Hello Falcons. Mr. Fleshner here bringing you our update from our January school board meeting. Pretty abbreviated agenda uh for January. Not necessarily atypical. We're really kind of getting things ramped up uh to go into next school year already from the district side of things. So, but let's get right into the agenda. uh some of the things I I want to report and the first thing I just really want to to touch on. Uh earlier this year, we rolled out an early retirement package for those qualifying uh teachers and staff members and we had several opt to take that. And what I really want to do is say thank you to all those teachers and support staff individuals for all of their service to the school district, service to our students. uh we're so appreciative of

everything they've done for us and wish them nothing but the best as they kind of move on to the next phase of of their life. So, thank you to all those early retirees uh again for for everything they've done for us. Uh a couple other option or notes I put in my superintendent report. Uh we'll be working on our school calendar for next year. Uh I know I've received some feedback just about um in support of kind of the Monday all day PDS and that's something that I think we'll look to maintain. it's been a little easier for parents to to make plans and those kind of things. So, we'll keep working through the calendar. Something else you might notice in the minutes. Um, Appon and Parkerburg now have kind of joined together um for

law enforcement and police support. And something the school district is in conversations with is about the possibility of working with our local law enforcement to put a school resource officer um in the buildings. not necessarily all day every day. Um but somebody that could also, you know, be present at in the elementary, be present in the Appleton building, be present at the high school. Um here in Parkersburg, um there are some operational um things that we can do and some financial incentives for the district to go along with this and then also maybe help support our local law enforcement. So, more conversations to be had, but really just something we've talked about for a couple of years and now maybe we're getting a little bit closer to uh having that in place. uh budget workshops

have started. So, we're already working on the fiscal year 27 budget and we'll work through all those things. You know, legislators are in session now. So, we'll kind of get it keep a keep a pulse on all the things that are going on down in De Moines as we work on our budget for next year. Uh couple items, action items for the school board. Really not a ton here for them, but one of the first things they did do, they did choose to open up our head football position here at Appton Parkersburg. And that position has been um advertised and uh if you know quality candidates that are interested in maybe serving as the next head football coach here at Appenton Parkersburg, you know, reach out to those people and have them contact uh Mr.

Hoff and Mr. Thomas um here at the high school. The next couple items really are just some board policy cleanup items. One of them is really just kind of setting the stage for some construction and we'll keep you updated on that right now. Really just a lot of planning behind the scenes. Nothing uh really major to report to you. And then just some uh coding updates that as they kind of work through those and share those back out to schools. So nothing of significant changes really just some some section changes and those kind of things. And then inside the consent agenda again um all our early retirees and in there and again I want to make sure I thank all of them for everything they've done. And that's really it for the January agenda. Lots

of things coming up here in February and March. Hope everybody's going to stay warm. We got some really cold weather on the way. And as always, go Falcons.
