001welcome to cctech at this time can you please stand for the flagship i pledge allegiance to the flag of the united states of america and to the republic for which it stands one nation under god indivisible with liberty and justice for all please be seated at this time please welcome miss felikowski advisor national honor society [Applause] welcome to the 2020-2021 national honor society induction ceremony at this time i would like to invite former student council president and cctech alumni tabitha gentiletti to the podium to address our new inductees tabitha is currently a student at penn university where she is pursuing a four-year degree in nursing [Applause] hello my name is tabitha gentiletti a graduate of the class of 2020. i currently attend the university of pennsylvania school of nursing however at cctech i studied studio
002production and broadcasting my path was unclear when i first entered high school but i did not let myself be combined to my major i explored many different aspects of life in my academics in my community and my extracurriculars i believe being a part of the national honor society helped me choose my path for college and beyond nhs prides itself on service leadership character and scholarship pillars that also stand tall in my current life because of the nhs i was able to explore these traits and they flourished in my high school and in my high school years and continue to do so today service calls us to seek opportunities to serve others through acts of kindness leadership strengthens everyday service since the leader can inspire others to serve and lead as well character is valuing diversity
003and building relationships that reflect self-love as well as care for others scholarship is committing to learning and maturing educationally nursing embodies these traits seamlessly i never have felt so fulfilled knowing that my future career is going to give back to others so graciously each one of you exemplifies service leadership character and scholarship and will be able to find your path using these guiding characteristics as a compass congratulations and thank you [Applause] thank you tabitha today's ceremony indicates the continuing emphasis on excellence that we represent for our school and community throughout the year members of our chapter serve as role models for other students our chapter members are leaders in many organizations both academically and professionally we serve our school and community through local and national programs such as interact skills usa student council hosa model
004congress and robotics just to name a few in our inaugural year of nhs membership our students completed over 200 hours of community service and raised over one thousand dollars for ronald mcdonald house of south jersey we are proud of this record of accomplishment invitation to nhs is the greatest academic honor that can be bestowed in order to be invited for membership the candidates had earned at least a 3.7 overall grade point average however our inductees have diverse talents and interests far beyond academics they have proven their willingness to engage in a multitude of charitable causes and service projects each new member has taken on leadership roles and extracurricular organizations classroom activities and job responsibilities since their freshman year we are proud of their accomplishments over the past two years they have demonstrated themselves through their
005actions to be true leaders in every aspect of the word at this time i would like to introduce the president of nhs luke mastano [Applause] we are gathered here to formally recognize those students who have been selected by the faculty of our school for successfully completing their candidacy and being inducted as new members of our nhs chapter we are proud to invite 73 deserving junior and senior members to join the cumberland county technical education center's chapter of the national honor society as we welcome these new members i'm very excited to see how each of these students will utilize their unique talents to collaborate as we continue to build our national honor society chapter while being inducted here tonight is a great honor it also comes with a responsibility to uphold and exemplify the four national
006honor society pillars of scholarship leadership character and most importantly service the candidates before us symbolize these pillars we proclaim to all in attendance that membership in the cumberland county technical education center's chapter of the national honor society has been earned by these candidates through the effective demonstration of the four virtues that serve as standards of the society we will now review these pillars for the candidates our current parliamentarian trinity baghnati will light the candle for scholarship [Music] scholarship denotes a commitment to learning a student is willing to spend hours in reading and study knowing that the lasting benefits of a cultivated mind we should continue to learn even when formal education has ended for human education and only with the end of life knowledge is one great element in life which leads the highest success
007and it can be acquired in only one way through diligence and effort learning furnishes the land by which we breed the past the torch guiding us to understand the present and the light that illuminates the future candidates have the charge to continually expand their world through the opportunities inherent in scholarship our current treasurer anaya german will light the candle for service service can be established in the routine of the day's work where many opportunities rise to help others both at school and in the community a willingness to work for the benefit of those in need without monetary compensation or public recognition is the quality we seek in our membership and promote for the entire student body we are committed to volunteering our time and talents to the creation of a better tomorrow our current secretary
008brianna pettis will light the candle for character character is a force within the individual that distinguishes each person from others it creates for each of us our own individuality our goodness it is that without which no one can respect oneself nor hope to attain the respect of others it is this force of character that guides one through life and once developed grows steadily within character is achieved and not received it is a product of constant thought and action the daily striving to make the right choice the problem of character is a problem of self-control we must be in reality what we wish to appear to others to be rather than to see by demonstrating such qualities as respect responsibility trustworthiness fairness caring and citizenship we may hope to prove by example that we value character
