We'd like to take a moment to share how our governance team, including the board of education and the superintendent, work together to support students and families. The board focuses on policy in the long term long-term direction of social circle city schools while the superintendent and staff manage day-to-day operations of our district through a well-defined chain of command. When questions or concerns are arise, we ask families and community members to follow that chain of command, beginning with the student or excuse
me, with the teacher or school administrator and moving up as needed. This allows concerns to be addressed in a timely and appropriate manner and helps ensure the best outcomes for our students. At this time, I'll turn the meeting over to Superintendent Real. Thank you. Here in a minute, I'll direct you to the the monitor so you can see some of the highlights that are occurring here at Social Circle. Our kids are doing some amazing things as we end this year, but we also had our retiree recognition tonight and we'll see all retirees in this video. Heat. Heat. All right, you're able to see some of the great things going on uh as we approach the end of the year and we have a lot of of great recognition coming tonight for some of the stuff
that our students have accomplished through this remainder of the year. So, we're going to start off by inviting up Mr. Aaron Robinson, our CTA director, and he's going to tell us about the regional technology competition. Good evening everybody. I am here to uh on behalf of Mr. Norman, our computer science teacher, who's going to present this first award to one of our deserving students here in social circle. Uh Georgia hosts a student technology competition each year and the region hosts one for the schools in the 12 districts that we participate in in Northeast Georgia. Uh we had a winner this year in the division of animation, grade nine and 10. I'd like to ask her to come up at this time. Lady Mart. Mr. Norman passed along a few words that I'd like to share
uh with you all tonight highlighting her accomplishment. Laney is a secondyear computer science student. But while her competition was artistically based, she used advanced computer application skills in order to make her art come to life through computerized animation. When asked if she'd be willing to compete in competition, she said yes. Mr. Norman states that once he saw the finished product, he knew he had selected or requested the right person for the job. He says that Laney has an incredible artistic eye and couple that with strong computer science knowledge, amazing things happen. He says he couldn't be prouder. Way to go, Laney. And to echo that, we all are very proud of you. If you got to see the product that you made, you would be uh delighted to. It was a very well done um
incredible piece of work. So, thank you, Lane, for participating and representing Social Circle. So, well, thank you. Great job. Next up is um Social Circle High School FFA teachers and adviserss. First, I would like to say this is an honor to recognize these amazing young leaders here in our school. I would like to invite up our social circle youth council, Carrian Burough, Gage Gaddy,
Ethan Griffin, Kristen Isa, Aniston, Aniston Jenkins, Tasha Mitchell, Olivia Raleigh, Zeria Smith, Elena Thomas, and Devontre Wilbur. I am very proud to stand tonight to celebrate a powerful partnership that is shaping the future leaders of our community, the Social Circle Youth Council. As many of you may know, the program is a joint initiative between the city of Social Circle and our school system. It was created with a clear purpose to give our high school students a front row seat and a hands-on voice to the day-to-day functions of our local government. Every month, these students step out of the traditional classroom and into the real world. They spent time with our mayor and city council members, learning who they are, understanding the unique districts that they represent, and asking those tough questions to truly grasp what
it takes to make local decisions. But they didn't just sit in meeting rooms. This year, our students truly got their hands dirty. They toured every single city facility from the halls of city hall to the water treatment plant. They learned the logistics of what it takes to bring our downtown to life for community events. They suited up at the fire department and climbed as high as comfortable as they were the ladder truck. And they experienced realworld simulators training at our police department. Perhaps the most impressive part of this is that they took over the reigns of the local government themselves. They participated in mock council meeting and mock planning commission meetings. They even took on the court playing vital roles such as the judge, the solicitor, and the court clerk. Through every one of these
experiences, our students learned a vital lesson that transcends local government. They saw how every department, every staff member, and every moving part must depend on one another, working together as a team so that our city can function. Programs like this is exactly what makes Social Circle City Schools special. We are not just teaching duty from a textbook. We are letting our students live it out loud. Please join me in recognizing and congratulating some very special students. These outstanding leaders for their dedication, their curiosity, and their commitment to the future of social service. Thank you. Next up, Mr. Armstrong, Central High School principal, will be going over to our new leadership wall this year. If I could have the following students please come forward. without Medricay Bellows Audrey Hicks Kenny Hume Conor Peppers Kira Taylor. While
they're coming forward, these students participated in a two-year program that's called Youth Leadership Walton. It's a two-year program uh started by the Walton County Chamber of Commerce that builds leadership skills, community awareness, and professional networking for high school students starting their junior and then finishing their senior year. The program features CEO level training and community focused projects for students from the public and private schools across Walton County. Their curriculum is utilizes UG's JWF fanny youth leadership curriculum inclined strengths for personal growth and team building and the activities often focus on decision-m problem solving communication skills and community awareness. Once again, the youth leadership walls went off. David, are you here tonight? He I'm sorry, I left. Thank you. and David Peters. Thank you, Mr. Armstrong. Next, I'd like to invite Coach Davis to recognize our

Our baseball team this year had an incredible year. uh ended up with the final record 25- 10 that made the Elite 8. Um the first baseball team to be back to back champs. Um seniors will graduate with 101 wins in their career. Um second all time um in the school and we had a lot of guys that had an incredible individual year. Um collectively though, I believe y'all would be proud. I hope you're just as proud of not only the record and the success that everybody sees um but the way they conducted themselves throughout the whole year, the way they competed every day. They really represented themselves and the family and the high school and the
school system um in the utmost professional ways. So proud of them as much as for the wins is who they are as individual. So at this time we'd like to recognize some of our guys who were chosen for first or second team all region. We've been here for the past three years and I can't say how proud I am of these young ladies and young men for the program with their commitment to making the program a state competitive program. So, I'm going to start by introducing uh let me have the young ladies come on down cuz we we have grown. It's hard remembering who's who. One of 14 to 22 athletes this year. Now, I know y'all went faster than that. What's the word? >> Oh, no. No. What's the word? >> Exactly. >> Starting in order here, we have Miss Mariah Magguire, who's one of our discus throwers. I tried to get her to hurdle years ago,
but she don't like those hurdles. Next, we have Miss Ava Beckles, who is a sprinter hurdler. We tried her in the hurdles, and she loved the hurdles. Done a great job. Next, we have Miss Sophia Fontino. Miss Sophia is a sprinter. She runs the 100 m, 200 m, and the relays. We also have Miss Taylor Kee. Step forward when I call your name, Taylor Key. Thank you, Miss Taylor. You can step back now so everybody can see. Taylor is also a sprinter and a triple jumper. She ran the 400 m, the 200 m, and the relays. We have Miss Belle Price. Bri, if you don't step forward, Miss Belle is a triple jumper. She actually set a new school record this year, three times, because she's the current the former school record holder. She broke
her own record. No, she placed placed in the top three. She's well, she broke her record three times. She was seventh at the state championship this year over at the University of Georgia. So, congratulations to Bri. Miss Zakai Stewart is now. Next, we have Miss Sophie Brand. I call Miss Sophie. Oh, coach, can I do this? Can coach, can I do this? Coach, can I do this? She long jump. She did the hurdles. She did this 1,600, the 800, the 3200, and we even ran on the in the 400 at one point. So, uh, now she's talking about coal. We're going to make that happen. I'll talk about you again later. Next, we have Miss Emma Landre. Emma runs the 800, the 1600, the 3200, and the 4x8 relay. We'll talk about you later, too.
Next we have is Kinsley Bernett. One thing that we've gotten Kinsley quit doing when she crossed the finish line. What place was she finish? But she runs the 100, the 200 and and the 4x1 relay and the 4x2 relay back. Next we have the noisiest student in the school. She's noisy. Missile Ward. comes to us first year from ML King and she has done a very good job in helping us in the 400 meters the 200 meters and and and the relays I'll talk about you later also is that Lena Shave step up Lena when I first saw Lena run she was running cross country and I was like she can run faster than that this year ran the 800 the 1600 the uh 3200 and the 4x800. Step back. Next, we have Miss Amir
Dah. Mr. Amir is back with us for the first year. She runs the 100, the 200, the 400, the 4x1 relay, the 4x2 relay, and the 4x400 relay. This is Mir Doll. These young ladies, there's some more young ladies that did not come, but they have set several school records. talked to Bria about real Stewart who's not here. She set the new school record in the shot put at 33 feet 7 7 and 1/2 in. These young ladies need to step forward. Our 4x100 relay team, Sophia Fontino, Taylor Key, and Kinsley Brunette. They just set a new school record last Tuesday at the University of Georgia in which they placed What did you play, ladies? third place in the 4x1 in the relay. Ladies and gentlemen, our 4x100 relay TEAM for the 4x2 400 relay
team in Mary D, anal Ward, Taylor Key, and Belle Price. They placed fourth in this event. Also, they set a new school record last Tuesday at the state championship meet and running 409.98. And boy, I was up there just screaming, "Come on, get it. Come on, get it. Come on, get it." But, uh, the great thing is they're all underassman. They'll be back next year. Congratulations, ladies. And for the first year, we've been able to feel a 4x800 relay team. Miss Sophie Brand, Miss Lena Chavez, Miss Lindseay Gay is not here, and also Miss Emma Landre. This is the first year that we've been able to field a 4x800 relay team in almost every race that they set foot on the track, they were breaking the school record. And for them to make it to
the state championship, that was an honor for the first time ever social circle having been for by the 800 relay team in the past 10 years that I know of. But ladies and gentlemen, I am very proud of these young ladies. This is not all of the all the girls on the on the track team. We have 22 young ladies that represented Social Circle High School this year. I told them the night before the region championship that anything can happen. Statistically, I had picked us to finish second and they ended up winning the region championship. Ladies and gentlemen, the 2026 region. Thank you, ladies. The next young man that I want to introduce to you, Mr. CJ Scott. Step forward, Mr. Scott when he started with us as a freshman four years ago, he had
placed fifth in the state in the 400 meters. And at that time, I knew there was something special about this young man. Mr. Scott leaves with us seven school records. In the 100 meters, he ran a time of 10.61. In the 200 meters, he ran a time of 21.64. 64. He set the new school. All of these are records he broke on last Tuesday with a state championship time of 48.06. And the he had an injury a couple years ago. So our rule is if you're a sprinter, you injure yourself, you come back in 800 800 meters. We had that little scare again this year. So we were going to run in the 800. And he said, "Coach, you can run the 1600." And I went, "Sure, you can run the 16." but he ran
a time of 215 in the 800. He's responsible for being part of the 4x100 relay team in which they set a new school record of 41.97 in the 4 by 200 relay, a time of 127.45, which at one point this year was the fastest time in the state of all schools in the high in high school from division one all the way up to division 6. In the 4x400s last year, they set a record with a time of 323.42. Ladies and gentlemen, this young man can run and he's smart and he's an ROC guy. Ladies and gentlemen, the 2026 Division 1A 400 meter champion, Mr. Cornelius CJ Scott. about this young man CJ. Did you get his picture? >> He's always a respectable young man and he's smart. But ladies and gentlemen again, our boys
and girls track and field team at the beginning that I need to make this short uh that I was not a Baptist. I'll give you the initials. Mr. Bled, >> we will now take a short uh break before entering into the business portion of our meeting. Thank you. Next on our agenda is public participation. Mr. Rimard, I understand we've had one community member sign up for public participation. Yes, ma'am. Miss Bryce, if you would take the podium over there pass out, feel free. All right, Mr. P remind you there's 3 minutes of 7:00. So as soon as you begin the clock will start on the screen and you'll see it flash away. Okay. >> Okay. Thank you. Good evening, superintendent and members of the board. My name is Tresa Price, and I'm here tonight representing
the families, supporters, and athletes of the Social Circle Girls varsity basketball team. We are here to address a concerning disparity regarding how our female athletes were treated at a recent basketball banquet on April the 19th. During the boys and girls basketball, the boys basketball team received standard individual recognition awards including most basketball player, most recruit player, best weekend, and best offense. They also receive region and county awards. These kids are competitive student and also have the values for sports and work and academics. The surrounding counties also recognize these students in the past. These exact awards have been presented to the basketball teams every single year. However, This year, the girls basketball team was completely excluded from receiving these awards. There have been many meetings with the principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent. The process of how
administrators solve citizen complaints should be reviewed. Complaints should have resolved in a timely manner. No citizen should be treated this way by taking them through a long and moving process to get an answer. During one of the meetings, the principal stated, "I cannot ask the head coach about the bank." stated she that the coach reached out to the football coach because you didn't know forget about these awards. So, I find that kind of strange because you have two assistant basketball coaches and you also have tour players that know the awards that they have received the previous years. Also, the head coach did give out the award. Now, the Award is a custom award for social service. So, how did you know to give that award? This is contradicting as coach did not receive a as
coach did receive the MVP award all four years of her high school days. So she's familiar with getting a horse. The principal also stated that he does not get in the weeds of coaches. This concerns me because it appears there is no oversight over the coaches or department. The coaches are protected. But what about the students? There should be more accountability, transparency when it comes to that department. This is not just about trophies or titles. It's about families, accountability, morale, and equal treatment, and ensuring student athletes are recognized consistently and respectfully across all athletic programs. Title 9 framework states that according to the Department of Education, civil right law that prohibits sexbased discrimination in any education program was done for the boys should done for the girls. And at that banquet the boards got all
of their for everything that they do. Today we are asking the Lord to take two steps. Rectify this oversight by organizing a formal presentation where there's young women to receive their MVP most recent awards. >> Thank you so much. >> Thank you. >> I have another >> Thank you so much. >> All right. Um, we will now receive a finance update from our CFO, Miss Nicole Cross. >> Good evening. April collections, oh, sorry. April collections total $1,768 and was to the school for STEM projects. Recurrences total 59,000. Next, we have our school service fund. We're at 88% of budgeted revenues and 80% of budgeted expenditures. Currently, expenditures exceed revenue by a little over 73,000. This is about using about 37% budgeted amount we had for transferring from the general fund. We served 35,000 meals in April, averaging 764 breakfast and 1295 lunches per day. Incumbrances for the school food service fund total 142,000. Next we have our slots club collections received in April total 232,000. This was a 9.2% increase from the prior year. and Newton County $3,600 and this was a 23% increase in the prior year. The cash
balance currently is lost is right at 5.7 million. Incumbrances for this loss fund total just over 27,000 and our debt service fund. There are no further changes in this fund in April. All payments that we made for this fiscal year. Total payments for the year are at $651,500. Are there any questions? All right.
