001taken in and we've already appointed you acting Clerk so may I have a motion to adopt the agenda I'll make the motion I will second it hi can you please stand and join me for the Pledge of Allegiance United States job [Music] and I know it's not on the agenda but in honor of September 11th I'd ask that we all just take a moment of silence [Music] foreign and on to the first informational item which is the jom report the president members of the board uh GM coordinator Corey Williams and Jalen president along with the French coordinator of Mercy out on God and Robert Casey we'll make a report to the governing board on the status of the galem and title six Grant programs and before they do I just want to kind of share
002a little of a chronology about what is taking place from the last meeting to to this meeting and so we're all on the same page um on August 24th the leadership team of Dr chabotage Mr Casey also uh our grant specialist in Miss Williams our jail coordinator along with myself who met with Miss Joyce Council true professionals grants consultant to go over all the documents that you have on your attachments um on August 25th I believe Mr Casey and this Mercy I believe met with Miss cerventi if I'm correct um August 28th the leadership team of Dr chabot's uh Miss Adam calling Mr Casey myself and and JLM Cornelius Williams vice presidents on the body Treasurer cerventy to go over the information that you have in front of me uh the information from the Ade
003grants management Enterprise and also the breakdown all the line items the different information and I was presented the detailed description so we just wanted to share that uh with you I know also uh September 1st Miss Mercy also reminded me that there was an additional meeting I believe and um there was a parent meeting and uh September 7th I did what I did call my son a lot of President Sandoval I really wanted to be a great partnership and just to show up that were working in collaboration that that we really wanted her to present with the glm coordinator and our grants team just so well and I'll be on the same page and for transparency that that you all can see uh where we are in the process so uh that's where we are
004right now and so I'm going to turn it over to our leadership really quickly there's a doctor you're missing here because we have documents there is one two four the ones that we want you to have right there okay so um Mr Casey Miss Williams and our President we set up we sent us on the left okay good evening board members um I'll just quickly share a short breakdown of what was shared with you so documents one and two will be documents one and two is going to be the jom budget for fiscal year 2023 and budget for documents four and five will be for fiscal year 2024. now for fiscal year 2023 there's a total allocation of 14 but total budgeted amount is 10 416. that means we have a remaining amount that was
005not budgeted of thirty two thousand one hundred thirty dollars and 21 cents a breakdown of the budgeted amount is this so salaries and benefits this was for tutorials after school tutorials for our kids so high school we're the mentors well the little kids were the mentees for the treaties then there were other purchase Services supplies and other expenses and then they're indirect costs details of this is in but uh document number two now from from all these remember this is for fiscal year 2023 we only have until the 30th of September to spend of all these we have still a budget of 3436 and 99 cents is available under supplies and we're working closely with the jom community and spending this because we have until the 30th of September important dates again September 30th is
006when jom Grant to close for fiscal year 2023 that means all and spent Monies will not go to waste but will be rolled over for this year in the meantime what's available for Budget 2024 is just this so the allocation is 3059 and 5 cents and all of it is budgeted as of right now following this budgeted under um salaries and benefits for the teachers that they'll be working after school but this should be revised right it should be revised so a strategy was made after all those meetings we realized that you know jom Community have two big events that's happening this year so we will revise the budget to lower the salaries temporarily and then free up some money so we can have we can add more more budget items for what they need
007for the two big events but we know that we're going to revise it again as soon as the a roll over money should be available which we're expecting around November so you have questions for me how are you I'm okay um so I know this comes from Johnson O'Malley right yes what determines how much money that we get in our school that's a very big question that we don't know exactly how the computation is and the as the years go by we noticed that there's a there's a depletion of the the budget has lowered and this year is really the lowest so far last year was crazy 7 000 at first around seven thousand it started with seven thousand and then the rollover monies was added and that's why we had appointed and then a
008year before that if I remember right it was 8 000 something see we noticed that there was the budget every single year we don't know exactly why we actually got seven thousand dollars of movements from last this was fiscal year 23. for this year we had 3059 only but we have he gave us 42 000 I think it was or what yes correct so whatever was not spent so we have see the remaining amount of 32 000. so that 32 000 and some other monies that were not spent under this breakdown will be rolled over does it make sense but that's not until November right that won't be till November and that's why and just know that we're for fiscal year 23 we can't revise anymore because it's closing but we can revise 24. let's
009go get money for budget and we they really need some monies for the two big events that they're planning and that's why we're going to revise it to temporarily lower down the allocation for the salaries and benefits but then once they're all over money is available then you can add more back to it plus more items that they want out of there okay so how many kids are involved in this yeah we have I think about 86 or 70. um to answer that question like students for them to be electricity eligible we need to fill out five or six calls and submit to optimization for affiliation with their trust um we have something like in between 75 and 80 students qualifying in that criteria but we have more than 100 students who could be eligible
01020 plus students is that number going up every year down stays the same okay for the money gets going down but the number of students are going up is that what I'm hearing so will the money increase if those students complete those forms needed to establish tribal affiliation foreign if the funds received will increase if we get those families to complete their tribal affiliation documents yes but I don't think it's emphatic function of the number of students that is okay so it's not dependent on the number of students enrolled yes it will increase if we have more students higher share but it is not directly like the money is changing from 7900 3 000 something that is not just based on the number of students but if you have more students that will increase our
011money slightly not by thousands of dollars from a few hundreds of dollars and so this budget is made with you guys and the Dom committee and collaborating yes what usually happens is they're the one that gives us the line items then you'll be the one to add whatever they they want other there yes it is a collaboration how many kids do we have taking advantage of the children last last year it was about 35 students okay well Monday Tuesday and Thursday but we don't know how many are enrolled this year um I know Miss Griselda will continue to do that I'm always excited about what you guys do you know that I'm not being critical you're just really trying to get this in my mind where this money comes from how much money it is
012how to fix the kids how can we increase it right how we can increase it right yes and um so I mean I had a little family of the day Mom told me hey I'm going to pull my kids out of San someone I'm gonna put and I said well make sure you find out about the Judson O'Malley program because it'll affect your kids you know and um so and these kids get supplies school supplies all those good stuff and other activities foreign so this is just a little bit about the stuff we have going on just this year um we have the Native American day that's November 4th that's the awful Plaza I have a fire here I only have one too you guys want to share them okay okay so with this event
013a natural Community it's not just the Johnson O'Malley student program it's in for the whole Community to be invited um we have dance groups coming out of the sunset mode along with the high school classes from Santi mall and we even invited our class here to come raise funds um we have um The Band Southern country that's going to play chicken scratch throughout the throughout the event um we have a drum group that's four wins which is more for our kids to see what the tradition is really is about um the drummers are they really open about having kids come and talk to them and they even get to you know not really play the Drone but you know they get to see it up close um but that's some of our what our budget
014is going to um the next thing we have is our Christmas party and this takes place in the school cafeteria and what we do with this we provide a meal for them and and we invite their families the students and their families we interact with kids play games at the end of the event the children get a toilet paper as well as the adults the adults kind of get like a sometimes like home supplies or like you know little watches and stuff that um we get our toys from Toys for cuts and the mill is will be from our budget also um the reason why we do our meals kind of a bigger thing because some of our Native American homes are kind of poverty and um something so they don't always get a good
015meal you know during the holidays or something so this has been what we like to offer but you know and then um most importantly is the tutoring and the mentor program about to be starting in October we're looking forward to having kids be mentored by the upperclassmen who may love to think who they love um I've experienced myself or my children and my nephew they I they think they're the coolest kids walking around knowing these high school kids that Mentor them but they get their homework done um they have the help there they learn how to share they're learning how to you know send an orderly line to get their snacks and everybody like snacks so they're there and then some of our some of our budget also um I feel like uh this is
016um I think all of this is good for them just to influence them in positive ways because not a lot of kids don't do positivity or they don't have the courage to come out and talk as you know to their parents brothers sisters whatever um it just I just feel like it all reflects on how they participate in the classroom if they're more comfortable with a mentor or you know however they want to express themselves it's once they get it off their mind they are more focused on their schoolwork more focused on other things and other than going home um how we how we recognize our mentors is what we do we ordered T-shirts and they'll have a white shirt with our jom logo and not totally pointed out at either our events or during
017school they can wear it anytime usually um but that's what we have the biggest things coming right now we're already thinking about the budget for next year to get these things going because we do have a big graduation thing we like to get for the graduates and we hope to have 100 of our Native American students graduating Junior High and High School how are the mentors picked the mentors aren't volunteers okay um so they volunteer um and last year I think we had about 19 kids volunteer at first and I think by the end of it there was probably only about 10 that actually came you know and put work in and came to after school program and stuff so with those 10 those are the ones we absolutely want to recognize you know because
018everyone wants to join something the ones that actually put in the work for the children is what is what yeah but thank you guys for having us yeah [Applause] they're sellers yes I'm sorry there's a couple questions real thanks so the first question is on a scale one to ten what bang are we getting for our money with these kids um well last year wasn't much you know but this year I think herself I want to say a 10. so I hope I hope it all works out the way if you wanted to what would you want changed if anything would be changed what changed um just the funds to be available we've already had help so Mr Casey they're pretty fantastic yeah just just that little bit of participation went along we were just
019us and you know our Treasurer and vice president we're having big sales we're having Fry Bread sales you know trying to hold these things together and you know it sometimes it's not easy on us we have kids at home we have no we don't have work we got workable time so it's kind of harder but I mean we get it done I mean the kids deserve it so so how many kids we have in school and so 100 of them are Native American for what 400 kids and did you guys say that a hundred kids a Native American in the school just about it so one-fourth of the kids that we have in the school are Native American I don't think anybody would ever known that whatever against it that one-fourth of the kids in
020this coordinative Americans .3 percent it's about thank you very good any other questions or discussion okay then our next item then is the student school and state data report Mr President members of the board uh data analyst Robin Casey we'll make a report to the governing board on the status of the districts reports there's no board action necessary at this time this is an informational item on Mr Casey thank you thank you I mean we are a member it's not going to look uh flights are not going to look as ready as the previous presentation because most of the information is directly copied screenshots from the Stateside website information yes letter grade for Elementary and high school as the level grade 3 it is same preliminary data pending final grade so the state has given
021us a lot of information but the final grade is not yet decided cut scores will be like a recommendation for cut scores will be submitted to State governing board in September and the state will go over that in October and by November 1st we are expecting official grades which is in the meantime they have given points this is preliminary so there are there could be slight errors but we are not expecting any major changes at this point but there will be fine tuning happening with some of the some of these numbers so these are not viral but the final numbers should be pretty close to this for proficiency out of 30 we have 8.91 growth we got 50 out of 50. for real proficiency and growth we have a 7 out of 10 for acceleration
022and Readiness we have a 10 out of 10. we have thought of 75.91 points plus we have two bonus points so that adds up to 77.91 and the leather grade is better what are the bonus points for special education inclusion that's only what we qualified for how does it compare with the last year's data so in proficiency we have 7.68 last year now it is 8.91 growth from 38.2 to 50. yeah proficiency and growth is seven points acceleration and readiness let us take the same total points last year 62.88 plus two bonus points 64.88 compared to this year's total of 77.91 so close to 13 points and this is all for what testing this is kindergarten through eighth grade so the proficiency we are talking about is aasa so this is the English and math
023test for students in grades three to each one was it done April and April yes and some of the calculations will involve like a SLR test for email proficiency that is English patterns taking the asset address and science testers and qualifies for Morris points and so on additional criteria for proficiency the points came this way like third grade 27.86 and math 25.88 so the Proficiency in Ela and math combined and the person percentage of all professions is 29.7 converting that into out of 30 points we get 8.91 out of 30. so so this is by grade level students in grades three to eight to the aasa English language arts and math test so the proficiency points came from if they are partially proficient they get 0.6 points available total 30 points available okay and the
024numbers here are based on percentage so students who are partially proficient will earn 0.6 points per student and Minima proficient students will add one point highly proficient students will get 1.3 so they calculate add up all the points and then divide by the total number of students eligible and that is how the percentage is calculated so our fifth grade is beginning 40 out of 30 points fifth grade this is out of 100 points then average to 29.7 out of 100 then convert it into out of 30 points of it so out of 100 points our eighth graders are getting 9.3 yes so yeah 9.03 that's in math you can also say the details of like the growth component of it how the growth product s so the growth component based on how they performed last
025year if there were minimally proficients and if their growth is below average or low growth and average growth or high growth if they show high growth this is compared to strengths at the same in the same grade level in the same condition compared to other students how our students perform their improvements so this is calculated out of 100 uh I have a better slide on this one but the bottom line is like in English language arts 25 points eligible we are on 25 and in math we earned all 25. in that 25 out of 25-25 25 possible points to get all acquaintance yes so that raised me the question like um debating on how much more beyond the 25 possible points that we have so this is what the state said how they calculated the
026numbers if they are long road no matter how they performed last year we get zero points and if they're of average growth then we get one point question and if the growth is high then minimally proficient students will earn two points partially professional students will get 1.8 proficient students will get 1.2 and highly proficient students will get one point so using that I calculated the points for our students in so third grade students didn't have a prior real test so we don't they don't have a growth component so students in fourth through eighth grade we had 23 students eligible in Ela and the fourth graders and 27.4 points fifth graders 25 points eligible then 20.4 6th grade 18 students were included in the head growth component calculation they earned 21.8 points 7 grade 33 and
027they earned 26.2 points 827 students eligible and 36 points in English language in math the fourth graders did again beyond their eligible points 25 students and 28 points and first period in maths 26 students and 34.8 fines sixth grade 19 students and 27.8 points and seventh grade 33 students and it is 6.6 and in eighth grade 27 students they were only 22 points so what it means is where we had 126 students eligible in all Ela and we earned 131.8 points and in math 130 eligible students 149.2 points what it means is 256 students eligible command combining the two and we had total 281 points if we were eligible for more points we would have gotten 54.88 but there's a cutoff of 50. curious from telegraphs it shows a decline with eighth grade math is
028that is there subject introduced in eighth grade math it's just that more students struggle with no this is the same that wasn't a change in any of the standards last year but it is sometimes like the 20 like after taking multiple tests yeah sometimes there is some slight fluctuation um is the same teacher teaching seventh and eighth grade and you can see that seventh graders and points but in eighth grade but in turn you know one point per student yeah the same students 27 students and 36 points more than the number of students for real proficiency are proficiency level for Azalea test was law but our students demonstrated excellent growth so we had five out of points Five Points possible shots growth 2005 for proficiency so total seven points for acceleration and readiness um categories
029eligible is like reducing the number of ela minimally proficient in third grade and eighth grade math increasing oh sorry decreasing the number of students minimally proficient chronic absenteeism subgroup Improvement special education inclusion and so all out of all these categories as a cutoff of 10 points so we are at 13 points where there is a cutoff fee and total time based on the percentage of students attending um special education program if it reaches the state average or what percentage of the state average we have a vegan bonus points so we have two bonus points and for the science test students took in fifth grade students in fifth grade and eighth grade to the Science assessment and based on if they meet the state average or increase close to the state average there's a 1.3 sorry
0301.5 or 3 points eligible but we did not earn anything in the center of end of October there is one more science result that is supposed to come in I don't know if it is going to change anything significantly but uh as of now it is zero bonus points the same thing again um just to remind us like the total number of points we earned is 77.9 1 the cut scores for last year was like below 47.8 viewers Trading 47 to 60.1 was D and [Music] above 84.678 and does that change from year to year from the state yes they decide um they meet the State Warriors by the means in September and the Ade is presenting some suggestions recommendations for that in September and it will be finally adoption of job but if we
031use a scroll we have right now for last year it would be good received last year we had 64.88 so that was closer to the Lower Side of sea where this guy looking at these scores we will be in the middle of these but so even if they change it increase it slightly I'm expecting it to be a big step of the K-8 Elementary School sometime after being told me last year I presented I'm not sure if I presented this slide to the board but with the features I did present a plan for this year so I was projecting into reach 75.5 and this was the estimate management went below like we did not meet the proficiency goal of 12. but even beyond the 40 points for growth acceleration in Readiness we got all 10
032out of 10 as expected El proficiency here was a proficiency and growth I was estimating 10 points we did not reach that but still we stayed at the seven points and we did not end a 1.5 science bonus points but we did make progress on science so this is the high school 9th through 12th grade points and for proficiency 15.85 out of 30. this is based on the ACT test and subgroup proficiency Improvement 10 points so this year it was like the growth component they changed the calculation and it is the subgroup Improvement was previously calculation included into the calculation so out of 20 points possible for that component we received 18.75 these three combined real proficiency and growth seven points and graduation rate an hour of them for graduation rate but improvements zero out
033of ten and College and Career Readiness 6.8 points out of 20. total 58.4 plus three bonus points and the total 0.7 is 61.4 my good friend when we read self-report college if we're ready points how do we obtain that those points to self-reported right we can report anything right if we wanted to all right the one who is reporting it has to certify whether they are license on the line that this is all true and we have documents to support them so every year during summer I go over those and collect all the information and enter that information on into the state side the subjective or objective it is objective it is based on certain criteria how many credits they um certain points and so on we did pretty well of everything except for for
034that right the graduation rate Improvement we got zero out of ten and yeah collagen career readiness self-reporting those are the two areas comparing to last year our total points earned last year including 4.5 bonus points was 46.19 looking at proficiency we went from 6.76 to 15.85 um last year we had out of 28.53 growth points here combining these three items out of 20 we have 18.75 El proficiency and growth we had five now we have seven so from 46.19 right now we are standing in 61.4 English language arts the percentage is 63.18 ACD math is 44.17 we didn't get any points from alternators as well and overall proficiency is 52.84 that's like a little bit over half so out of 30 figure 15.85 the subgroup proficiency Improvement they got Improvement visual Improvement in two of
035the eligible categories we need to have at least 10 students in that subgroup that's mostly by arrays and also by income eligibility and the two categories we had 10 or more students we showed Improvement involved work and graduation rate improvements one out of one category that was eligible we are short improvements or maintained and that is Five Points subgroup dropout rate Improvement 4 out of sorry out of four categories eligible three short improvements uh we got total 3.75 and El proficiency we got three points high school did better than Elementary in coefficiency English Learners proficiency yield growth was lower foreign [Music] and this is how the graduation rate points calculated and so this is from the year before it's like it is always lagging by a year and because I thought about 10 points from
036that and last year's elbow from last year's graduation rate was 88.89 and it is not about 90 percent and it is not higher than the year before so we did not get any points for that bonus files special education 1.5 out of two possible points we got 1.5 and for ACT Aspire percentage of students tested between 90 and 95 faster we get 1.5 we had tested 95 to 100 over 95 percent get a valid score we get three bonus points we did test of over 95 percentage of the students but some of them did not have a valid score that's why we got 1.5 I didn't have valid score leaders say in writing that's where mostly like we do not get a valid score for the writing if they don't write long enough then it
037is not sufficient material to create it they'll be considered as not tested don't do their balance so once again total points and is 16 1.4 and last year's credit scores where 48 and Below was it B and we had like a 46 point something and this year if they keep the same but this was like a way below the priorities course so up to 82 and about is a 65 to 82 that's a very wide band is B and 48 to 65 is a c and Below 48 is the and 31 and below is yeah protector organ BSC if the scores remain the same as and what will be last year we're supposed to be I used to be an eight like looking at our growth right now we're so close to B so this
038is one my projection or like what we wanted to set as a call to improve increase the proficiency to 13. but we achieved 15.85 for the growth and at 15 and 18.75 and College and Career readiness the projection was 15 but we only earned 6.8 English learners we were hoping for a 10 out of 10 but we reached seven graduates and out of 10 I already knew that it was going to be a zero at that point because it is and spent bonus points we were hoping for two and got 1.5 science bonus will be drawn it is fire bonus I was not expecting it to stay but it is there and I was hoping to reach the 66 but we didn't reach quite there but we were at like Five Points you know and
039when you come up please where you expect us to be how do you go about doing that so look at it okay it's not doing this so for Kate we have earned all all the possible points for drugs 50 out of 50. so we cannot improve that and we have a 10 out of 10 in acceleration and we are still about seven points away from an A Grade based on the prior years so to get to that 85 um the a grade will be possible only if we are able to maintain that growth momentum and move the students into proficiency so we have it okay we have to improve the proficiency and from 9 through 12 to get better on the proficiency last year that was the one set of students so this year we
040have a different set of students but still that's a good group of students and we have to maintain that like their short Improvement last year on map so we have to keep that momentum with them and at the same time we have to improve on the College and Career readiness that area how we do that is like students taking City technical skill assessment so students in their Career and Technical education program like culinary class digital photography and we have the Aeronautics program air transportation Electronics program those students at the end of year two they take a technical skills assessment and if they get a 60 most programs have a 60 card score so if they're on a 60 or better then they end points for us for that career readiness the same way completing FAFSA
041so that is a parallel financial aid application that's a preparation for college going to college so that will also bring us points students completing pasta passing the thing as workers that is the amp Services vocational aptitude battery preparation for military or other services so students earning 35 points or more will earn points for the school and taking dual enrollment courses college classes they earn points for us so their credits was there on carrier or college path and they also bring us points when they graduate and also students taking AP courses and passing AP exam will bring us credit s bring us points for the college tournaments so for high school short term what we can change is the College and Career Readiness and this is where we can work on and make changes preparing students
042for the as well test making sure students are completing FAFSA and preparing our students for the CTE assessment and also making sure that most of our students as many students are taking CTE program and completing it and being successful so that's all I had any questions I have a question for mostly so on scale one to ten how do you think we're doing about the Improvement we are going um a really good place I would say like a date or nine and proficiency um we are not there yet but if we keep the momentum we will be there so because some of our students have been performing so low and when we look at students who are staying with us over multiple years we are making progress so challenges here are students are not staying
043with us for all the time some of them they are new and they're here for a couple of years and then they go somewhere else and come back so that is one of the challenges another challenge is Teachers so we had the same teachers for multiple years um even though we do have very good teachers it takes some time for them to know the students and be able to work with them and make that and learn um all the Arizona standards and all those like teaching methods and so we are working on both of those like Mrs started with working on new teacher induction program that helped us with introducing all the teachers about the material and teaching strategies and all that um the other part of it is not within our control so there
044is no use of complaining about it so who is coming here willing to learn will do our best work for for our kids we have started with VLC last year and now we are we're in full course this is again last year we started with just the fourth in sixth grade this year whole team to help the LCS and what we do in PLC is so our Reading Writing and math and I think science is from CBC is having common formative assessments after each essential standards so after reaching an essential standard they they test for the common assessment everyone that does not pass should get more support we're still in the process of starting field Wednesday last week we had a training a PLC training for all our teachers so they'll understand how it works
045and from there we're going to just schedule the regular plcs and then add more support so that's why I think I think it's in the program meeting we'll have the after school tutorials for this meeting I'm not sure so that's for high school everyone that needs the extra support because they fail that they fail a common formative assessment or a benchmark assessment they will need um to join the after school tutorials or the before school tutorials to get more support and then can test again for better grade so that's a targeted support for for kids that's not getting it well for elementary the support will be embedded in their schedule so that schedule will be in the afternoon for for tears to read that we're still in the process of starting that they they started
046lastly the first PLC getting the norm set up was expected and then we go from there so that optional for high schoolers should come to that tutoring when they they mandated to come hoping it will be it will be not approved so we have what we call racing expectations document um administrators but they're still reviewing that and maybe at some point getting a review or and see if if it passes then they will reports that will be helping them right and for elementary you said I was gonna be tier three intervention there were three after intervention during school so there will be an after school and also during school because we've noticed that not everyone you know comes to the office and is it that you see this based on standards and yes business then
047is also for for grades came to two will be called as a foundation Health skills is it reading and math or just one of the other do you think we'd ever go to standard-based grading in the elementary you've tried if it's kinder so Kinder is not using ABCD app anymore but we still don't know how to incorporate it in our school but because I think that's so informative because then you focus really on those standards as Educators but then I think when parents get that information at home they know exactly where their student stands on each standard and it's a lot easier I think to um I guess inform your parents too where exactly their student is um we've tried using it I mean I think it's extremely valuable if we do end up moving
048over to a standard-based grading at our primary level just especially this is tried it last year so we ended up with using a paper instead of using PowerSchool it's healthy you know there was uh you noticing that there is growth because you really are Beyond textbooks last year the training but from around early in mid February to the tests in April the fourth to sixth grade related the leading plcs yeah but then also the seventh and eighth grade group started doing a performance assessment pilot and then also um uh even the high school got involved with the performance assessment pilot I know this year but they're going to give you the NTI the training at the same time this pocs are happening a lot sooner yeah and the growth really improved now like he said
049the proficiency now that's the next step right it started last year we just want to continue yeah and I think even pushing it down to those lower grades too so let's see yeah with K3 when you bet last year was K3 [Music] but this one now is going to be embedded in your schedule nice what's What's also new this year will be the performance matters so um The Benchmark assessment so we don't have map anymore Benchmark assessment will be every quarter to the last week of a quarter will be the Benchmark assessment and if we have the raising expectations to true it means that everyone who fails will be required to to attend after school tutorials or before school or that extra support for 12 sessions and then take the assessment again for a better
050grade how quickly do we get data back on this course it should be like instant right it's too easy okay 15 minutes that's why we went to Performance matters was um adaptive so it's not actually testing what the kids were learning in the classroom so with the performance matters but whatever essential standards that we're done in a classroom that will be assessed yes makes sense nice great presentation yeah as always thank you thank you very much and I have to say this thing for myself that congratulations are in order yeah we're proving so we're getting better that's what we want right that's one that's what it's all about and we're improving and so congratulations very please there's no more on that then our next item is classified additional compensation for Angelina voluntary Mr President Memorial
051200 additional compensation for engineers our assistance to the finance office for the 23 24 school year reward actually necessary at this time this is an informational item only what are you doing yeah I mean what what are you doing what I know you're doing something because you more money but but what are you doing did you take over part of Venus's job or or what what are you doing so uh between the two of us the last time uh Lori and I worked on visions of doing payroll or any kind of a financial accountable mine was in 2015 and hers was before that so the the programs and everything have changed and so we tried it we had to figure out payroll just add the jump and then we had to figure out accounts payable
052and paying the bills and doing all the stuff we've had to um to work together um and like I said that I I have a more updated if you can call Ten Years flag being updated um the last time I used visions of payroll I took a workshop or anything it was 10 years ago so we've been on the phone to professionals we've been on the phone to human counties that tried they're really getting annoyed with us I know they don't but they're like hello every time they enter the focus we're like we don't understand what this is and we you know the lead is not populating on this or whatever so we've been sitting with uh with our heads kind of Knocked together trying to to get into a general Rhythm and work we're
053now finally trying to get into the Rhythm with them the gingers will be six hours and um and glorious will be eight I'm still they're still focusing on on payroll and getting everything to where they have to they can do it with their iPhones they're almost there but they're not there yet so then everything that kind of Falls underneath I'm just helping and shoveling and picking up and throwing into the cart so that they can do one thing at a time and then we'll throw chainsaws in for them to juggle but once they get the bowling ball struggles then I'm doing the chainsaws while they're not looking what we've also done it is really taking advantage of funnels who actually had their CFO and payroll manager Consultants came down just a few weeks back we
054spent the whole day here in the finance office so they were helping all three uh Miss Ginger Miss Claudia and Los Angeles Angelina and they're uh they're also available there for us especially Matt from a payroll so they're really walking us through step by step on a regular basis and we're going to have them make it a consistent plan to come down here at least one of them once a month and that's been indelible it's been very helpful just just to get more uh more feedback just how we can have the best practices and be more efficient so they've been a big help I'm not against Angelina getting a raise um an arm I'm not you know she's been a valuable part of the school for a long time but are you going to have
055to continue working in the accounting doing these or going to come a time when the ladies are going to get it and you're and you're going to be able to just resume your your regular duties or we're hoping by the by the end of the year so things will start this how do you do everything you do your own just eat a quick one there's been a lot of time and spent or late nights where we believe this is we get here before arises this morning so but things got to get done well thank you thank you next item on the agenda is extra pay and volunteer position employment Mr President there was the board of the individual expressive interest to be the corresponding positions for the 22-24 school year there's not board action necessary
056at this time this is an informational item only eating did Mr let's go get his um fingerprint card yesterday okay any other questions do not turn in his thing never mind never mind okay if there's nothing else on that the next item of business is the approval of transfer of land parcel from ausd to Vista Mr President member Ford with the curry school campus was sold by the school district to an investor and then subsequently to be sold to isda one parcel was inadvertently omitted parcel number 401-232-370 addressed as 441 West Esperanza Avenue Unified School District Remains the owner of record for the slot is the is requesting a transfer of Interest property from the awful Unified School District the school district's legal counsel is recommending a transfer of property there is no board action
057necessary at this time this is an informational item only railroad it's essentially one of the driveways Elementary School there's two driveways one of them is owned by the county one of them is currently owned by the school district and there's a wash right between them so I've been walking my dog on school property for years now yep this is the cafeteria I think that's the County Annex Building where they do the Ceramics class the cafeteria would be just off to the just off street now because the County Annex has two buildings it's right where the pressure is now as well because that's my office and then next door towards the gym okay yeah and I was surprised because Aaron called me about how to get it on the agenda and I was like oh that
058seems important to me because that's somebody gets injured on that driveway that's coming to us as a district and I was like I don't even think anybody in the district knows that we still own that okay when everything okay give me further questions on that next item then is the approval of a fee schedule agreement for Tender Touch Therapy Services Mr President members of the board attendant touch therapy services is requesting the approval of the attached fee schedule agreement for Occupational Therapy Services for the 2224 school year the agreement is attached and approved by ausd's legal counsel there's no board action necessary at this time this is an informational item only so what is this all about well this is pretty much uh Mr Guthrie Mr President Mr Guthrie destroying a proposed fee schedule for
05923-24 on-campus Occupational Therapy Services in-person Occupational Therapy Services shall be provided it has the rate what what is included in the rate therapist travel expenses is time spent direct occupation of therapy treatment in accordance with students IEPs that's very critical um therapy testing scheduling students completing daily therapy treatment Corporation of student materials and treatment activities um those are some of the key components but especially it's going to help with IEPs we have to stay in compliance and have this services go ahead I'm sorry I always think of OT as like like zipping zippers like buttoning buttons like you know Itsy Bitsy Spider motor skills their motor skills but it's like you know uh buttoning buttons or a time that your shoes or you know balancing this or that so I would think of it as
060like Itsy Bitsy Spider like you're getting your fingers to match up and then turn and match and turn it's regular motor skills that they're teaching them so they send a therapist down here yes and that happens how often well uh to give you a definite answer to that to check with our special education department I was wondering the same thing too since it says it's 900 per day that's right once a week right it might be once a week every other week that's usually about that that's what I was a little bit worried if it was an everyday thing I was like oh that adds up real quick usually when they're down they try to get all the Care okay yeah I'd have to get that for you Mr country the exact number I would
061have to get to work so what do you think about 600 number it's valuable well and we're usually required to meet their IEP yeah we're really uh our special education department is really going through a transformation is very positive we have someone here a few days a week helping out our team our team so we're really just getting more and more efficient in so many different areas in our campus this is one and we never approved this before I don't recall it either right now we're doing it each year okay that makes sense then because then if it's a five-year contract it would have my first four years on the board just happened to be when it wasn't it had already been decided before yeah existed [Music] okay probably heard it called otpt in speech
062yeah yeah me [Laughter] make sure you've laughed so much the next item is the approval of the out of year invoice for Konica Minolta Mr President members of the board a list of outstanding invoices from Konica Minolta the district's copy machine provider or send to the finance office on August today it was 2023. we have the invoices 7601 1205 and 8871 were built out of a different fiscal year 2020 and 2021 for usfr and the auditory General's office the board must approve the payment of any out-of-year expense the invoices are attached there is no board action necessary at this time this is an informational item only do we know why there were a lot of you like is it just the company failed to send it to us um I think just like uh to
063go back to what Miss Angelina said earlier we are we have a new team who's going through all the all the things that we have in place from accounts payable invoices everything else and so uh this was an outstanding balance that we need to pay to notify us yeah so uh we have to do it but we actually met today as a new District Office Team and we're going to make it a regular basis that before I was meeting here in the district office to go over so that we're on top of issues just like this one okay it's getting more efficient okay any other questions on that you bet you don't have anything to do is that is that two-bedroom everything to do all day long yeah okay there's no more on that the
064next item is the call for possible new agenda items for the next meeting and I have one I'd like to make we have discussed before on the board the possibility of including a member of the student leadership at the table at school board meetings I'd like to do that I mean they wouldn't be a voting member but we're here for the students and it's good to have them have a voice at the table it also in my opinion is good leadership training for the student leadership if they want to and I wouldn't require it of them but it's kind of a I would think we would let the student body government pick right who that individual is yep yeah that's I mean that's to be discussed I just wanted to put that out as an
065agenda leaders student representative so one particular class are we gonna do all four classes no I was thinking one strong student um you're probably a senior senior student if it could be but like I said I didn't want to like require the student you know as they have other things going on too and they're not even paid as well as we are for being here is there anything else people would like to see on the coming upcoming agenda okay and next item is I will ask for a motion to adjourn I'll make the motion I'm a second [Music] hi I'm being adjourned at 6 45 . recording pause
