Mr. President, members of the board, Richard Rivid, who was a teacher at all schools from 2018 to 2023, has been interviewed for a position as elementary teacher. No board action necessary. This is a study session item one. I was saying before, it's kind of nice to see a couple teachers coming back. Real good. Real good teachers. Any other question or
comment on that? Go on to the next one. Certified employment for the 2526 school year of teacher Alice Kadis. Mr. Mr. President, members of the board, Alice Kadis, who was a teacher at home schools from 2015 to 2022, has been interviewed for a position as an elementary teacher. No board action necessary. This is a study session item only. Questions comments. I'll go to the next item. Personnel issuance of the certified contract for losing information. Mr. Mr. President, members of the board, the administration is requesting approval of the issuance of the certified contract to Elizabeth Blanchard who was hired in January 2025 as a performing arts teacher. No board action necessary. This is a study session item only. Any question we'll go on to personal item additional contract days for Mr. Mr. President, members of the
board, the administration is requesting additional days in June for Shy Waters to shadow and be trained by the outorn school office secretary and the administration. 16 additional contract uh days to the notice of appointment are being requested for shine wages to ensure a smooth transition of staff. This a supplemental for Mr. Moore. There's no board action necessary. This is a study session. Any questions or discussion? Next item, personnel additional contract days for Leon. Mr. President, members of the board, it is necessary to inventory and organize the media center, library books, and storage. Susan Leon and the administration are requesting extra days up to three weeks from June 9th to June 27th to be added to inventory and organize the library media center. No board action necessary. This is a study session idle only, but we
are very excited that she's going to have this extra time to really just uh really organize it even more. So it needs it needs some additional organization. So she's right. Any question or discussion on it? Move to approval of staff for the K through 6 jump start July 7th through 10th and July 14th through 17. Mr. President, members of the board, jump start is offered to students from grades K to 6 for two weeks from July 2025. 4 days a week, six hours a week from July 7th to the 10th and July 14th to the 17th, 2025. Aside from getting targeted support in math and ELA, six teachers from K6 plus
three pair of professionals will work with students in July for eight days, six hours per day. You have Mrs. Fitus, Srano, Aae from Andes Macario, Mr. Peda pair professionals, Miss Monday, Miss Sanchez, Miss Guran, and I believe also um we will have for you for Wednesday, right, Miss? We will have uh Chief Tivot. He's also going to be part of this group. So, we will have that for Wednesday's meeting. Okay. Next, any question or discussion? Go to the extra pay positions. Mr. present members of the board and follow individuals that have expressed an interest uh in the corresponding extra positions. We have our our chair coaches and we have our athletic uh uh our athletic director team led by Mr. Y athletic director. No board action necessary. This is a study session item discussion. Next
item then is the 2425 performance payout. 2425 performance pay. Mr. Hopkins members of the board uh has been calculated by the leadership team. The board is being asked to review and and award the attached Prop 2011 funds to qualify teachers for the 2425 school year. Uh no board action necessary study session item only. We will make sure to have the uh the numbers for you. Okay. You know what we can do? Yeah. You can have them as as early as possible. We were on the hearing. I said, "Oh my goodness, do you have 301?" And then he text me back and said, "I'll email it to you tomorrow." So he just Okay, sorry about that. We on to the interdimenal agreement with Beyond Textbooks. Mr. President, members of the board, in July 2022, the Aqua
USD entered into an agreement with Beyond Textbooks Unified School District to increase student achievement and align classroom instruction to state standards. District will need to annually agree to an IGA. The agreement is attached and has been approved by USC legal council, Mr. Huford. No board action necessary. This is a study session item only and this is well worth this has been a very solid foundation and and guide for all of our staff. Curious how did we qualify for the discount? How did you qualify for the discount? Well, on that first page, it's the annual fee is 11,000 and then 400 students at 11 bucks each gives us 4,400. Subtotal, it says subtotal $15,400 discount. We can look into that, but probably because we're district loyal customers. I'm not sure. We'll look into that. Yeah, I'm
not complaining. Sure. That's a positive. Yeah. Anything else about that? We will go to the inter intergovernmental agreement with Veil Expedition. Mr. President, members of the board, uh, AUSD enters into an agreement with a EDS outreach program, Veil USD, which provides a USD with staff development and training to ensure accurate student data is being submitted to the state through Powers School. The agreement is attached and has been approved by AOC legal council. No board action necessary. This is study session item one. The only thing I'll say about that and the one before is that both of those partnerships have seen very beneficial for Absolutely. Anything else on that item? I don't believe so. Okay. Then on to next item. First reading of governing board policies. Mr. President, members of the board, section D revision are
due to a reorganization that similar policy content and maintains comprehensive information for effective board governance and district operations. The policy documents listed above have either been removed, added due to clotification, regular policy documents containing similar topics or revised. Documents not listed in this comparison document from section D not change. We did um send this to you last week ahead of time. It's quite lengthy. I I can follow the same format we did we have been doing the last few months is read the the policy and the title and then just read the ones that are deleted. But if there's any questions, we can go through them. But um you want me to keep that same uh same comment? Yeah. Okay. Policy DA fiscal management goals, priority objectives, policy DB, annual budget, new regulation DBR, annual
budget schedule preparation, planning format and posting submission. Deleted policy DBC. Deleted regulation DBCR policy DBF budget errors and reviews adoption process. Deleted policy DBI policy DBJ budget transfers. Policy DB funding proposals grants and special projects. Exhibit DE funding proposals, grants and special projects deleted. Policy DBA deleted DDC policy DFA revenues from investments deleted. 012DKA payroll procedures new exhibit DK payment payroll deleted DKA deleted DK AE policy expert properties disposition policy PEDH public participation no board action necessary this is a first sure any questions or comments I have the advisory here. The only question I have is on the public participation, there's a recurring a with a carrot over the line after when when I went to policy services and you there's a button that you can compare the two documents. So the whatever was left over before was black and then the new is blue and the taken out is red. I can't get rid of that little symbol. I don't know what it is, but it's when the uh board policy the pro their program merges the two documents together which is awesome. I love it. And it makes a
PDF for me but I can't get rid of that little AE little thing. It doesn't matter. I take out spaces and remove and add periods and it won't go away. It won't be on the actual um policy once it gets approved. Um but first I thought it was a symbol and then something and I realized it's all over the place. I don't I don't know what it is. I I thought it was like an extra space. So I went in and took out all the spaces and then it's still there. So it's in some spaces and not in other spaces. and it's their program that's that's making the the comparison. So unless I wanted to retype it by hand, I was just like, well, I guess we'll just ignore the whole whatever the heck it
is. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. It's funny because it even shows up in the scratch red part system. So, do folks still need more time to review or they have questions for discussion? I'm number of them were just changing changing of the titles Mr. Hopkins authorities and Mr. a lot of like see for example advisory 882 DD budget funding proposals grant sources and special projects they just took out proposals grants and special projects and put budget added budget funding and they added sources so a lot of it was was changing the titles and um so okay just FYI okay so if there's no discussion or questions that we'll go on to the next item. Approval of the annual performancebased compensation for the country. Yes, Mr. President, members of the board, um Mr. does have a performance-based compensation
um clause under contract for achievement of performance goals to the 2425 school year. Performance based compensation gave over by the super by the I believe it should say by the principal is 5% of the base salary. There is no board action necessary. This is a study session. I mean, you have uh you have the attachments that show um you know the the goals real they're all very critical of the continued professional growth and development that's through uh the partnership with lead now the Puma County Superintendent of Office Dusty Williams. She started right away I believe um that to start right beside them to start in the last class were in person but it was virtual all year at Pixel. So we believe that was very helpful in the first year that she was getting mentored
by a former person who was a former principal himself but she was also collaborating with principles so she had that hands-on and well you know um the also the cogn was very critical to the accredititation and increasing family engagement but um I'll let her uh talk a little bit about you know the goals she was she was living them breathing them the whole year so it's important anything you want to add about your goals or anything particular for one I'm for the professional development you know I'm a lifelong learner I just love to learn and I think that's I don't know or even if I know already the more you hear about it the more that you embody it and more so so that and then attending the the lead Now I really love that.
I love the that it's not too extensive and it's not whole day just four hours uh once uh Saturday um from August till April and then the the mentor was a principal for 13 years. I couldn't remember you know so so that's Miss Susan. And then the the second one from the moment I started working July 1st I was welcomed with culinary accredititation leave for high school. So starting July 1st till I think end of February is an intensive work of making sure that high school reacredited and and by April I think March 31st we received that letter that we are reacredited till 2031 if I remember right. Yeah very intensive. Oh my gosh. The third one, I know there's more, but these three find them like one of the things that one of the
feedback uh that we got from from the survey at the beginning of the year um August of 2024 was to increase family engagement and and one one of the things that I thought of is you know what let's have a monthly newsletter and I I work very closely with the news newsletter coordinators making sure that we have you know um the information that our families need and that's from preK to 12 and all our initiatives are there. I may have only uh mentioned here the three but there's a lot more you know we have the kindness initiative that we started back in October and tracking attendance and what else Fox so all these if you open the newsletter right the link all the newsletters are there with hopefully I put everything there it's in English
and Spanish version and there's a couple of months where you know we we inform the the families where we are with our fast our attendance rate. So and then I think we ranked who got first with attendance and I know prek was number one you know they they were 95 40 something% in attendance. So so that I really I really love that and I enjoy working you know with the team and we used Canva for that and at the end of the year I became an expert of Canva. Yeah. So how do you think the year went? I think I I know um we did not get to first per if if I knew that I could have removed a number of you know that were not supposed to be counted we could have tapped
it number one but that's all right so that was an achievement reacredititation but well and I know our e scores and I've tracked the proficient can see and I know we have increased you know so I think we did pretty well I I'm privileged to we working with a very hardworking staff from top from from our administrator Dr. So there everyone stepping up like this these three here. Oh these four I'm talking about the the three of them they would step up all the time and they don't so privilege. I I I find myself privileged. So what are the challenges? my challenges. I should say that one they've been inviting me to this position for a long time. I always say no because I couldn't imagine facing families like how to work with families. It's
it's so important for families to understand partnership and trust is important. Open communication is important, but some families are very closeminded and that makes the work tough. But I care about kids, so I'll just continue whatever I do. That's the that's the toughest for me. And your relationship with the teachers, I think I I work with them well, I should say. If you have worked with me long enough, she has an open door policy. So, everyone feels welcome and comfortable. It's very supportive. Always been a servant leader and I enjoyed serving. So, I think that's a big difference. So, you're happy you took the position that you wish you had? I like it because there are a lot of things I wanted done before and I'm seeing it now. But there's a lot of things
that needs to be done. I think you're doing a great job. Thank you. But there's a lot of things after looking at our data. We still have a lot of things to do. Any further questions or discussion today? Okay, then next item is approval of the performance based organization for superintendent. That guy's a different story from Robert. You you um approval of the added performance based compensation for the superintendent for achievement performance goals for 2025 school year. Performance based compensation every start from the base salary board action necessary session item I just wanted to share with you if you can um uh either on your on your uh laptop or on the screen. Just wanted to first kind of just highlight the goals just as a reminder. I know we always talked we talked about
them always throughout the year but just really uh kind of just summed them up. Um goal number one was pretty much the vision and mission statement and we follow through uh that with with the help of Mission did a great job in in in helping them with that. We just final approval feedback welcome back staff breakfast. All the staff got to see it July 30th 2024 August 1st 2024. All the families got to see at the open house. We came and shared it with the board I believe very next meeting uh goal number two certified staff beyond textbooks that partnership we continue with that very excited about um September 27 2024 got to see a a team of teachers administration attended the super conference um and this is an all day conference where where they
just give instructional strategies to all the staff we're very excited just to give you a preview uh I believe September the last Friday in September. I don't know what it is. Miss September 26th the first time we're ever doing this all the staff will be going to be on so we just wanted to do something innovative. Miss Adam and Miss Cotay that I give them credit. They were like we need to do this for the whole staff. This will just really be a huge pickme uper for the staff that that the rest of the state will go to that conference that offers and all their certified staff. So that's that's we're excited about that. Goal three, if you can see in your it say it's an attachment. It shows if Angelina can pull it up
on on the the data for the Azela 2025 results. If she can sh pull that up and show it to you. Um it really shows uh the gains that we made. There's always room for improvement, but uh you know, long story short, K 2024 proficiency was 15.58%. K8 proficiency for 2025 uh 25.68% so they had a 10.1% increase. High school was 46.67% proficient in 2024 2025 64.29% so they had a 17% increase. Always room for improvement. We still got to really focus on that K number but but we're seeing a steady growth uh every year which is which is a big focus of what we want to do. want to highlight for you uh some some some highlights. November 14th, 2024, we the EL team uh we had our first EL parent night in the
cafeteria. Mr. Villa, Mr. M. What they did is they shared with every parent of their students a zel score. They showed every parent the score on a card. Then they showed them what the next level is to get to the next one. Pre-emergent to basic, basic, intermediate, intermediate to proficient. But the parents knew, okay, this is how many points I need to get to the next level. So there you have the dates on on on on the performance goal the the goals uh letter B we met um at a leadership team with the PLC team leaders January 9th 15th 23rd 29th February 5th 12th and 19th at the meetings we all shared we broke down every student all the PLC team leaders from K3 to 4 6 to 7 8 to high school we saw
every student where they were at what their score was just so that we could know how much we needed to get to the next Next proficiency level number four, Angelina, if you can show our pictures of our students. I believe uh this was uh goal number four, uh facilitating student celebration, the recognitions for all the students. Um we had the we had the regular monthly celebration, but we did something different in March, April to May. Um our students were really just doing a great job everywhere. Uh March 5th, we recognized our student council leaders. They were the the first group led by these two by Miss Ariana Valdez and Mr. Silus Manuel. We had 12 students go to the UVA Aller College of Management High School ethics forum. So you remember we had them presenting
here March 5th. On April 7th we had our state championship high school cheerleaders. So we recognized them at the board meeting. But then on May 7th these two students here they were the two of three seniors that got recognized by the better business group. So we wanted to highlight those college scholarships something a little bit different and we really uh wanted to recognize the additional uh celebrations for our students. So goal five um Angelina can put this up on the screen for you to see. Um facilitate ongoing uh f family meetings for school safety school safety focus throughout the year for the parent coffees cafesitos uh October 3rd December 3rd February 13th May 9th really highlighted and we had the agendas really just be consistent. We're highlighting um safe haven defense right resistant screens, the
district and school offices, primary classroom building classroom windows, the nine new state-of-the-art bicata security cameras. You got a you got a report on that. So did all the parents the family parent coffees and the campus fence. You can see that we have the the dyke is six foot fence chamber fence with the rolling door. But now we have the 8 foot rod iron that's not being put up. They've been in contact with Mr. going and so we're excited that probably by the end of the week they'll have they'll have all the panels up talking the second they'll be we'll hang by Thursday. That's great news. That's great news. So that was it all started October 3rd when we had that discussion with prepar coffee and we just moved on from that and then and as
a reminder this was this was pay for from the physical plant line item about 118,000. So that was a big positive that's that's four five and and something that that's actually isn't one of the five rules but I wanted to put it on here um and Angelina can share it with you is we have a first ever admin salary schedule. So we never had that before. So last year we revised the certified salary schedule and the classified salary schedule. So this year we added an admin salary schedule. We never had that. So now we have like all the other districts we have certified and classified and admin salary schedule. And so those are just some of the highlights to point out with with the board on on the uh the the goals the goals that
that that served as a guide for me and just you know have some sample agendas from when we met every all these different times besides the team leaders and it just really we just got started right right after we came back from from the new year just really you know we went up now we got 10 out of 10 points on K8 and 10 out of 10 at the high school, you know, the challenge is going to be to keep that perfect score. So, we're excited that we think those scores we had the increase in proficiency and also in students improving their level, maybe not proficient, but improving that from basic to intermediate, we're excited that we're going to keep those 10 points at both both levels, but we won't know until we see it.
So, um that's kind of in a nutshell summary. No word action necessary. There's the study session at a moment. But I really wanted to highlight we were busy all year like she said. She she hit the ground running with the cogn and and and then and everything else just kind of just everything worked together. The cogn yeah the the the announcements on the newsletter was kind of what was going it was just it was keeping in constant contact. We would have weekly meetings, sometimes even multiple meetings, even if five or 10 minute check-ins, but it was on what she shared with you pretty much what I just shared with you. So, long story short, I think any questions, discussion item. If not, next item is to ask for any possible new agenda items for next
meeting. to make the motion to approve. I will second. All those in favor say I. I. Any opposed? Motion carries 4 to Z. [Music]
