So for high school for 2425 we have 37 incidents reported and this is the one that is out of the 37 incidents no bullying cases were reported. Um 24 out of 141 students were reported. That is 17% of the population of our high school. And of the 24, 17 of them were reported once. So 17 out of 141 um were only there you know for once. That's 12% of the population. That means we had a repeat of 10 years of about 5%. Moving on to elementary with an average of 240 students, we had 125 incidents reported in our school. 55 students had an incident report under their name, which is 23% of the population. Of the 55, 26 of them were only reported once, which is 11% of the total uh school population. And we
have a remainder of 29 of out of 240, which is 12% repeat offenders of the whole population in the elementary. And since this is the one that has the bullying report uh bullying cases, that's the one that I'm going um deeper. So of the 125 students every uh incidents, five of them were bullying cases and the rest of the incidents were there. Now, here are the the practices we had for 2425 for all the bullying cases. And I know this bullying cases because I was part of it. Chief was part of it or SRO was part of it. We had team meetings with the parents, the child, me, Latin students, our campus security monitor and SRO. So we we had a meeting and you know this is going on because when we say bullying it
was a repetition this h maybe there was a fight or harassment happened before but then now we are seeing a pattern then it became bullying so we had to sit down and it's so important that um the parent the guardian understood and we came up with different strategies. So one was counseling and I know for those five cases they were all referred for counseling and I know a number of them um one had a combination of inschool suspension and out of school suspension and then for most part it's an inschool suspension and um since I was the one who directly worked with the kids I gave them a specific activity so when we when they were in inschool suspension I made them read an article about bullying and then since you know they're already you
know then they had to do a reflection then they had to come back to me and we had to talk. So that's one of the strategies I had in in in dealing with those cases. Um we also offer counseling for the victims. But one big very important thing that I have started last year is we launched in October the kindness initiative. So it started with kind acts nomination where staff, students and families can nominate anyone can be a student, a staff, a teacher, teacher, teacher, staff, you know, everyone can nominate and then our office staff captures the ones that were nominated more than once and they were celebrated during the week announcements. So that's every Friday. And then we had monthly spirit rewards and this was celebrated in our school newsletter. So if you paid
if you had a child here, you should have received the monthly newsletter and a couple of them had um featured kindness um like recognized students for their kind. Then we have the kindness shirt. So all staff members received that last year and a number of students also received that those that were recognized and our goal was to foster a culture of kindness, empathy and connection. This is a key to bullying prevention. So in the preventive side that's why we're highlighting this. We're maximizing this for me this is very important. Um, in the February 2025 newsletter, we had this feature. So, that is a skit of a bullying situation. And um, bullying is described in in a childfriendly description. So, they'll be able to understand. And what happened in February was um in their grade bands
K to three um four to six middle school and high school they have different activities that involve like bullying awareness. This is after our first incidents of bullying that was reported to me. So um I'll share with you what uh the primary did. So third grade was in charge of practicing or doing the skill. So they did a play while the K2 watched them. Then afterwards they had a debriefing in their own classrooms. So that's February. And then in March we featured our first set of students that were recognized for their kindness. My specific instruction for our teachers were to choose the ones that were always consistently showing kindness in the classroom, outdoor, during playground time, in lodge, wherever. And they were the set of they were the kids that were sent to me with
with description on why we had chosen that. and they were featured in our March newsletter. A um that's the first week of March. The second week I remember right, we called them each of them. We celebrated them by by including it in the announcement. Each of them received their first the kindest shirt and that's that picture. In February and April, we continued to recognize more kids because I know there's more than one kid for every classroom. You just can only choose one. So that's that. Plus, we recognized one class that was the fourth grade class that was recognized as the class for being high. So that's in April. Then it was also featured in the yearbook. Everyone that was recognized in that month, the the March and April newsletter were captured in in the yearbook.
Just to reiterate that kindness counts and every child counts and a world where you can be anything be kind. So that kind of messaging we are trying to magnify that and during the academic awards day um this is the first time we did this. I chose a very special medal to emphasize um that's the outstanding student thing. At the back of that medal has that logo for high school. It says Aaho High School. Of course, elementary it says AO Elementary School Red Raiders 2425. Kindness matters. I choose kindness. And everyone that got that were the ones that were consistently kind. So I featured my son cuz he's he he's he received a a couple of awards in academic and then that and then he asked me what is this now? I said you know what
I'm very proud of you for achieving you know um academic awards but for me the most important achievement you got is this because you know being kind is just so important and I believe that you do that. A day after a child talked to me and said this is the the outstanding student level Neville. It was his first time seeing that and he valued it so much. I said okay since it's it's you know it's working and a couple of parents told me as well and it's kind of inspiring their kids. This one is showing that it's it's not just our kids, but I'm we're also making sure that we as a staff understand that we are a community. We care for each other. We take care of each other. We do love for each
other. And and that's why we all have kindness shirts. All of us got the kindest shirt you had you've seen there. All of us got that. And our 25 26 kind shirt is here. and everyone including you guys can can get this shirt and we're giving this out at the back to school breakfast um July July 29th um just sending that message that you know we are we are one family and and it's has this message of choose kindness choose community so that's that's one very big thing from for last year and I want to continue that moving forward. The other the other things that we did last year is the counseling support and intervention. We had a partnership with Southwest Behavioral Health Services where 11 students these were the ones that were were repeat
offenders and I'm seeing we're seeing the trends. So 11 students received professional counseling support year three support um during 2425 school year. four of them were referred but because of lack of parental consent did not you know continue. We will follow up with that. I know we followed up but when I looked at the data it still did not happen. So we'll continue to follow up um come come this school year um counseling support with conflict resolution trauma care and behavior strategies and I have seen tremendous um difference with the lives of the kids getting this oneonone peer support. We also piloted restorative practices um for our four to six Mr. as know last year became our restorative practices coordinator after we seeing trends that there were more challenges in the grades four to six
and I also have like he did one-on-one with specific kids small groups and also better teachers and I have seen a big improvement of those really really needy kids that you know with with like guidance from kind of a mentor teacher to a child something like that like relationship building now what's our action plan for 2526 we will definitely continue and expand kindness initiative but this time I want more studentled efforts I know we talked to go and we thought of drama class and others initiate more kindness um educational activities for our kids. That's why I know last year, especially the primary, they had their kindness mini lessons during their morning meetings. And I like that to extend to the upper elementary as well as middle school, you know, like how does it look like
to be God? Just showing one example at a time that that will be helpful for our kids. you want to expand restorative practices program of course Mr. that's no can instead of just four to six we have we will expand that to the others um of course with the support of our campus security monitor and our SRO we will continue partnership with Southwest behavioral services and I know with the help of um Miss Cotay we were able to revise our school safety grant where we can hire a counselor or a social worker And right now we are working on that because I know our Southwest behavioral health services person is going to do tier tier three oneonone. Having a social worker and child support will be a big help because this can be supporting you
know school. So hopefully we'll be able to find that. And then our teachers request inquiry fresher training on moving. And I know they want to know more about how to document like how do I say uniform uniform way of putting in our school. That way it's easier for me to analyze. Not that I don't have Mr. Casey at crunching the data. It's just important that it's uniform and what you label. Oh, I think that's it. Thank you. Thank you. No questions right now. No questions. I think a comment. I love the restorative practices and I love the positive reinforcement of the kindness, you know, because I think for a long time we focused on the negative and I don't like that. I don't like in school suspension. It does no benefit out of kids. So,
I think just focusing on that positive does a lot more for the kids. I Mr. President, members of the board, um that's our our school safety initiatives. And so, uh we want to continue to try and focus even more this year with partnering with districts, local districts, um schools specifically. There are several schools in TUSD that have a kindness initiative. So we want to just try and have that partnership to where we have with Bale School District on beyond textbooks have have that to where we're working in in collaboration with other schools specifically um that like she said she made a great point um there's one school specifically in TUSD where where they also have staff but the same kinds and and the kids can tell you you know why they like their teacher. They
say words like they say things like because my teacher is kind. So it it start it starts from the staff and it goes to the students. You see a big difference school districtwide. So Miss Cotay will now present to you some critical information on our grants on on our uh ESA our title one and uh other budget information separate from classroom site fund and separate from the M fund. So Miss Cot. Yes. Thank you sir. Um good evening everyone. I have here some updated um federal grants for the incoming school year. This is the official document that we received from Arizona Department of Education. So basically what this states is that AD is still waiting for US Department of Education to officially release our federal funding for fiscal year 2026. Also in this document it
states the six federal title programs or grants that are affected namely next page. Thank you. All right. So these are the six federal grants that are on hold. Title 1 C for migrant education. Title two improving teacher quality. Title three your AL population limited English proficiency. Title four part A student support and academic enrichment. Title four part B. This is your 21st century grant and then the WA which is adult education. Um our school unified school district is the recipient of four out of the six grants and namely that's the title one a title two title three and title four. Title 1 A is basic education and support. So basically for an LEA or school to qualify for this grant you have to have a high percentage of children who are in lowincome families. Um,
in the state of Arizona when they do the title one funding, it's divided into three categories. So, title 1 A, title 1 C, and title one B. The D is for neglected, delinquent, or children or youth who are at risk. So, basically, they're um putting funds to support um students who are in state institutions or those juvenile um justice facilities. Um, as you can see, title 1 C is the one on hold, not the title 1 A. However, our title 2, three, and four part A are the one on hold. Um, in the next couple of slides, we will go over um which programs are affected and which ones are not. So, this is our title 1 A. The total allocation that our school received is 156,725. Um the way um we distributed the funding
it's between AO elementary high school and the report set aides by the state. Um these are our programs under title 1A. So for our elementary we have the inter session program. We always have this every year for fall and the spring. We have the MTSS or multi-tered system of support. Last year this is a change of title position. Um we call it academic support. This was taught by Miss Garcia. She's still going to be the same teacher next year. We just um updated the name to MTSS teacher to reflect the uh responsibilities align with MTSS framework. Um we always have in July the elementary uh school jumpstart program. The next would be the instructional assistant. This is one of the visions of Dr. Sulttero. We hope that um using this funding we can hire instructional
assistants specifically for our K3 students um teaching them one-on-one or in small group to help achieve um student growth. And then new for this school year um we have an instructional assessment coordinator. So the person's job is to make sure um all the mandated district and state assessments are held with um with integrity um training teachers with the protocol and all those stuff would be under our instructional assessment coordinator. And another new position this year under title one grant is the eighth grade academic advisor. So this would be a staff member who would help and guide our eighth grade students to be ready for high school. So, it's more of goal setting, high school readiness and parent communication, making sure they're on track to graduate new school. Um, we hope to continue our child study
team coordinator using this funds interession instructional leader and the supplemental ELA and math resources. Those supplemental are digital um subscriptions such as grass kids um amplify for doodles um um and such. For our high school, we have the inter session program as well. The MTSS support teacher, instructional assessment coordinator, our high school AP teachers, we include them in the stipen um AP for advanced placement. Um they provide more rigorous and college life work which requires additional planning done for them. They also have the 9 to 12 grade academic advisor. uh dual enrollment coordinator, inter inter session instructional leader, the AP fees, we normally cover the advanced AC fees, the supplemental ELA and math resources, the high school have the ISL or and the set aides are the ones that are required by the state for
the summer school program, the elementary and high school after school tutoring. Um we have the brand new move on routine um teacher for this month and last month. um parent engagement coordinator. Something new again this school year we hope to have a family engagement liaison. And then we also set aside money for homeless instructional supplies and homeless support supplies. So again just to reiterate our title 1A according as of today they are not being held. So we already have uh they set aside the allocation for us which is 156,725. So the next couple of pages would be our vitals 2, three and four and those are the programs that will be affected. So title two means improving teacher quality. The allocation we received for this year is $7,794.64. We use this funding for recruitment stipens
to mentor teacher. We have brand new teachers or on their second year who might need additional help. So um we use this money for that as well. Um PLC team leaders PD fees for conferences and trainings. If you remember last month um I've mentioned we have about 10 teachers that we sent to teachers um institute of change. So we got the funding from title 2 and we will also be able to send Miss Mercy to ASA leadership conference which we got the funding from title two as well. Um effective teachers um provides high quality um instruction in the classroom. That's what title two is all about. So again title two is being withheld right now with the funds. Title three is limited English proficiency. The total allocation for this is 10,562 and some cents. um
in this fund or in this bucket we get the 025 um FTE for one of our EL teachers. Also we get from this bucket or fund the OS conference registration for three EL teachers. Oella stands for office of English language acquisition and service. Also from this fund um we use this for them to attend the conference for the federal grant. um supplementary resources. Um we purchase bilingual dictionaries or headset when we do the SLA testing. So this is where we get the funds for those. Um another one the next one would be title four part A student support and academic achievement. Um the allocation for this is 11,350. So in summary our title 1A as of today is not affected. So the total allocation for that is 156,000 and some. And then the combined title
two, three and four approximately about 30,000 um 29,670 to be exact. Um those are the ones that we would help as of this time. Um moving forward um we are going to wait you know further notice on how AD would like us to move um from this. Um however in other news um we also have other grants in our school. So we have the CTE federal Perkins that has been approved. We have the CTE state priority that has been approved. Our JTED architectural drafting um I think we presented this a couple months ago. It's a 25,000 grant that um has been received approval. Our IDA part B this is divided into two sections. One is for preschool 3 to 5 years old and another one for 5 to 21 and that has been approved as
well. We have the EC grant um that's Indian education grant um that has been approved too on JM that has been approved as well. the school safety program grant that they had mentioned earlier. Um, and this is really a a good grant. It's a 60,000 worth of grant that we hope that we can hire an in-house social worker or school counselor. It has to be a certified um for us to be able to use the grant. That's the only cost there. We have to have a certified um social worker and school counselor. Freeport grant. Um we're very thankful for Freeport. Last year we received $10,000. Um, last month we applied again and we continue to be the recipient of 10,000 again for a wonderful prek program. And then K3 dyslexia grant last month we were
able to send two teachers to attend a six-day intensive dyslexia training and then part of the grant is that we were able to give them stipens for that. Now the grant just opened again this month. So we hope to apply again and continue to send teachers again for continued learning. Cops grant um this is under department of justice. This is a very competitive and tedious grant. Um this would be our technology um grant for the school. The security of our school. Um uh it's very tedious, but it's it's fun because um one of I remember one of the technology that we put in there is the SV25. That's a baby detection system. That's really cool. And there's one that's called CH52. That's like a a multi multiensory camera which can see four different angles. It's
just one camera, but you can view four different pencils. So, we applied for about $120,000 in there. It's very competitive. We're hopeful, you know, we'll hear something good. Um, we won't release the recipients until sometime in September or October. So, we're going to see that. But for the meantime, we already have something in place for the school and hopefully with this grant kicking in, you know, we can provide more. And then lastly, we have the RIP grant that stands for rural um education um achievement um plan. And we just have um this grant for this year as well. So yeah, um withholding the three grants, that's really something the title 2, three, and four. However, um I'm sure our our financial team will be able to figure out moving forward and we'll be referred advisor
and our financial consultant and on how to move forward. Do you have any questions? Thank you very much. So next up now we have public comments but currently we don't have any public comments on the next item on the agenda student activities sorry consent agenda. If the governing board determines in writing that there is only one source for the required shows, the following vendors will be used for the 2526
school year as soul source vendors. They're right there below listed the vendor the amount and um there's the information for you. Recommend the approval of the listed vendors as source vendors. Okay, make a motion. I'll second. Just got one question here to make sure I'm clear on this. It just seems like a big coincidence. The amount going to Tyler Technologies is the exact same amount going to Canon Athletic. Is that correct? Say that again. I'm sorry. There's two that the amount we're paying the Tyler Technologies is the exact same amount we're paying Canon Athletic. It's such a random amount. Oh, no. It's probably That's what Yeah, I'll see. Mr. because we can take that one out or I can we can revise it on the the the next one. Like that's title. You want to
um do it as is and then we can come back and and change it on the minutes or do you want to take this one out and then have it on the next meeting? What if I modify it to take that one out and have it on the next one so you have that information? Okay. Okay. I'll modify my motion to remove the amount to technologies. Can you further? Yeah. Yes. Okay. I second possible change. Um or we approve it whatever it's going to be for Tyler and then we just be up on the amount because some have to pay. 039item, approval of the governing board policies 906 to 908. Mr. President, members of the board, the following policy advisories are derived from the enactments of the 57th legislature. First regular session 2025, although the current legislative session um was adjourned. The recently signed bills had implications on planning for school operations. New legislative impacts include updates for mandatory reporting, wireless communication devices and internet access and expanded particle notice and authorization for school directory information. I will just read uh for the second reading the policy advisory numbers that the titles we went through at the study session Monday and also in detail as far as the different pages and the underlined parts and different u sections. So I'll just go ahead and read this to count as the second reading. Policy advisory number 906 policy NDB use of
technology resources and instruction regulation. J NDBR, use of technology resources and instruction. Policy advisory number 907 policy JLF reporting child abuse child protection policy advisory number 908 policy JR student records regulation JRR student records recommend that the above board policies be approved upon the second read. All those in favor say I. I. Any opposed? Motion carries four to zero. Next item was to call for agenda items for next meeting. I just had the one that I talked to you about. I remember. It was the uh to change the policy for um two coaches on the bus or two adults, I should say. on trips with us and stuff for both child protection and staff. Sure. So, and I will talk some more about it. I know um along those lines when I was talking with
Trisha about this and in the vice they were really stressed too deep leadership, but they said if you only if you have up to 10 kids, you need two adults. every every 10 you go over that, you need another adult. So if you had 12 students, you want three adults. Because if like in an incident with the school bus, if there's an accident and one student gets hurt, if you only got one person, is that person going to stay in the hospital with the student or be with the other eight students? And if that person, if the adult kids get kids in here, then you know, we want at least two for up to 10. And then I'm just going by the formula the scouts used to use back when I worked at camp. If
you go over 10, then you add a third person. If you go over 20, then you add person to have have good coverage. I know that could make logistics for travel difficult, but um Trish said it actually if it's somebody who has been vetted that code don't necessarily need to be a teacher. be a qualified volunteer to keep the background checks, but they have to be on the bus. Yeah. Thank you. Okay. Anything else for future motion to this meeting? All say I. Any opposed? Motion carries four to zero. We
