is absent. Mr. Guthrie >> here, >> Mr. Kers is absent. Mrs. Olsen >> here. Dr. Sero >> here. >> Mrs. Aron here. Mrs. Cotain here. And I'm >> Okay. And I've already asked about the acting clerk since we have a motion to adopt the agenda. >> I'll make a motion. >> I'll second it. >> All those in favor? I >> I oppose. stand to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for it stands one nation under God indivisibley and justice for all. >> Oh yes we have no visitors comments. So >> visitors >> first out there isformational items. Uh first >> being the classified employment additional workshop. >> Mr. Mr. President, members of the board, uh the ESS department formally sped as required as requested, five pair professionals received two
additional payroll hours on the 11th of February from 1:30 to 2:30 to complete AAC augmentative and alternative communication training. Two hours are requested in the event it will go over the time. A will receive the training board action. >> Okay. Any questions or comments on that? And um amazed at how fast you went through the names. >> Okay, if there's nothing further on that, we'll go to item B extra pay position employment for baseball. Mr. President, members of the board, the following individuals have been interviewed and recommended for the corresponding positions for the third co-head baseball coach say baseball coach volunteer baseball. There no board action necessary. This is the study session. I won't. >> Okay, any questions on that? We will hear the next item which is the approval of the 2627 academic school
calendar. >> Mr. President, members of the board, per AUD governing board policy IC school year, a 180day academic calendar must be board approved each year. The attached 2026 27 academic calendar is being recommended for approval. Low action necessary. This is a study session item only. We have a a copy of the of the u the draft uh for for you guys to look at. August 3rd uh the first day of school. Um we have every month where we have uh early release the day before uh the holiday parent teacher conferences in September. Um we also have October the uh end of the first quarter fall break. November, the early release for Veterans Day. Then you have the three days in the Thanksgiving break. End of the second quarter, December 18th, January, you have the return
January 4th, MLK day, um day of school, you have February, parent teacher conferences. You have also President's Day, March, you have the early release before the spring break. in April. Uh similar to other districts such as Sawita, we have an April spring holiday that first Friday in April. Then you have in May the middle school promotion, Wednesday, May 19th and the last day is high school graduation Thursday, May 20th. So um that is the information for >> Okay, >> next item we have, >> hold on, hold on. I have one question. >> Why are we having parent teacher conferences so early in the school year? U it's literally a month after school starts. >> Well, it's it's we we know we've done this for a few years now. And the reason to do this is
so that a lot of feedback from from parents to teachers and teachers to us is that parents wanted to know if if by having it a little earlier. Um they get to know the grade of their students, their children. And they still have, as you can see here on the calendar, they'll still have three weeks to try and two to three weeks to try to bring that grade up. So that was a lot of the feedback versus having we got a lot of feedback before as far as having parent teacher conferences at the end of the first quarter. A lot of parents would say, is there is there a way we can know a little bit earlier how they're doing as far as how the grades are? >> But what do the teachers think about
that? I I believe the teachers uh I believe they like that. I mean just from talking to Miss um and talking with teachers it gives them a chance to to give parents you know a heads up so that they know so the parents are well informed before before the quarter is over. I mean other districts do this to USD does this and and the rationale is that is that the parents know in advance before the end of the grading quarter what the grades are. throw at a C plus go up to a B, a D+, a C minus, that kind of thing. But they have a heads up versus the quarter is already your grades are doing conference and their grades are already in. So >> yeah, I think that gives them a chance if
their student is falling behind, you can encourage them to catch up before >> Sure. >> before the end of the grade. >> Good point. Good question. >> Okay. Anything else on that? >> And the next item is approval of the name and grade change for the Aaho Academy. >> Mr. Mr. President, members of the board, in 2010, the schools administration registered a separate online school for grades 7 to 12 with the Arizona Department of Education and Arizona 2020 academy. The current administration has been approved by state board of education to revise the online school to be from grades 9 to 12 and be renamed AO online academy for the Arizona Department of Education. The only word approval is required to finalize the name and grade change. There's no board action necessary. a study session item
only. We have the attachments and and diligent for you to look at the process. We've gone through Miss Williams have been making sure that this is going as smooth state board of education. I'll change approval um approved. There's the name of the staff member who approved it on the date January 20th, 2026. And we also have the uh from the Arizona Department of Education January 22nd, um some more critical information. So it looks good and Miss Williams has kind of been um supervising this process and um everything looks to be in order. So that engine ready. >> Say it again. >> Is that engine ready? >> I believe so. >> Did we just not have many people between 7th and 9th grade? >> Um, you're right. like most of our signups is the high school
and I think it's more high school >> I think just Mr. President members of the board just >> just looking at it coming in as if you knew nothing about this just the name change >> online academy just hopefully just more of a connection you know you look at the name before >> easy >> for where >> now it's our whole online academy we talked about that Angelina myself just sounds >> oh no I got that I just noticed but it was going from 71 12th grade to 12th just assume didn't have any notes for students. >> Okay. Anything further on that item and next item is the approval of governing board policy 960. >> Mr. President, members of the board, policy a rewards the June 2016 reference to the office of management and budget
on B compliance supplement to ensure the policy points to the current version used for auditing compliance purposes. Recognition D was updated to align the district's audited financial monitoring terms with current federal and state requirements. The most significant change reflects the office of management and budgets revisions to uniform guidance which increased the single audit threshold from 750,000 to 1 million and federal grants extend during the fiscal year. This updated threshold applies beginning with fiscal year 26 audits as noted in the regulation. No board action necessary. This is a study session item only. You have the attachment there diligent policy services advisory. Uh if you look on the uh the DIE audits financial monitoring and policy just a few words as far as that that are that are new. First paragraph you have Arizona before audit general
and if you go to the regulation uh DER audits financial monitoring just talks about that more in detail. First page section A district expends less than $1 million federal grants in the fiscal year starting with fiscal year 2026. just some uh some some changes as far as to make sure it reflects that $1 million threshold. But um that's pretty much uh what was shared with us. >> Okay. Any question and the next item is report on the 2025 tax credit to report. >> Mr. President, members board for the Arizona Department of Revenue School Districts who receive taxes must have been a reported calendar year to the Department of Revenue. number of donors, amount of donations, and use of funds for each school district attaches the AUSD 2025 tax credit report. You have the attachment, Miss
has it up on the board. Just some key highlights for everyone here. Um, and our our finance consultant, Mr. more has has been helping us, guiding us to make sure that we just use these the the funding here for different resources such as sports uh chalk and paint sports field um uh $1,100 for example, end of the year trophies uh Canyon Athletic Association workshop for cheerleaders, $900 accreditation, 3500 CT culinary arts, food handling card, high school ethics forum, uh such as the one this year that 12 of our student council leaders will be attending February 6th U of A using the funds here to pay for these set activities. That way it's not taken from ML and other budget sources. So Mora has been very helpful in guiding us to make sure we use the
money we have and having it still apply to the tax credit guidelines. >> Okay. And any questions or comments on that? So the next item is the JLM report, but it is my understanding we need to postpone that until next month. >> Yes. >> I don't think we can do we would second a motion to move it since we're in study session. We can do a motion. >> Yeah. Can we make the motion to table? >> Okay. Just motion to table and I need a second. >> I'll second. >> Okay. >> All those in favor? >> I. >> All those opposed? Passes three to zero. >> Okay. Next item up is possible new agenda items for next meeting. Is there any any other items? >> What did you what were you going to request? I'm
sorry. >> I just put the J and just put J report down for next month. >> Okay. If there are no other I will make the motion to I think we should see. >> No, we're good. We're good. We're good. You did not get a second on that. >> So, do I need a second to >> I'll second? >> Um, all those in favor? >> All those opposes at 6:01. Get out of here in 12 minutes. >> Sweet.
