Um, roll call. >> A, >> yes. >> Jake Bros, >> yes. >> Audrey Dwell, >> yes. >> Marino, >> yes. >> Becky Bargas, >> yes. >> We have a right. Can I get a motion to approve the agenda? >> So move. >> I'll second. >> All in favor? I >> uh this is the time when community members can make public comments to the board. Please be aware the board cannot comment on anything that is said during this time. This is the only time on the agenda reserved for open public comment. We will be limiting the forum to 30 minutes. Please limit comments to four. [Music] Nobody. All right. So fundraiser requests Sorry. Fundra request. Um, we have National Honor Society, the kids winter camp. >> Any questions? Right. A motion to approve. Make a motion.

>> Second. >> All in favor? >> I. And then there's no overnight trips. The next item though that we do have is the educators rising club request for funding. So I just put together kind of a one page for you all. I think you probably saw it. I didn't know you have questions that I can answer about it. Essentially, not to re not to read aloud what my one page said, but um we were part of five schools that received a federal grant to um the original premise was to increase the um number of teachers who are um minority or underrepresented upper excuse me under represented populations. um that grant was frozen last year and so uh the siphon was fulfilled through the grant for the two teachers that ran the program the last two

years. Um but that isn't an option anymore. We have seen continued interest in it and so we're looking to see if the district would be willing to assume the cost of the two teachers stipens for that. >> So 1,800 in total, right? 9 900 a piece. >> And so 900 for the teacher at the elementary that really coordinates the job shadowing and then 900 for the teacher at the high school that runs more of the meetings. And um the kids go to job shadows typically Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. So then on Wednesday they meet with the teacher at the high school. >> These students in the club? No, these are students who are in government and one of their assignments was to observe a city council meeting or a schoolboard meeting. So they chose schoolboard.

>> Picked a good one. >> I know it go they heard of our track record. Um, so, oh, I guess is it a a stipen that's like per semester or once a year? >> Once a year. I think Abby typically breaks it up. I don't actually even know, but I think she breaks it up amongst paychecks, but the total stipend would be 900 per teacher. So, 1,800 >> for the whole academic year. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> All right. And >> for approval, >> I'll second. All in favor? >> I >> Thank you. Thank you. >> Next, we have the final budget enrollment. So, we have the final count both in the packet and I can pull it out. So, so overall certified enrollment increased by one student from last year. Um, additionally, our open enrolled

out students decreased approximately six students while open enrolled in students decreased by two. So, our total open enrollment is a net loss of 12.8 8 students, which is favorable compared to the prior year's net loss of 16.7. Preschool students also decreased by seven full-time equivalent students, which is actually 14 students. So, our actual enrollment is what the state aid is based on. And that is this middle line here where it shows positive one student. Does anyone have any questions? >> Do you have last year's? Do you know what it was last year then? >> This year 123610. >> Oh, so they were down from just the last year. I guess I was thinking even before this chart. Do we did anyone know? I was just curious. >> Yeah, I can just set up like a

trend. Yeah, I guess I was looking for for a trend or if we had a trend or so >> if Sean knew of how how's it looking Sean? >> Do you have any other questions about it? >> Not Not me. I was just curious what the trend is, if we're looking good or if it's pretty steady. >> Pretty steady overall. >> Pretty steady. >> Okay. >> We fluctuate a few up, a few down. Um, >> anytime we grow or see just even growth of one or stay steady is a is a good thing. Um, I'd say comparatively speaking, um, we'll compare notes and superintendent meetings of our enrollment. I would say over well over majority of schools are seeing a drop in plus one as a positive. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Question on preschool. Does

that say we only have 29 in northern preschool? >> It's the preschool students only count for half. Um so you would take that and double it. I do believe. >> Okay. >> Am I right on that, Sean? Or >> And that's only is that only full-time or is that everybody? >> Um, that's all preschool students. Okay. From my understanding, that's why since we decrease by seven, like have you put in there that we actually decrease by 14 because they need to be doubled. It >> is a small class. >> Yeah. And you can actually see that count on the district snapshot that's also in your packet. So it tells you that we have a total of 72 preschool students. Um and that includes both three-year-old and fouryear-old >> preschool students. >> Oh yeah. And then

you also have totals for each grade level as well as each building. Um and please note that the kindergarten total also includes be kindergarten students because as far as the state's concerned they are kindergarten. So enrollment travel Becky that you're asking about let's see last year 12361 year before 1250.4 1235.1 year before 1235.1 year before that. >> Okay >> 1238.5 um year before that >> sort of like right in there. >> Yeah. I mean it's always going to fluctuate. graduate a bigger class or smaller class depends how many come in that next year and um I'd say the probably the bigger positive is open roll out is known >> and our open staying pretty stable >> um and then >> I mean should we be concerned it was a small preschool do you think that

was just a a loop that we had less preschoolers >> so hard to tell it depends how many end up enrolling in kindergarten Right. Yeah. >> And I've got an historical trend line, too. From 1996 up to 2013, highest number was about 1270. >> Dropped below 1150. Um, and then I'd say average is around >> between 1220 and 1240. And that's it's about where we're at right now. That's just kind of stayed along that trend line over the years. >> This one isn't an action item, right? We just discuss them. Any other questions on the moment? All right. Then now we go to the athletic complex. And this one is an action item. This is a change going from FH essentially it is um back charges or forward charges for work that they've done beyond

uh I guess you'd say the reasonable scope. So substantial completion of this project was like 9 September of 23 and then even allowing some leeway you know a few months past that and you got all of 24 and you know up to where we're at now. So that 23,587 is subtracted from the final payment then that we pay Canudson. So essentially Canudson is responsible for that amount of it's being paid to have the age. >> Any questions? Disclosed as a book. >> I make a motion to approve uh change order number 10 for the athletic complex project. >> We'll second. >> All in favor? >> I. All right. Down to second readings. Then we get a chance to look over them. The policy changes. >> Yeah, I thought the changes were good. >> Yeah, I

think it was fine. Thanks for doing all that, Karen. Oh, you're welcome. Appreciate it. >> Well, and I apologize because in your first reading, I had that one. I think it was the elections of the school board and I had that marked as no matching LSB policy and that was my mistake. So, I've removed that wording because that should still in there with no changes. >> Yeah. Thank you. So, motion to approve. Make a motion. I'll second. All >> in favor? So, the minutes >> apologize. I don't have any specific school notes. Yeah, I was going to say any questions on any of the warrants or treasures reports for anybody. >> I'll make a motion to >> approve the consent agenda. >> I'll second. >> All in favor? >> I All right. So, future items

will be the next board meeting will be Monday, November 3rd. Oh, did she say something about talking about that? >> Yeah. So Abby had to request or had just really posed the question to us whether or not we wanted to have a meeting on the 3rd or just bump into the 17th post election. Um and uh there's not a lot to cover on the 3 is kind of the commentary and nothing pressing between now and then. Um so now would be a good time for us to decide right now to skip it or we can think about it handle it over email. >> I'm fine skipping it. I'm fine skipping it. it'll be so the 17th instead of Thursday. >> All right. So, the next regular school board meeting will be Monday, November, was it

th at 6:00 and we'll have the superintendent report and we'll approve modifications to supplemental amounts. So, it's just over enrollments beyond five years. So, we need a motion to adjurnn. >> I'll make a motion to adjurnn. >> Second. Second.
