no one is taking advantage of that that particular program that's offered from the state primarily the program is to put off graduation so uh athletes i really believe have an opportunity to play either in their junior year and or senior year but again we had no takers for it this year i do want to make mention that the high school is investigating uh you know last couple of years we've uh offered programs through burton community college programs like the associate's degree where a student can take classes during their junior and senior years and when they graduate get a high school diploma and a two-year degree from burn community college students in our high school also have the opportunity to take classes in our high school and receive burton community college credits another program that we're
looking at is a tech program where students can participate with the assistance of burton community college and receive a certificate as a medical assistant uh child development or logistics associate so it's something that we're investigating to partner with burton community college it all depends on the interest that we have from our students so right now um mr chrisanno who's our supervisor of guidance is polling students but we didn't want to offer students something other than college credits that maybe they wanted to go into a field that's tech related so those programs right now are three programs that we'll be looking at and i'll keep the board a prize as to whether or not we have any students that are interested uh winter sports you know we're streaming our uh with the sports right now uh
but we're also allowed to have spectators uh two guardians or parents are attending um those programs and that seems to be right now going very well as far as uh information that i received from dave porpito our director of athletics uh middle school sports right now where um determining whether or not volleyball middle school volleyball will take place right now it looks like we do have interest and we'll also be starting uh march 1st uh wrestling at the high school and also volleyball at the high school so these sports are moving forward in addition to track and then uh later on baseball and softball [Music] uh i sent each of you a copy of the um final draft of our agreement between cliffside park and ridgefield as far as the co-op is concerned so i
think both boards of education are going to look over the contract and hopefully in march we can have a resolution and i'm sure that richfield is probably also looking at march as a a month where they'll approve it um once we do that and the state finalizes it then we can move forward with plans for a co-op right now a two-year agreement that we will have with reach richard uh with richfield to help our football program i do want to make mention that i received a letter from the new jersey association of school librarians and i want to congratulate yvette molinado who is a media specialist at school number three uh yvette was has been selected as the new jersey association of school librarians recipient of the 2020 ruth tour outstanding media specialist award so
uh yvette does a great job with us uh in school three as a media specialist and uh this letter is recognition that she has um done a great job the last couple of years in that particular position so yvette congratulations on that uh kindergarten and pre-k for next year uh today or yesterday i think it was i had mr savastano post to the website uh flyers for this coming school year uh we'll be promoting it through a swift reach through our website uh sending out text messages but right now kindergarten registration for new kindergarten students in the district will take place april 13-16 and pre-k april 27 and 29th and all of that information is posted to our our website at this time uh february 23rd this past tuesday yesterday we had a stamp in
service for staff members in grades k-5 it went very well staff members had an opportunity to attend grade level meetings we spoke about our report cards for this coming year curriculum items were discussed and uh we have another staff and service scheduled for march 16th and at that time we will probably include grade six so that would mean that we would have another remote day for those students staff come in teach in the morning in service in the afternoon but that went very very well i do want to also make mention that um there was an article in this sunday's northjersey.com or the bergen record about money that districts are going to receive in new jersey they're called ess er 2 monies like covert money that we received in the past and they have to
be used for specific reasons such as addressing learning laws for students ventilation upgrades for buildings mental health counseling for students and so on and so forth there's about 16 categories that apply but there are certain categories such as learning loss and so on where we have to apply this money right now it looks like cliffside although it's not finalized yet will receive somewhere around two million dollars in funding that can be used over a two-year period and i am going to engage our principals our supervisors uh the local cpa union for suggestions in terms of where that money where that money can be best spent and of course as i said in my email to the board on sunday uh we'll also engage the board in terms of suggestions uh ideas that lou and i
might have in terms of where we can best spend that money those monies do not offset the local budget but they are monies that can be used in a lot of the areas that i just spoke about so we just received information on this uh within the last couple of days so once we get more specifics about it uh we are we do have to put together a write-up um i guess you could say it's like a grant applying for the uh permission to use that money by may and i believe it's over a two-year period i'm not mistaken through september 21st september 2023 so we can use that funding for about two years in the area that i spoke about so we'll have more discussion about that once we receive a little bit more
information regarding the guidelines but it's good news that we will at least have that funding uh to put in those areas where where we do need help such as counseling for students when they come back full time in september let's hope and so on and so forth uh i'll stop at this point any questions from the board i had just i just wanted to mention that i'd been able to watch some of the uh broadcasts of the basketball games in particular and it's a really wonderful system that mr corfetto and i don't know if mr stavistano if you had anything to do with putting that together but it's a great great system uh low key but at the same time you can watch a game see the score and know what's happening for for nearly
every one of the games uh it's a really great system and it would be nice i'm not sure what kind of an expense is involved with it but it would be nice if once all this is over something like that could continue it's a great great system to watch games and obviously anybody anywhere in the world can watch these games it's a wonderful system okay um i'll let mr poppy don't know that i know i believe we purchased the equipment am i correct correct so the equipment is ours okay so it's just a matter of having somebody run the system and you know the cameras are robotic so right no one really works the cameras but yeah we can continue doing something like that yeah i think there's only like a live stream do you
think it's like a live stream [Music] i i did get some information i did i did um call around to a couple of districts uh let me see if i could get to my notes [Music] i haven't completed everything but these are the districts that i spoke to right now dumont it's run by a private organization richfield park run by a private organization leona does not have one anchorwood does not have one cal state's park it's run by a private organization bergenfield a private organization and fort lee a private organization so of the districts that i spoke to no district runs it themselves it's either a separate entity like we currently have or they don't even have one [Music] i didn't really get into uh any other specifics i just wanted to just find out
how they ran it because some of the people that i spoke to they really are not involved with it because it's a private entity so i didn't really have anybody directly that i could speak to but that's the information that i found out so far and i'll keep going [Music] okay i can speak to uh to pagoda but i know the other districts that i did speak to don't if everything's done outside of the outside of the district [Music] and i'll i'll i'll check and i'll call pagoda tomorrow uh anyone else okay before i look at the consent agenda any um committee reports [Music] there's a good champion [Music] thank you mr capano anything else any other committee reports okay if not i'm going to go look at the consent agenda i believe you have
a copy in your folders just a couple of items i want to point out on page two we have a high school math teacher it's the first resolution actually third resolution down high school math teacher jin lim who has resigned her math position at the high school effective january 21st uh her employment date will end march 19th she's moving she's relocating and that's why she's resigning i i was able to fill that position you'll see that a little bit later in the agenda i want to make note that christine mitchell who has been a teacher aide with us for a number of years a number of years uh has submitted a hurry time and effective june 30th 2021. uh we wish christine the best uh if we flip over to page three top of page

appointed as the middle school volleyball coach has resigned that position and below her scottie morin uh you know that due to a lack of participation and enrollment we are not running our middle school basketball program this year so we are rescinding that uh appointment that we made back in january i believe or actually december uh we have some volunteer coaches at the top of page four and as per our policy volunteers uh are fingerprinted through the central office uh some of them have been with us before um as you know via toro jim fuchi mike scottifava are already teachers with us in the system but they'll be volunteering below that we have our spring sport appointments for baseball track and softball and as we've done with the other sports this school year we also have
a resolution on page five uh from our board attorney that if the season were not to run uh the salaries would be either rescinded or pro rated uh we've done that with the four sports the with the sports and now we're doing the same thing with the spring sports [Music] and on page seven um last week i gave you a calendar for the 2021-22 school year we are approving that calendar tomorrow i'll post it to the website tomorrow and send it out to the staff and the parents will be able to view it uh and as you know that um all calendars usually have revisions as we go along but right now i'd like to get a calendar out to the staff and the parents so they have an idea of what 2122 looks like
so that'll be sent out tomorrow it'll be approved tonight i believe there's also a copy in your folder we're approving the second reading of the policies and regulations which i mentioned last week and i have given you a copy were updated and for the most part as i had mentioned minor revisions of those policies mr alfalfa you have anything from in finance just the one island mr capano mentioned that yes for obviously our greatest efforts right now is on the 2122 budget we have to submit it to the county in the state by march 4th we hopefully get our state aid by end of day tomorrow and then we will be engaging the borough along with the finance committee on friday at 11 o'clock i'll keep the board and the finance committee updated thank you
