through here Dr Chabot yes Miss me here I have a motion to adopt the agenda I saw a move Mr kurz which is I miss Duncan aye Mr Hopkins aye Ms Robertson aye motion passes four to zero okay so please thank you and I see we have no public comments so we're on to the informational items start with the governing board report of current events um before we start with I don't know if anybody has any current events to do but I would like to request that we take a moment of silence in memory of Laura Trujillo who's a valuable member of the board who passed away absolutely come on okay thank you for that if anybody else on the board have anything to report and we're on to the superintendent's report of current events

Mr President um in December we were January yes but I just wanted to share with you two uh two gold I had two reports to give though the first is actually on current events um have them dated uh just you have an excellent board of directors of Officer opportunity wanted to make sure you all were aware uh five officers serve on the executive committee on the asba board of directors president president and that treasurer secretary and immediate past president so you must complete an online application by 5 PM on Thursday November 2nd let me know if you're interested I have I have the information with me I don't know if you don't know what is from uh asba was sent out yesterday board of directors um new position descriptions uh you know just I just

figured I would share this with you and so I think I got a copy of what everybody else was looking at uh there should be two of them there's one that's Staples okay that's good sorry if you have one is a single page and one is that two-page statement yes and uh the other one that we had I wanted to give you an update which I put on this Venezuela with the as a USD for Innovation project we met here yesterday did a property walk for maybe about a couple hours in total with EMT to The Architects Sun Valley builders and contractors Progressive roofers and record the third party quality assurance team we both have been put in contact with the superintendent for Summer Valley um you will actually be here you will be here

during the process of staying here in Ajo so we'll be in close contact with him but both of us and history on um we took a property walk to assess the buildings that will be completed first during this this is a great opportunity and so we just wanted to all walk together it was probably around eight of us and and the first areas that's gonna that are going to be looked at for the representation is the primary building and so we are looking at the same thing is about how are we going to do this also talking about the next phase after the primary building the cafeteria some of this brainstorming some ideas uh Dr should also notify the teachers right already just to be prepared uh we're going to meet in a couple weeks

after after fall break and um the start date depends a lot on when the materials arrive so hopefully they're looking at anywhere from the first to the second to the third week in November um trying to be strategic to as far as with the displacement um we we shared Our concern with the cafeteria just how we're going to try and get that set up logistic wise their plan is to be here over the uh can we call it a break got to give them a good two weeks to where any work they do will not affect any kind of uh procedures but most likely when the students come back there'll still be some adjustments to be made but um very positive uh just really gave us some good Insight on what they want to do

so it was a very productive meeting we're going to stay in touch on a regular basis I believe on a weekly basis they have our contact information we have theirs and so um we're looking forward to this great opportunity to beautify our our campus so what we're excited about it also an update with the Title IX training um we've gone through some training I have there some days for you when the different staff members have taken the training and I apologize for not reporting this previously but um August 19th Dr Conley went through some coordinator training uh September 19th I went through some decision maker training that I also shared that training with Dr Cheval so we have two decision makers on campus for the Title IX process um we also want to send another

staff member to Investigator training hopefully in January so Dr uh Conley is is serving as the coordinator in investigator but we also want to have her to have another investigator to help to investigators to decision makers the trust provided the training very informative gen Corey very very informative they shared with the solid templates all the documentation we have updated the uh our website to have copies of the formal complaint form on the district website and also copies of the PowerPoint on the training also on the district website yes there we there we go so it's been it's been a good process to where Dr chavose myself and Dr Connie have have been a very educational process and the trust has provided really good Insight so uh just to give everyone an update on that and

where we are also board docs training um our board secretary slash executive assistant slash historian Ms Valenzuela will take the training uh October 20th it's going to be all day it's going to be intensive Thursday October 20th two sessions one morning and one afternoon so we're just going to have her over here um sealed away here in the conference room we're really excited about that I think this is a great a big step forward for our district is to have more docs it's very efficient other districts have it throughout Southern Arizona and so uh we're real excited about it so that's a little uh superintendent's report and um also just came out in the conference of front page the homecoming beautiful picture of our court and the floats the students did a great job of

incorporating to see all the different floats at work last week so it's great to see the students working with staff uh parents so that is the one pager the superintendent's report on current events you also have the um 100-day uh Plan update which is what I want to keep doing with you not just during the weekly uh go any more weekly updates every week but also doing the the uh the board meetings and and you have you know for the for the sake of not being redundant I won't read the days and the goals those are highlighted but I'll just kind of go through kind of go through the activity as far as what has helped guide the constant Focus during this 100 day of plan so it was a real good uh some real

good sessions during the Arizona rural School Association conference just really I want to focus on the map assessment which is what we do here so I really thought that was very valuable because my background is more on Puerto Rico so this really got me to be more familiar with the map growth assessment the reading and math very good presenters our research scientists and so also um I wanted to make sure and highlight the decision maker training but I won't go into that I just said that report International Day of Peace was very very I believe very successful we had a great delegation from the um the mayor around 20 or 30 members from the mayor and council members a lot of great dancing uh great partnership overall with uh Mr Cooper from hisda International desert

Alliance Sheriff's Office the fire department it's really a great Community Partnership building experience it was great to see everybody um you also have their uh meeting with the the the CEO and director of Health operations from Desert Sunita they want to uh want to get involved and partner with the district and so uh right away they got involved with our garden our apartment our elementary Garden in the primary building uh they came over and helped out and they want to help out with uh and talking with Dr shavokes about supporting the science curriculum for the Pre-K and third grade over there so I think we think that's a great opportunity and uh and um Mr Leonard and Mr Cardenas Rivera and the garden looks good and so I think that's a great great step forward

um uh regarding uh we also have a campus security monitor positions and the uh being advertised we're really excited about that uh Dr Cabot has has really expressed a great deal of enthusiasm about that position coming to fruition and just having an additional layer of security here on campus along with rsro and also with our with our Security Academy so we're excited about that really want to highlight if I can as you see the next three uh the next three uh entries on professional development we have the traditional professional development with our staff and the teachers but we went ahead and just in collaboration of Dr Shavon tonight um wanted to try to go a little bit more above and beyond so you can see here we had a professional development with a special education

department you know well he was doing certified staff I went ahead and I'll go ahead and work with our especially a 14 paraprofessionals our special education director to Resource teachers and our special projects the secretary just going over as you can see there um going over the the focus and the vision um instructional strategies that that I was able to obtain from the that were shared with us during the Arizona rural School Association conference um we had every every paraprofessional complete their individual professional Vision they fill that out and they gave it to me and I have it up in my office to serve as a good reminder of what their individual professional focus is we want to know how do they want to experience professional growth also they completed the characteristics of effective administrators

and leaders they shared that with us from from the special education department of what they feel their characteristics are for us so this will serve as a good guide for to help us in our day-to-day job performing duties um they uh they expressed a lot of enthusiasm and excitement about this just sharing that is they're happy that something like this is being done with them and their department and they really just go they feel very big the comments were that they felt very valued and they really feel like a part of the team um we also had a professional development with the maintenance department um the same the same day he was he was busy you know up working with the certified with the teachers so we had a uh I went in and had

the maintenance department here same thing we talked about the Red Raider Division and focus uh high expectations we also had them complete their individual professional vision every single one of them so that we know what they want to focus on and how they want to be part of the team moving forward we also had them complete the characteristics of affected administrators needed from their perspective it was very interesting with both groups special education department and the maintenance team two of the top three characteristics that they had listed two different groups at different times they had communication and respect and their top terrific characteristics so that's going to serve as a guide for us working with them that these are the characteristics they value for their leaders um they also Express a great deal of enthusiasm

of what we share with it we share with them also the uh the Les Brown It's Possible video he used to give that home both groups you really really valued that we had a aapd with our leadership team Dr chabotz uh Mr Casey and Miss Adam horn we looked at a data analysis for for the map results reading in math quarter one um we also I also wanted them to complete their individual professional wishing so just to get from every different staff member what is their individual professional vision for this year to help set the focus in the course for this year to help us all go towards uh that in the end result of a academic achievement relationships when the feedback's being given about the characteristics that's hitting directly with relationships that's going to

help guide us towards academic achievement the relationships part so uh also had in there just a debriefing with the international native peace coordinator just to go about over what went well and how we can always start finding the territory to start planning for for the next event really want to highlight the very last uh entry here we it was last Friday and it was a lot of things were going on at the same time homecoming week we had the parade the philosophy just filled with the enthusiasm the excitement and we had our assistant superintendent Kevin Carney from the vale Unified School District in the training to the to uh the Leadership Retreat team and there was a good about nine of us there both of us these are Mr Casey Miss Adam Khan Miss Shelley

Mr rigidon Miss yaryan Miss Robles and Coach Q and it was really it was really intense but it really got to the coral we were really talking about the vision and Mission and we need to really have established here that can serve as a guide in moving forward with Beyond textbooks and it was very explicit he stated this is going to be a good three to five year process it's going to take time but it has to start with you guys first and it has to start with your vision and your mission so he really took us to some exercises to where our that Leadership Retreat team we got it to start okay let's really take a hard look at our at our vision and our mission and so they really helped grow this that

has helped provide guidance for for us uh with our professional developments coming back we have a more clear focus and sense of purpose but he was incredible he just he didn't stop walking around in three and a half hours and it was it was pretty much direct lecture but it was so intense and the feedback from the teachers uh that were there this was so inspiring I want to continue with this how can you make this even better how can we focus on our vision and our mission more directly so it's it was a great shot it was like a vitamin B12 shot right in the yard and and we're really excited about moving forward so that's pretty much the the um 100 day uh report on our current events and uh thank you for

your time thank you okay now we have a motion to accept the consent agenda I'll move Duncan aye Mr Hopkins aye Ms Robertson hi motion [Music] first next action and Personnel the classic certified resignation of teachers Aid Victoria I'll make a motion recommendations and members of the board um I recommend the approval of the resignation of Victoria travel I'll second it occurs which is I'm Mr Hopkins aye Ms Robertson aye Ms Duncan Wilson next item Personnel certified and classified employment for fall intercession Mr President members of the board um the following teachers and parapro professionals that have expressed an interest in teaching during the October 17th 20th uh fall intercession teachers will work five hours per day for four days at 25 dollars per hour Mr you want me to say the names teachers Mr

delara Ms De La Roma Mr Bria Israel Fernandez Miss Genie balgaris Cornell Mr Anthony delara Mr Richard rigado the teacher's age will work four hours per day at the hourly rate of pay Rafaela Duran is recommended that the teachers and AIDS names above be approved for the 2022 I'll make that motion all second Mr Hopkins aye Mr Curtis Mrs I miss Duncan aye Ms Robertson hi motion passes for dessert [Applause] next item is business approval of payment schedule for the certified stipend Mr President and members of the board um the pandemic the district decided to set up a percentage increase to be two thousand dollars stipend payout to all certified teachers would be easier to maintain to meet audit needs the better a payment must be approved by the board payment will be November 2022

an April 2023 of 1000 for each of these two payments recommendation is the approval of the payment of a two thousand dollar stipend for certified staff one thousand dollars in November 2022 1000 in April 2023 fund will be paid only to teachers employed I'll make the motion to approve so there was some discussion last time about whether this was coming from 301 Monies or another 301 it's just reality yeah okay so that was an oversight on my part it's on me thank you okay Mr curse which is I miss Duncan aye Mr Hopkins aye Ms Robertson aye motion passes four to zero purple business is the approval of prop 301 payout to 21-22 certified teachers Mr President member of the board um Dr chabotson the leadership team has compiled results of the 21-22 route 301

plan for each teacher employed that year payments has been calculated in accordance with the approved Revenue one property in one plan and the details are attached for your review it is recommended that the board approved the entire property one payout of the 2021 2021 2022 Academic Year elements of motion all second and those two approve motion to approve all right all right Mr Hopkins hi Mr Cruz is awesome I'm Miss Duncan aye Ms Robertson hi motion is approved 4-0 see what you're saying see it was worded that way on them okay next item is the certified employment of substitute teacher Brandon Hinton Mr President under the boardroom very excited we have these next two uh we have uh explanation Brandon hinhorn has been interviewed in reference checks computed for the position of substitute teacher for

the 2223 academic school year I recommend the approval of the employment of Brandon hintorn as a substitute teacher oh second Minister Hopkins uh Mr Curtis which is awesome I'm Miss Robertson aye Miss Duncan hi motion passes 4-0 next item is the certified employment of substitute teacher Kathy Morales Mr President members of the board Captain Ross has been interviewed and reference a position of a substitute teacher for the 2223 Academic School year Mrs Morales retired from Office schools in 2005 after 13 years of teaching at Aqua schools I recommend the approval of the employment of Kathy moradis as a substitute teacher I'll make the motion I'll second it Mr kirsner jizza aye Mr Hopkins aye Ms Robertson aye Ms Duncan motion passes 4-0 yeah amazing yes so on to business uh the first item in business

would be the approval of fundraisers for Student Activities Mr President members of the boarding in consultation with the Miss Mercy Adam Cohen high school student council the following fundraisers are being submitted for yearly approval for a usfr Car Wash dances homecoming and prom food dinner sales spaghetti hot dog Etc game concession stand Fall Festival talent show holiday store smoothie hot cocoa sale holiday treats Valentines roses flowers Crush Candy December candy grams cards Etc Thanksgiving cards caddy Etc it is recommended that the board approved the above list of fundraisers for the 22-23 school year I'll make a motion for a second I have a question on that yes ma'am on car wash how about insurance is that would that be Mike Holt's responsibility because he agreed to have them have a car wash there or are

we responsible even though they're out of school Mr President Ms Duncan um that's a very good question it also was part of my colleagues as far as uh in this uh Smith in this island Scola as far as with insurance purposes we hope that never be used but it could be someone rents our facility we normally request us to take care of insurance some districts it's too many they're very inexpensive um like if you went to a church and so this person could ask us for one if they did good okay flight cars are so I'm banging on the hood if they back up all right so voting for approval Mr Hopkins all right Mr chairs which is aye Miss Duncan hi Ms Robertson hi motion is approved the next item of business is the

approval of the fiscal year 2022 annual Financial recruit Mr President members of the board of the administration is requesting approval of this year 2022 annual financial report this is a culmination of all Financial s I recommend the approval of the history of 2022 annual financial report and Miss Smith to see our business management there was one follow-up I know that I had to change it was not pulling the covet and I I did fix that and um I had to reprint the whole document because of time stamps and when you upload it in the auditor generals and here they look for that so the whole new one is printed out but we didn't take the paper to reissue it all it only changes page five which had the if you wanted to pull that up

it's the page after that this one is the one that was wrong anymore no this is the wrong page this is good yeah it's this line right here where it says Federal progress on the top and covet funds had a line and I noticed last year very far I had a mistake on it too it wasn't pulling it so because I presented it to you I realized what happened so I I could figure out what we needed to do and so we actually spent um or it's on the the new one that that Mr Hopkins has yeah interesting and so it doesn't mean any of this information I know it says page five but it um actually is like a different page inside because we don't remember in finance one through five because anybody it's

five of nine um that covet line and so it had not pulled our beginning balance um I mean it wasn't part of person but one thing um this is one of the rare kind you can use federal monies and it's not technology to plan things now the last one had a little bit of that in it but the first two covet uh Ester funds did not um restrict the money any other Federal grant if you start in ml you must stay in them but the extra monies we were allowed to pay MMO expenses which is when we do our carry forward this is money that we would have spent in mno that we don't have but it's coming back the next year so that may sound a little confusing but this really allowed us to

be for eign there was unless it rolled into page nine which is autofilled and so yeah yes [Music] um I'll go ahead and make the motion to approve I will second it okay Mr kerznerch is aye Mr Hopkins aye Ms Robertson aye Miss Duncan aye uh that's how your business is the approval of the sole source vendor for stem pilot Mr President members of the board at the Yahoo Unified School District Attorney has a CTE air transportation program that needs an additional flight simulator the funds are provided to ahu Unified School District by Jay tech for this program currently there is only one Simulator for an entire class to take turns on this will enhance the Hands-On learning that is crucial for success at this time stem pilot is the only vendor that offers an

appropriate Simulator for the CTE air transportation classroom governing board must include all Source sold Source procurements before any purchases are made r-7-2-1053 of the AAC provides quote that in contract may be awarded for service without competition if the governing board determines in writing that there is only one source for the required service um I recommend the approval of the stem pipe as a sole source vendor there is a memorandum on the next page from the sniff the business manager a little more in depth description of what what I just went through and so uh it looks it's very positive uh once again Mr Gigi researched the best possible option the only option so we did he deserves his credit he did a great job conducting the research and um so that's for you if there's

any questions administrative code for that statute is located and the governing board's determination shall be made using the information on the memorandum which is the district procurement the reason why there is only one single Source available or no alternative which is what this is the name is proposed supplier which is stem pilot the duration and estimated dollar amount on the memorandum I said it's for this fiscal year and I estimate it will be approximately fifteen thousand dollars uh and um the documentary that it's very reasonable it is because the instructor needs we may determine if there was any available I searched all the Cooperative purchasing organizations in the state on the commotion to approve okay one second Mr Hopkins aye Ms Duncan aye Ms Robertson aye and Mr first which is I who approved 4-0

it's a it's a very nice exciting they had pictures of it yes yeah I want to yeah yeah you know what Mr President Mrs Duncan um you should I encourage you all to go I went in yesterday he invited me and two of his students guided me in the takeoff Camp um how to make a left how to go right make sure I don't run into the stadium I mean you want to go left but you're going left with your left heel your left foot I didn't know that the two students behind me they were guided me and I'm not designing successful but let him crash yeah buddies they love it oh my goodness just to do it and I hadn't done it before and I'm thinking we have to invite all of you to

go and check it out but then we'll be in there every day so a second simulator it's not quite Top Gun in Maverick but yeah it's pretty cool nice it's a great investment District it gives them Hands-On that they need desperately sure so anyway that's changing okay so I made the motion uh next one is the approval of governing board policies second reading uh Mr President members of the board the Arizona school boards Association has proposed proposed adding and changing the dashboard policies jlcb immunization of students tlcd-r immunizations or students KDVR Public's right to know Freedom of Information I recommend the acceptance of the Apache policies upon the second reading um we can what I can say this is as what we did in September that the second reading will just include what was reviewed

in the study session I do want to highlights study session Monday for the kdbr Publix right to know Freedom of Information um we checked some of the local other local uh districts similar demographic rule you know toe Tech and Gila Bend as far as the fees and so the fees that they both have is uh 10 cents per copy for materials indicated as board minutes again this financial records contracts of course the study statistical summaries and 35 cents per copy for materials listed above so we put that in there going off of what districts close by is to show that we're being consistent with what other districts are told yeah that's for your information and the second reading with this I'll just state that it's similar to uh the same information that was read on

Monday during the space no problem I'm gonna make emotional food Robertson aye Mr Hopkins Miss Duncan aye unfortunately is it approved uh next item is the approval of online governing boards survey self-evaluation Mr President members of the board we have are you um attached as an overview of what the board self-evaluation covers it aligns to the main characteristics of effective board can stand on Five Pillars of board service each pillar has corresponding benchmarks and sub-measures that Outboards drill down on their needs here's the rundown give Miss Whaley a start and end date for the survey she will send out the link and remind us until all have completed it the survey goes out to our board members and the superintendent it's online Anonymous it takes less than 10 minutes to complete Miss Whaley will run

your report and send it to you it takes approximately 48 hours to get the report after everyone has completed the survey all of this is included in your asba membership so the survey and detailed report are free if you would like ASB to facilitate a discussion around the findings and help the board come to consensus of some goals asba can do that for your regular fee ASB has done this in person and remote and um super dance recommendation this is a board decision I like to say that um this is a opportunity for us I think it's free we've already paid for it yeah there's no added costs oh yeah um I'll make a motion for approval now there we go thank you for that Rodney and it's something that the board chooses and particularly

after after the experience it will know how worthwhile it is we have not done it before but it's something that supports do you do annually um and I think it's a good opportunity for us as a board to do it now in a couple months we could have three new board members up here that don't have the experience to answer the questions as comprehensively as we would be able to Angelina computers again I'll have you it's not easy to come to the Learning Center you're a Full Service Learning Center yeah so we have the motion in the second I'll go ahead and I Mr Hopkins aye Ms Robertson aye Ms Duncan aye aye is approved four to zero foreign agenda item to add agenda items does anybody have an agenda item to add yes ma'am

wow next month towards the middle word with the superintendent evaluation tool for that or the mechanism for evaluating um so I would like to request that next month uh prior to that so for the November meeting we have a have a jerk for this coming evaluation particularly yeah we have a new superintendent um and so it's not likely to be as comprehensive as an adult we would have it Monday to discuss the tool make any changes and then Wednesday would be a vote to approve it so that it can be visibly passed out to the board within a couple of days after that sure okay anybody else nope okay and we're on to may I have a motion to adjourn I got it Mr Curtis just I missed nugget hi Mr Hopkins aye Ms Robinson

hi I'm meeting adjourned at 7 14 6 14. sorry use the digital advertised as a binary
