Good evening. Today's date is Monday, February 2nd, 2026. This meeting, originally scheduled for January 26th, was rescheduled due to winter weather conditions. Tonight's meeting was changed to a virtual meeting due to the current winter weather storms we are experiencing. We will follow our normal meeting procedures, limiting public participation to those who have signed up in advance. As a result, participant features such as microphones and raised hands have been disabled for viewers. The January board meeting of the Social Circle Board of Education is now called to order. 003I have a motion to approve both meetings minutes as presented? >> So move. >> Do I have a second? >> I second. >> Any discussion? All those in favor, please signify by saying I. >> I. I. >> Anyone opposed like sign? Minutes are approved unanimously. At this time, I will turn the meeting over to Superintendent Remlard. >> Yes, thank you. Um, first, I'd like to thank our community for understanding and support as we navigated through this winter weather the past couple of weeks. Um, hopefully we're we're towards the end, but I did hear the groundhog. Saw their shatter today. So, we'll see what happens with that. Um, we have our normal superintendent update video that's posted on our website already for the community to view, but I wanted to go ahead and hit some highlights
to that video for for the meeting tonight. Our CTA graduation rate for the class of 2025 was 98.44% which is amazing. We're proud of the work that those students put in, the teachers put in to achieve those results. Um, our eighth grade students attended the CTA stepped up day at the high school recently. They were able to learn about the CTE pathways as well as get an idea of what classes they want to take next year when they enter high school. We also had a variety of events that our school system hosted. Um we had a course option night at the high school where students and families were able to learn about dual enrollment workbased learning or any AP options that they may want to take next school year. We hosted a child find event
where we work with families for early identification for development developmental academic or behavioral delays. Uh we also opened our kindergarten registration so families can get an early start on registering their kid for kindergarten for next year. So we're excited about that. Um we also held our annual spelling bee recently um for our elementary and middle school students and the um we were very proud for all of our finalists who were able to compete in the finals and congratulations to Milo Berdette for winning the title for the social circle city school system. Um, I was impressed with all of them and um, I do not intend on challenging them with any spelling in the near future. Um, but they were all very, very good. It was very impressive. Um, also our wrestling program secured another dual
state championship title. We're very proud of them. I was impressed on many levels with their performance, sportsmanship, and integrity. The most impressive part for me was that they didn't leave Herd County High School until the gym was fully cleaned. All mats, chairs, trash, everything. They were an excellent representation of our school system in our community. So, we're proud of them. And lastly, would remind the community that um February 16th is President's Day. So, I know we just had a couple of Mondays off, but in a couple of weeks, we'll have the holiday for President's Day, which is a staff and student holiday. That's my report. Thank you. >> Thank you, sir. Um, next on our agenda is public participation. However, we do not have anyone participating in this evening's meeting. Um, we will now receive
a financial update from our CFO, Miss Nicole Cross. >> Good evening. Tonight, we will be reporting on November and December because we've moved the meeting to the last of the month. Now, I'll be able to report on the previous month. Um, so this is a combined November and December report for November Freshway Collections. Um this money was allocated to um each school for social studies and literacy. For November we collected $1,79428. And in December the total was $1,960 and this was allocated to each school to the for the student success program. This brings the total to date collections to $188,000. Next we have our financial report. First, we have our general fund. We are 50% of the fiscal year complete. We've received 40% of general fund budgeted revenues and we've spent 53% of general fund
budgeted expenditures. I will say in January we received a majority of our local tax revenue of over 3.9 million. Um, and we have begun our Walton and Newton County Intergovernmental Agreement invoices. Um, and we should have those invoices and funds received sometime in February. Currently, expenditures exceed revenues by a little over 3.5 million. Incumbrances for the general fund are 923,000. Next are our special revenue funds. We have federal awards in amount of a little over 1.1 million and we've spent 62% of those funds. Incumbrances total 107,000. Next is our school food service fund. We are at 48% of budgeted revenues and 44% of budgeted expenditures. Currently, expenditures exceed revenues by a little over 54,000. If you remember, we budgeted about 238,000 to cover their short shortfall this year. I'm happy to say we're only using
about 22% of those funds. So, the changes we made at the end of the last fiscal year um and the director has made um have made quite a difference. Um so, we're excited to see that. In November, we served 33,87 meals and in December, we served 29,014 meals. Incumbrances for the food school food service fund total 318,000. Next is our splast fund. Splast collections received in November for from Walton County was 222,000. This is about a 1% decrease from the prior year. And in December, we collected $210,000 and this was about a 2% decrease from the prior year. For Newton County, in November, we received $3,000 and in December, we received 3100. Both of these are about 11% increase for Newton County. Incumbrances for the SPLAS fund total one just a little over 1.2 million
and these are the um remaining final cost, construction costs for the new school. Next, we have our debt service fund. Um there's no change here. Our next interest payment is due on March 1st. And then lastly, we have our quarterly update on our school activity accounts. Revenues totaled 514,000 and expenditures total 354,000. The cash balance in all funds is 429,000.
