Please rise for the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all. >> Looking for a motion to approve the agenda. >> Move. >> Second. Okay, it's been moved and seconded to approve the agenda. Uh, all those in favor, please say I. I. Oppose. Same sign. Motion passes. Uh, comments and suggestions for citizens. Um, is there anyone here today that would like to address the board? People online, by the way, Carrie Py is watching this online. She was ill. So, sending good thoughts to Carrie. Um, if you have any questions for any of us, you can email us or Mr. studying and he will share that with us as well. Okay, consent agenda.

Looking for a motion. >> Second. >> Okay, it's been moved and seconded to approve the consent agenda. Um, any discussion, questions? Okay, all those in favor, please say I. >> Opposing sign passes. >> Yeah, you just have to call the public hearing and then I can just talk about the rules. >> Looking for a motion to open the public hearing. >> I second moved and seconded to open the public hearing. All those in favor say >> I oppose sign. Motion passes. >> Just real quick before the public included in the packet is the 2627 draft calendar which is basically the same calendar as this year is what it is. So still hasn't snow days but then the early release is on Fridays and then that fall conference week where we have the 16th off as

a top day for conferences and the 19th in service of families have a 4 day weekend in October. >> I I had a question about March. Um it looks like there's a day off on Friday the 26th. Can that connect spring break? >> Good Friday. Oh, that's Good Friday. >> It's a holiday for some of our staff, but it would not be. Yeah. >> Okay. >> Easter moved all over the calendar. It just is what it is. >> I did not make that connection. >> Sorry. Thank you. >> Good question. >> Okay. >> Any comments? >> Looking for a motion to close the hearing. >> I move to close the public hearing. >> Second. >> It's been moved and seconded to close the public hearing. All those in favor please say I opposing sign passes.

Okay. So now looking for a motion >> calendar second >> been moved and seconded to approve the 26 27 school calendar. Any questions or comments before we >> we did have 265 responses from staff survey staff responds to the majority of anybody. Okay. All those in favor please say I >> oppose sign. Motion passes. >> Okay. Tonight we areing a couple of wonderful people in the district that definitely go above and beyond and make a difference in our district. Our school board offices board and selects people that we feel does go above and beyond what you do and how you make a difference here. So the first one is Taran Karen Weber school nursing didn't I did with such but let me read a few things about you so everybody knows. um dead white school

nurse and definitely in recognition of her unwavering dedication, passion and extraordinary calm under pressure. Um in the midst of the whooping cough outbreak supporting five students with type four diabetes which is a challenge but um you're a very nurturing person and caring for student feeding tube. She continues to juggle every responsibility and with her professionalism reassuring smile approachable people want to be around you cares so much about people ability to stay extremely organized focused and encouraging no matter what the day and you never know. Um she has a true anchor. She's a true anchor for our school and our students needs. Her compassion goes far beyond routine care. Um when student experiences a panic panic attack or someone gal reassurance which saddens us but we know that you're there to help. You're very steady. You're

very supportive, very kind. Um and the feel that know that you treat every student as if they were your own. You're creating a safe space at the school. Um and our parents know that you are and you're very protective. We're very deeply grateful for your presence and positive spirit, your exceptional care. Um, very well deserving of the Lancing outbreak. We kept hearing about it, another case, another case, another case, and it went pretty pretty high statistics. Um so you support multiple students with assist students experiencing those attacks and concerns helping all 570 students. Um we know you're still caring for the students and staff too. You're helping them as well. I know very much so. Um so we appreciate driving your sense of experience. I'm sure you collaborate and help other people nurses within the

district know how to handle situations. We do very much so appreciate that um every single day you'd like to say I'm just I'm glad to be a part of the district and it's a great couple yearsful. All right. For the camera. >> Yeah. Come on in. [laughter] >> All right. >> Thank you. Thank you. [applause] board members. >> I would just like to say that as a retired administrator, it's always a pleasure to have somebody Andrew, you can attest to this, being an administrator now, having somebody in that nursing station that can take care of business >> and know that it's taken care of and they'll only come to you when they need to come to you. Uh it's it's a relief from an administrator standpoint to have somebody your talent be in there and

take charge and with thing I know even Joe was involved with that because of what he had to do and I just want to say thank you I bet you every day [laughter] you do it all. [laughter] Our next wonderful lovely person academic advisor um and Edison social studies teacher she is unwavering in helping people and caring about people and I guess that's just literally cares so deeply about kids and their families and helping them our district. Um she's been a teacher at Edison since 2005 and responsible for graduation plans for those credit accumulation and ingenuity courses for our SC um as well as maintain parents helping them understand what's needed and our Scott administration and the bridge staff Um she has worked with wonderful colleagues and I know they say the same too both

and pleas to provide an alternative setting for students and you don't realize how much is So anybody >> I just appreciate all the support from the board. This is a huge program has been obviously around for several [clears throat] several years. I mean it's 20 years 22 years in when I came and there's just a need that our kids have that you guys really don't support. The bridge has amplified that any kids have lost connection somehow. So there's no SC. So it's just beautiful. That's what I would say, Christie, is your kids are North Lancers and you make sure that they feel that and we appreciate that that you're that person that that's their connection. It's amazing when we we try to go when we can. It's amazing to see what you do. >> The

doors came to me just last week, not knowing you're here a cornstone for the success of that program. So gave you very very high compliments on that. >> I would just say that having been down there a couple times for Thanksgiving and and maybe Christmas or graduation. I know our kids benefit by having her there, but all kids benefit by having you down there because you are the mother hen. Uh [laughter] she sometimes tough love. Uh but it's amazing to watch the kids come up to you and give you a hug during the school day and it means a heck of a lot to watch that see that from a from a board member but also as an administrator past knowing that our kids are being taken care of. >> So thank you Christie. Thank

you. [applause] >> Thank you so much. >> Oh, it's such a good part of our meeting. >> Okay, on to bills. Go now. >> You can't [laughter] you can't go on to Bill Jill. >> Yeah. This evening we have $560,163 worth of bills presented for approval for payment. The items I selected to highlight are payment to Bob Rogers travel for $31,685. Uh that's a down payment from the instructional music trip to Florida that the students take. a payment to Mississippi Bena for $63,32 for first semester admission services that were provided by the agency and then a payment to Wilson restaurant supply for $14,66 for new food and table. >> Thank you for a motion to pay bills. >> Second move to seconded pay the bills. Are there any questions for Jill? Um, is that all

out of our account or is thatamilies? >> Um, it's a student activity fund, so it's not the general budget and it's through fundraising. >> Anybody else have questions for Joe? >> Okay. All those in favor, please say >> I sign. Thank you. Thanks. Health insurance. >> The report is included in your packet. short report, but probably the best news on that. It's going to be a really low renewal again this year. And so, uh, looking forward to did a couple changes adding Amazon Pharmacy to our drug cart so that people could use that, uh, which will help lower not only cost for us, but cost for the individuals and then also not requiring um, PA for ADA, generic ADA and HD. There's so many controls within the system itself. We don't need to do prior

authorizations anymore. >> Um, on to reports. So, >> oh, sure. Sorry, >> Joe. Amazon. How does that how does that go? >> Well, Walgreens, I know it's the highest. It is because Iowa changed a law that requires all all prescriptions filled in the state of Iowa to try to protect the smaller groups. They added everybody's charge $10 per refill. Our first film. >> Oh, really? >> Well, Amazon's outside state. So, in actual reality, the law is hurting the small pharmacy in my opinion in this case because now by adding Amazon, people have the opportunity to get a 90day automatically being refill things like that. It'll be easier on them and it will be cheaper because they won't have that $10 fil. >> Okay. >> Very involved in >> No, it's just give the approval. We'll

put out directions for our staff on how to do it when it comes. It's not in February. >> Yeah. >> Anybody else have questions about insurance? >> Hey, come on in. All right, present. And >> there we go. >> Okay. >> Excellent. >> My name is Evan Kempy. I'm a senior at North Scott and I'm also the vice president of growing leaders this year. >> My name is Owen Clinkenberg. I'm a senior at North Scott and I'm the treasurer this year. >> My name is Amelia Bunts. I'm a junior at OSAT and I'm this year's track historian. I'm Kelsey Hilbec. I'm a junior and I'm serving as our uh trucker reporter. >> And today we're here to talk to you about uh the mill, our studentrun, studentowned uh store at the Rick. We'll be using

food products from and multiple other products that we'll get more into further into this presentation, but that's what we're here to talk about. >> [snorts] >> So kind of as uh Evan started um it is a studentbased um s school-based enterprise um it is built for uh real world experiences building soft skills helping reach the community in in another way that Northcot already does. Um some key outcomes are workforce skills like I said building the soft skills uh really being ready for the workforce. um community partnership uh strengthening that connection with the community that Norcat has and things like that. And then program sustainability um through the FF all the money made goes obviously back into the school FFA and things like that. So helps fund like national convention and things like that. So you

saw the saw the shirts. You might be wondering why the mill. Well, if it was an acronym that'd be pretty cool, too. But uh this is what it signifies. So it symbolizes the millions of students that may be coming through maybe working maybe buying things um here in the store. It also uh reflects the huge amount of work tireless work that has gone into giving us our opportunity to have this class in the store and things like that. Um it also evokes imagery for example industry mills, grain mills, things like that. Just connects back to the agricultural roots and the community roots. Um, and finally aligns with Norcott's tradition of calling things like the pits and the lab and things like that. Kind of like a two-cllable thing. So, yeah. >> Awesome. Uh, now we're

going to talk about some of the operation of the Rick. First, uh, hours and access. Uh, we're only going to be open during high traffic times. So during the afternoon when parents would be picking up their kids from elementary school and they want to stop by the brick to grab a some ice cream or uh something that the meat class made. Uh they could do that after school or during specific events where we'd also have high traffic like uh our spring banquet or fall banquet or fall showcase or some other uh special events like that. Also we're open to time variability. This is all pretty not skeptical almost skeptical right now but uh we want to get into the swing of things and we can very much so change from there. Uh we're also going

to offer seasonal products. So with the turn of the semester during the winter we can offer more spring focused products or more winter like or pumpkin spice products. uh store workflow products are going to be received uh approved and logged by students with no teacher help. Obviously the teachers are going to help walk through how to make them in the classes but uh the products are going to be it logged by the students and approved by the students to sell uh >> teacher oversight. I just [laughter] don't oversell there will be teacher oversight. Do not overink it. You guys will be like what? >> Yeah. [laughter] At the bottom it's adult supervision is present during all operating hours. >> Uh students will be managing uh sales, customer service and basic inventory that furthers the training

that we have to go into a more career ready or career ready outside of high school. Uh at the the end of day closeout includes cleaning, restocking and sales rec reconciliation. uh also furthering career ready practices uh payments and oversight operation uh our point of sale system that we're going to use for all uh card or Apple pay transaction is going to be square and we already have that approved >> Mr. Yes. >> Uh, all sales procedures will follow district activity and cash handling guidelines. So, we're going to follow you guys' rules and not do anything bad that you guys are trying to and adult supervision is present during all shifts and and operating hours. >> Okay. So, our class developed a survey that we sent out um a month or so ago and we

found out that our primary market is market is going to be millennial moms aged 33 to 44. And our secondary market is Gen X moms, uh, aged 45 to 56. And we found out from this survey that they would most likely be interested in buying school apparel, sweet corn, and fruit from our store. So, some product development like what we're going to sell at the store. Um, we're going to start with smaller things. We're going to get bigger as we go. But one thing that we're really focused on now is frozen like desserts and frozen food items. Like right now we are doing ice cream, Italian ice, gelato, and some other things like that. We're also going to do some vegetables and herbs like potatoes. Um and then we're going to be working with Miss

Cruz's green hand class so that way we can sell what we're growing in the greenhouse. And then we're also going to be working with um like the build class as well as the welding classes so that way we can sell student projects as well as student art. And we're also going to do laser integrate things. Yeah. >> Um we're our store is very conveniently located because like everyone was touching on earlier as parents are picking up or dropping off kids, they might want to stop in and maybe get a frozen dessert. Um, also students can come in and buy things if after school they want a snack or between practices and that kind of thing. >> Yeah. So, the Rick is going to have all studentade items and so um, every purchase that is made

is going to go directly back to those students and making more stuff. And so, it's going to be staffed by FFA students and it's going to provide a hands-on experience to them in entrepreneurship and uh, business And it's going to continue as a as Norcott's tradition of high expectations and excellence for current and future students. Operation of the student managed business uh January to February 2026. So far uh we're in this stage right now uh planning and readiness. We're working with Mr. honor in our workbased learning class to finalize the store layout, operating procedures, and student roles. Just finalizing everything. Uh March to April 2026, our soft launch or pilot phase. Uh we're going to practice and pilot with Kihe stakeholders. So, I'm sure some of you are going to be contacted to guinea pig

this uh adjust procedures, hours, and mix as needed and product mix as needed. Uh May 2026, we're going to expand our operation, increase hours, product offerings, and based on pilot results. and fall of 2026, we plan to be in full swing of things, operate as a consistent student managed, studentrun school-based enterprise, and expand community access and partnerships, as well as reinvesting revenue into student programs to for future growth for FFA chapter for anybody else who raises money through the year. >> Uh, so this concludes our presentation on student entrepreneurship. We have two flavors of Italian ice for you guys to try. if you would like to. And uh yeah, thank you guys for listening to us. >> So, do you want to explain the Italian ice process? Yeah, you you just buy it at the

store, right? >> Oh, you're Yeah. Okay. So, uh today we used um cost cost effective ingredients to uh make two flavors of Italian ice in our state-of-the-art ice cream making machine. Um so, we mix mixed the ingredients together, blended them up, and then we put them in the machine to freeze. And then after they came out of the machine, we put them in the blast freezer to ensure they're they're perfect and ready to eat. Is it a secret what the flavors are? >> Oh. Uh, the flavors we made for you guys today are lemon Italian ice and then uh some blue Hawaiian punch pineapple Italian ice. >> Following the FFA colors. We've got It's not national blue. It's It's blue and it's not orange gold, but it's yellow. So, [laughter] >> they're trying they're tryinging

different flavors for National Feet Week right now. What are some other flavors that you've made so far? >> Uh, we've made a strawberry mint flavor. We made um chocolate peanut butter or it was chocolate raspberry >> ice cream. >> Yeah. >> Or gelato. Yes. Yeah, you're right. >> And uh there's more. >> You made a mango orange at night. >> A whole lot of good stuff. >> Is it going to be closed during the summer time? >> Uh >> do you guys work during the summer? That might be the >> we we already somewhat do for FFA purposes. So, >> most of likely it will be >> probably around sweet corn time. >> Yeah, most likely later summer, not early summer. >> Something they didn't touch on is uh we did have some professionals come

in like the we met with great house farmers market. We met with Iowa State Extension and a lot of other groups to find out like what works best and they told us to just keep our sweet corn the way it is because it's really successful and not to mess with it. >> Um and so but there were some other things like she encouraged us to get into potatoes. >> Yeah. >> Um so we met with a local person that has a potato planter and such to get moving on that as well. So we're just trying to expand our operations. Um I think it'll probably mostly self-s serve during the summer. Um but like the kids said that um we do have to be careful that it's going to go back to the programs that are

part of it. Uh so everything will have like a vendor ID. So if um it's a industrial tech welding that has like a trailer hitch in there, they'll have a vendor number and it'll go back to their program. It's not going to go directly. They're saying it's going back to the students because they get to experience it, but it goes back to the program that then benefits the students. So >> So when you walk in, where is the store located? >> If you open up the door to the RIT, it's just to your right. It's a wooden door. >> Y >> where the school board plaque is on that same wall. >> It we'll probably now that we have a name and some branding, we'll probably work with Mr. Lane and Michelle to get some

branding so you know right where to go for the student. >> I tell you what, this is so fabulous. This is exactly why we wanted to do this, you know, this facility and you guys are learning so much. Entrepreneurship is phenomenal. It's just the limit really. And how how do you um are looking at doing some advertising? I mean you can do that very cleverly. >> Mia, do you want to talk about your social media work at all? >> Yeah, we have a very s a very successful social media page. So if we have like specific branding like this for the Rick and we have the same thing for the mill then we can have a specific look for it and that way whenever you see that you might already know it's going to be

about the store that you're very interested in already. >> And what you saw was a modified marketing plan. put together as a part of class. So if you're familiar with marketing plans, uh they've taken that and they distilled it down so we're not taking up too much of your time, but they had to put that together as part of class. So >> are you guys so excited about this? >> Yes, definitely. >> Students, >> they're very committed. I I they're they're always so ready to go in class and like today I texted them. I was helping Suzanne actually with her class. I was like, "Hey, I'm going to be like a few minutes late because I'm leaving right from the high school to the Rick and they're already getting the stuff ready for running the

Italian nice and you know, getting everything organized." So yeah, they're great students. >> I get it off the ground working with my a team and we have a lot of students that are signing up. I think even like Joseph signed up I think next year maybe he was the least interested in it. So >> yes sign up for so >> and so we're working with all the programs like we're even looking like we miss about getting art there as well so sell student art. Um, so we're really trying to make it so it's not just the ACT students like they see it as the FA students right now, but we're just trying to get it moving in the right direction and opening it up. So, >> and hopefully and like as those other groups that

sell or art work or whatever that can help work and expand the hours or something. >> Yeah. Exactly. Exactly. >> Yeah. And I think that we'll be able to get to the point where eventually we'll be able to have students that are like students that go to John Deere or like welding apprentices just like they'll this will be their it may not get paid for, but it's still their great work experience and stuff like that. Okay. >> Here's your chair. >> Any other question? >> They're really They're really eager for you guys to try it. If you want it back in the freezer, go ahead. I'm sorry. >> Okay. Yeah. Yeah. >> There's plenty in there. >> All right. We don't want to take them too far. You guys need any other questions for them?

>> Okay. >> Thank you very much. [applause] >> Yes. Oh, you have a spoon. >> They did. >> And the blue does not stain your mouth. >> We have to make sure. So >> good. >> I mean I I presented the other day to them. It's like success like you think it's just going to be this linear path. It's always like up and down and all around and it's you know you just have to learn as you go and they're they're really truly learning what it's like to set it all up and how to like work through like the um department and all that kind of stuff cuz we have to work through that too and all the initial work of >> just the lemon was delicious. Yeah, I would love to get that and

then >> thank you all. Okay, got to move on. >> Sorry, we're going to policy committee recommendations. We've already gone through these how many times? >> Yes. So, this is our second reading. Um there were no questions called in but I did want to point out that all but the community use one were coming from the school board update the laws or changes on different notes at the bottom. Uh the all we did regulations to the use of facilities to update how much we were charging but also adding the RC to it. So >> that's what we're all recommending to approve second reading of all. >> Okay. So looking for a motion to approve second reading here in a little bit. Second. >> It's been moved and seconded to approve uh the second reading of

these uh policies. Any questions? >> All those in favor please say I. >> I opposing sign. Motion passes. Couple resolution. >> All right. So including your packet is a resolution and because it's such a big deal I am going to read it. Uh and I know I'll read it. >> Okay. >> So um whereas the president declares resolution dyed as follows. Whereas the board of the North Scots Community School District deems it necessary and desirable that the district continue to obtain additional funds to be used for the purpose as authorized by chapter 298 of the Iowa code. And whereas the district wishes to take action to allow the voters to approve a physical plant and equipment levy consisting of taxes of all the taxable properties in the school district for an amount not to exceed

$1.34 per thousand of the assessed value in any one tax year for a period commencing on July 1st, 2028. to exceed 10 years. Now, therefore, be resolved that the board of directors of the North Pac Community School District in the county of Scott in the state of Iowa, the secretary be requested to present the following question to the county commissioner of elections for presentation to the voters of the district on March 3rd, 2026. Shall the board of directors of the North Scott Community School District in the county of Scott, state of Iowa, be authorized for a period of 10 years, a levy annually, as determined by the board, a voter approved physical plant, equipment, property tax not to exceed $1.34,000 of the assessed valuation of taxable property within the school district commencing the levy for

the collection of the fiscal year commencing on July 1st, 2028 to be used for any purpose or purpose now or hereafter authorized by the Iowa law. resolution of the orders are part thereof in conflict here here within B and the same or hereby repeal to the extent of such conflicts. So that that's the resolution we're asking to approve tonight which will get us to the vote. Um and also in the packet was the pebble sheet information just for background information. >> Yes. >> Uh that shows how much it would generate and and what the neighboring districts are. This would take us to the same level as the Benorf Peport Pleasant Valley School District. And when I started looking at why would we do that now, it really is if you look at our cost within

Pebble buses. Since I got here, we went from buying three buses for 300,000. Now we're buying two buses. We we need a three bus rotation. Um the technology cost we were at when we first got here one was 200,000 a year. Now it's 300,000 a year, especially after CO we went to districtwide oneonone. Um, we have our fire alarm system at the high school is getting the end of the year light, meaning there are uh fix our parts to fix it. So, when it breaks, eventually it needs to be replaced. It's a $1.2 million expense. All those kind of things come out of roof replacements and things like that. And we know over time that cost has gone up. And so the other thing I point out is even even when the borders approve it,

you still as a board could determine we're not going to take the whole dollar34 in one year. You could take less than that. It just gives us the authority to do it knowing for the next really it's 12 years. We still have two more years. What will cost be? What will a bus cost us eight years from now? Uh and so it's it's really putting us in the position to make sure that fund can continue to fund all the things that we currently fund into it. And as we when you think about our properties and our equipment, we've expanded the district. We have more buildings today than we did 20 years ago. We have more grounds today than we did 20 years ago. So more equipment. So now is the time to >> come out

of here as well. Playgrounds have in the past, but now that we have the pearl, uh they may or may not. That'll be a decision the board will have to make. >> We're doing a lot of those in the next >> We're planning on doing every one of them in the next year. So, some of that could come out of Absolutely. >> So, this goes to um 2038, >> correct? Yeah. >> Can you remind We do this once every 10 years. >> Yep. >> Can you remind me what the voters are going to see when they look at that? >> Exactly. that paragraph in the middle. That's exactly what I will see. >> Okay. So there they don't do they necessarily know what it is today. >> We will we will do presentation. We'll put

it on our website. So we'll do presentation. We'll schedule one. We do have one public forum all beforehand, but we'll schedule one for people can come in and then we will put it on the website so that people know what it's been. [clears throat] Typically in the past um it's only a 50% vote but typically they pass 70 or higher percent of people voting in those elections. Now what's different about ours is we're also asking to go up uh 37 cents and so you know we'll want to make sure the last time we ran one we just put it on the ballot it passed. We didn't even do a presentation. This time we will need to make sure information gets out to the public. So they see that N7 number not the.3 >> they'll see

on the they'll they'll see on the correct >> and there are voting sites. >> Yeah. So we'll have three voting sites D and Eldridge. But any site in the county you could actually vote at. So a person at work who's near a voting site could stop there in the county. I think they're important all their voting sites. They're not by precincts. They're by area. So any place you can >> March 3rd and we really try to spread it out in terms of location, right? I mean because you you combine park fuel will probably get elders which is a large percentage it's usually a small percentage of voters >> you know last time we did located for people to >> and we don't the county wanted to do that to lower the cost. >> Yeah. >>

Uh because otherwise if we did every single one it's going to raise we're the ones paying for our portion of it. It raises the cost and they know the turnout's low in the last time. This is what we did too. And so we did need push them. They know we want every single sign because we know it's been it's worked last time. And it it really is for our district. It's makes it an easy location and people are driving through Eldidge all the time or if they're on way home. They can stop in Princeton or not. >> Okay. Looking for a motion. Motion to approve the PEL resolution. >> Second. >> It's been moved and seconded to approve the PEP resolution. Are there any other questions or comments? >> Okay, we need a roll call

vote on this. So starting with >> Ehart I Lind. Motion passes. >> Thank you. >> Business. Uh >> so first up is uh January 26 looking at moving a board meeting from Monday to Tuesday so we it's 10 day on the hill. Uh um I know I'm signed up for I don't know who I know Frank is has signed up for it. Uh I would love to see three or four of us vote but of us go but I mean we could cross our fingers we make it back in time but uh it would be easier if we just move to Tuesday. So I'm recommending we move the board meeting to Tuesday. >> Yes. >> Okay. Make a motion to remove the board meeting from 26 to 27th of January. >> Second. It's been moved

and seconded that board meeting. Any other questions? All those in favor please say I. Oppose. Same sign. >> If you can go, please let if you haven't let Trina know yet, let her know. uh Prince Square and Michelle, I'll let her do an overview, but remember when we had the strategic plan coming from our feedback from our parents, it was how can we streamline our communication? We communicate a lot, but it comes from all over the place. When you think about elementary coaches and everything and so um I believe the schoolboard association partnered up with Square and that's how we originally got in contact with them. Uh Michelle did the research uh behind it. uh did the bad company do some presentations and then presented it to the administrators and now we're at point of

saying we believe this will takes us in the right direction that our parents want to see. Chuck, you want to give a quick overview? >> Sure. Um so from their um synopsis they're a unified communication platform. So what I was looking for is something that's going to streamline all of our information into one space. Right now, we have multiple apps, multiple ways of receiving information. We'll not only be able to take our newsletters, our texting, our email communication, but things like Peach Jar, everything will be held within one central hub. Parents will be allowed and caregivers will be allowed to choose how they're communicated with and all the information will be at one central source and one central feed. So, if you have a student in elementary school and a student in junior high and

high school, right now you're getting three sets of information. All of this will put everything into one hub and you can choose how you're going to receive that. So, if you get a link in a text, if you get an email, whatever your choice and preference is on how to be communicated will come from one source within Eric Square. We're going to do a if it's approved a slow roll out um starting right away and then we'll launch it to the parents and caregivers as well as staff in August. So this isn't something we're going to jump into immediately to make people learn. We'll make sure that our staff is trained well. Um this will also give us an option to have twoe communication if we choose between a parent and a a staff member.

So if a teacher has a question or a parent has a question, it'll go directly to them and they're not responsible for using their own personal cell phone or personal information um you know uses like the telephone, it'll all go through parent square and it will all be tracked. Um it was kind of a no-brainer for our IT department. uh both Josh Tips and DM Marzo recommended it um after they saw the first steps through it and I didn't really receive any push back at all or any big questions from our admin team. Um just to kind of go back to what Joe was saying about the uh three-year operational plan. I believe that this will strengthen our relationships by working together through communication and partnerships. Um and yes, the IASB did recommend it. We

will receive their annual discount. um for our roll out and um they've been a really really great team to work with so far. So um if you have specific questions I'm I'm happy to answer them. >> So this be where a coach can set up their team and all the information >> that is correct. Yes. >> So we'll be able to one place rosters, attendance, all of that will go into one space and it does work directly with the information system we currently have in place. So it sits on top of campus. >> Will they um what's the right word be forced to say like if they're using the mind right now, are they going to be giving the option you can use parent square or mine? >> No, we'll we'll ask that all coaches

or all staff that are currently using other applications slowly transfer over into parent square >> and we'll still have infinite campus and we'll still have canvas, right? >> That's correct. those pieces won't be affected on the back end if we so choose to streamline or eliminate one piece because infinite campus goes you know better this direction I I can't say anything about infinite campus or canvas but I do know that it works directly in on top of infinite campus >> but not replacing one of those this is just for community >> correct >> yeah those are our LMS and then that is our student database system that's out of parent square is to help with communications >> so it is replacing Yes. >> And band and all of those other things we heard you did

a great job. But sometimes I got four different ways of being communicated with kids [cough] activities [clears throat] or different buildings and >> trying to make it simpler for everybody. >> Sounds like you've heard what needs to be done. >> Anybody else have a question for Michelle? >> I think the future is going to go away. What else are we going to stop using? Um, so right now we [clears throat] we can we can still use some of the applications within it until we're ready to release them. But, um, S'more, Peach Jar, my social media scheduling tool, which is several thousand dollars a year. Um, all of those pieces will directly connect in to the interfaces that we're currently pushing out separately right now. >> But you'll get rid of those once we roll out.

Do you know what the is what the cost difference is? The >> I have that all broken out actually. on Dan's desk right now and I did not bring that for this but I know that I'll give you a rough estimate right now. Um it will replace if we do the website as well because they are a website provider and so it just makes sense in when we finish our contract that's pre-existing with vital site it'll be $25,000 in savings. >> Wow. Wonderful. So, we'll pay for plus a little bit more if we add to our website. Um, but without the website, you're looking at 10,000 at least. >> So, 10,000 pay for those three. >> Correct. >> Yeah. >> And we pay another 15k for our website. >> Correct. I would just like to

ask Andrew what he thinks about it since he's going to have to be sort of high school but making certain I think they do so much. >> Yeah. I think I think just what she said too is as I now have a daughter at Alton Sheper. I get a newsletter send my newsletter out. It'll be nice at some point if you have multiple kids at multiple levels. But yeah I we have some more newsletter and then Jason puts out his and coaches have to I didn't ask. I think I think it's it's a no-brainer in my opinion. >> Any parent input that you have? >> Um, we do have a couple of parents that were on the communication committee that looked at it right away. For example, the stewards there. It, you know, fit multiple

roles and Jessica was one of the people who kind of spearheaded the idea of having many students in many places to have one central hub. So, she's looked through it and said, "Let's go." >> Will the cutie still see stuff pop up on Facebook in different places? >> Oh, absolutely. Yeah. This will allow me to take one flyer and post it within parent square, but then also send it out into social media >> and edit it when there's a mistake by another person. [laughter] >> Ideally, yes. >> Any other questions? >> Thank you, Michelle. So, looking for a motion. >> Motion to approve parent square. Is that what you need to hear from somebody? Okay. Second. >> Okay. It's been moved and seconded to approve parent square. Um there are no other questions. All those

in favor, please say I. I. >> Oppose. Same sign. Passes. Thank you, Michelle. Um guest. >> Yeah. included in the as the new guest staff rates that we want to have approved tonight. We've taken the teachers uh and raised it up to 155 to 125 and 155 to 185. We really only have two I know it breaks it down into three, but we have two two rates of pay for for setting now and which is what we had. We just upped it. Um and then we also uped uh several of the categories that were below $15 uh to starting and bus drivers were paying the route pay for step one. instead of paying hourly uh is what and the reason we're doing this we haven't done four years in the compet we're falling high competition

and we have been moving in some bus drivers and some subs as a result of falling uh the other one we could add is we we have not changed the mileage rate since I was here was at 40 cents and we took 55 cents which is still well below the IRS amount right now. >> I just had a question about the stuff on the bottom the gas staff pay a schedule. Those are some I'm not sure what all that means. >> Those are just different positions that we have at different times mostly for our fine arts and stuff. So if we host the speech competition, we know how much we pay the speech debate judges for example. We don't do that every year. Um if they have a pit, we know what the pit conductor

makes, but we don't nor we don't always have a musical with a pit. So that's what all those are at the bottom. >> This is like per day. Uh um well some is like the the pick conductors for the musical >> the whole pack the whole musical. So the practices and everything for that >> play drums for $1,200. >> The the contest I will the contest would be that drum line. I didn't know if we've had drum line or when the last time these things are just carryovers when we had them. >> Okay. I just thought those numbers they were a lot larger than some of the other numbers. >> Yeah. They're not per hour. Yeah, >> they might be per day, but like I can play a drum >> verarily. Just special. [clears throat]

>> Okay. Um looking for a motion. >> Approve the revised 26 guest. >> Second. >> Okay. So moved and seconded to approve the guest staff. Okay. Any other questions or comments? All those in favor, please say I. >> Opposing sign passes. At risk. >> All right. I'm going to turn this over to Heather. She worked very [clears throat] hard on it for the last probably two, three months. >> Yeah. >> Since got back to school and so I'll let her just hit the high points. >> Um I worked for Chad Jones and Dan Mars to get in for them as well as other staff members. Um the template that we're using is a state template. So it was given to us by the state. Um so a lot of this like the intro all of

that was um provided with the template. What it go what we're really trying to do is put into the plan a lot of the stuff that we're already doing but we're putting in a plan format. So we it goes from kindergarten on up. Um, we're trying to ensure that all of our students are receiving the supports and services that they need in order to graduate from our schools and our end goal is graduation and success postful secondary. Um, so several of the items they asked us to identify um at risk which it's not a simple formula. the state gives us a percentage based on our budgets >> it um after we would never say like because of low grades you're at risk right there there's other factors so we want to factor in multiple factors

as we do that uh the second part of the plan is just how we're going to um identify but also monitor you know we are going to do our interventions we're going to have progress monitoring we're going to We have a district MTSS team that oversees the district's data and then our buildings have BLT building leadership teams that oversee their building data. So, we'll keep an eye on that. Uh the district will look at it quarterly. Builders usually look at it some some piece of data. I'm sure we're on track. Um it goes into listing the different interventions. So the interventions that we chose to put on this plan, yes there's academic interventions, but we kind of um separated out some of those for the social emotional um regulation strategies and clumped the academic under

like reading intervention or math intervention. Also, our Edison program is part of our at risk, our bridge program, the new therapeutic learning classrooms that we have the junior high to high school and we're starting one and Armstrong is hired for that position. They will start in two weeks, I believe. Um, so that's part of this plan. Then the part on staff, I worked with Joe on this. So what we did is we took the staff positions that we believe are funding these interventions and the programs and those are the positions that we will use our atrisisk budget to fund. So we did some switching in the past. Um it was done a little differently. So we kind of math interventions are new. They didn't exist before. So we um realigned our our budget but it

didn't seem to affect the general budget at all. It kind of was a switch as well. When you go to the building staff plan, there was a question about the FTE piece of it. So it says, for example, 11 reading interventionist, but it says only 2.63 FTE. That's because some of our interventionists are funded out of title one. Percentage of that comes out of TSA. So that FTE is what is being funded with the atrisisk budget. So that's why those don't it kind of looks there and then um we had our program percentages the expense I took right from what Jill's going to share with you next >> and I keep like should I talk or should I >> I know I was like which way are we doing this where are we going in

and then the outcome measures I used um we chose to use the Iowa performance profile data because that is what the state measures us on. So um the bottom major where that comes from. So next year we'll get it a little bit later because they're switching the way they do is so probably October, November, then we'll look at these goals and see where we're at and make adjustments. The plan will be each year to look at this plan and make revisions rather than waiting several years like we did in the past year. >> Any questions? when would you look at it? >> Um, whenever that Iowa school performance profile comes out, like I said, we're monitoring things monthly at the building level and quarterly at the district, but those comparisons at the very bottom, >>

right? >> That data came from the Iowa school performance profile data that will come out once a year. >> Probably October, November should be the time you could expect just the same as when we do the date, the report we had last month. >> Okay. >> They said it might be a little later this year. norming the Iowa test again. So, I'm not sure when they're going to release results this summer. >> Actually, he said they had a couple good >> We're really excited. Yeah, it sounds like [clears throat] >> Anybody else have questions for looking for a motion to pass the atrisisk plan? So second move and seconded to approve the atrisisk plan. Um questions or comments. All those in favor please say I. >> Oppose same sign. Motion passes. Heather. >> Yeah. So

this completely correlates with what Heather was talking about and like she said we worked together. Uh the at risk budget and application of SPRC. This is an annual item. We've always this in the past. Um, it looks very similar to what you've seen before. We've always funded it like just like she said, Pride Recovery, Edison Academy, instructional support services, and summer enrichment program. The instructional support line item is the one that is just made up of some different staff members. We looked at every single person as you they're all general fund paid. We made sure it did not affect the way we moved the staff that it really only affected the general fund general dollars and at risk shifting between those. So like we didn't take a special ed teacher that spended through that bucket,

you know what I mean? Like we looked at really close and it worked out. It just happened to work out tremendously. Um so we do get 5% um of the cost per pupil times our enrollment to be used at risk funding. Uh as in the past, our at risk budget is just running slightly higher than our uh what our a lotment is. So I'm asking to be able to go to STRC for 100% of what we are allowed to get and then the general fund will just make up that slight difference of you know 10 or $20,000. That's no different than what we've done in the past. Um, so this evening I'm asking for board approval of the MSA of 1,169,483. >> Make that motion. >> Second. >> Okay, it's been moved and seconded to

approve the atrisisk NSA application. Any questions for this program? >> Yes. >> Anybody else? Okay. All those in favor please say I. Oppose same sign. Motion passes. Mr. >> Awesome. All right. Dill I already mentioned it earlier. So the board meeting you can go go to that. Um our public forum. So what we have now on is February 2nd we'll be at Dahu at 6 pm. On March 10th we will be at Long Grove at 6 pm. On April 14th, we will be in Mccausland at 6 PM. And on April 9th, we will be in Princeton at 5:00 pm. And I'm still waiting to hear from Scott Campbell. Uh waiting to hear back from uh the uh county supervisors. We'll set up one there um for for them and get those two set up. Still

working on just getting all the mayors together for some board member get together. We take a look at a session. things that we should talk about together. Um, and then we'll also be scheduling one public at least one public meeting for the panel. But those are what we have on the calendar so far. And then the last big item is our strategic plan update. I put the hub just right in front of you so you can see and and almost everything set on track. The PLC committee actually finished up last week that that information will be going to uh the interate problem solving and next year the PLC trainings and stuff will be done at building level time at all five elementaryaries. The ALI pilots are still are going on and we're on track uh

to be have an incision made this spring. The science committee is still looking at the standards. They will move into probably piloting curriculum next year. Uh and AI saw tomorrow morning Dan has an AI committee meeting and uh tomorrow morning here he continues to work on AI for us uh community based partnerships Andrew is here tonight but he's that's working with our schools uh and trying to increase kids opportunity come there and I think Belle and Marquette maybe >> not Marquette just one kid from >> one coming down for it again >> uh diesel diesel diesel diesel knows but he's going to leave diesel and I told him that would have better chance of seats. We only have 15 MT seats currently. There's more diesel up to probably 26. >> So, we're continuing doing that.

Obviously, communication you heard tonight. That was a big step working towards that solution, our strategic plan on streamlining it. Uh the secondary continues to work on uh um streamlining um our standards based and how we're reporting out and then making those changes. I think after this report card they were going to be re reooking at feedback we're getting from that um transition. Uh obviously Tracy you have two meetings this week and next our board meeting exempt session as well as session by email that'll continue that process. Um, as Bill wraps up, she'll be working at our PO system. And then on the back side, uh, Bass Bridge Suites, Character Strong, and Chronically Ass. It's all is work that continues to happen. And then, not only do we have our district, but I also had that

section on there. Buildings have their plans that are tied to district plans. And just so you know, we track that. We talked about this once a month that our hour of admin meetings where we have that every building on track doing working on the goals that they're supposed to be working on. So I just wanted to update just you know we work hard on having a strategic plan. It isn't just a document sitting on a shelf. That's the work that we do and I know it's as much for the public as it is for you because a lot of my email is really based off of those kind of answering those questions. I just wanted to update you on that. >> Thank you. >> That's all I have for tonight. Okay. Um, more comments and

correspondents. Anybody from anything from New York? Some nice thank yous there from the Schneider family. Um, anybody? I attended the I'm not exactly sure which class it was. I know it was the personal finance class interviews with Joe. I think you did a session at that was really fun. I um the students I had were all going into trade jobs and they were very well prepared to do the interview. So that was good good hour. I enjoyed it. >> Yeah. Thanks for coming over and doing that with the kids. April Ky does such a great job. She had that that and then we had she had that speaker series that she did too and we had fine art speakers from the quad cities come. >> I heard you were one of the speakers. >> I

was not. I qualified but I recruited two two people that came on. We have Chris Ling a comedian and then Dave Jabs our teacher I taught with at West or he was at Northwest. Anyways, it was really good. There kids in the auditorium and they did a good job. Well done. So, April did a good job. >> Um, and we have a young man here who can get his signature from any of us at our board meeting. I should have introduced you earlier, but you can just ask any of us to sign your sheet. >> Okay. So, the other thing is the board's um at my house the 25th. I'd like to know who can come >> and I'll have to sign up for side dishes. We're not letting >> supply all the >> but

I don't care. I don't care. >> Uh the 25th Sunday. Yeah. >> Okay. But isn't that the day on the hill? No, that's the >> Oh, yeah. We'll have a couple together. >> Just let me know like soon within the next Anybody else? >> Looking for one last >> motion meeting. >> All those in >> favor.
