002cerventek good afternoon everyone my name is seen our Jon program brushed aside in regards to our funding I'm the person who turns into requisitions I'm the vendor I get reimbursed with an approved po we have not had access to our funding since the beginning of this year when the business management I realize a new business manager was hired and totally disregarded our program I also understand that we still don't have access to our funding I'm not opposed to um our new jail and coordinator they will be voting on tonight however I'm wondering if we do not have our funding how is our JLM coordinator going to be paid um you know I just think for a moment if any one of you had a backing account with forty thousand dollars in your bank account you
003had no access to it because a bank employee just didn't come to work or didn't want to do their job and you had a big family you had to provide for with no funds well we've had to hustle we've had numerous sales um Sonic hybrid big sales donations parents you name it to fund all our activities since the beginning of the year and that was our after school program where we had to provide snaps include for all the children our field thing our graduation gifts and banquet for our graduates and our eighth graders who promoted and there are many other things that our kids missed out on because of the lack of funding um I understand that Cindy and grisawa have spoken to some of the board members into the superintendent and principal I also
004know that Mr Casey is in charge of people being in charge of the grants this coming year uh you know for me that's not enough until I see our actual funding come back to us where we're not out there hustling begging everyone to donate to us this is unacceptable [Music] um I have actually done the grant process with Dr carriero when she was here and not ones that we have to jump through all the Hoops that they were asking Mr sane to do what was our program coordinator at Good Times um only to find out later on that that the things they wanted Mr sane to do were the job of the business manager because not even Venus knew what that process was so she couldn't tell us or Mr saying what to do so

007all the Red Raiders certified classified uh that the next step now is you plus motivation equals success to give us a guide to follow to just kind of uh getting ready for I'll get started at the open house very successful uh Dr Wilson I welcomed a lot of families there was a long line outside hundreds of families were there uh very proud of our partnership with the Pima County Sheriff's Office 100 backpacks they passed them all out um we also promoted the August 7th classroom apparently having breakfast for the first day of school and we also were passing our Flyers August 12th for the fall football the bleachers August 7th they really have to say no Dr Chabot and I were talking about this the classroom parent group did a great job there's a parent
008to my left who was in charge of the station by the fourth fifth and sixth grade classrooms and they had they had snacks fruits coffee water juices and we also had another station set up in the primary building with their intent set up it was just a really a great feel I got to see quite a few of the parents um some of the parents I got to see were Mr Bissell uh Grandma Sandoval a lot of everyone was so happy you just saw the look on their faces walking the head up shoulders back but we talked about this it just it felt good it was very good vibe all throughout campuses parents were going there walking away with their coffee and just real great start to the year and integration the classroom para group
009was really doing a great job great job um August 8th yesterday we had a roof renovation project meeting a long story short we had our EMC two architect here at Sun Valley Builders project manager Progressive Roofing project manager Dr Chabot mriona and I and the next the next phase is the primary building and cafeteria will receive the final roof coating the Don's medical representative will conduct a pre-coding inspection uh Mr Perry from Progressive roofings assured us that they were assistant superintendent for Progressive Roofing Yorkshire will be on campus just for the oversight of the remaining part of the roof work to make sure it is all done the most efficient way possible I wanted to share some really good news I'll just pass this down Miss Olson uh this is the ASB back to school
010edition goes to all over 250 K-12 public school districts we made their front page on the left you see uh maybe you see some pictures of uh of some of our students in the Aerospace program the robotics program also in the um Electronics program and on the bottom left is a picture of two of our board members Mr President Statewide got this at home well uh that's that highlights all across Arizona what's going on in Ajo and I can look into how you guys can all get that information well that's uh but this is great news uh um so I wanted to share that with you also I really want to highlight just uh this is something to be very proud of and just on the copper news the last Edition all the front page
011where all the awful Unified School District the parking lot project the first day of school and then you can see again the classroom parents here this is really great just to highlight what we're doing um wanna also share with you you have in front of you the false cleanup this is going to be our third cleanup so first first March 4th this is going to be this Saturday we want to try and just be even March 15th you can just focus on the Bluetooth at Jack Peterson stadium and just paint it red and white uh I've already met with Daniel about the focus and we have our surprise ready paint brushes rollers buckets so it's going to be this Saturday 6 a.m we've been working with some of our parents also throughout the community uh
012spreading the word and uh another uh met with another parent just this morning Mr Robertson and just share this with himself some more so a lot of great things going on a lot of ways to just try it and bring the community together as best as possible um another positive to share with you is this is Italian Athletic Association of softball 2023 Cactus region Champions all passed all around very nice uh just to share with you um just a lot a lot of uh sure a lot of um you know a lot of different things going on of course we're always you know looking for ways to get better always do that but why did it also celebrate just uh that's a great accomplishment of the district being recognized Statewide by asba on the Asda

022for coming here from Jamaica towards the end of last year um and throughout the summer probably second half of last week of the summer she's just really blossomed and she came to me she's curious about the position we discussed a little bit gave her some information and she's got no one ready to go she really puts her heart into honestly everything that she does yeah she's going to do great in this position okay and then just to make sure that we're since we've had a past of not following it just make sure we've gotten the approval of the JLM committee for her in that position I spoke with uh Mr Silva twice and um just the other day on the phone talk in person on open house tonight when Jon was actually passing out any

024I want to just state that this is very critical we had a new teacher induction for most of our staff July 28th and July 31st and it really set the tone and this is something that that was done in planning with the leadership team Dr Schultz Nissan Mr Casey this is real similar to what the only Unified School District does the teachers have two full pages to come in and just apply and prepare lesson plans bear with each other for two full days collaboration planning it sets the tone for the whole year and you can feel it we've walked around campus every class we walk into you're seeing the same structure and formatting expectations it's just whether it was first grade or 12th grade or ninth grade and this is what um I believe a
025plus school districts do or start doing to really set their tone so uh and be on textbooks we're continuing with a year or two so I recommend the approval of the adult teacher to take part in Saturday non-contract dollars foreign [Music] next item of business is policy approval second reading of the ikc class rankings grade point averages yes uh Mr President members of the board um as we call the first reading was the white 27th so uh AUST is aiming to enhance academic rigor by introducing a weighted grade point average related GPA system starting in the 2023-24 Academic Year this change in live applications from class ranking honor roll and the selection of valedictorian and salutatorian beginning with the 2024 cohort the implementation of weighted GPA will lead to the maximum GPA exceeding 4.0 ausd
