First tonight we have the spotlight with Mr. Waters. Thank you, Mr. Halsey and Board of Education. Um I think for

the last 3 years we've had this night where we have honored our wrestlers and that's always a good thing and our school system you you have to win a state championship to be invited to a board meeting and so you have to be the best of the best and these two guys we're going to recognize tonight are certainly deserving of that. They are both state champions for their respective school. Um I was talking with someone yesterday and I think I the comment last year, but Glynn Academy and Brunswick High for the last 3 years have been ranked in the top five in the state of Georgia in our wrestling programs. And it's probably the one the one sport in the last 10 years that you've really seen come from the bottom to the top in

um in Glynn County as far as being competitive. So, um there's a lot that goes into it, but we have two great coaches who are great great mentors to these kids, and um we're very proud of them. So, I'm going to ask our coaches just to come up. We'll start with Brunswick High since they're first in the alphabet, and um that keeps me out of trouble. So, uh we'll let Coach Smalls a lot of talk, and then Coach Alfau come up and speak um about Caleb. So. Yes, sir. I want to thank everyone here for having uh Samaj and myself and Coach Alfau and Mr. Cross back there uh for this meeting. Uh Samaj won state this year. Uh he had a 46 and three record. And uh he's the only senior on the team,

so we're very fortunate to have such a great leader, and we have a strong senior class next year, and he's going to uh he set that path for them to follow, and uh so very grateful to be a part of his life, and Samaj has signed a scholarship. He's going to wrestle [clears throat] at Brewton Parker College um 40 miles west from here, and I think he's going to major in uh looking at nursing. Yeah. So, uh let's give SAMAJ A HAND. >> [applause] [laughter] >> UM I'M REALLY THANKFUL FOR EVERYONE LETTING ME be here, giving me the opportunity to go out and be great, and I'm just really grateful for it all. Thank you, COACH ALFAU. >> [applause] >> HEY, COACH, IF WE SEE HIM ON THE STREET, WE better not make any quick

moves. >> [laughter] >> Hello, [clears throat] I'm coach Ryan Alfano. This is Caleb Cross. Caleb was our 175 lb state champ this year. Over the course of 4 years, he was he started for us every single year as freshman year all the way throughout. He was a regional champ, sectional champ, state runner-up as a junior, and then he won the state title in, you know, dominating fashion his senior year. He's been anchor of the program and a and a and a huge part of our program's success over the 4 years. Great leadership. A great mentor, very service-oriented. He's an extremely unbelievable young man, and we're going to miss him. So, So, we're extremely proud of him and blessed and fortunate to have him in this in our program. Want to say anything? I just want

to say thank you to all y'all for having me and Samach here. So, thank you to my family, coaches, and everything like that. And uh Yeah. Thank y'all SO MUCH. I've been here seeing the wrestlers come through. Um I I met Caleb when he was in eighth grade and he came to the banquet um for Glynn Academy wrestling and I just can't speak to it enough about

the these guys and what they go through to get to that point. I would I watched both of them win their championship this year and I'll I'll never not be a wrestling fan. It has done wonders for my kids. These are great kids. We've got great kids all through our teams and I just really appreciate the coaches, all that they've done for me, for these guys, and all the parents that are always so supportive and travel with these teams far and wide. So, congratulations to y'all. I know y'all go on to do great things and thanks for coming. >> [applause] >> ARE YOU TAKING WRESTLING NOW? [cough] MY BOYS WERE wrestling then. 008mind, we can Can we ask this um Miss Shelly Daniel to come forward with a spotlight now? I love a good surprise, but we do have a surprise spotlight tonight. The Georgia School Nutrition Association recognizes members of the media and school district employees who exceptionally publicize and promote excellence in our school nutrition program. This year at the annual GSNA state conference, the media award for the eighth district was proudly presented to our Glynn County Public Relations Director, BAILEY JOHNSON. >> [laughter] [applause] [cheering] [laughter] >> DURING THE PRESENTATION, several remarks were shared that truly captured Mrs. Johnson's impact. Mrs. Johnson is an exceptional leader who has consistently put school nutrition programs in the spotlight. Most recently, she highlighted our young award-winning NAT artists from Oglethorpe Point Elementary School, celebrating student achievement and bringing well-deserved recognition to

our district. At the beginning of this school year, she was at Brunswick High School when Representative Buddy Carter visited, ensuring this important legislative event was documented and shared. It is also encouraging to see how often Glynn County School Nutrition posts are shared on the Georgia Department of Education page, extending positive recognition even further. Through her professionalism, dedication, and expertise, Mrs. Johnson has truly become a legacy builder in the state school nutrition program. Congratulations to Mrs. Johnson on her well-deserved honor, and thank you for helping us tell the story of Glynn County School Nutrition program with excellence. >> [applause] [applause] >> Bailey, congratulations and thank you so much.
