001The career center at special services is [music] an employment first program that looks to prepare nor diverse individuals for competitive employment. Special services [music] had a need uh at a time when we first opened up Bankbridge Regional to look at placing [music] students into not only competitive employment but to really put them into an environment where they were going to be working with both um [music] neurodeiverse u and non-neurodiverse populations. So, one big part of our program is using a person- centered approach when we're trying to match our interns [music] to job sites because we want to make sure it's a good fit for the employer and the student. Work-based learning is a program that allows our students to go out in the community to learn vocational skills and [music] life skills. Our community partners
002give students the opportunity to learn firsthand [music] what the job is like. In turn, students provide extra help. It's a win-win situation. Student internships are a part of work-based learning and connect classroom [music] education and training with real life experience. Internships differ from other work-based learning activities by offering students hands-on experiences that [music] improve their skills and prepare them for competitive employment. >> Non-traditional employment [music] is when we take the unique skill set of our students to provide a service [music] or support to our community partners. This type of partnership allows our [music] students to learn specific skills on the job site while taking [music] those responsibilities away from our community partners. Our career center programs [music] at the schools for neurodiversity at GCSSD has grown exponentially. The purpose [music] was to give our students
003an opportunity to get out into gainful employment as well as prepare for adult life. What it has now become with the direction of Justin Dickerman [music] and others is that our students are now being successful in the hospital settings through Project Search. Um, our students are out in more opportunities [music] of both paid and unpaid internships as well as gainful employment. And we're now seeing students that are [music] even working on the college campus of RCSJ um through the schools [music] of medicine in cafeterias um working directly with [music] um the community. Now we've see our students go not only to employment and transitioning into adult life, now they're going into residential environments [music] to live. And that to me is where the transition and career center programs have exploded and continue to grow in
004our district. >> How can we help your business?
