I'll go ahead and then call to order the May sorry that's okay for >> call to order the May 13th uh school. >> Uh yes, let's do uh Joey Goodrich. Yes. Chase Rolling. >> Good. Neely, >> yes. >> Jenny Jordan, >> yes. Josh, >> yes. Approval of the agenda. I don't think there's >> no amendments or no changes. So, if somebody to approve that motion to >> approve Chad, >> yes. >> Chase, >> yes. >> Jenny, >> yes. >> Josh, >> yes. Kevin. Yes. >> We most I guess welcome any public or visitors think we have any tonight. Uh no special question presentations. So we will move on to reports. We have printable reports from everybody if anybody has any questions. student services uh superintendent report. >> You know, if you look at my report,
if anything, take note of all the additional things that have recently added under the building project update. Okay. So, >> I didn't stop. Okay. But it's >> uh I'll get it to you, but there's a whole list of um under the building project. It's a pavement work. Um we've met with SVPA and DCI uh recently, like a couple times a week. And so they've got new um blueprints and updates and they will present all of that to the board next week. Some of it's changed, I think, for the better. um they're going to have to talk to you a little bit about about service and I'll make sure that you get the report um you'll see if you got time we'll put it up otherwise next week at that Wednesday session they'll go over um
everything in detail so the two companies will be here SBPA and DCI uh and I go through the whole plan some of it's really pretty I think it's still in schematic conceptual but I think come It's going to be >> that's at 6:00 here. >> Yes, 6:00 here and then we have our regular public session follow the last two. >> The last thing if anything just kind of a congratulations to Natalie Ritter. She's our head of nutrition. She will be on the SNA Iowa board of directors. So that's the school nutrition association. So she's on their board. That's all I have. I apologize. Beth did send it to me. I did not get it attached. So I'm attaching it now, but I apologize. She did get it. Okay. Uh we're on the board report. Does
anybody have anything? I went to the end of year banquet today. There was what, six total, 2, two, and two. Quite a few uh years of service, pharaohs, nurses, janitors, teachers. So, always it was sweet to see those people with all those years of experience uh leave. But it was a good little gathering. >> Yeah. Nice. I think that's all I have. >> But it's a report. >> Uh, yeah. >> Sorry, I'm lost with printed everything off my on my desk. Um, so our financials, we just completed April. So we just have May and June. So we almost finished with our fiscal year. We have two months left. Um we received a large amount of revenues in March because that's when property taxes all arrive from everyone's second payment of property taxes. So um we
are in a very stable position. We have uh spent about 72% of the budget and we have about two months left. So we're doing okay there. Our general cash um we have about 6.86 in general fund cash and we have uh overall with all of our funds about 14.2 months. Um cash on hand is about 125 days. So we always like to at least be around 90 days or greater which gives us about three months worth of cash. We're at 125 which is where we were this time last year. So, um, we're pretty even with even though our expenses are slightly up, our revenues have also been up and so we are about where we were last year at this time. Um, nutrition is growing. Uh Natalie has done a good job managing that and
so we got a healthy nutrition fund and we're hoping through this new kitchen new project they're really doing with Washington we'll be able to use some of those funds to really do a really nice kitchen to approve financial Okay. >> Yes. >> Chase, >> yes. >> Jenny, >> yes. >> Josh, >> yes. >> Jody, yes. >> Uh, the next item is the consent agenda. Several items there. If anybody has a specific one for discussion or think spend a moment and open up the open enrollment. Can you see what that looks like? >> Anyhow, kind of nice to see the large number of of applications coming in. I'm also being told um the homeschool the ASAP uh teachers are saying that they've got quite expect I've met with them. So as Lisa I think they're going
to try and they need to bump that. >> Yeah. Uh I'll bump that up another day so they're at the top of the top of the families they can serve. So they need to I think she's leasing Lisa in that contract. So we can >> true >> they'll be out of >> some more if they're there. So >> so we've got an increase already um of open enroll kids I feel like going to have more so we may just stay stable on our numbers um lose a little few but we're not going to lose the same l think we have anything else or a motion on that consent? >> I move we approve the consent of items. >> Second. >> Josh, >> yes. >> Chad, >> yes. >> Chase, >> yes. Jody. Yes. Jenny. >>
Yes. >> The only discussion item is school board recognition month. Yes. President. Thanks for everybody. It's uh I think there's some gifts from various people but it's uh appreciate you for stepping up and takes some time and it's doesn't go unnoticed and I appreciate for getting through the evaluation superintendent tonight. That's a cumbersome uh process but I think we made it through and so I appreciate everybody and uh trying to just continue doing what's best for the kids. Action item. A the agreement between uh Atlantic Community Schools and DCI group. I think this just another formality from >> a lot of emails going back and forth between DCI and our school attorneys. So see through both of these jobs very little. So, I think as long as our attorneys are satisfied with the language, um,
I would recommend for protot kept me in the email loop to see what it looks like. So, felt good about the just the communication between attorneys and CI. I move to approve agreement between Atlantic Community School District and DCI Construction. >> Yes, Steve. >> Second. >> Chad, >> yes. >> Chase, >> yes. >> Jody, >> yes. Jenny, >> yes. >> Josh, >> yes. Uh, item B is a geotech agreement to drill and sample soil. We've done um this is outside of the um as I've been told outside of just the bond uh cost. So as a district we paid for the cost of just the soil sampling or boring um that's done before we start to sell the bonds. That's pretty pretty normal. The company that was recommended is the company that um DCI um
even Snider likes. So tiny highly recommended they used before. >> What do they do about that one that it said might not be accessible? >> Don't know. Maybe when they give you back and they demo that area they can lower it. >> Oh okay. Yeah, I've seen these companies come in and they they do so samples all over where they've marked it and then they'll come in and do additional >> Yeah. Yeah. I move to approve the geotech agreement to drill and sample soil borings. >> Second. >> Chase, >> yes. >> Jenny, >> yes. >> Jody, >> yes. Josh, >> yes. >> Chad, >> yes. Uh item C is uh 28 sharing agreement with Harlem Community Schools to employ a special education administrative assistant session. >> Had talked about this prior a couple times table
supplies. >> Harland school district talked to their superintendent and said how have you used this person in the past? She said that she uses um the person with a lot of Medicaid applications and somehow the person can buy her salary. So all that person's salary is covered. That's good for us. So I decided to do that. Um she also pulls a lot of data off achieve does that uh analyze the interactive reports. I guess there's just a lot of stuff that um as height on each for us as a district. So I thought it was going to cost us 17,000 a she just it's about 17,000 right? Um and somehow she files reimburseed she files for work and salary through Medicaid is what Harland said. So with Medicaid covers Boulder that'd be great. I don't
know how she does it but that's what Harlon says. They've been she's been doing math for years filing it through Medicaid. Another piece of it, Harland said that she when she started Harland was paying for getting about 100,000 in Medicaid and after she got going up just knowing how violent and helping people fill out forms they're now over 300,000 newly claiming anything else Whatever. This is the little flyer that the a sent out on position film. We want to hold discussion on that since there's been personnel changes. You make a make motion. >> Well, if we make a motion, you second. We can have discussion. >> So, you make a motion to talk about it. You second >> and then you make discussion and then you >> can talk about well I think that position
is probably needed now. lost. Um I think and I think like you said >> yeah we worked with Karen in the past um when she still works at AA she's super helpful especially count making sure that we have our count she's always been really helpful and she's said the only the only thing that if we're going to hire another sty congrats by the way >> but uh then we needed like we fill in that position >> or going to try to >> I don't know how we get it I think I really don't think we would be able to find a good person who fill that position this late season we're struck on dealing with positions. This is an admin >> is that those some of those through and maybe I'm not right but some
of those through the AA are kind of pay to you. I mean could we get out of I mean if if >> you know I mean if we're not utilizing those I know that everything kind of changed a couple years ago. So, um, you know, with the AAS and how they, you know, I would think that they would, >> well, we're deciding, I mean, if we did have a candidate, we did decide to replace that, you know, >> I haven't had a chance to talk with the leadership team to say, "Okay, what's what's our plan?" Uh, knowing that it's going to be very difficult to hire, advertise, and hire somebody middle of May. What do we do? Because, you know, uh, position covers a lot of different programs. Um we're moving those programs forward really
fast. U we still have to have somebody to help each of those programs along so they don't kind of lose their momentum tag all I think that's a session that will work on as an admin and come back to the board and kind of give me ideas like here's what we think we could do but I really don't think we can fill that position. make it advertised, but most people have signed the contract. So, I'm going to move then that we agree to the joint sharing agreement with Harland for the special education administrator associate. I'll set him. Okay. Chase, >> yes. >> Chad, >> yes. >> Josh, >> yes. Jenny. >> Yes. >> Item D is an amendment to the behavioral behavioral after services agreement between us and tella health. >> I don't know if
you had a chance to look at that agreement. Anyhow, it does not cost the district thing. Diesel Health, we just started the year, right? Can you guys use some of it at your building? It's a service for kids. Kids going to receive their therapy right there. It's an iPad. They provided the iPad even it's been a nice little add-on for our kids that find services otherwise because the weightless it's been a nice little for us or no cost especially how is how are we getting it for free that time? >> No. Was it like a brand health or something for us? C health has been really good for the school finding different resources, applying for grants and working as a partnership with the district. We've done a lot of things with that. We're still in
the planning stage, but we've been pull >> I move to approve the amendment to behavioral master services agreement with Hazel Health. I'll second that. >> Okay. Jenny, >> yes. >> Josh, >> yes. >> Chat, >> yes. >> Chase, >> yes. >> Jody, yes. >> Item E is uh to the approval of a banned trip to Florida. So, >> is that every other year? Every third year three years they do it normal time >> the parade too isn't it? >> Yeah. >> Not this one. That's the man. This is one when they go to Disney they get to perform at Disney couple times where just a stage opportunity. I'll move to approve the management of Florida. >> Okay. Josh, >> yes. >> Chad, >> yes. >> Chase, >> yes. >> Jody, >> yes. J, >> yes.
>> Item F is to approve the 27 B schedule. >> Slight grease on just the U lunch prices by TS chart. I move to approve FY27 fee schedule. >> Second. >> Okay. Ch. >> Yes. >> Chase. >> Yes. >> Shody. >> Yes. Jenny, >> yes. >> Josh, >> yes. Item G is a new board policy 605.7 which is competent competency based education. >> Uh you want me to talk about it? >> Yeah, go ahead. >> So it' be a first reading. It's kind of a new policy out there. Um >> remember we're trying to work on some different things at the high school to help kids be successful. um help certain groups of kids feel like they belong into that whole thing of what we can do. How can we change trajectory, have them kind
of move forward by the time they graduate, especially the incoming freshman or the year of 2030. How do we get them all graduate 100% graduation on their way successful? So, um looked into some things in competencybased education. um working with the department of ed is kind of a new thing where uh we coordinate classes. We've already got some teachers lined up that are excited to do this. Um but the kids would be doing and learning. So like English would be doing the same standards as other kids in other classes, but it would be geared more towards uh career workbased instead of you know writing on paper. they'd be writing on something that they felt was directly related to some job they would have in the future. So, it's competency based and then they're um evaluated
on their uh competency on just a skill. Um part of the program also shows that uh we would have them do a lot of work based study out in the community. That's what we need these kids to do and feel like they've got certain things that they have to look forward to. Um Heather McCay and Andy Mitchell and Amber Moore will be presenting on what be called the Trojan Forge and super cool. So excited. But with that, Art of Ed says if you want to do CB um evaluation, you have to have policy up. Now, here's here's what you could to support. you could uh approve the first reading and then the next time we have a board meeting um we have it tuned up better and then you approve the second reading or if
you you don't approve it at all. they don't approve it at all, we still want to go through with Troj and Forge and we would tie rates to kind of what they're currently doing, but we really think um the work that's been done in the planning stages of this Trojan report is it's really going to be cool. I'm so excited. I just sense that learning have a strong graduation rate, zero dropout rate, no failing, just these kids will have pride in and we're going to catch them young freshman and sophomores and enroll it for the next year. So anyhow, um you can kind of see read the policy but what's left or could also approve two readings on it and we don't do it and it's just in place in world policy. It's just sitting
in place if we end up going into a competency based instruction for a group of kids, not everybody. It's for a group of kids. >> And do you have the parameters of how those kids have chosen? Yeah, it's that's what that's what Miss McKay and Mitchell and this is more. They're all going to kind of present it. It's it's how they're Well, they're actually going to meet is >> right. We're working on working with middle schooler. They're going to take a list of kids who are struggling academically and attended wise and that's where our focus is going to be. So that's that's the initial that we're looking at 18 to 2 being involved with it. It's going to be the ones that we'll get more details. So it's as you know we have I haven't
been as much curriculum focused and they've got me sicker and me. I think it's you we talk about our you know our attendance rate or our failure rate if it's those kids that need question. >> So you got you didn't get the skinny on it but you got the long version of it you can find one on this policy. So, do you wonder when you talk about the details like in next month or in a couple months or >> we got to have the it takes time to plan? >> We got to have the second reading done by May 30th. If we have there's all this paperwork I have to submit to the state department and through CASA so that uh we're allowed to take a quick >> and again we think it's great opportunity.
We know we're just kind of giving it to you in a quick flash and we haven't you just haven't had a chance to look at it. >> This is all last week. >> Yeah, it's that we were presented. So I mean so we approve it tonight and but we have a presentation on it before next before the >> meeting. Yeah. The next vote on it approve it or not approve it. >> Yep. Better feel of what children forges is and then understand the whole competency based approach. So we get these kids passing classes um with great experience you know instead of it we're looking at even replacing incoming freshmen and they wouldn't do any DOC programs. So we have freshman doing EOC, you know, the Celis online stuff that's going through Facebook or incoming freshman
and possibly all the sophomores. We're not sure on that yet. Um where they're doing a lot of face to face with teacher directly teacher and some of our other support folks. It has the ability to grow as not just you nth grade moving those kids seem to move on if needed to upper levels into your 12 presentation next time we do um the second one. But um that being said, I'll I'll go ahead and >> I'll move the first rating of the Constantine base education. >> Second. >> Okay. Chase. >> Yeah. >> Jody. >> Jenny. Yes. Josh. Yes, >> chat. >> Yes, >> there's a few upcoming dates there. Some of them are today board meeting next month or next week, next two weeks. Anybody else have anything to add? All right. So loud.
