001good evening and welcome at this time you please stand for our flagship i pledge allegiance to the flag of the united states of america to the republic for which it stands one nation under god indivisible with liberty and justice for all at this time please welcome ms pelakowski advisor of national honor society [Applause] welcome to the 2021-2022 national honor society induction ceremony at this time i would like to invite former national honor society president and cctech alumni lucasana to the podium to address our new inductees luke is currently a student at thomas jefferson university where he is pursuing a degree in architecture and real estate development [Applause] [Music] [Applause] hello inductees and families my name is lucasana i'm a cctech alumni from the graduating class of 2021 and was part of the engineering program first
002i figured i would tell you about my duration at cctech over the past four years during my time at cc tech i was a national honor society president student council president a tech ambassador an early college high school graduate and i was also involved in many other clubs and organizations i was awarded a full academic scholarship at thomas jefferson university where i'm currently studying architecture in a five-year program and i will be beginning my masters in real estate development in this upcoming fall i am very proud of these accomplishments but i must humbly say that i do not give any credit to anyone other than the cctac administration and guidance department [Applause] i was appointed president of the national honor society here at cctech in 2020 right as the covenant 19 pandemic swept the nation
003as you all know we were sent home from school and were not really given an idea when we were returned as upperclassmen we were shaken and not sure what the future entailed as a chapter we knew it was our responsibility to echo confidence and positivity into the minds of our peers the community that we forged through this tough time was unbreakable and i personally was determined to lead our chapter to accomplish our goals and our agenda regardless of the circumstances through our national honor society chapter's relentless efforts while abiding by the cdc in school guidelines our chapter conducted a volunteer preschool reading a canned food drive for the red cross and we started a fun for the ronald mcdonald house as well we laid the foundation for the following chapters to pursue whatever agenda they
004may create for themselves the cctech national honor society is a prestigious community full of scholarly students from various programs these students are seated before you do their hard work both inside and outside of the classroom as individuals they are strong and collectively there's no limit to the success that this chapter can achieve this society is meant to showcase the top caliber students of cctech and to provide a platform for these students to better themselves and their school as a whole being a member of the cctech national honor society prepared me to lead by example and unlock my full potential i'm sure that it will do the same for each and every student being inducted tonight thank you very much and i cannot wait to see all this chapter achieves [Applause] [Music] [Applause] thank you luke
005today's ceremony indicates the continuing emphasis on excellence that we represent for our school and community throughout the year members of our chapter serve as role models for other students our chapter members are leaders in many organizations both academically and professionally we serve our school and community through local and national programs such as interact skills usa student council hosa model congress and robotics just to name a few in our inaugural year of nhs membership our students completed over 200 hours of community service and raised over 1 000 for the ronald mcdonald house of south jersey we are proud of this record of accomplishment imitation and national honor society is the greatest academic honor that can be bestowed in order to be invited for membership the candidates have earned at least a 3.7 overall grade point average
006however our inductees have diverse talents and interests far beyond academics they have proven their willingness to engage in a multitude of charitable causes and service projects each new member has taken on leadership roles in extracurricular organizations classroom activities and job responsibilities since their freshman year we are proud of their accomplishments over the past two years they have demonstrated themselves through their actions to be true leaders in every aspect of the word at this time i would like to introduce the president of national honor society pauline pimsa [Applause] we are gathered here to formally recognize those students who have been selected by the faculty of our school for completing their candidacy and being inducted as new members in our nhs chapter we are proud to invite 61 deserving junior and seniors to join the cumberland county
007technical education centers chapter of the national honor society as we welcome these new members i am very excited to see how each of these students will utilize their unique talents to collaborate as we continue to build our national honor society chapter while being inducted here tonight is a great honor it also comes with a responsibility to uphold and exemplify the four national honor society pillars of scholarship leadership character and most importantly service the candles before us symbolize these pillars we proclaim to all in attendance that membership in the cumberland county technical education center's chapter of the national honor society has been earned by these candidates through the effective demonstration of the four virtues that serve best standards for the society we will now review these pillars for the candidates our current parliamentarian sydney taylor would
008like to candle for scholarship denotes a commitment to learning a student is willing to spend hours in reading and study knowing the lasting benefits of a cultivated mind we should continue to learn even when formal education has ended for human education ends only with the end of life knowledge is one great element in life which leads to highest success it can be acquired in only one way through diligence and effort learning furnishes the lamp by which we read the past the torch guiding us to understand the present and the light that illuminates the future candidates have the charge to continually expand their world through the opportunities inherent in scholarship our current treasurer alexandra basile would like to candle for service service can be established in the routine of the day's work where many opportunities arise
009to help others both at school and in the community a willingness to work for the benefit of those in need without monetary compensation or public recognition is a quality we seek in our membership and promote for the entire student body we are committed to volunteering our time and talents that the creation of a better tomorrow our current secretary skyler cooper will light the candle for character character is a force within the individual that distinguishes each person from others it creates for each of us our individuality our goodness it is that without which no one can respect oneself nor hope to attain the respect of others it is this force of character that guides one through life and once developed grows steadily within character is achieved and not perceived it is the product of constant thought
010and action the daily striving to make the right choice the problem of character is a problem of self-control we must be in reality what we wish to appear to others to be rather than to see by demonstrating such qualities as respect responsibility trustworthiness fairness caring and citizenship we may hope to prove by example that we value character our current vice president aaron pritchett will light the candle for leadership [Music] leadership should exert a wholesome influence on the school and take an initiative in the classroom and in school activities the real leader strives to train and aid others to reach their common goals of success the price of leadership is sacrifice the willingness to yield one's personal interest for the interests of others a leader has self-confidence and will go forward when others hesitate no matter
