With no discussion, all those in favor, please signify by saying I. >> I. >> Anyone opposed? Like sign. Motion carries unanimously. All those in favor, please signify by saying I. >> I. >> Anyone opposed like sign? >> Motion carries unanimously. At this time, I'll turn it over

to our vice chair, Miss Sabrina Sanford Flint, to share an update from the GSBA conference the board attended last week. Thank you. Last week, the majority of the governance team attended the GSBA 2025 annual winter conference theme from moments to movements, transforming education through governance. It brought together school board members like ourselves, superintendent like our superintendent was there this year and educational leaders from across the state for professional learning, governance, training, planning and cooperation. The I meant collaboration. The conference theme highlighted the shift from individual moments of learning and leadership to transforming governance practices that impact student achievement in educational systems. Attendees participated in a variety of sessions and training opportunities. They heard for motivational and informational speakers who focus on leadership and team work. Schoolboard members also heard directly from Georgia State school superintendent

who discussed statewide initiatives and opportunities that could drive educational improvement. The event off offered opportunities to share best practices, build relationship across this district to support growth for Georgia public education. The conference core purpose was to equip governor's team with practical tools, skills, and insight to lead their district more effectively. In conclusion, the conference provided us a time to engage and build relationships to make SECS the best governing team in the land. Thank you, Madam Chief. >> Thank you. All right. At this time, I will turn it over to Mr. to our superintendent, Mr. Remlard. >> Yes, ma'am. >> We will look at our the superintendent report for this month to show you some things that have been happening across our school system that we're very excited about. What? Thank you. As we do every

month, that'll be posted online for anybody in the community to see and review, but there's a lot of great things happening at social circle that we're very proud of. Next, I'd like to direct your attention over here to to my left. This is the re scholarship class of 2030 recipients. So, at this time, I'd like to invite up Dr. Watkins who is the the director of student services for our amazing school system and if you will introduce us and let us know how this program is. >> Good evening. It is my pleasure to be here this evening to celebrate these five dynamic students. But before we do that, I kind of want to give you a little background information on the Reach Georgia scholarship program. Reach stands for realizing educational achievement can happen. It was

the first um need-based scholarship and mentoring program in the state of Florida that was established back in 2012. The Reach Georgia scholarship program serves promising students in their educational journeys to ensure that they have the support needed to graduate from high school, enroll at and graduate from an eligible postsecary institution, thus becoming vital parts of our state's future workforce. We are proud and excited to celebrate our fifth year of partnership with the Reach Georgia scholarship program. Once these students meet the requirements not only for high school but the requirements for the Reach Georgia scholarship program. They will have a scholarship in the amount of $10,000 2500 for academic year max that they can use for the cost of attendance at any hope eligible postsecary institution here in the state of Georgia. Now that could not

happen without a team of individuals supporting the program. So at this time on behalf of our superintendent, Mr. Rimmerord, our board, and of course our entire social circle community, if there are any donors or if there are any mentors that are here, um academic coaches, if you would stand now, we would like to recognize you and thank you for supporting these fine students. Again, on behalf of our board, our superintendent, and the community, to those of you that are here, several of them could not be here. Um, social circle is a busy place, so there are several things that are going on this time of the year, but we do appreciate each and every one of you. >> Good evening. At this time, I would like to introduce our class of 2030 reach scholars, followed

by our superintendent, Mr. Rimmel, who will indulge the reach class of 2030. Tamaya Allen, Brillan Bolton, Caleb Berg, Journey Clay, and Dia. So students, first and foremost, congratulations on this prestigious honor and opportunity. It's a big deal for you. We're thrilled for you. During my career, I've seen the scholarship opportunity change a lot of young men and women's lives. And I hope that you were able to take the chance that you're given tonight and and have it change your life and give you a head start on a career and uh in any any field that you would like with really little to no debt incurred to you, which is is great. >> Um, however, with a lot of things in life, we have to work for it. And over the next four and a half

years, you're going to have a lot to do to be able to see the benefit of this scholarship when you graduate from high school and start college or any post-secary school, whether it be trade school or anything else. So work ethic is a vital part of success in life. And I want you to know that if you work hard, everything you want will come true in life. You should know it's okay to have an off day though, right? Everybody has a bad day, but you don't need to let that day define you. So if you get a bad grade or if you miss school once or twice, that's fine. It just can't become a habit. Um if you get into a situation where your grades are starting to drop or you're missing school, you need

to reach out to the mentors going to be provided to you through this program and the academic coach. There's a lot of people to support you through that. You've got a lot of family here tonight that will support you the same as well. They're going to have part of this commitment, too. So, at this time, I want to read to you the criteria that this scholarship has that they expect you to do. Okay? >> So, you're expected to maintain the following expectations for the next four and a half years till you graduate from high school. >> And they have some of the same expectations when you get to college or postsecary. They have to maintain an overall 2.5 hope calculated GPA, right? Which is about a B average is a three. You have to have

a 2.5, right? So, a lot of C's are better. >> Have good attendance, have good behavior, and remain drug and crime free. Meet with your assigned mentor at least eight times um a semester. Meet with your academic assigned academic coach at least four times a semester. attend any reach events, meetings, programs, or engage in those activities. Graduate from high school with your peers and acquire a diploma and then enroll in any hope eligible college or in university or post-secary school, trade school, etc. that's in the state of Georgia. Okay? So, if you look in front of you in your folders right now, you will find a commitment form. So, go ahead and open up your folders, take your pens, and I want you to uh signify which Please repeat, I will. If you agree to

what I'm about to tell you, will each of you commit to keeping good grades, attendance, behavior, meeting with your mentor and academic coach, and to graduate from high school and college? >> Good. At this time, congratulations. And if you would, at the bottom of the front page of that form, there's a place for you to sign. If you will go ahead and sign your name. Parents, once we get done here in a few minutes, we'll have some opportunities for some good photos, too. Take as many as you want now, but you'll get a lot later, too. Parents, I'm going to address you right now. So, as we all know, the parent the impact that you, parents, guardians, and family members have on the life of a child is immeasurable and irreplaceable. Your children have a

huge opportunity in front of them, and they're going to have days where they want to give up and say, "It's not worth it." they don't know what to do. So, take the time each day to sit down and talk to them. See if they need any help. If you can help them, help them. If not, reach out to their mentor, reach out to the counselors at the school and the employees and and guide them on how to get that same support so they can see this scholarship come to fruition. So, your guidance and support is vital through the rest of your child's time here in Social Circle City Schools and beyond. So parents and guardians and family members, please signify I will as I administer the following charges to you that are part of this

commitment. Will you commit to supporting your students as they progress through the program? >> I will. >> Will you commit to attending reach events, meetings, and programs, contacting your students academic coach or counselor if there are any issues you believe should be addressed? >> Thank you. Now, we'll be asking you here in a minute to sign the commitment form as well when we conclude our ceremony today. scholars, back to you. If you look in that packet, you have a pledge that says social circle C schools pledge at the top of it. So, if you take out the paper clip, page probably page three. All right. So, that pledge, this has social circle city schools at the top of it. That's some of the same things you just agreed to. We're going to give you this

pledge every year. So you're reminded of the expectations every year that I referred to a minute ago. So if you'll take a minute and look over that pledge and if you would put your name on inside the bottom of it. That's good. >> We're sitting there saying they're reading the contract. That's good. As y'all are signing, board of education, uh, social circle, city school staff, community here tonight, please join me in congratulating the class of 2030 scholars. their parents and GUARDIANS went out the zoom into meeting and we'll offer a break in a few minutes to where we can take some good photos and so everybody can memorialize this night. So at this time I would like to introduce take a moment to recognize our social circle city schools high school competition cheerleading squad for

their accomplishments this year. Our competition cheerleaders are coached by coach Lisa Wright, coach Stacy Clary, and coach McKenzie McGawan. Coach Wright, if you would please come forward and let us know how these young ladies did this year. We're very proud of them. >> Good evening, Madame Chair, members of the board, Superintendent Remlard, and Yes. Thank you for the opportunity to come to represent the varsity competition cheerleading team. My name is Lisa Wright and I'm the head coach of the competition cheer team. I'm speaking on behalf of coach Stacy Clary, late coach McKenzie McGawan, and our athletic director Craig Harrove who I would like to thank for all their support this year. I want to start by saying how proud we are of our ladies for this year for all their hard work and dedication. These

ladies are the most determined, hardworking, supportive group of athletes we've ever worked with. Our cheerleaders had an average GPA of 3.5. Out of our 19 cheerleaders, 11 take honors, AP, or dual enrollment classes. Those 11 cheerleaders combined for a total of 32 advanced level courses. This year, we held our practices at the old primary school gym and worked really hard to make the progress we did. We finished the season with five first place wins including region. We were seated third going into state. We placed nine at the state. We saw growth from the team in every competition. We used our score sheets to improve in the areas where we were scoring lowest. The average score was around 84 which was close to 30 points higher than we were averaging over the last two years which

shows growth our program had made. Even though we didn't place in the top six for state as we had hoped, we look forward to where our program will go in the future. Thank you again for your time and for all of your support. Ladies, if you would come on up near the screen so everybody can see all of our competition cheerleaders. We're very proud of what you've done this year. I was able to go to Mon as well in Washington. You represented our community at the highest level. So, thank y'all for what you did. Are you getting Please. All right, we will now take a brief break um and then we will continue with the business portion of our meeting. >> All right, next on our agenda is public participation.
