we just Okay so we've already done consent agenda next item is the 2425 support staff hourly rate schedule we yes the beginning yeah it was right before call to visitors comments yeah it was C okay I thought that was an adoption of the agenda not the actual no you are correct you are correct now e is approval of consent agenda items C is adoption of agenda so we've done the approval of cons agenda item c and e yeah we adopted the pledge we did them the separate votes yeah we did the Pledge then we did approval the consent agenda you adopt the agenda and then it goes to a bus Pro you ad looking at the schedule here it's adopting the agenda Pledge of Allegiance approval of consent agenda and then public comments that's yes

okay so now yes the 2425 support staff hourly rate schedule Mr Hopkins members of the board advisers from True professionals with the administration have provis the classified already rate scheduled for the 2425 school year revised hourly rate schedule when approved will be used to issue 2425 classified work agreements recommend the approval of the attached to classified support staff R schedu we also have our professionals consultant C from Gober Unified School District Mr Tyler Moore here um as well okay and may I have a motion on that I'll make the motion I'll second any discussion that's f uh president Hopkin M of the board um so I worked uh to revise this schedule um there's there's two sheets if you go to the first sheet the 23 24 um this is kind of where where you

were a lot of these these rates were outdated um you can see the the 1280 is well below the minimum wage right now in the state of Arizona um and so um the salary schedule needed some updating um and then in alignment with Dr f and some of the the changes that we've done on the certified schedule in terms of increases if you go to the 25 2425 schedule um we've um brought up the ranges the rates um and created more of a range um this honors individuals who have more experience and then also creates a base rate for some of these positions um the reason we got got up to $15 is because we anticipate the minimum um uh minimum U hourly rate to go to about 1485 come December 31st so rather than

coming back forth to the board to bring another change uh which being proactive in the sense um and getting up to 15 to to make sure that we're good for the whole entire fiscal year as you know the minimum wages is adjusted on a calendar year right schools operate on a fiscal year so um anytime we can be par Ive and and not have much change throughout F school year it's very efficient um the finance staff and and the payroll um so that's some of the reasons why 15 is recommended uh as as one of your lowest hourly rates um and you'll notice a few title changes I think Dro can elaborate on some of those those are in alignment with some of the organizational chart changes and then just creating operational efficiencies as you

review this annually is best practice to look at your um work chart annually and evaluate where needs are um and so Dr has done that and I reflected those changes in the schedule here so that I would be happy answer question yes I had a question regarding the 2324 for administrative secretary the range is 17 to 29 then it changed from 19 to 24 I don't know how the range how get cut why did it go down to a level five instead of a level six the the levels per se were not as much um of a factor in terms of like they weren't really utilized as they were as they should have it um you can see on the on the schedule um you have level four 1280 to 19 and then you go

level 5 128 to 17 the levels weren't even being utilized as they should and so the the updated schedule is a complete basically tear down and and restart of your classified salary schedule okay and no employees were reduced um by moving to this new schedule so some of these ranges were were well above where employees were were positioned within the schedule so no employees were reduced okay by moving to this okay so what what decid when an employee goes from the low wage to the high one to GE of service GE of service um it could be um or in terms of levels or just even with I would think he's actually within the range like what would deter the range would be um like right annual increases at the board approves um whether it

be percentage based or dollar base um you would have that range move um at the same rate I don't that that hasn't been happening um I know the board has approved not why I was here but in the past has approved increases but the salary schedule has stayed the same so having a salary schedule now that moves with the increases um that would be an instance in where You' have somebody at various points within the range right somebody started this year at the bottom of the range but maybe somebody who has been on board for multiple years has been seeing those increases they'd be higher in the range than that employee that started say this year that makes sense but years of experience would be another way employees can get placed higher in the range

that's why you have a range um to honor some of those people who have potentially more years of experience within that job I'm completely confused what you so an employee let's say as the security monitor he starts off right now at what 15 $15 an hour this is again proposed schedule $15 okay so so when does he get to 18 so this would be only on on increases from the board on an annual basis um but there would be no there's no like um Merit pay for years of experience this it's almost impossible to be on that schedule because of the way the state budget Works you're funded on a per pupil basis they don't provide funding for years of experience unfortunate um so 95% of school districts have gone to ranges because um compensation

is is uh evaluated annually now based on the state budget and enrollment and so um the range gives you that flexibility to now look at it every year so they would never be a chance to go to 18 unless the board approves a competition increase for that individual so by individual wouldn't be everybody well that I think it's a later agenda item the rate increase so what what we're looking at now is just the salary schedule yeah and I think that's something we could do either way we could do it individually or we could do it correct for what this what this agenda item is is just setting a a baseline salary schedule for your classified hour staff and again like I showed earlier the other one was updated um this does take in consideration

that the next agenda item of increas okay are there any further questions about this okay okay we've had the motion you do yeah just real quick you know I mean I touched on it I was trying to go back and forth I apologize I wasn't here Monday so the levels 1 2 3 4 56 what was the difference between level one level two level three four five they W they wasn't being they weren't even being used I couldn't find any any research that supported that those levels had uh Merit in terms of like pay sounds like it was more used as categories rather than levels because level with the new schedule you can see now there's at least some you can see the salary increasing as the levels incre right and that reflection of the

job Duty right you see the job duties as as they get you know more you require more experience or like skill you can see at the he would now kind of resembl that now one thing um remember when I brought this position up a little while back about it just for me it seems like our campus security seems a little low on the scale because that's kind of a safety aspect High responsibility position I mean personally I feel I should be a little higher bump on that that's that is something we could add to a future agenda yeah yeah I mean I'm not trying to take anything away from nobody I think everybody deserves a decent wage um I just when we have campus security on there I think 18 Max for me person that

seems a little low there any other questions or comments on this item the same am huh I'm not saying saying all these but what school can afford but I'm not saying that custodians aren't worth what they're making at all or I'm not saying that at all I think um I would I would put uh campus safety a little higher wage personally and again I think that would be a a different board agenda item that's um that's fine so certainly the wants to looking this this is a proposal that um I utilize several you know my experience of other districts I'm where this placed um and again I um if that campus security Mar is certified or has other requirements duties that outside of my kind of norms that's certainly something I think the board can

bring back and say this should really be placed at level three or a different level right um again I use uh so of my resources to kind of um put these in some categories and so but again every school is different right that that responsibility for campus security for my district or you know America count District versus your District may be a lot different so you would maybe look at changing that because of those responsib a lot greater else yes okay anything further on this issue if not we've had a motion in a second so we need a vote all those in favor say I I I anybody say no approved I deserve okay next item on the agenda is the approval of the intergovernmental agreement with Sono AUM Community College Mr President members of
