Hello Falcons. Mr. Fleshner here bringing you our update from our November school board meeting. First piece I want to start with is to say thank you for all those involved uh in the successful passage of our bond referendum for our upcoming facility projects. for those that were filled out surveys, for those that participated in the facility committee, attended some of the community forums, or just reached out in email or phone calls to ask questions, I really appreciative of all those people that participated in the process. And we'll talk a little bit more about that as we go along. Uh, but I really just wanted to say thank you for all those people um that participated along the way. Now, let's go ahead and get into the agenda. One of the first things we had is
our FFA chapter here, Mr. Putin and 12 FFA students came and presented uh to the school board on their recent trip uh to the national FFA conference and talked about various learning components of all the things, some of the farms that they stopped at and things that they kind of learned along the way uh during that time at national convention. Lots and lots of pieces go into planning all that. So congratulations to Mr. Putin on a successful trip. Um these are great opportunities for our students uh really to get out and kind of see a lot of things that maybe we don't see necessarily just you know in our own school district or really in our own state. So lots of good things happening um with APFA. Some of the agenda items um in the
superintendent report um lots of different pieces will be going uh to the the schoolboard convention this month uh down in De Moine. a couple of days of really good learning um with the school board on various pieces from school finance to to navigating some issues. U so good things happening here with the school board the next couple of days facility pieces uh to kind of talk about you know you might see some work kind of starting on some different pieces. Some of this was already pre-planned before the bond. Some of it just has to do with timing. Um, so you might see a few facility updates kind of happening in and around the school district and we'll get a more comprehensive timeline of really what's going to be involved in the bond issue and the
safe bond and those projects. I'm going to ask for your patience on this because we know we've got months and months of planning that needs to take place so we can roll out and send a bid a very comprehensive plan eliminate as many changes as we can. So, I'm really going to have to ask for your patience on this. We could easily be in an 18month conversation before we see a lot of major major work happening. So, um we'll get that more commuted out to you more later on, but really just kind of a heads up with that piece. Uh some activity pieces to kind of share something we've talked about. We've kind of struggled with some numbers in softball. So, you might be seeing some more meeting notes looking at sharing softball um with
Dyke New Hartford. Um both school districts have kind of talked through this and really right now probably feel like it's probably the best plan moving forward. Uh still need official action here at Appton Parkersburg. But just kind of a heads up that those are some things you might see out there into kind of some of the actual agenda items. Again, working through some policies. Some of you are kind of wondering. It seems like there's always a lot of policies and sometimes it feels like that. Um there's just lots and lots of different things that go into kind of the overall school district and we need to stay on top of those things. um couple of school budget review committee pieces. These are annual agenda items. Um things that we can send back into the state
and get some authority to to get some more money back into the school. Um we did approve a snow removal bid for the Appton site. Uh there's some AEA business really just a vote for a position at the AEA board in agreement with um an organization that doesn't cost any money called When I Grow Up. It's really kind of a unique perspective where businesses can talk about um jobs that they might have open, skills of things they might look for and those get shared to students. So versus students necessarily going and looking at businesses, this is B businesses really come back back in and students can look at them hoping to connect some potential careers and jobs back to our students here at Appton Parkersburg. And the last piece on here uh in the action
items uh first reading um the school board is planning to roll out an early retirement plan for staff. This is something we did do last year. We will do it again this year again pending a second reading and board approval in December. Um there's some fiscal components of all that the district's kind of pre-planned for some of these things. Um and more information specifically to those staff. Um but that was kind of the last action item we had. Other than that, in the consent agenda item, really a couple of just coaching vacancies that were filled um and some financial updates that we've offered to the board every month. So, facility plans are in works. Again, if you've got questions, as always, do not hesitate to reach out to me, send me an email, give me
a phone call. Let's talk about those things. Lots of exciting things happening here at Appleton Parkersburg. Hope you have a chance to come in and join in some of those things as we work our way into the winter season. And as always, go Falcons.
