Congratulations. Uh, I have 6:30. So, I will call this uh meeting of the final meeting of the retiring board of the Atlanta Community School District, November 18th, 2025 to order. >> Can we have the roll call, please? >> Yes. >> Jody Goodri, >> yes. >> Jenny Jordan, >> yes. >> Josh McLaren, >> yes. >> Laura Mlan, >> yes. >> Christy Bell, >> yes. >> Okay. Uh, we do have a little bit of an agenda. Uh there are a few things that the retiring board uh needs to take care of. And in addition, we've got just a couple of other uh action items that we took the opportunity of having a meeting uh to take care of them today. So, uh I will take a motion to approve the agenda. >> Can you make a motion

to approve the amended agenda because those were added after the 24-hour notice? >> Okay. I move to approve the agenda as amended. >> Second. Okay. Jenny, >> yes. >> Josh, >> yes. >> Laura, >> yes. >> Christie, >> yes. >> Jody, >> yes. >> For clarifying, I was wondering why I had looked at all things. All right. Our first action item is to approve uh an out ofstate swim meet for December 4th, 2025. >> I move we approve the out of state swim meet for December 4th. Second. >> Okay. Josh, >> yes. >> Laura, >> yes. >> Christie, >> yes. >> Jody, >> yes. Jenny, >> yes. >> Our second item is approval of a new vocal music teacher to begin second semester. >> I move forward with recommendation to hire new vocal music teacher.

>> I'll second. Okay. Laura, >> yes. >> Christine, >> yes. Jody, >> yes. >> Jenny, >> yes. >> Josh, >> yes. >> Uh, action item C is approval of the minutes from our last regular board meeting of November 12th. >> So, move. >> Usually, we don't have this as a separate item. It's usually on the consent agenda, but since we have such a small agenda, we're just going to go ahead and do accept. We need a second. >> I'll second. >> Okay. Christy, >> yes. >> Jody, >> yes. >> Jenny, >> yes. >> Josh, >> yes. Laura. >> Yes. Action item D is a resolution resolution approving the FY25 depository statement. And I was told just before the meeting that this is something the uh retiring board always does. It's basically uh we are certifying

that we approve and agree with the amount of money that was in each of our funds as of the end of the last fiscal year. I move we approve the resolution approving the 2425 depository statement. >> Second. >> Okay. Jody, >> yes. >> Jenny, >> yes. >> Josh, >> yes. >> Laura, >> yes. >> Christie, >> yes. >> Action item. Uh, we have the county auditor's official report of election results. Do we need action on that? >> We're approving. >> Just accepting them. Now, these these were added also late because we didn't get these uh till today. It was the first day that we could get those. So, I do have hard copies here if you'd like them and I also attached them. So, Christy, I can give you a hard copy. They've more than

once and supervisors have signed up on. So, So, would you like a motion to approve? It is an action. >> I would move to approve the county auditor's official report of the election results. >> Second. >> Okay. Jenny, >> yes. >> Josh, >> yes. >> Laura, >> yes. >> Christie, >> yes. Joey, >> yes. >> Thank you. >> All right. The final thing is adjournment of retiring board. Before I do that, I do want to recognize that we have one board member who will be uh leaving the board at this time after how many years of service? 21. >> 18. >> Oh, it's 18. >> Sorry, I'll make you sound old. After 18 years of service, um we were just discussing earlier Christy Pellet was elected to the board when she had very young children

and um has managed with the help of her husband Brad to uh continue to fulfill her board service uh to a very high level of excellence. And I can say personally that uh Christie is uh probably the main reason that I serve on the board. um uh I was interested in running for something and you know kind of paying attention to ways that I could serve and um started coming to the schoolboard meetings because they weren't necessarily available by video and um I found the way that she led um she was just professional uh respectful of everybody um encouraging and positive um and she also asked great questions which is something I personally love. So, it um I really thought uh I wanted to be a board member like Kirkp. And so, Christie, I took

my phone and I like went through my text to find the first one when I texted you and introduced myself and asked if we could get together to talk about board service six years ago when I was thinking about running. And uh Christie graciously met with me. We went for a walk all around the high school and she gave me a ginormous binder to look at which is pretty intimidating. I love the digital era um of of her stuff and just answered all of my questions and talked about what it means to be a board member and um in particular being a president leading meetings and all of that and um and you know through all of this time she's continued to be an amazing resource I think for all of us with her historical

knowledge. Um but she has never kept herself tied to it. she doesn't kind of say, "Well, we used to do it this way and so we need to do it that way again." Um, but I know like you fight that impulse because all of us have that impulse and you fight it and you try to know that things have to change and things grow and kids even and education isn't even the same as it was when you started. But you have managed to be adaptable and um I just think that you've left a tremendous legacy uh for this district. So, thank you. >> I agree. I'm not very good with partying group. So, we already talked. Lois said she would give this. >> I do believe I said we need to say, >> well, and

Christie, I would like to thank you, too. I called Christie before I ran for school board just to see about substitute teaching at the same time. Thank you. >> I've always looked to Christie for guidance and history and her knowledge and so I thank you very much for all that you've done for the school district and I'll be glad to see you in a different meeting that we both absolutely look thank you all and I guess I I would say u thank you to this community and district um for the trust and the confidence that you've had in me um over these many years. Um thank you to um each and every one of you fellow um board members. Um I have appreciated my service with you to Dr. Beth Johnson to you Lisa um

to our administrators to um our past board members and superintendent. I have learned a tremendous amount from each of you. So uh for that I will always be grateful. Um, I continue to be humbled and impressed with this community, this school district in the way that they show up for our kids and our students. Um, it says a lot about Atlantic. Atlantic is a special place and um, we put the emphasis on our kids and that's where it should be. So, I'm so very excited and happy for all of you because you've got some exciting things to look forward to. Uh, give >> Thank you. This time, um, I will take a motion to adjurnn the retiring board for this last two years. >> I move to adjourning board. >> Second. >> All in favor?

I I we are >> I just have your phone number. So >> picture >> we're gonna take a group picture real quickly. So the original board if you could all >> get together >> somewhere. Where do you want to stick? >> I don't live. >> It's like books in the back. >> I know. Yeah. >> Okay. Find books. I'm official. >> Put Jenny in the back. Put the tall people in the back. >> Funny. >> Yeah, you talk. >> I'm gonna go be >> central. price unless you do university They should give up. >> Challenge. So our girls our girls. It's a good way for them to get back. >> Yeah. Well, they don't even say football over, but you know, I mean, I know the boys are a little later, maybe a week or

so, but the boys started practice. The girls just started last Monday. So they're playing within two within two weeks. Boys started Monday, but they've got >> three weeks or so. >> Yeah, they won't start till Monday. >> So yeah, they >> can find out. >> Yes. Thank you. Check this. I'll get the card. Can't believe in he about That's right. Leave it alone. >> Should be some good games. >> Right. I missed it. >> Oh, >> yeah. The baseball I'm going to upload these to drive then that's fine. >> Okay. >> Thank you. >> Still not recovery yet. >> Yes. >> This is your last chance. The voters will probably >> get after >> that's cool. >> Yeah. >> Isn't that cool? >> That is I don't know going out for because of football. >>

Yeah. I guess I haven't >> he might want to stick around if he is heard or still putting things away. >> But still, >> yes, we only do this once every two weeks. So >> everyone knows. >> Okay. I would like to call the uh board meeting of November 18th to order. >> This is our organizational meeting that is done each year. So, as of this time, we do not have a board president or a vice president. So, we're going to start the whole process over. We're going to start first with a call to order. And I've got roll call like on step three, but I'm actually going to do roll call first and then we'll move to uh swearing in our new um board director. Uh so, for first, Jody Goodrich, >> yes. >>

Jenny Jordan, >> yes. >> Josh McLaren, >> yes. >> Laura Mlan, >> yes. Chat Manily. >> Yes. >> Last name Manily if I've got that. Okay, good. Let me please let me know that. Um, do you solemnly swear that you will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Iowa and that you will faithfully and impartially to the best of your ability discharge the duties of the office of board of education director in Atlantic Community School District as now or hereafter required by law. >> Welcome. >> Thank you. That's it. Welcome. >> Now we will elect a president. With the uh president, we will call

for nominations. Nominations do not require a second. We will take all nominations and then we will vote after that. This is for a one-year term as board president. >> I don't have any nominations. >> I would like to nominate Josh McLaren. Okay. Do I have any other nominations? All right. Can someone make a motion for me? >> I move to close to Do we close nominations? >> Ah, >> yes. I move to close the nominations. >> Let's close nominations and then make a motion. Sorry. So, we'll close nominations. I should have done that shortly. >> Second. Okay. >> Sorry, we don't do this as often as we should. Hey, we're a new board. >> Those nominations. Okay. Okay. I got Jenny. >> Yes. >> Josh, >> yes. >> Laura, >> yes. >> Chat, >> Yes.

Keep. >> Okay. Nominations are now closed. >> Do I have a motion? Uh, I move that Josh McLaren be the president for the next year. >> I second. Okay. >> Oops. A second. >> Okay. Jenny, >> yes. >> Josh, >> yes. >> Laura, >> yes. >> Chat, >> yes. >> Cheddy, >> yes. We have a board president. >> Yay. Do you solemnly swear that you will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Iowa and that you will faithfully and impartially to the best of your ability discharge the duties of the office of school board president in Atlantic Community School District as now or hereafter required by law? >> Yes, sir. >> You like to take a seat at the head table? >> Sure. Yeah, >> Lisa can't wait

to stop running this meeting. >> I'm really really wanting to step away. >> All right, we'll move on to the election of the vice president. So, are there any uh nominations for board vice president? >> I nominate Jim Jordan for vice president. I've got a first. Second. Okay, Josh. >> Yes. >> Laura, >> oh, we're just doing this. We're just voting on this one. >> That's fine. >> Sorry. >> I have a president now. I'm just going with it. Uh, should we close the nominations? I apologize. Let's close the nominations first. Gosh, guys. Sorry. >> Let's try that again. Closing the nominations. I had Jody with a first and Laura, you seconded. Okay, >> now let's go. Josh, >> yes. >> Laura, >> yes. >> Chat, >> yes. >> Jody, >> yes. >> Jay, >>

do I vote for myself? You're disclosing the nominations. >> Yes, >> but you can. We're a fiveman board. That's fine. >> All righty. Nominations have been closed. >> I move that we accept Jenny Jordan as our vice president. >> I second. Okay. Josh, >> yes. >> Laura, >> yes. >> Chat, >> yes. >> Jody, >> yes. >> Jenny, >> yes. >> Stand up. Right. >> Please. >> Thank you. >> Uh, this third one right there. >> Do you solemnly swear that you will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Iowa and that you will faithfully and impartially to the best of your ability discharge the duties of the office of school board vice president in Atlantic Community School District as now or hereafter required by law? >> Yes.
