nurse who uh would answer any questions they may have but there is an outline on our website regarding our guidelines and what protocols we do follow tonight the board of education is going to approve um a vaccination policy for all staff this is a result of a mandate by the governor so basically the policy that we're approving tonight would be that any staff member um contracted with cliffside park a
009custodian the secretary cafeteria worker who are unvaccinated be tested twice a week beginning or have to be tested twice a week beginning october 18th those are guidelines sucked forth by governor murphy uh we are in the process of coming up with guidelines for our staff who are unvaccinated at this time i will share those guidelines with our board of education but the policy itself which speaks to that will be approved tonight and then i will get information out to our staff and and to the board as far as the guidelines are but again i want to reiterate that um staff members who are unvaccinated for the safety of all will be tested twice a week beginning october 18th on a monday and a thursday and it's up to the staff member to fulfill that that
010obligation i also encourage encourage parents uh if you have a child who's 12 and up vaccinations are available and again i know there's a lot of parents that are concerned about the safety of their children as they should be uh but those vaccines are available and if anybody has any questions about those vaccines where they're available and so on they can call our school nurses or laura lucanic who's the local health official for the town okay i'll stop here for a minute uh any questions from the board regarding anything i just spoke about okay so at this time what i would like to do is look at the consent agenda and go over a couple of items page two on the consent agenda at the top of the page as we always do we approve
011professional development for staff some of it may still be virtual some of it now is becoming uh in person but those are amounts for registration fees that we are approving for various staff members uh the very last uh resolution at the bottom of page two we are approving an unpaid medical leave for vicki bucko who's a middle school social studies teacher uh effective september 1st through november 1st uh page 3 the fourth resolution down a resolution recommended by the superintendent to accept the resignation of joseph stanziani school psychologist effective joe uh january 1st 2022 joe has served the district as a math teacher for many many years and then joe went on to become our school psychologist he's worked at the high school in all of our elementary schools and he's done a great job
012with us and i wish joe the best uh next resolution we are accepting the resignation of jamie speliotis our teacher uh from the middle school uh effective august 31st 2021 we have a number of resolutions where we are appointing uh bus aides teacher aides and we're still filling a number of positions on pages three and page four uh bottom of page four uh to fill vacancies we are transferring um ghani maluku who was a part-time custodian at the high school to uh laurenk kovinski from part-time and number four full-time to the high school these are not new positions they're positions that came about by uh either someone leaving uh or someone being transferred to a different building and um we are also transferring uh giovanni oriella from a part-time custodian number four at number three
013to number four and again this is just some uh shifting up positions to fill spots uh top of page five um as per contract with the cpa we are uh moving people from one classification to another uh as they've successfully completed some graduate work we are approving as per contract the next resolution staff members who applied for graduate reimbursement tuition reimbursement and fulfilled those obligations from last school year uh substitute teachers were approving additional substitutes uh we're approving lunch aids and by the way substitutes lunch aids still have to fulfill all of the vaccination requirements that i referred to a couple of minutes ago uh page seven uh we have again we're approving tuition reimbursements for this coming school year uh for the following staff members as per cpa contract and again uh these are
014people that are applying the application has been approved but they have to fulfill those graduate courses and they will be reimbursed at next september after they show proof of taking the courses and getting a b and above uh page eight we are filling two co-curricular positions a morning duty at school number three of beth molinado assistant high school robotics ed jones at the high school uh we are rescinding an appointment for lucy spoletti saturday detention uh that was an error that i made last meeting by appointing um lucy uh silly the phillips is our um after school coordinator at school number four uh again i left orcilla off last time she's been there i believe this is basilius third year she does a good job in the after school program uh then the next resolution
015are as per contract we are approving staff members who are teaching an extra class in the middle school in the high school or are using a dual certification page 10 you'll notice we have a number of staff members where we're just appropriating their salaries from local funds to title or ncob funds so basically what we're doing on page 10 is we are instead of paying these salaries out of local budget we're paying out of federally funded programs that we've received uh grant monies for one being title one another being title two uh preschool handicap and so on and so forth and page 11 we're second reading of policies that are being revised and updated in addition to the school employee vaccination requirement policy uh page 12 um as i mentioned unvaccinated staff have to be
016tested twice weekly we are going to use lab cue initially this might not be something that might be long term but we are going to be using lab cue at no cost to the board uh lab cue will be on site monday and thursday from three to six and any staff member who's unvaccinated can use this um company to get i'm sorry to get tested for cover not unvaccinated to get tested for covert and uh the labor the land results will come back to the nurses within 24 hours so in case there is a 20 a coven positive we could take action quickly in terms of quarantining possible students or staff that need to be this may not be long term if a staff member who's unvaccinated chooses not to use this uh lab cue
017they can go to their own doctor but the results have to be with to us within 24 hours and again no cost to the board uh page 13 i had emailed the board uh a week ago about our uh the school district's emergency plan that has to be submitted to the county this is basically the same plan we submitted last year when we were remote with just some minor adjustments uh regarding um some updates from the the governors they call it the road back so you have a copy of that plan and that will be posted to our website uh as soon as the county approves it um hopefully within the next couple of weeks buildings and grounds usage and then mr alfano do you have anything as far as finance just a couple items
