All >> [laughter] >> right, it's close enough to six o'clock. We'll go ahead and get started. I guess I'd like to welcome everybody to the February 11th uh meeting of the Atlantic School Board. Go ahead with the roll call, please. >> Yes. >> Jenny Jordan. >> Yes. >> Judgement. >> Yes. >> Moving on. The first obviously we have to approve the agenda. Is there an approval on that? [clears throat] >> I move second. Okay. Jenny. Yes, Josh. >> Yes, >> Chad. >> yes. >> Now's the time where we welcome all visitors. We have a crowd tonight, which is good. Um, and we have uh my understanding is three students have signed up for public comment, but my understanding is uh one of them is unable to be here. Is that correct? >> Yes. Yes, >>
that is correct. Okay. So, I I think I have it right. So, my first uh speaker then is hope that >> I am no longer speaking. Liam will be doing all the speaking. >> Okay, Liam. [clears throat] >> All right. Hello. My name is Liam Spencer. I'm currently a freshman here in Atlantic High School and I was a major advocate in recent protests here on behalf of several students and I thank you all for allowing me to voice concerns of myself and fellow students. Um, so got a few questions. In light of recent events, will the employment process be stricter in order to ensure the safety of students and staff alike? >> In light of recent events, will the employment process be stricter in order to ensure the safety of staff and students alike? I
guess the so the the public comment is is not necessarily a interactive question and answer pro uh process. It's it's how our board policy is. So I I mean I guess if you if you want to address the board then that's fine but it's you just it's not interactive. >> Okay. Um employment [clears throat] process should be structured in order to ensure the safety of students and staff as well. Um, and there should be plans set in place in order to prevent another situation in the future [clears throat] and we don't want this happening to us again or another school obviously. So that should definitely be set in place and short but simple. That's all I have. So thank you for your time. Thank you. I'll move on to reports. We have no special presentation
tonight. So, we'll move on to reports. Uh the student services uh administrators, all the reports are in the board packet. Uh so, we'll move on to the superintendent report. >> Excuse me. >> Anybody have any questions on the superintendent report? Uh board report. I have one thing after if anybody else doesn't have any income for the border report. Um so we were we did receive a petition um I think over the last couple days it's been presented um that has been verified and it has been uh I guess spoken with the gas county auditor in reference to that. Um so I want to um I guess explain the process to the community so that that paperwork is now available to for the special election. Uh that can be my understanding is it can be electronically
uh the signatures can be electronically or hand or print. Um I believe it's 50 signatures have to be uh obtained to get on the ballot. So those ballot or the the signatures are due by March 6th at 5:00 and our understanding from the auditor is that those uh that is all that all flows through Lisa Jones at our office not through the courthouse. So, if somebody has those 50 signatures, then they would be turned into Lisa. Um, the auditor um is really only was the one that set the date as far as that. So, the paperwork's available now for anybody that would want that. U it's due March 6th at the at the business office in the achievement center. And the special election is dated to be Tuesday, March 31st is the will be the
day of the special election. And then we've also uh it's been confirmed to us that in the meantime we will just proceed with four uh members as opposed to appointing somebody for six weeks or how whatever that would be seven weeks um to go from that. So I just wanted to get that out as the um as the process I guess now moving forward because there has been a petition it's been verified. Um so working with the auditor those dates have been set and so that's uh how we'll move forward with uh billing the boards. So that's all I have on that. Nobody else. Okay. Um financial report. >> So we just completed uh month seven out of our 12 months. February school year. Um we are off on schedule. We've spent about 48% of
the budget. So, we have about 52% left and we're on track that we have about 42% left of the fiscal year left. So, we're sitting about where we should be. Um, the cash accounts look good. All of our accounts are balanced. So, we're in a good position. Obviously, we have all those electronically. Anybody have any questions with all those numbers? Does anybody have a motion to approve financials financial report? >> I move we approve the financial report. >> Second. >> Josh, >> yes. >> Chad, >> yes. >> Jody, >> yes. Ch. >> Yes. >> Okay. So, next we'll move on to the consent agenda. I don't know if you people have. So, with the consent agenda, generally it uh the board takes action on all of the items at the same time. If a board
member has a question about a specific one, u they can obviously make a motion however they want, but they can generally pull that out. We can have that for further discussion or um the reason it kind of goes in the consent agenda item so we don't hash everyone. It kind of goes together. So, um that's kind of where we're at. So, I don't know what the motion will be, but I motion to approve all consent items. >> Als Jenny, >> yes. Josh, >> yes. >> Okay, move on to action item. Action item A is a consideration of superintendent's recommendation to terminate employee Jesse. I move to uh consider his res or uh to terminate the employee. >> Second. >> Yes. >> Jenny. Jenny, >> yes. Josh, >> yes. >> Um, action item B is board
policy 5-year review. It's the second of the 600 series, which is a lot of like construction type stuff. >> It's a process we do every five years to read all the policies. This time we will do the whole series. Very few changes from >> Yeah. No changes. >> And this is the one that we voted on the last time. >> We did the first reading for last month. So >> it took just as long to read at the Senate. >> So I move we approve the second reading of uh board policies in the 600 series. Second >> yes. >> Josh. >> Yes. >> So the next item is uh approve FCA club which is Coach Ferguson Fellowship of Christian Athletes Club to be started at the high school. >> I move to approve FCA club.
I second. >> Jenny, can I ask a question? >> I Is this a service organization, a social organization? I looked at the website and I couldn't figure out exactly what I could do. I don't know if anybody here knew that. We used to have sea um and then it kind of expanded. It is a studentled organization and uh for liability reasons you know they want to make sure that it's actually seen as a club and so they share beliefs they work through different types of questions as a group. So it's real student driven. Yes, it's still serviceoriented. Uh but it's also about [clears throat] >> So we have a second. >> Did I ask you second? >> Yeah, I do. So >> yeah, my turn. Yes. >> Yes. >> All right, [clears throat] >> Josh.
>> Yes, >> Chad. Yes. >> Yes. >> So the next item is to item D is to set a public hearing date for the 20167 school master >> the committee. >> So the superintendent works with the administration to come up with a public hearing date where they present the calendar to the community. That's usually done in March. It's usually about the same time. So my recommends at the same time >> I think you've always >> but they will that master calendar committee will have whatever their recommendation is >> that so make a motion on that >> for both of They're they're listed as as two different action items. So, let's list them separately. >> Okay. >> We'll do just do the master calendar first. >> All right. You said March 26 >> 25th session. >>
It's a board work session. >> All right. So, I move we set the public hearing date with the 26 27th school master calendar on March 25th. I second. Josh, >> yes. Ch. >> Yes. Okay. Yes. Yeah. The second uh public hearing date uh is hearing date number one for the next year for the 27th budget. I said in the past time March 20 to approve the public hearing date number one for fiscal year 37 budget on March 6. Okay. I'll >> second. Ch. >> Yes. Jenny, >> yes. Josh, >> yes. >> Um, like I said, kind of upcoming dates. We have the work session uh this month and then I guess it's I guess that'll be next month. The election will be in March. So, February date. Good. Okay. That's all. Is there a motion
to adjurnn? There >> a second. Second. All in favor? I didn't get that. I think we're chunking
