It's a tremendous honor to stand before all of you today as the district superintendent and we are all here to celebrate the culmination of years

of hard work, perseverance, and dedication by our seniors. Parents, I know this journey to help your children reach this moment wasn't always easy. Thank you for a job well done. [Applause] Graduates, my wish for you today is very simple. I want you to be in the moment. Don't let Tik Tok or Snapchat or any other distraction pull your attention away. Don't rush through this. Soak it in with your classmates, friends, your teachers, and your family. to try to help you stay in the moment. I've I decided to try something different, take a little risk, and I'm going to use your generation's lingo to try to keep it interesting. Parents, your kids will have to explain this next part to you later. Here we go. Bear with me, graduates, please. I'm bringing some main character energy.

We're all here to celebrate just how hard you slay. For real. For real. and keeping it 100. Your drip today, straight fire. [Applause] You're all looking next level and that's no cap. I know, I know this might be a little cringe coming from me, but I'm trying. So, don't be sus. I promise I'm not the Lulu when I say this class is goated. Period. Congratulations to all of our seniors. I'm very proud of all of you. Great job. [Applause] In honor of Junth, a day that commemorates freedom, resilience, and progress. We're privileged to welcome a surprise guest who truly embodies those ideals. Many of you will know him well, a beloved and now recently retired Parkway Elementary teacher. a gifted children's author and a true role model in our community. His book, Standing Tall, continues

to inspire and his upcoming release, Exceptional, is already living up to its name. Please join me in giving a warm yuing welcome to Mr. Eric Thomas. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Thank you. When I came in, uh, one of the security guards said that there's no, don't bring any noise makers in here. That's a gym bay. That's music, not noise. And you all just show me how you feel about it. Thank you. What an honor to be here today. Distinguished guests, graduates, families, teachers, members of UN Board of Education, Dr. Gentile, and of course, class of 2025. This afternoon marks a moment of celebration and jubilation for all your accomplishments, your perseverance, and the long journey that brought you to this momentous occasion. For me, it's also a moment of deep gratitude. I had no idea that

in this chapter of my life, as I as Dr. Jindal said, this is my last day teaching in public schools and I love every day of it. Sorry, but I had no idea this chapter of my life would begin with an incredible honor of standing before you as and yet here I am. And here you are ready to take that next step. You worked hard to reach this point. You should know, you should now have the confidence to move forward. New public schools, your parents and this community have given you a firm foundation on which to build. You don't have to feel fear of anything. It's an African proverb that want that says, "A tree with deep roots does not fear the wind." This week, our nation honors Junth, a day that marks the end

of slavery in the United States. A day when delayed freedom finally met the dignity of human beings who had long deserved it and should have never been denied it. On June 19th, 1865, Union troops arrived in Gston, Texas, and delivered a message that should have been learn should have been heard long before all enslaved people are free. But imagine this. The Emancipation Proclamation was written two years earlier. Junth reminds us that freedom is our right. It's not always doesn't always come swiftly or equally, but it's our right. Teaches us that when justice is delayed, it must be fought and won by any means necessary. That truth, even when silence, has a heartbeat. And that freedom, absolute freedom, requires courage, what you all have, not just to receive, but to defend and extend to others. So

what does that have to do with the class of 2025? Everything. It's everything to do with you. Today, you're stepping into your version of freedom. As Deepo Chopra once said, freedom means choosing what you want instead of what your past imposes on you. You now have the freedom to choose your path, shape your future, and define your legacy. But June Junth teaches us that it's not enough to be free if others are still bound by poverty, ignorance, fear, and injustice. You've earned your diploma and some of you may be earning degrees and other higher level learning, but now you're being handed something more powerful. And I know you can handle it. You have wings to soar beyond high school. Your you have a voice that will resonate throughout the world and a presence that's going

to command your attention. As you know, the world has so many technological advances and we've seen them. I mean like years ago I couldn't find my way out of the house without my glasses but there's lasic surgery so we know how far technology have taken us but we have not gone further in other areas in humankind. Your parents are have your parents unfortunately tried to eliminate certain things but you're still experiencing to this day and now you have to take on that fight. You are seeing things in 3D despair, division and delusion. But now I want you to carry something stronger. I'm not talking about your car breaking down. I'm talking about aspiration. Today is another step towards fulfilling your destiny. You you have discovered the gifts that are within you. Now humbly display your

immeasurable worth. Boldly face all your fears and cast away any and all self-doubt cuz you're as majestic as a pyramid. Reasons to sh awareness. Stay present. Understand yourself like sweet nose honey. Understand your understand yourself as you try to understand the world. You worked hard to change something in yourself. Give that same grace to others. Respect those creating a better path and don't deny their growth if you want yours to be accepted. Last one, action. Dream boldly. Envision something greater than what's in front of you. Take action to the person. Take action to be the person who does not accept mediocrity, but embraces challenge and builds a plan that surpasses expectations. The world will need more than your diplomas and your degrees, more than the businesses you may establish, your medical or law practice. Those

things define what you do, but it doesn't define who you are. We need people have compassion, who use their wisdom and have integrity. You are a generation that just you you don't just post things, you protest. You don't just follow person. You lead people and you don't inherit the future, you shape it. So carry your education like a star in your hands. A dream is realized not only by belief but by a plan. Many people help shape who you are. The we and me means you are part of a generations who want you to go far. You don't have to accept the 3Ds you have seen. You have the power to show the world what it is, what it isn't, and what it should be. May you walk freely with courage. Love deeply with purpose.

Rise boldly with every step you take. Congratulations, class of 2025. This is one of the many moments in your life when you will rise to higher heights. I'm eternally grateful to you. Thank you. You board of education, Dr. Gentile, and of course you extraordinary students, class of 2025. Go for it. [Applause] There you go. [Music] Hey, [Music] I'll ride with the horses. I'll swim through the sea. [Music] I'll climb to the mountain tops. Won't you come follow me? I'll take notice [Music] all that I see. [Music] And after I've come so far, you know where I'll be. I'll fly away. Fly away. Fly away home. I'll fly away. Fly away. Fly away home. [Music] Life is a vision. That's how it should be. The world is a canvas and the choices are free. At the

end of the journey when all is complete [Music] where I [Music] know where I'll be fly Fly away. Fly away. [Music] Fly away. Fly away. Fly away home. [Music] Our dreams last forever [Music] together and that's where will go fly away home away [Music] home [Music] away. Fly away home. [Music] Fly away. Fly away. Fly away. [Music] [Applause] Thank you, Mr. Mentor and our Euing High School choir. At this time, it is my pleasure to introduce you to our 2025 class validictorian, Brian Munos. Congratulations. [Applause] Good afternoon everyone, family, friends, faculty, and of course the class of 2025. [Applause] When I first found out I was valictorian and would have the chance to give a speech, my mind immediately went to all the motivational speeches and inspirational quotes that I've seen and even saved to

my favorites on Tik Tok. I wanted my speech to be just like those, something powerful, memorable, and moving. But the more I tried to write that kind of speech, the less it felt like me. It didn't feel real. I felt like I would be giving out advice that wasn't even mine and didn't even follow myself. So instead, I want to take this moment to simply say thank you. First and foremost, thank you to my parents. They came to this country from Guatemala with nothing but hope and determination. [Applause] They have shown me what hard work looks like, what it means to put family first, and the importance of treating everyone kindly and with respect. Because of their sacrifices, I was given a chance they never had to grow up with opportunities they could only dream

of. And the biggest example of this is that neither of them finished middle school. And now I'll be the first in my family to attend college. [Applause] I owe so much of who I am to them. Their strength, their love, and their belief in me, even in moments when I didn't believe in myself. My parents speak mostly Spanish and may not have understood everything I've said so far. So, I want to tell them this directly. [Applause] And to my friends, some of you I've known since Antile Antile. Others I met in middle school or along the way in high school. Thank you for the memories that I'll carry with me forever. To my closest friends, I will forever remember all remember all the laughs, jokes, calls, Minecraft games, hangouts, and general time together. I'm so

grateful we went through it all together. To our teachers, thank you for pushing us, believing in us, and guiding us even when we didn't have it all figured out. You've made a difference and some of you have played a huge part in getting me to where I am today. So, if there's one thing I've learned is that the people around us matter more than anything. Life moves fast and it's easy to take for granted the ones who've been there every step of the way. So surround yourself with good people, the kind who uplift you, challenge you, and remind you who you are when things get hard. A huge shout out to everyone in the crowd who came to support us today. Congratulations to the class of 2025. We made it. Thank you, Brian. And again,

congratulations. Please welcome to the podium our class saludiatoran, Maline Takis. Congratulations. [Applause] Good afternoon. Thank you to everyone who is here today to celebrate the class of 2025. I am so lucky and thankful to have spent the past four years alongside such an amazing group of students who have made this time nothing short of unforgettable. And I'm beyond grateful to speak here today as the saludiatoran. In the song Big Yellow Taxi, Joanie Mitchell sings, "Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got till it's gone? These lyrics taught me two lessons. One, don't waste the opportunities you are given now. And two, live in the present so that you don't gloom over what could have been later on. Today, I would like to share one opportunity I took which also helped

me learn to live in the present. Whenever spring came and I met with my guidance counselor to create my schedule for the following year, the one class I knew had to be on my schedule was Orchestra class gave me numerous opportunities to do something I loved, play music. Whether I was practicing at rehearsals or playing at concerts, graduations, and other events, I always reminded myself that this was not an opportunity I could take for granted. because of all the fun I had, but also because of how it helped me grow as a person. I learned how to be a leader. When practicing challenging passages in rehearsals, I remember my friends sitting behind me would say they just followed what I was doing. This in turn also helped me grow my confidence. No matter if I

was playing the right or wrong notes, I was always playing strong and setting an example for those around me. Additionally, orchestra class also helped strengthen strengthen my personality and helped bring it out into the world. At least compared to the extremely reserved elementary and middle schooler I was. Though this was not all my own doing, I must thank some of the best friends I made who stuck by my side and helped me come out of my shell. They helped me not only feel comfortable enough to be myself, but they made me want to show off my personality as they were pretty charismatic themselves. Anytime I found myself in their presence, I wanted to soak up every second of it. Whether we were walking to McDonald's for lunch before graduation sophomore year or laying in the

back of the music room when we had some downtime, I wanted those moments to last forever. These feelings and experiences taught me how to live in the present. And once I realized that, I aimed to apply it everywhere. I stopped worrying about my past or future because I knew if I spent my time doing that now, I wouldn't have any memories to look back on later. Joining and staying with the orchestra along with meeting my friends was just one opportunity of many that I took and will forever cherish. I would not be the graduating senior I am today if it wasn't for the opportunities I took. I would not only like to thank just these friends though, but all of my friends for supporting me through it all, giving me the best advice and shaping

me into who I am today. My gratitude for the people around me is not only limited to my friends. I must also thank my family and loved ones for forever loving and supporting me throughout my life. especially my parents for making me laugh a lot and putting up with the perfectionist that I am. And lastly, to the class of 2025. Today is one of the most important days of our lives. Make sure you appreciate the present before it becomes your past. Thank you and congratulations. [Applause] Thank you, Maline. And last, but certainly not least, our class of 2025 class speaker, Issa Benuka. [Applause] Good evening everyone once again, staff, students, family, and friends, and most importantly, the class of 2025. [Applause] This is certainly a special day for everybody here. Whether you're graduating or watching

someone you love graduate, this day means something to you. Now, I'd like to take a moment of sentiment, if you'll let me, to speak directly to my class, my fellow graduates. You are the first and only people I've ever really known. Most of us learned the alphabet together. We made paper turkeys in kindergarten, argued about who could run faster at recess. I know at least half of us have been scammed out of Pokémon cards. And now Brian's going off to pursue software engineering. And Mattie's about to teach elementary schoolers their ABCs all over again. It's all come full circle in the weirdest, most beautiful way. It's like we blinked and suddenly we're here. We've been through a lot together. Quite literally everything from fire drills to lock down drills and actual snow days. Although we

barely got any as time went on. We survived group projects, SATs, spirit weeks, every crazy tick tock trend that some of us participated in and the rest of us had to endure the consequences of. From NHS applications, peer leadership applications, college applications, job applications, and all of those awkward classes we were forced into where we didn't know anyone. The ones where you'd walk in, look around, and think, "Please don't make me sit in the front." It's funny though because those awkward classes turned out to be the ones we looked forward to. Somewhere along the line, the weird silences turned into inside jokes, group chats, and memories we'll probably laugh about for years. Now there's no awkwardness. We're all one big family. [Applause] As time went on, we began seeing people we never thought would interact,

get closer in class, date, or end up building friendships that will last for years to come. I'm positive that a few of you will be present at my wedding. But through all that we've experienced in our schooling careers, we stayed tight. We looked out for each other. We were there for one another through the pain and suffering that comes with high school. Through the sadness and sorrow that comes with adolescence and the nostalgia and longing for the past that comes with growing up. We made it fun when it wasn't. We made it memorable when it felt like a blur. We made our time together matter. And now we're all going our separate ways. Some flying across the country, some staying close to home, some still figuring it out. But that's okay. We're expected to have

our whole lives plotted out by the time we hit 18 or cross this stage. But on a real note, that's just when our lives begin. This place, all of you, all of us are home to me. And while we're about to fly off in a hundred different directions, we'll always share this starting point. This little corner of Euing, where we met one another, but more importantly, where we found ourselves. A part of me will always be right here standing in the hallway before first block joking with all of you like nothing's changing. But everything is changing. But maybe that's the best part. So to the class of 2025, thank you for being my first friends, my forever memories, and the reason this goodbye hits so hard. Continue to stay passionate. I know most of you

and you may know me through whatever means, but I know for a fact that each and every one of us has something we love. Whether that be the community, reading, watching movies, gardening, history, helping each other, however vague or specific your interest may be, stay passionate. No matter how much money we've got, GPA, social standing, etc., each and every one of us have only got one life. So why would you want to spend it being any less of who you are? Be as involved in your interests as possible. Do it all. Try everything. Our life is nothing but the succession of experience after experience. So experience all that you can as you. Each of us are truly one of one. Love and care and feel at the maximum at all times as these emotions are

the cornerstones of humanity. And don't ever let anyone make you feel ashamed for being human. I truly believe it with the whole of my soul that we will all have such a powerful impact once we leave this place if we are to stay passionate and true to ourselves. Whether it's on a local level, personal level, or global, I have 100% confidence that we will change the world. Let's fly, Blue Devils. [Applause] Okay. Hello everyone. So, good afternoon everyone. My name is Sydney Gonzalez and I am also a co-president of EU High Student Council. Miss Sabbo, Miss Jarrett, and Mrs. Lennahan. It has been an absolute honor to lead this class through high school. These past four years, becoming the Spirit Come Champions, not one but two years in a row, has been one of my

favorite memories. Watching us grow, not only individually, but united as a class. Supported by our families, teachers, and each other, we have become people who are more than ready to conquer the world that's outside of Yuing High School. It is now my privilege to present the class of 2025, ready for graduation. [Applause] Thank you, Sydney. Good evening, students, families, faculty, and friends. Today is a celebration, a culmination of years of effort and persistence. And for me, it's also a personal milestone. This was my first year as principal here at Yuing High School after spending the last seven years in another district. Leaving a place where you're comfortable, where you've built relationships, and where you know the rhythm of every hallway is never easy. Change is always hard. But sometimes the harder path is the right

one. I chose that path and I'm so grateful I did because I came to Yuing and met the most incredible students I've ever had the privilege to work with. Students who are smart, determined, and most of all, resilient. Now, here you sit, seniors about to step into the next chapter of your lives. And I want you to take a moment to look around. You are surrounded by classmates who, whether you realize it or not, have overcome some of life's greatest challenges. Among you are students who will be the first in their families to graduate high school. Some of you are graduating at the top of your class. Some of you will be the first to attend college. And some of you arrived in this country not speaking the language, unfamiliar with the culture. And yet

here you are. All of you not just surviving, but thriving. I won't bore you with the usual graduation cliches or lines from a self-help book. You don't need those to validate what you've already done. You've lived the lessons people try to capture in those words. You've faced adversity headon. You've taken the hard road more than once. And you came out stronger every single time. So no, I won't tell you that every journey begins with a single step or that graduation is just the beginning. Although very true, you've heard those before. But I will tell you this, keep doing hard things. Learn from those hard things and lean into that discomfort. Fear is not a sign that you should stop doing something. It's a sign that you're growing. Class of 2025, you've already done more than

many people do in a lifetime. And I want you to truly take this day to celebrate that. celebrate how far you've come, how much you've grown, and how deeply you've impacted each other. Your families are proud, your teachers are proud, and your new principal at Yuing High School. I honestly could not be more honored to have shared this school year with you. Congratulations, graduates. Keep choosing the hard path. Woo! [Applause] Hola adeka. [Applause] Olamid adoya.
