002follow five and one [Music] okay [Music] okay [Music] so [Music] [Applause] you're not important [Music] thank you [Music] and here we go ladies and gentlemen the clifton mustangs captains are heading to the middle of the field as we speak they're doing the coin toss now we are here on a beautiful beautiful friday night for homecoming it's gonna be an amazing game clifton really having to prove themselves against one of the top teams ranked in the state of new jersey being the northern highlands islanders it's going to be a huge game for your mighty mustangs but they have had an excellent season as they both have the same record 5-0 but one of these teams is going to fall to five and one today and it's gonna be a true test for one of the best
003teams in the state the highlanders but also a true test for your mustangs so let's see what happens here today and clifton will receive after the coin toss and it's going to be a great game today for your mighty mustangs here for homecoming with a packed crowd with students and parents all across everywhere we even have some alumni here of former players and students at clifton high school [Music] and we are all very excited any energy in here is unlike anything i've ever seen [Music] here we go ladies and gentlemen all the mustang special teams is on the field and here comes the northern highlands special teams as well here we go the referee blows the whistle and we are about to begin ladies and gentlemen clifton mustangs northern highlands and there's the kickoff and
004it goes out of bounds and that is a phenomenal start for clifton as that's a penalty and clifton will begin their drive in a nice spot and out comes the clifton mustangs offense led by the one and only kyle vellus here we go out comes the clifton mustangs offense led by quarterback number 10 kyle vellis senior having an excellent season receiver in motion three two kyle velas is left one to his right looks like they're calling it audible here as we see that velas this season so far 596 passing yards seven touchdowns and three interceptions on the year so a great year for him dallas takes the snap he's gonna throw first play it looks like a screen and it was nearly picked off but it's caught and what a catch my goodness a broken
005tackle and there he goes down the sideline my goodness what a way to start the game unreal oh my goodness a near interception turns into a big 30-yard catch for luke's and mary my goodness [Music] and gracious first down for clifton off the first play of scrimmage nearly picked off but luke's and arie comes through with the catch and they get a big amount of yards and the second play on offense we run the ball here right up the middle balls take it to about the 40-yard line good carry there and it'll be about second and three or second and seven after a gain of three starting running back for clifton is number 21 jacob maldonado he has 76 carries on the season with 447 yards seven touchdowns and no fumbles it is very very
006impressive so he hasn't turned the ball over but who knows what can happen today against the team as good as northern highlands second and eight from about the 40-yard line shotgun formation for velus he takes the snap he's gonna throw has some time throws for the right sideline too low and complete looking for michael kristoff there couldn't quite make the throw and it'll be third down and eight for clifton so already in third down territory shotgun formation bellas takes the snap a little bit high goes with a handoff here interesting play call on third down and eight and he'll lose a yard or two and it'll be fourth down and nine and clifton's gonna bring out the special teams and they're gonna put this ball away on the first drive is and velos is going
007to punt this one and it takes a bounce at the 15 bounces again at the eight moves back they're going to decide to return this he breaks the tackle and they meet him about the 19 is where he's tossed out of bounds and that is where northern highlands will begin their drive and their team is led by number 13 quarterback enzo arjona who has been excellent for them this year [Applause] he has been the core piece of their offense and let's see how clifton's defense fares against northern highlands and here we go man in motion here fake jet sweep and he takes the snap himself and he is locked after a gain of two so our jonah tries to run there and he gets stonewalled after a gain of one and it'll be second and
008nine from the twenty second and nine hand off goes here right up the middle he gets a nice move brought down at about the 27 yard line it'll be third in about a yard here depending on the spot shotgun formation three receivers jonah's left one on his right one man in the backfield looking towards the coaches at the sideline third in a couple yards third and four to be exact jonah takes the snap he's gonna throw doesn't have much time gets rid of the ball and that one is incomplete and they're gonna call a flag there most likely for defensive pass interference and it is a defensive flag the crowd does not agree with that one and neither does the mustang sideline and they were looking for a sideline they were looking for a flag
009from the sideline four northern highlands and they caught a break and they got it so now the ball is still theirs and they get the ball let's see where the refs spot it and he's going to spot it past the 40-yard line at the 41. so that is where the penalty was they're gonna spot the ball at the 41-yard line for northern highlands that is where they're that is where the penalty was so that is where they will begin it looks like good defense by the mustangs but the refs must have saw a penalty three receivers left one right one man in the backfield our jonah takes the snap play action throws as he gets hit and he's intercepted and there he goes down the sideline touchdown clifton and who else oh my goodness and
010who else other than donovan swayze adding to the highlight reel another interception this season his fifth and that one goes in for six showtime with a pick six and clifton's on the board to begin the game at a bad snap here on the x on the extra point he's gonna throw for the end zone it goes out of the back of the end zone and clifton does not get seven minutes six nothing clifton for an amazing pick six for clifton donovan swayze unbelievable so clifton messes up the extra point the snap there was was bobble a little bit he couldn't get both hands on it and plant it properly so he had to try and get through there and he just threw it out of the back of the end zone and clifton still leads
011six nothing donovan showtime swayze with a pick six and here we go clifton holds a six nothing lead after a pick six by number six donovan swayze with his fifth interception on the year unbelievable takes it back for a touchdown with clifton oh so desperately needs it and let's see if we ice the quarterback we kick this one off here now it's a good one is he's going to return it from the one he gets past the 15th gets past the 20 25 30 and there he goes down the sideline is he going to get those points back not quite but an excellent starting field position for northern highlands as it's inside the 45 and about the 47 and out comes northern highlands offense let's see how equipped its defense fares on the second drive
012[Music] oh my goodness the crowd is excited the sideline for clifton going crazy here we go first play he takes the snap he's going to carry himself gets a little gets a couple of yards there gets it a little bit past the 50 so it'll be second and six from about midfield two receivers lined up on the right and one left hand off here he has a little bit of patience gets a maybe to the 49-yard line but he is still going off that third down and five third and five here from the 40 from a 49 yard line one man at the backfield two receivers on each side man motions over a little bit now that you're in five wide third and five jonah calling an audible looking to both sides of the field

024he's looking steps up in the pocket rolling out throws for the end zone what a throwing catch and touchdown northern highlands oh my goodness what a play and after they ruin a touchdown they say no oh my goodness and it looks like the touchdown is coming back after a holding penalty on the offense so after a game-changing touchdown which could have given northern highlands a potential three-point definite two-point lead it is now third and thirteen i believe they're gonna take the snap here gonna throw another flag on the field here and it's gonna be full start on the offense so they move even further back [Applause] just silly mistakes shooting themselves in the foot over and over they had a touchdown in the grasp of their hands and now it's gone it's gonna be third

058clifton gonna send some pressure all day for our jonah though but not anymore as he's gonna throw on the run and that one's incomplete fourth and six now good pass rush by clifton and they're gonna bring out the special teams clock stop now 23 seconds left to go in the third quarter clifton down 15-6 there's the snap far punt here pretty good swayze tries to waste that wave that one off and grab it and the ball is at the one yard line what a punt and that is where clifton will begin their drive 99 yards is how far down the field they have to drive they want to get in the end zone [Music] and that is the second one today that is inside that is about at the one yard line inside the five

063fourth in a yard here my offense still out there is that time out then uh fourth and six here islanders are gonna try and kick a field goal [Music] and that one is a little short and left no good and clifton will get the ball back with seven and a half minutes left to go in the fourth and final quarter they're down 22-6 first and ten from the 20. and a penalty flag bear i think it's on the defense and it is it'll be a five yard penalty first down and five now from the 25. uh snap looking no time throws it up incomplete second five [Music] there's too much feedback a 10-yard penalty against clifton there all spotted at the 10 yard line now second to 15. ellis throws to his right to screen

066and a good run there brought down the 14 after a gain of 11 on the run first down highlanders who have been playing excellent second half leaving clifton with no points at all they have got i believe um 10 points or i believe 14 they've got two touchdowns they've been doing excellent this half clifton only has six and that was from the pick six from donovan swayze that's the only time they've scored this game offensively it's just been a stop after stop after stop and this is why the highlanders are one of the best teams in the state of new jersey because their defense is just so good and then offensively they're just so consistent they run the ball very well they have a good backfield good quarterback good old line they have no weaknesses

071and a half seconds left clinton's offense comes out onto the field now they have not put up any points this game the highlanders have done an excellent job locking them down and it looks like it's going to be that way clifton maybe going for a hail mary here just try to get some points on the board but yeah bellis he's going to throw steps up in the pocket and he can barely get the ball off i mean he throws that one i mean he had pressure on his face he has nowhere to go the offensive line just couldn't protect there for him and that's been that's been more of just great defensive pressure by the highlanders than just bad blocking by clifton because clifton's blockers we know what they're capable of they're very good so
