Mhm. >> Mhm. >> Like I call to order, please, sir. I'd like to call to order the March 10th board meeting. First, have the invocation and pledge with Mr. Jackson. >> Heavenly Father, thank you for allowing us to come together. Thank you for waking us up and allowing us to travel here safely. Lord, give us the opportunity for to give us opportunity to make great decisions for our community as well as our children so we can have a great community. And all these things we ask in Jesus' name. Amen. >> I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Thank you, Mr. Jackson. Um before we start the spotlight, um just a
couple quick notes. Um Mr. Dodgins out of town at a work event that he couldn't make it back from and Ms. Sands is stuck in island traffic. There was a bad accident, I think, on Frederica Road or >> Down by the creek bridge. >> So, she's probably not going to make it. She's with us on the phone, so um next we'll have the spotlight with uh Ms. Johnson. >> Good evening. It's so light outside. It feels so weird. Um [clears throat] so, for our first spotlight, we are incredibly proud to recognize students and staff from Brunswick High School for their success with their studio production of the Ball Soprano. In October, Brunswick High School made history by winning at the Georgia Theatre Conference. This victory marks the first time ever that a production from Glynn
County Schools has taken the top honor at this state level competition. >> [snorts] >> Moving on to the next level of competition, this talented team earned the right to represent not only our school and our county, but the entire state of Georgia by being one of the five schools in Georgia to compete at the Southeastern Theatre Conference. This team actually just returned from this competition, which took place from March 4th to the 8th. To share more about this journey and the impact of this experience on our students, please welcome Ms. Lucy Bryson. She is the one-act coach, production company director, and the theater teacher at Brunswick HIGH SCHOOL. >> [applause] >> HI, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HAVING US. UM, can I go ahead and have the team stand up? So, a little bit about
this journey, um we walked into the school year knowing that I would be out for a little bit, um, for obvious reasons. And uh an opportunity presented itself [clears throat] for us to compete in a brand new competition, and um these guys spent 2 weeks of their summer working with me, um, directing the show before I went out on maternity leave. Then took it upon themselves to keep rehearsing while I was gone. Then, um, we met in Macon at GTC, and they did incredibly well, and then they have done a fantastic job of making changes and making the show better, um, and I could not be more proud of how we placed at the Southeastern Theatre Conference in Chattanooga. We won second place. >> Nice. >> We won Y'all can hold her, if that's all
>> [laughter] >> THE TROPHIES ARE >> [applause] >> SO, YOU CAN SEE WE DID QUITE WELL. UM, WE WON second place overall. We got uh outstanding ensemble. We also won a judges choice of outstanding ensemble within an ensemble. >> [snorts] >> Two of our actors won best supporting actor in the entire festival, and then the other four actors, the other four main cast actors, won All-Star awards. So, in a festival with 11 shows from across, um, 10 states, we were highly, highly recognized. We were the only production where every actor in the cast was given an individual award. >> Wow. >> So, it doesn't get a whole lot better than that. Do y'all have questions? >> No, I don't. It's just um congratulations and and I've had the pleasure of seeing you guys perform a
number of times and Bayan keeps me up-to-date on everything you guys have going on. So, we're extremely proud and and just so thankful that y'all were back safely and that's a neat experience. How'd y'all like Chattanooga? Was it fun? It's a neat It's a pretty neat little town. So, um Martin? >> I think we have We have some slides here on the easel there. >> Do you have some slides? So, that's from our one-act production of James and the Giant Peach. That was earlier this year. So, they were actually managing um two shows and some of them three shows simultaneously. >> goodness. >> So, that was from our state and then this is the national. And then um this is just like a fun little bonus. At both At both of these competitions, they have
the opportunity, juniors and seniors, to audition for colleges. So, the counts are the number of colleges that are interested in these students based on that audition. So, they're now being um pursued and recruited by those colleges um I would say southeast, but several of them attracted some attention from some New York colleges um and further. So, we're quite proud of that as well. >> Are these all seniors on the list? >> Seniors and juniors. >> How did the youngest member do? >> She did quite well. >> [laughter] >> She had to leave a couple of productions a little early, but mostly actually made it through what? At least five or six productions while we were there. >> Wow. >> She did not like being dressed up for the awards ceremony. >> [laughter] >> I will
say I was out at the fundraiser at Gadsden and enjoyed it immensely. Not only was the food delicious, but they were all fabulous. >> Thank you. >> They would do good work. >> That baby looks so happy. >> [laughter] >> Not a noise, a peep, nothing. >> She's like, "Look at all these people." >> This is a real experience. >> She very much enjoyed chatting with people at the conference. >> Miss Bryson, thank you all so much for being here. We certainly appreciate it. Thank you all for representing us. >> YOU'RE WELCOME. >> [applause] [applause] >> MISS MISS JOHNSON, YOU WANT TO ARRANGE THEM SOMEWHERE FOR A PICTURE? I don't know where they'll fit the best. >> Can we have them here? >> They can They can They can definitely come up here. >> We'd
like a copy. We want to celebrate. >> [snorts] >> You want all of this? >> Yeah. >> Just stand. >> Yeah, we need Y'all Y'all slide back. Of course, [clears throat] let the tall people get in the back. I knew you were going to open your mouth. Make me move. I'm Now I'm behind the tall one. >> [laughter] >> I'm going to Did you want a lot of You good now? Yeah, I'm good. >> Three, two, one. Thank you so much. >> Thank you all so much. >> Savannah. Yeah. >> [laughter] >> Okay, there. Hey, listen. >> Okay, and then for our second spotlight, as you guys know this week is school board appreciation week. It's a time to celebrate the hard work and the often unseen hours that you all put into making our
district a success. From policy decisions to late night phone calls, your commitment to our students' future is the backbone of our community. [clears throat] The importance of this role isn't just recognized locally. I have a copy of a proclamation from Governor Brian Kemp officially declaring this week as school board appreciation week across the state of Georgia. And then also as a small token of our gratitude of your leadership and service, we have a certificate of appreciation for each of you that you will be receiving tonight. And while the certificates and proclamations are formal, the true heart of why you do what you do can be found in our classrooms. So, we had a few members of our school community who want to tell you thank you as well. So, if we can play that video,
>> That would be great. >> Thank [screaming] you. >> [cheering] >> Thank you. >> [singing] >> On behalf of the Glynn County School Nutrition Program, >> Thank you. >> As you can see, we are thankful for the impact you make [music] on our school district. Whether it be pre-K, school nutrition, or the high schools, you make an impact on our students each and every [music] day. Thank you. >> Thank you ALL [applause] SO MUCH. >> THANK YOU. >> Y'ALL [clears throat] MAKE IT EASY. >> FOR SURE. >> FOR THOSE OF us who have been on the board long enough to know when it wasn't very easy. We appreciate y'all very much. >> Um okay, great job. Thank you. Um next citizen to address the board, anybody signed in? >> Yeah. >> Hallelujah. >> [laughter] >>
Happy school board appreciation. >> Don't let him just don't put the sheet out there tonight. >> [laughter] >> Um next we have approval of the agenda. I'll entertain a motion to approve. >> So moved. >> Moved by Mr. McVay, seconded by Mr. Jackson. Any discussion? All those in favor? It's unanimous. So Miss Adams, sorry. [snorts] 80? So that was 5-0 that one. >> [snorts] >> Um next consent agenda items So seven is the approval of the February uh board meeting minutes. Um >> Am I missing something? Where are those? >> Go ahead just >> Miss Adams approved the agenda via text. >> Okay. So 6-0. >> Second page. >> Mr. McVay, I'm just listing out what I think we should put on there. We can We can add or or subtract if we need to.
Um yes, so seven seven is the approval of the February 2026 board meeting minutes. 8A is personnel. 8B is field trips. 8C um facilities committee. 8C1 is good report. Uh 8D1 approval of the January 2026 financial report. D2 is the approval of the construction management [snorts] recommendation for Greer. Um D3 is approval of Glendale elementary replacement phase two change order. Um D4 is approval of strategics renewal. And I might as well put that the policy right in state of discussion tonight, so um we'll put D Oh, that's E. We'll put policy policy committee on there as well. >> Mike, I'd like to hear just a brief statement or two about D1. >> Okay. >> D1. >> We'll take the approval of the January 2026 financial report off of the consent agenda. Any more additions or
deletions? I'll entertain a motion to approve. Moved by Mr. Jackson. >> Seconded by Ms. Leader to approve the consent agenda. Any [snorts] discussion? All those in favor? It's unanimous. >> Approved. >> Okay. Thank you, Ms. Sams. Um okay, it takes us down to the approval of the January 2026 financial report. >> Just any comments, any unusual items, anything that stands out? >> No, uh-uh. I mean, we're we're right in line about where we were last year. Um you know, we're we're 95% collected with our local tax revenue, which we have a 97% uh collection rate, so that's a that's pretty much in line. And all of our expenditures are just pretty much in line where they usually are. >> what we expected. >> Mhm. >> Good. Good. You know, we move to approve it. >>

Yeah. >> Okay, so with that said, I'll entertain a motion to adjourn. >> Hold on. I want to make one comment. >> I had Mike come to the Kiwanis meeting today program. I just wanted to say to everybody, including anybody watching, he was he did an excellent job. >> Oh, thank you. >> And I'm not trying
to win any brownie points. He truly covered a lot of territory quickly and in detail. So, it was a good good presentation and if other groups are listening to this presentation tonight, I'd invite them to have him to their meetings. He may not appreciate me saying that, but uh I think it I think it would help the whole community hear hear [clears throat] that type of presentation regularly. >> Thank you. >> Absolutely. >> State of the state is always good in the community, for sure.
