002USD um we did uh we have a protocol now where we didn't share with school office as far as the procedure to follow if any uh officials would come over on campus from immigrations and customers custom enforcement uhad and her team have has a protocol to follow um we sent a letter out January 29th to a family staff and the governing board uh January 31st we sent another immigration letter update to the governing board uh that's one thing that I sent to all of you last Friday uh Miss Christen King also asked from the copper news if she could put that letter and the paper she did came out today um the district office Miss Valen and I viewed a webinar yesterday from the Arizona School administrators and the gust wills and Feld the law
003firm that was talking about this topic of the immigration uh notices and uh what we have to follow as as a school as a public school district we have a fura the family educational rights and Privacy Act protects the privacy of student education records and restricts the sharing of personally identifiable information without parental consent this includes data that could reveal a students immigration status the federal law also supersedes any state Lev policy that seeks to mandate the release of student data so a long story short um immigration in customs enforcement officials must have a Judicial warrant to enter school property so the procedure that we're following U print a protocol from Arizona School administrators um and their work with the Donovan Communications Group is they had templates that they shared with us that we are
004following on campus the letters that you got coming from the Arizona School administrators and so uh if any officials should come on campus the first thing they have to do is is show identification show the warrant it needs to be a Judicial warrant uh the school office will share that with me I will review it and then share with our legal counsel to to verify how legitimate the judicial warrant is whether it's from a United States district court judge or United States Magistrate Judge and then we will notify the officials but parental consent must be present before anything else takes place so we just want to share with you in the community uh what we've been doing as far as just to trying to stay informed and keep all the staff and community and stakeholders
005informed uh today I shared what I'm just telling you with our school safety team very aware our campus security monitor Chief tibit our facilities uh leaders Mr Y and Mr cotton and also we share this information with our teachers today here in professional Devol as well the same page and I just want to share that with you uh this is evolving it's ongoing but it's it's good to be informed and so the last over the last week like I stated uh Arizona School administrators providing some very good guidance with communication templates that you receive and also the Arizona School administrators through their partnership with Gus Rosenfeld that also happens to be where our district legal council works at they provided a very insightful webinar and so we will just uh keep keeping me posted and
006the whole Community posted with any updates and uh whenever we can take part in the webinars we'll also uh take part in the webinars and just uh be fully as fully informed as possible so that concludes uh a report mostly on the the immigration uh situation update for everyone here and attendance and throughout the community question yes is is that policy for all law enforcement or just for more well we we have policy that we do follow also from uh asba as far as we have ji student rights and responsibilities jir student rights and responsibilities and also jih covers student interrogation searches and arrests so we have the most recent update from Arizona School administers but also Arizona School Board Arizona School Board Association we have those policies place so um it's just trying to
