up Mrs cot we have a very nice certificate for [Applause] her quality first first things first for achieving a quality first star rating five stars highest quality R exceeds quality standard just give a big awful [Applause] welcome like to to our staff our viewers watching and oh come on up here I know you're not shy they know you're not shy what would you like to say um for uh for the five star read it's definitely a team effort I mean I could not have done it without my pair of Pros Miss Bethany Miss shine Amber and of course um the supervision and guidance and support of the current Administration Dr so um and most especially my colleagues who we felt the the love support throughout the thank you next we like to recognize and from

where you guys are you can stand up that that's that's fine whatever you feel comfortable with our um Elementary School ka8 made an incredible jump from um 64.8 points to 77.9 13.03 which is an incredibly significant increase the research normally shows that uh anywhere from 5 six 78 points is is a significant increase they doubled that 77.9 one points for a b an a is 84.6 so we're only a little over six points away from an A but I'd like for all of our Elementary staff will you please stand up where's our Elementary staff please stand up W your hand raise your hand [Applause] sh raise your hand anyone of you want to say a few words for your Elementary would like to be the designated speaker I won't call on nobody come on up

here you're not shying you speak very well good evening your administrators so board the our board members thanks and I want to say um it's a group effort it's a teamwork and we can't do this without the help of each and everyone and of course our administrators did a great job also because they gave us their full support to whatever we need in the academics thank you so much and um we want to give a special recognition our high school was at 4 six points um they improved from 46.2 to 62.4 that's an incre that is M Rodriguez right you you're out there in in the field and that's that is incredibly difficult and that is impressive if you think about it too all of our staff and parents and community members and people listening

at home we want to a major roof renovation project last year so a lot of these classrooms rooms where this High School where this jump was 16.2 points was happening right Dr sh when people were moving classrooms during January and February and March right before testing work was going on the roof it was loud Mr Mano was trying to teach one time and he had to raise his voice level because of the noise on the roof that was for a few months 62.4 65 is a b our high school almost made two letter grad jumps which is incredibly difficult and almost never happens we're 2.6 points I believe from a be I'd like to ask if if one of our high school people can come up here [Applause] and Beall and okay but before you

come up here he didn't know that we were going to recognize a very a very uh you might know him his name is Dr Lance Shotz Arizona Department of Education this is to principal shabal congratulations the Arizona Department of Education School Improvement unit was excited to hear that AO high school has earned a c letter grade for the 2223 school year we applaud your success the hard work and dedication of your faculty and staff to improve academic outcomes for students is commendable as you know the state school Improvement Team Works alongside schools with a or F letter grade in an effort to facilitate the development of Foundations and strategies for success although we will no longer be working strategically with your school I know he's very sad about that as a sincere as a service

organization we will continue to be a resource to you for your continued success please feel free to reach out to your specialist anytime with needs you may have this is from Michelle Udall associate superintendent School Improvement Adam Schwarz Deputy associate superintendent school Improvement Allison Barber director State School Improvement Dr sh let you who wants to hear from our from our principal who would like to hear from Miss Dr sholz also right Dr Sto said the the jump that was made um is not just amazing but again with the movement that we had the constant noise the construction the trucks um changing of classes and and it just uh it made it even more difficult so it's it's um just just incredible that our teachers were able to to fight through that to keep the kids

focused and engaged through all the all that kind of conflict and outside outside noise that was continuously happening and uh Mr Mr Casey Miss Mercy they were having to do schedule changes constantly um work with teachers on on changing classrooms and getting them set up from elementary desks and tables so a lot of things were happening behind the scenes that you don't know and the fact that they were able to make that increase and really just were so close to to a b and not that far from an A which would have been incredible jump but to make that first step and then this year to to increase that and just keep moving forward no time at all the high school will be an a again as it was years ago and no doubt in

my mind one of our read teachers and Veteran teachers of the High School Mr V Senor if you could just say hello and maybe tell else he um this a work with everybody was involved it's Mercy Mr Casey and you know Mr Nick and all the teachers right and the Go I mean this is not enough the goal for the next year is to become that's the goal and uh we we have a video to share with all of you and also with our governing board members this is a video we shared October 13th as a staff just to try and keep working together building our relationships our foundation year two of moving forward of our transformation of heart pride and relationships this is Duke women's head coach Carol Lawson it's a short three minute

video but I believe the message it's it's still with me every day when after I heard it a few months ago I know it's with our staff we want to share with our governing board and our people listening from home Angelina talking with SH a couple days ago and one of the things we talked about was um how we all wait in life for things to get easier in your own life if you waited for something to get easier I just this I just gotta get through preseason be okay I just gotta get through my junior year high school and then the classes are going to get easier I just got to get to my spring my senior year college it's going to be easier it's what we do we wait for stuff to get

easier it will never get easier what happens is you handle hard better that's what happens most people think that it it's going to get easier life is going to get easier basketball's going to get easier school's going to get easier it never gets easier when happens is you become someone that handles hard stuff there so that's a mental shift that has to occur in each of your brains it has to because if you go around waiting for stuff to get easier in life it's never going to happen and then what happens all it's so hard oh I can't do it oh this I don't know when when is it going to be easy for me oh it's easy for other people it's not it's hard and the second we see you handling stuff handling hard

better what are we going to do we're goingon to make it hard we're going to make it harder because we're preparing for you for when you leave here not just basketball and life and if you think life when you leave college is going to be all of a sudden get easy because you graduated and you got a new degree it's not going to get easy it's going to get harder so make yourself a person that handles hard well not someone that's waiting for the easy because if you have a meaningful pursuit in life it will never be easy you're trying to win a championship you're trying to have a family ask your parents do you think it was ever easy for them to raise kids Ken is it easy it's not any meaningful pursuit in

life if you want to be successful at it goes It goes to the people that handle hard well go are the people that get the stuff they want people that wait around for easy you probably see my bus out they're waiting for easy the easy bus to come around easy bus never comes around got to handle hard okay so don't get discouraged through this time if it's hard don't get discouraged it's supposed to be and don't wait for it to be e oh I just got to get through the summer and then it'll all a sudden get easy in the fall no won't it won't it won't get easy in the fall so make yourself someone that handles hard well and then whatever comes at you you're going to okay we wanted to share with

you that's what we shared at our with our staff October at 13th so that's uh Mr President members of the board that's our superintendent report we wanted to really make sure to just recognize all of our staff our hardworking staff led by our principal Dr shabot um and we're not waiting for the easy bus to come around we're just going to keep working hard and handling hard better so thank thank you very much uh next item on the agenda is Awards and recognition Mr President members of the board we have um our monthly superintendent student of the month Awards and we'll start off with our fourth grade teacher Mr cesno come on up here Mr seeso gonna present his stud of the month you go sir good evening everyone I take this as a privilege

it's 5:30 and or 6:30 and then 7 or like 5:30 they're usually an hour and a half between each other if we have them on the same on the same day does this connect have them on the same day Okay C I want to revisit the um where we put in effect something where there is an eight hour window by the when the time they get home they step foot off the bus between the time that they come to school the next day I know I've already talked to you about that but it's like I know we don't have school Friday but if we had school Friday the kids wouldn't be getting home till 2 or 3: a.m. kind of situation so it's not feasible for them to come to school at 8:00 if they're

getting home that late so I would like to revisit that situation again yeah especially with the Third Day games that's my yeah sure okay yeah anybody else in the have anything to add to the next agenda then well hold on unless um are we going to be dibles testing middle the school year or middle of the Year Benchmark testing by then I I believe you know what I can check with Miss coming up so if we do have that then maybe an update on the Benchmark middle of the Year absolutely you uh you uh is that what they just did is that the benchmarking that we just did no for dibles is your primary um early literacy skills so there's three benchmarks Yeah we actually talked about that in our leadership if we have results

by then maybe if we can have that for the next agenda item if not we can do that in January when I believe so yeah fifth I think if we have that we we'll present the sure okay no more agenda items then I will ask for a motion to move into executive I'll make the motion to move into executive session Mr Hopkins Mr C I miss ol hi M Rodriguez hi we are now in itive session okay and
