013Mr Taylor I will now be turning the meeting over to the board attorney who will take nomination of president of the Garfield Board of Education Mr Brent Madam Secretary I'd like to make a motion to go on close session I mean the the meeting hasn't Tech we been called to order yet um they're they're frankly the members were just sworn in um I think we should get a chance to know each other privately there there is no statutory prohibition on a motion to move to Executive at this at this point um so it would be a motion that would be over open to the board to consider and vote upon well there is I'll second the motion okay so there is a second so we need a a a roll call of the members uh

020and thank you for coming out tonight to witness our saring in I would like to take this moment to thank my beautiful wife Patria my two kids Angel and Gabriel for their unwavering support to my supporters thank you for believing in me we did it l hos I would also like to congratulate Mr Ros Mr Taylor and Mr mun on their WIS as well tonight makes a historic moment tonight former mayor who was uh became the youngest mayor in 1980 in the city of Garfield who's now the county uh board councel for the uh Mr Tedesco and the youngest and and we have the youngest uh trustee just elected Mr Alo Munos I say this simply because because no matter how young you are volunteer volunteerism Civic Duties are essential in our community continue to
021inspire Garfield has chosen hope and Aldo Munos the youngest elected official in history will carry that hope that belief forward congratulations Aldo [Applause] uh I'd like to say a few words Angel thanks for that uh I want to thank my team uh for helping me you know get to this point you know a year ago I didn't think uh Board of Ed was even in the realm of possibility and I'm sitting here today I want to thank my mom for coming out and supporting me helping sweare me in Mr D Mr uh Mr Dutch that's right and um yeah I'm can't wait to get to work and uh continue to move this District forward thank you everybody [Applause] just want to say thank you uh to those who voted everybody who ran thank you for
022running even if you didn't make it uh I know firsthand what it takes out of you and what it takes to to put a campaign together thank you to my family who's here I'm not even going to [Applause] say not really going to say friends cuz if we're friends you're family so you're here for me thank you you're my family I truly appreciate it especially those two little boys um congratulations to Mr killes congratulations again to Mr [Applause] Ramos I know Mr KES brings a wealth of experience and I think Mr Ramos has done uh if I must say so a hell of a job as our president and I know he'll continue to do so and I know we'll all work together for what everyone is here for and that's for the kids the
023teachers and then the uh the students you know this the the taxpayers I'm sorry but it's really the kids and the teachers that come first and that's why we're all up here that's why we give the time we do and that's why we uh we care so thank you very much and I appreciate it so they're a little scattered and all over the place but I'd like to thank my family for their continued support my beautiful wife my 2-year-old my oldest son my daughter Alexa my other daughter is not here today they see the ins and outs and the struggles and things that I go to go through on a daily basis and the fact that they're there to support me and to Stand By Me and to understand you know that this isn't an
024easy task you know on a daily basis we're attacked for the things that we try to do and the things that we do in with the community in mind everybody thinks that there's always some backward thought to something or some scheme or some plot when all we're trying to do is the right for our children as God is my witness I have been placed here in his honor to represent him so rather than just represent the community I res represent the King of Kings so and I take that as an honor as a privilege and that's where I go to first so I represent him in everything that I do so understand the Integrity behind that understand that yes maybe there you know there's certain things that I can't speak of here but understand that
025my faith leads me in all of my actions regardless of how they're taken and regardless of those that come against me for it I want to thank those in the community that came to support us in all of this I want to thank Mr Dutch for swearing me in I want to thank the delanis for coming to swearing Mr Taylor they've always been supportive regardless of anything and everything I want to thank the Hispanic Alliance for their representation I want to thank Mr Hector Laura me and him go back years you know to the method Church in Pake Miss Deo Miss Bellinger in the back who actually you know held the position up here and stood and sat by my side and help me through you know a tough time on the board as well
026I want the community to understand that we move forward and we work tirelessly to try to do the right thing for this community to try to get the right things done we're not trying to Simply Be a board we're trying to be a new board and a new board means new ways and not old ways and it's about moving away from the old ways the things that people thought were okay to do the things that people used to to move themselves forward so this board I hope that we can work together in every way possible in order to move the city forward our education system forward and do everything that our children need from us and our teachers need from us the support that goes unspoken and is barely talked about we support those that
