the meeting to order for December 16th. We'll start with the invocation and pledge in the Sams. Let us pray. Dear Lord, as we come together during this wonderful time of the year, I pray that you'll be with all of our students and staff as they approach their last days of the semester and through the break when they can come back rested and relaxed after having spent time with family and friends. Thank you for all that you provide for our students and our community. And thank you for the people that work endlessly to make sure that our goals are reached to educate the children of our community. In your name we pray. Amen. >> Amen. >> To the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for it stands one nation indivisible with

liberty and justice for all. >> Thank you, Miss Sams. >> [snorts] >> All right, next we got the spotlight with Miss Johnson. >> Good evening. >> Tonight, we are spotlighting the incredible academic excellence happening here in Glen County Schools. The Georgia Department of Education has recently recognized schools across the state for exceptional achievement and growth in reading and mathematics during the 2024 25 school year. These prestigious honors are known as the lit literacy leader and math leader awards and they celebrate schools that demonstrate extraordinary student progress and proficiency. I'm delighted to announce that seven of our Glen County schools have earned this significant distinction for their outstanding commitment to student success. For the leader here to represent your school, please come join me whenever you are named. Our literacy leaders are Brunswick High School recognized

for high school growth. So tonight we have assistant principal Miss Pam Grryer. >> Please hold your applause to the end. [laughter] >> Glenn Academy recognized for high school achievement and growth. We have assistant principal Megan Elam. And Goodyear Elementary School recognized for third grade gateway growth and fourth grade growth with principal Alicia Flowers. These are literacy leaders. [applause] And our math leaders are Glenn Middle School recognized for high school outstanding achievement. So all of our middle schools, it's for students taking high school credit courses. So tonight we have principal Dr. Carter Akens. Jane Min Middle School recognized for high school achievement. We have principal Dr. Charlie Fraser Jr. Needwood Middle School recognized for high school outstanding achievement. We have assistant principal Robert Cannon and St. Simon's Elementary School recognized for fifth grade gateway growth and

we have assistant principal Charlotte Davis. [applause] >> Y'all stay up. Can everybody come back up for a picture? Is that all seven? >> Yes. Yep. >> These honors demonstrate that our schools are not just teaching. They're ensuring that our students are mastering essential skills and making progress every year. Their hard work ensures that every student has the opportunity to grow and succeed. >> You want to come back up for a picture? >> Good. >> Everybody back up. Hey everybody. Oh crap. >> Don't say that loud. [clears throat] >> I'm pretty sure squeeze that line together a little bit. the panoramic. [applause] [applause] Just real quick, thank you all for what you do every day. Not not just those of you represented here today, but all of our schools. We know it's a it's a tough

job and and what a what a fitting way to end uh end the last meeting of the year and this semester. So, thanks again for all you do. We appreciate YOU BEING HERE. >> [applause] >> NEXT UP, WE HAVE UM THE NATIONAL MERIT Scholarship Program is one of the nation's most prestigious academic competitions. It recognizes juniors who score exceptionally well on the preliminary SAT with less than 1% of high school seniors nationwide earning this recognition. This level of achievement is a testament to the students dedication, the quality of instruction they have received since elementary school, and the unwavering support from their families. This evening, we're incredibly proud to celebrate four students from Brunswick High and Glenn Academy for their outstanding accomplishments. From Brunswick High, we have Principal Slay Turner to recognize his students. And from

Glenn Academy, we have assistant principal Miss Megan Elim. [snorts] [clears throat] >> [snorts] >> First off, thank you for giving us an opportunity to celebrate the kids at Brunswick High School and the great academic [clears throat] success that we show off each and every day. Uh the first two students that I will bring up, I'll give them a chance to talk with you about where they plan to go to school and maybe what their career careers will be in the future. Um but these two students are what the uh what the program calls commended students. again top 1% of scores on the PSAT they won't move on to the next level um but they are to be commended as the program does so the first two folks I'll bring up Klay Noans and Charlie CLAY

[applause] tell where you're going to go to school >> hello I am Charlie Clay and I' I've been accepted to Georgia Tech. I've not decided yet because I'm waiting on a few more acceptances hopefully and I'm planning to go into aerospace and do something with that in the future. >> Awesome. >> I'm Clayton Owens and I plan to go to Georgia Tech, but I'm waiting for regular admission to come out. Um, I'm planning to do mechanical engineering and do something with that in the future. Probably like cars or something because I find like motors and stuff very interesting. Awesome. Great job, GUYS. [applause] >> And the next person that I'll bring up is a is a semi-finalist. [clears throat] So, more than 16,000 of the high scores representing less than 1% move on to be

semi- finalists. And so, when students move on to that next level, they have a chance at possibly being awarded lots of scholarship money. Um, and it is an extremely prestigious thing. I I I can't recall in the last five, seven years that we've had anybody move on past this round. Um, Glenn Academy might have, but I know Brunswick High hadn't. So, this is exciting for us. So, I'll ask her to come up here and talk to you about our next steps. Cara Nuke. [applause] >> Um, so I I als I also got accepted to Georgia Tech. Um I um currently going into uh mechanical engineering. I think uh aerospace is like the minor. Uh I honestly I am not sure uh what I want to do uh just yet. I mean the engine engineering it

uh it does seem quite um fun. I just I'm still trying to see where things go from here. And I I would definitely like to thank my parents for helping me with the convoluted process of >> [laughter] >> college application. Um, they they helped me a lot. I'm just like, oh, taxes or taxes, uh, yearly income. They I don't know any of that. So, I just, um, it's just it's not just that. I would like to thank them for everything they've helped me through, uh, through the years. Thank you. >> CONGRATULATIONS. [applause] >> [clears throat] >> If if y'all want to know about tech, [applause] >> she's the one to talk to. >> I am wearing red tonight. I don't do that except for in December. [laughter] >> You caught me on about on an

off night. >> Should have had the jacket. >> Good [clears throat] evening. I'm excited to um recognize our Glenn Academy committed student Sam H. Hearnden. I have no doubt in my mind he will be a world changer. Um and I'm proud to have gotten to work with him over the past four years. So Sam H. HEARNDEN. [applause] >> Good evening everybody. My name is Sam H. Hearnden. I have also gotten into the uh Georgia Tech. I'm not sure if I'm going to go there yet because I'm waiting on a couple other colleges to hear back from. Um, but I plan to major in mechanical engineering and I hope to do some work across the pond in motorsports in Formula 1. Um, so that's that's my goals. Thank you guys. All right. [applause] >> Okay. Awesome.

Congratulations you guys. That's that's amazing. Top 1%. That's huge. um that was not in any danger when I was in high school. [laughter] So, um to to have Georgia Tech, you know, kind of waiting on you is is pretty impressive. So, good luck with your decision and uh we wish you the best and uh come back hopefully and let us know how things are going. Maybe you can design a new school building for us or something down the road as well. So, thank you so much for being here and taking the time. >> Um next, citizens address the board. We didn't have everybody sign in tonight, so we'll move into approval of the agenda. Do I hear a motion to approve? So move. >> Moved by Mr. Jackson. >> Oh, >> I'll second it. >>

Um, it's a motion and a second to approve the agenda. Any discussion? All those in favor? Uh 6 one abstension or something. um consent consent agenda items. Um add number seven, 8A which is personnel. Um 8B which is field trips. Um 8 C facilities. Um 8C1 is a good report. Um 8 D is the finance committee. 8D1 approval of October 2025 financial report. Um I'm assuming 8E will be okay under policy. Is that okay? >> Um and then that's it. Is here a motion to approve any additions or deletions? I'm sorry to that. Here a motion to approve the consent. >> So moved by Mr. Jackson. >> I'll second. >> Second by Miss Sams. Any discussion? >> This is the consent agenda. >> All those in favor of the consent agenda. 70. Very nice. We

don't have executive session, correct? >> Anybody need to go back for anything? All right. Um, in that case, um, I'll entertain a motion to adjurnn some second by Mr. Dodge and second by Mr. Jackson. All those in favor? 70. Thank you'all so much. Merry Christmas. Happy holidays. Be safe.
