001um of the united which it states one nation under god indivisible with liberty and justice for all next on the end of this is it is please note that members of the board may not discuss items that are not specifically identified therefore action taken is nothing to directing the administration to look into the data responding to any criticism or scheduling further consideration robertson 546 blood population tonight i want to talk about money the board the superintendent they hired to be responsible for in april 2020 and again in march of this year my wife and i donated 400 to the district each week donation for earmarked school equality alliance plus this is clearly indicated on our cancel checks and on the receipts the formation of the equality alliance club was approved by this board was a
002couple of years ago and then the school that no longer staffed the council the equality alliance for our committed support to our lgbtq kids and their classmates the club is currently fundraising for activities of planning when i learned the current balance in the account of just over 200 i know the leaders of this group said that emily sanders and the colony fellows whether they've never received whoever spent the 800 i've donated over the past 14 months i was assured they haven't seen that money or set up diamonds we had a burrito sale my car wash to raise money in march of just before kobe said the student club never turned in that money they raised to the district is that money that added their balance i'm here wondering where my agent developed i'm wondering how
003many of our parents community members donated money to this school here worked for a specific program and whether their donation never benefited the extracurricular programs they intended want to remember the donation i made in 2019 earmarked republicans never made it to them i'm requesting that this board ensure the administration back to me by the end of the week friday night try to make working with an explanation and with any misdirected funds restoration to your family correctly i'm not talking about my donations i'd like to know how much total money has been donated it the equality alliance group since it was approved by this board and i'd like to see all of that money restored to those accounts i encourage other parents and community members to donate money to arizona's tax credit contribution program to make
004the same inquiry thank you thank you all right our next iso [Music] i'm talking very bad news on friday at work by not only my doctors but my bosses and my family over the weekend stress is high so ask yourself how you would feel at mr edwin along with dr julie yet again most recently at 1 15 on friday on august 7th um 2021 moments before my sixth period class as documented in a video i recorded during the event they used them they came into my room while i was on my lunch break waited for my return to tell me they are recommending me for non-renewal or at the next board meeting is this proper board process were you sent there by the board did you report sanctions would be in my room my classroom
005door was left open as students were changing classes in the recording you can hear are you having trouble reading and talking calmly they did send me an email in the morning that i did not get nor respond to did not know they were going to be waiting for me in my classroom this is the fourth time that they have done this to me and i have agreements with this board which i have not received any kind of response to since didn't work are you obviously extremely upset and i i can't even read the rest of this i would i'm asking for the board to please pay attention to what you're doing and everybody's helping thank you thank you the next auto business is informational items and dr dooley can you explain some of these i
006sure will um i think they're pretty cool [Music] is a certified is for alaska deez and rayleigh for me host and married her legal name is still eliminated last year you will recall several teachers who are on the fifth year of their j-1 visa it's originally three years and they presented two more because of code um transporting from here to the native country for about instead of six years about a month ago we talked to the agency it did any chance for seventh year nobody i think so we got a call he was on monday and at the end of the seventh year so um these people rehired the second personnel item um is for summer school employment um summer school for elementary will be in june this is middle school excuse me june 7th
007the 10th and june 14th the 17th 8 30 to 1 30. we originally had summersville for four weeks for five hours four hours a day was a teacher i'm sorry for students by the paper teachers had some challenges and finding teachers that wanted to work that much of their summer so we lent them today and shortened the week so the teachers that we're recommending for math is that find themselves [Music] another study online is olivia garcia english language arts chelly aaron khan that's currently she teaches uh ell study at all casey babu and special education therapy beltrami uh so we're asking the [Music] because reducing this position does not help this is a cte position that may take one period away when you talk to teacher it's uh mr garcia garcia she's not here today
008um the money button does not help family um [Music] the working conditions talk about if a person submits a reservation retirement by april 15th of the previous year they get a five percent increase in salary for the final year ronaldo [Music] um three changes in food services um [Music] um [Music] is [Music] april 21st um under personnel will be a classified reassignment to fill the position vacated by mr ogden that person will recommend is alejandro ortegan his assistant [Music] and has asked alejandra and robert asked her she wanted to come back initially she said nothing because she likes working with the kids but we have to have the cafeteria going at full speed we have to have not here so available may be a temporary uh um the tenth thing on the personnel long personality
009this month is approval for professional training uh mrs beltran has done this before i don't think she did last year where she working most of our peripherals work with students with special needs and she wants them to be a ferpa depending on the feminist process uh she wants to be aware of the ramifications of an iep he wants to be aware of how much a child needs to have freedom of removal that someone rides your shoulder so it's um they'll be paid their uh hourly weight 12 15 an hour should get 25 hours a day it's the i believe this is not statistically researched but i believe i saw people perhaps saw that their work was important they also understood their work a little bit better and so i'm um and i've done this a
010little differently this time just in a very different year normally i would show or i would include the differences between revision but i want to show a whole picture of this year and the effect for the first thing the revenue control limit and that is a combination of two things is the current year avm average data membership times the base support level of the personal amount and plus our transportation bonus we've got to decide this year normally transportation miles are funded during the prior year we have to decide if we wanted to use the prior year might be 1920 which was 21. well he wanted to use 1893 where we hadn't had um we hadn't missed the last quarter of the year whichever one was in the best of the district um it it doesn't
011unless you're not having a school course and then it changes twenty-five percent so what i wanted you to see though is for example on the adopted budget we'd already thought that we're going to lose a few students because that has been our history for the last like last year if the revenue controller was originally three million two hundred fifty six thousand four hundred seventy seven dollars we're down 87 students out of approximately 400 so we're down almost 25 percent of our enrollment so that the revenue control another two million seven hundred and fifteen thousand eight fifty three does a decrease of five hundred forty 624 it would have been more other than we got an increase to the base support level or the per student amount was true so that mitigated a small amount the
012next item adjustment due to district distance learning we know that up until the end of march we were doing distance level but we have just important only for the first time and that really is your student data that we're funded on so we lost five percent of our atm because they're only going to fund those students for that aggregated membership at 95 percent so that's a decrease to our budget of 130 296. fiscally your 1920 carryover into the current year it actually increases by 9 696. what that means is the fiscal year 1920 expenditures for less than [Music] and we'll adopt in july so we're going to start building the budget as soon as the forms are written on the data that we think is going to again current year enrollment that's what we're going
013to be funded on so we're going to start guessing how much money we want for next year so if we go through the year progressivity uh prop 123 is just the 50 million add-on funding it was about three years ago the governor um there were additional monies pulled from the state land trump's 20 50 million a year is our pro brought up share and so as it's allocated over the adm statewide that number it's common that it will change several times during the course of the year so we did we lost another 29 so mno decreased today 580 250 people district additional assistance between our fund 610 is our own funding source for things such as computer technology software textbooks those about furniture and equipment the only fundamentals uh our 2021 allocation now this is
014funded on prior year 8pm it will not fluctuate as much so parts of the formula are current here part of the formula of quality so it was originally 240 266. it's uh increased to 240 000 each 16. we got 550 you know every dollar count fiscal year 1920 carryover into the current year uh originally it looks like we would have 759 we ended up with hundred and sixteen thousand nine twenty eight so it's gone up seven thousand two hundred sixty nine dollars and then on fund six ten interest earned it increases your budget that's not true for eminem but for fund six originally i thought it was going to be 3 800. and if he got 6 850 feet so our budget increased another 3052 so totally 610 increased thousand eight hundred seventy million dollars
015so net net net our budget is down 569 381 as of the most current data available for this year now on avm data we upload data every 20 days which requires the department event and casey and his staff over there if you will thank you great job for us this department event also has an old computer system and while they need like 30 million dollars to totally redo it the state keeps giving them funding for just a chunk a chunk of something now the three billion dollar a year is this one we think the priority would be a state-of-the-art computer system okay that's not good so data keeps changing even once it's upgraded and then there's also an integrity process for the data so if kc has data or he's uploaded them and there's an
016integrity error with some let's say special ed student's record that can slow down the data so it's not finally yet it's finalized but the data the actual budget forms it's just really basically a summary of our clients if you go let's just go through a couple of pages let's go to page one of eight at the bottom bottom right hand corner this is basically just a snapshot by program and function of uh maintenance and operation our day-to-day expenditures salaries and benefits while at the plan how we're going to spend our money really all that matters is this next page page two of eight is just some additional uh data that has to be included in these widgets including the amount in our mno that we're using the specialist we have to maintain a local use
017our plants it also has our non-federal audit expenses those types of things page 3 of 8 is just an overall budget for our prop 301 at least through fiscal year 2021 we have three different films they can be combined starting next year i suggest that we still keep them separate and just roll them up to one because it allows you to keep track of how you want to use it and then there will be some additional uses next year but basically we have an allocation we have carryover monies and then we have an allocation for the current year so that's the budget for those funds page four of eight is our unrestricted capital budget plan at this point that budget is at 164 597. we were fortunate at our enrollment stabilization grant through the governor's
018office while it certainly didn't fund enough money to keep us at a loss of only two percent of our enrollment most of the computers and the technology that we've purchased for this year we're lucky that we could put it in that grant that's been decided so it didn't deplete fund 16. we still have those monies carrying forward that facility is for our kids and other needs and then there is some additional detail on page 508 i have never ever ever had anybody reviews any of this for anything or has it shown up in any kind of a record anywhere page six of eight is our federal project for federal grants of state grants again just an overall budget amount of what we expect our expenditures to use at this point because the year is not
019complete i use pretty much total revenue available to us by type of greens we could use i expect us to use all of the money because we'll be doing more stuff and then you also have just miscellaneous funds that are that are in the district uh school plant food service those kinds of things tax credit extracurricular activities and donations or jewelry operations and then just the calculation of the budget limits can i answer any questions yeah thank you they have not been released to date answer three will be allocated very similar to one and after two is that it's news using or allocated to schools and charter schools so the beginning date is going to be march 1st 2020. [Music] other questions i always have the fascinating [Music] is are you ready for the next
020topic your business is [Music] basically we talked about for teachers to retire from oahu and receive benefits if they were here four years policy asked for 10 years and this had been on a meeting for years for a long time so we've changed the policy we've sent the policy back past our attorney it probably will not be copyrighted by the board by asda but we have a list of the payment and how many days they have left that one 49 days ago if they leave they retire for example the secretary of health is a certified person and she's been here four years which i believe she has she did she had two days left she get 49 dollars a day she had 100 years ago the best possible insurance you have keeping yourself wait so
021we're on gc week right correct um so this is been submitted to asba yes yes yes they reviewed it and they told me that they weren't going to put their copyright on it um because every school district is so different that there's not a congruent policy for them to look at write on it so he said the person i talked to the head of policy services he said normally this policy because it's so different for each school it's hard to find one that is copyrighted so he asked me to talk to our lawyer and then our lawyer said yes with a couple of changes and those changes are recovered so after you board approval then i'll resubmit it to aspa and it'll be in our policy okay so this what's assuming this is what's been
022submitted this is much different than what the board asked for and then there's an email that says from the lawyer were these changes proposed by asba or the district and the responses are worked by the board but it wasn't this is very different than what we're talking about we felt that this was aligning the policy it does in some ways in other ways it reduces the stats and benefits considerably you know not the way because i think this requires what we discussed was a really simple reaction of the sickly pain apart not inserting anything and not removing the retirement incentive program it was simply it was right it was simply removing the leading payment because that was addressed and we played agreement what has been done is much more extensive and really i mean we
023all need to look at it and i think even talk to the teachers to see what they think about it because it changes benefits conservatives says [Music] so these percentages on the sick leave our highness and then your classified it was your minimum wage divided by the day eight hours but and then happy with that then a sounds like a significant [Music] much [Music] there were two items in them you know nation's uh agreements that were discussed this was one of them the second policy we only need to have one technical this week last year or a school last year that didn't allow native american students to wear any tribal regalia or had any acceptable tribal comments on the workforce and legislation has passed out to 202705 to disallow schools from believing that we've had
024the last couple of years a tribal chairman of the vice chairman who gave the students like a medal or a necklace foreign which makes sense because we allow honorable students and national heart size students to wear something to advertise that they have success so it says objects of course apparently that was the conflict last year [Music] okay health insurance um as we started moving into 2021 and it became apparent that we were trying to buy cleaning supplies we were trying to buy computers a lot of them tablets hot spots it was like black oil you try to deal with the vendor and you thought you were going to get 200 of something or 50 cases of something by the time you issued your pinot somebody else involved prices were going up from days and days
025a day so what the executive order allowed is that it allowed us to set aside all the procurement requirements if for the needed items if our governing board and so what i've uh prepared for you is as a result the request approved the following procurement remembered for the current year fiscal year 2021 and they intended for everything to come to you like right after we made their purchases we also had items that we had pos for that we still haven't received because it was taking like three or four months to get items we had other items come in tablets that eric researched and was gonna buy a refurbished which would be fine because they had a new just a warranty of new ones and we couldn't locate that one because we needed a number of
026200 so computer equipment and related i.t items during the months of april may and continuing this into the summer and fall of 2021 for that 2020. it became difficult to find student computers congrats laptops etc and other i.t equipment including hot spots and wi-fi service for student homes that were ready that was readily available especially in large numbers these items were needed for distance learning which would start in august or 2020. there was an immediate need for the items which also require issuing purchase orders quickly so the stock available can be returned for our district and our students to meet these needs we request approval for the following vendors and the amount extended to date there are still some heroes with encumbrances staples technology solutions we spent almost 80 000 kg incorporated was 14 858
027that was for wi-fi service monthly service for student homes and then we've purchased these items to enhance student safety and near the pandemics [Music] we either needed written quotes at the time or we needed with media board people special services contracted videos during the spring of 2020 an return to unknown school at that time it was decided that it was probably best to stay with vendors that were new and have a history of being reliable and that you are students accordingly we request that you approve the following are you therapy company 35 550 and education support services are contracted science focuses today you almost spent 8 000 foreign executive order 2020-31 recommends presenting the vendor to the governing board as soon as possible however during the course of the year it became necessary to cancel
028pos and reissue the different vendors return items which were effective and separate so i waited until we were assuring the vendor that had been used for the 19 it was something trying to get everything and just the numbers that we needed and the change like david is who never means and now money is going to come back to us or we actually those items almost all of those i could most of it went into the um enrollment stabilization program fundraise 28. i can put it in there and then on 326 which was one i could put um some teach and re-teach that we had in the spring of 2020. they're not arguing for you but i could put some other things for example jobs that i said okay this is going to save the position
029based upon the loss of our students and the loss of uh okay the next item i think um a year ago we uh requested approval of soul source procurement for health insurance because we're not with a recognized cooperative we actually contract directly on our own and at that time we talked about uh in fiscal year 2021 we would set up a insurance committee we would have uh representations participate so that we can look at possibly different choices well 2020 came and we had no school we had social differences we've been working from home all of those things so it's time to approve our insurance with this week of 21 22 which is next year what i requested of our broker our insurance broker is that she get us pricing without so um we actually got
030currently offers insurance to qualify employee positions as possible between 250 000 per year we have health insurance with repositories we have digital insurance to indiana vision insurance to cuban um actually the pricing that came back to us from next year is blue cross blue shield um once it went back and forth between the broker and the company they increased rates by two percent dental insurance humana is up three point zero one percent envision there is no change so the district portion is the health insurance process no it's actually if you go back in here in all your details it's actually there's an out-of-pocket deductible and then it depends on if you're in network or not it's actually pretty most of it's better than you told me depending on i really don't i don't have the
031insurance um but it's a it's it's a nice plan and then if you're healthy and then it's where you get sick but it's all the exact same for example if you have emergency room when it's a copay after eighty percent but then there's still an out-of-pocket maximum and then you just stay straightforward what employees are there we offer a base plan that the district pays 100 and that the employee chooses to fight out for a different plan i think it's a little bit different the employees will pay the difference and so that just covers the employee themselves yes um this plan is the cost is much less than for example as dave um insurance trust most of their plans are up to about eight thousand percent this year this is about this is health insurance
032is personal they know their doctor they know how it works most of them it's not that they don't necessarily love what they have but they don't have to learn anything new but they know how to navigate just for the most of us if you think might your your eyes will on the top budget it gets worse with health clinic doesn't take certain insurance you know this year obviously we use that insurance because he creates a policy employees today one employee years ago about some insurance it's been my experience over the years [Music] in their families most of them don't way no way they're gonna pay you know five hundred thousand dollars you know or more and that and that has happened to teachers over the years here and so um i don't have an answer
033for that there's not a good answer that the cost of insurance is hard enough to pay for just the employees much less after they can get on what arizona is because [Music] you it doesn't make sense unless of course you want to get into things like um an hsa then you need staff to explain that kind of almost limited thank you but certainly the organizations report card of how we handle our finances and how we do business on day-to-day stuff this is actually a copy of all these pages i'm um before i start let me explain one thing for example account payable the auditors pick okay invoice to test on that one page then visit that one transaction there's probably 10 or 11 different steps you have to find starting with a requisition was created
034it was approved it was implemented somebody approved the po the purchase wasn't made before the po was created the account code is correct that we receive the doc the gift before the page all these different things through the stage of that purchase if there's ten different steps that are looked at with one and one they're all them it's an exception so if we've issued 1500 pos for each one of those transactions you've got all these steps and that's just purchasing that so that's why you hear people like venus and i think the auditors you know several years ago we got asked a lot of questions about paying for something buying something before the appeal it's like asking parents to use the class and the purchase rackets you kind of use the car and then purchase
035orders you put the gas in the car so you got the information for the gas somewhere so we really people don't do that if they're in phoenix and they see something in a store that tends to be fantastic for the class and we agree that they haven't been a po first and we thank them for making that gift but we how we do our job every day but it's not just because these officers do but actually we don't want to reprocess other people um certainly then we have responsibility of the checks and balances but also this is filed with the auditor general to make sure that you know they're in compliance that it's considered to be important um when we came when i came and it's never just one person it takes a village i
036have all of the reports going back to fiscal year 2012 13 when the business manager at that time passed away unexpectedly uh for that year there were 12 findings in the usf the next year there were 14 fundings 15 22. i was actually here for that i actually moved to the management audit i came in i was on site i asked the ladies in the business office to be here to make this their priority so that we actually look at the auditor so facebook questions [Music] what's getting to be really interesting is there's things that have been occurring for a long time that we've not gotten good enough now we'll get written and venus said what is this i said because as we get cleaner it gets pissed actually so what i want to do
037is just go over the items from this year and then i have a corrective action plan and this is from the 1920 audit uh governing board management procedures the last couple of years there's been a ton of discussion about conflict of interest training guidance we also have policies regarding that um we did not implement it until this year so in 1920 it was not done even though our policy was adopted in june somehow it did not get added to liquid back to breakfast uh the trade and animal training then for those employees after the annual training that come in late uh venus in the business office will make sure that she can't move up individually or drive and angelina was scheduled but there is a plan on how to catch up with lightweight hybrids caption
038and revenue uh auxiliary operations deposit status efficiency uh this one's tough because people need well and when you have cash there's a lot of rules um when people are going to go buy something there's a whole process and it's kids money so there's more rules and then accountability is everything i'm also a big believer that if somebody did have approval to go buy something they go shopping and they don't come back with that receipt like the next day or like a day or two that we see tends to get lost that we see go to the laundry etcetera etcetera the more time that goes by that we don't get it so this is cash is still an ongoing problem well we don't give them cash but it gets often cash because it's raised because of
039what the kids feel like athletic sales athletic cells get flowers car washes so it's considered kids money but a lot of times when it's raised it's going to raise cash and then i'll bring it in to put deposit what happens with cash is one for you one for me one for you one so there's more rules about it and then it's considered kids money so now if somebody is for example the junior class president the teacher leading the process they will tell you oh for heaven's sakes there's so many troops to jump through but the rules are basically created by the legislature to safeguard along with the auditor general the stakeholder the process and the money and if you approach it correctly it's like learning you want to do an activity we're working together with
040a group we vote we agreed to it then we have these activities to fund things it's kind of like having a little school maybe you're going to sell candy okay i bought 400 candy bars i've only sold 300 of them so where's my other 100 candy bars here's my money for myself and my 300. so it's almost like having a little school there's some good teaching and learning there but it can be frustrating when you want to move quickly that is still good teaching and learning so we still have problems getting adequate documentation in a timely manner from our sponsors many of them are volunteers with the district finding the 1920 may have been minor via the closure of school in the last quarter that's normally when a lot of our activities happen so there
041were minor findings we probably will have virtually nothing between participants out of school so just because we don't have any findings in 2021 doesn't mean that our the problems are vulnerable because there hasn't been much extension this is an area that we still need to we need to improve upon procurement two of three purchases required written quotes random cost is 10 over 10 000 or less than 100. the quotes were not obtained these were both special services vendors which the department and dr dooley thought that there had already been written price quotes gotten and that was not the case you're going to be asked to also approve those vendors wednesday night but i've asked the department to go out and consider having price closures for not there may be a available more vendors that would
042be willing to come here and help us some of our visitors are getting a little older so they may also be getting ready to retire so i'd like them the second item is for six of seven cooperative purchases when we do use the cooperatives we still have to deal with the policy diligence the legislature requires us to go and look at the whole process for the bid and make sure all [Music] based upon these criteria this is one of the different things this is the fit that you should use it's all throughout this year look at all the other work i didn't do that he even asked me are you sure so he gave me a chance to go uh financial reporting and this was something this is one that's good because it's happened but
043he didn't do it but we haven't done it there is student activities and auxiliary operation bank accounts right those revenues and deposits have to be given to the afl they've not been included she would have given it to me because she gave it to my predecessor but now we're getting written up so that's good it will be included on the 19th or the 2021 africans information technology we are required to do an annual i.t security awareness training and it is not done or documented uh eric will he was going to shoot something out to folks with emails and stuff this year i said to us we'll incorporate it into the welcome back just for next year and again the late hires will incorporate it into other trainings that we all and then there was a
044transportation finding on the 100-day mileage report but that was included in error we did have to back up on the documentation as it was going back and forth the first portion of the product we did here on site and other than i think about the birth of october then the follow-up after the holidays we did this remote going back and forth so they simply keep the social distancing and school still wasn't in person etc [Music] and the last thing is the um early march 31st we have we surveyed 28 teachers and uh 20 classified employees and three people in our first we had 51 surveys we used a likert scale one to five we've done several surveys this year they've been shortened to the point we're trying to give mr edward some information stuff like
045that but this is more of a general survey about school kids on surveys if you see them yourself on online a survey that gets to be over some people there with 10 questions people start getting glassy [Music] disagree together maybe the first of the question is supported and inviting my students to learn now the staff are doing that with about probably a third of our staff had children in school and so um they're not just talking about someone else's children like my daughter so we have between the highly agree and uh agree that's 82 percent of our staff thinks that the school's doing a good job zero disagreed highly the second item i feel safe working in the office schools i have a couple teachers here that work in larger cities and i i'm one
046of those long time ago and i think our teaching very safe here of very high disagreement um my number three staff promotes education of success for all students you know your administrator you promote things but you don't know how it goes sometimes unless you're working at some point [Music] now if you're adding up percentage it's never going to come to a hundred because i rounded unless i got you like 45.99 i didn't mean 45.5 goes up and so and so plus not every question was answered by everybody so it doesn't doesn't balance out uh the fourth thing fourth uh question administrative respect administration we've got students and i'm not about to i don't people some people disagree with this i'm not to say i'm not going to say bob really respect students or leonard uh
047edmond respect students i said administration so it's down to the two of us and halfway in uh yeah and so yeah no disagrees percent highly agreed i'm sorry yeah i think we're looking i'm talking about one but or uh agreed we'd like to see that i i would like to see that um bullying is a big problem to school but what i want this is higher numbers i'm going to disagree i like to disagree we had four percent of people think four percent of the staff business think that going is a problem 25 percent agreed on the problem i highly agree with my question the one thing about this question that we forgot to believe the one thing about this question that we didn't emphasize is this survey was taken two days after students started
048back in school so i think we did it up on wednesday on wednesday um staff development day our professional development yeah so 41 i don't think bullying is a problem the thing is about bullying it many different things different people and also a different parish child some children are very sensitive or some some children um they think bullying is physical i the idea of wanting to change i personally think words last longer than physical action but that's where the staff was the seventh item which engine is plentiful right now administration is non-knowledgeable and instructional practices uh 72 percent agreed with one fashion uh seven percent disagree if i could not have gained disagree number eight status six permanently my major decisions um 56 that's the last thing so far um i think sometimes people get
049so busy they get bogged down administration 64 degree in the infection um and that's 59 is an error i think it was nine percent interesting it's number 10 staff have access to materials and privileges it's ironic the industry's not talking about the money we spent in 96 i'm sorry part of that might be i don't notice for a fact folks but part of that might be uh we don't put things in classrooms unless people tell us they're out unless people request it so someone may not receive something about them [Music] board members understand the daily operations school by policy no uh the board's job is to um approve or disapprove uh hiring and fines and employees and hire the superintendent and employ in arizona boards who do all the personnel uh uh voting uh hiring
050and termination or rift or the basement debate but um the world's job is based on the policy in terms of administering administration provides information to staff regarding operations uh 70 percent and we're highly degree we get busy and we have a lot of expectations for the statute all state and usfr and sometimes we will explain that um sometimes we're going to kind of explain that sometimes staff in my opinion doesn't make one of those kind of challenges on that one administration communicates uh well with staff we got heard of this only about is a big believer in being extremely visible on campus this last five quarters have been extremely unique but before that happened i was trying to be out about at least four minutes four months a week and i'm amazed in 10 minutes
051or 15 minutes how many small problems are big questions that get answered from kids from staff from parents because if you're visible you see things they can talk to you and it doesn't mean you have to have a formal sit down in your office and it's less threatening number four [Music] this is one we thought it turned out exactly like uh the one above and mix up one percent um both of those we think we thought we'd done a good job early on we had some community or some town hall meetings initially there was quite a few people involved in those that marvin did any form of communication with fewer people um involved now one or two things happened we've heard them silly or they didn't have questions they had to be a big questions
052answered number 15 uh that's another question the word works well the team the administration uh no one highly agreed uh 37 agreed uh i'm going to disagree that would be 28 and the last question is in administration value staff ideas and input uh we didn't do as well there i was i'd like to see 54 percent in the agreed category they're only 20 to disagree with categories so it's almost like the questions i received i used i someone came to the u.s department of education some of them came from other superintendents some came from professional associations and i like that essentially asked me if i showed you a pie graph he said i'm sure if you see that you can throw it around is it possible any questions and i had them out where they
053signed in and signed out and then before they left they just dropped it in a box so and there's our names on them so they just were just right random and dropping the box anonymous one of the things i actually want to talk to you about don't let people take it out of your meeting right there because it's not [Music] right so one of the things that's hard to get this is what paul i want to take uh it's hard to get the quality it's not bad and i would if i did that i'd probably have a few more questions here i have my thoughts on maybe the five most crucial questions there um i'm not saying that i'm not saying you wouldn't but uh [Music] like to know what we can do better there
054i think i think that's like one of my bmpr but they don't see any of the one-on-one interaction meetings in my office parent and a student i know that there are narrative answers like that on part of the quantifying word they can provide information that can be beneficial yeah probably 10 to 15 minutes some did it pretty quick but yeah there were some that there were a few that filled it out in you know five minutes but there were some there were a couple that were there that's a couple of those questions to see if there you know i have to take a look um no i a that statisticians are opposed to that once we get semester maybe once a year because they think there's this is more the same thing or it's intense
055important evidence i'm about to put this together i think the questions are decent they're not fantastic i'm not going to give them a phd in these questions and uh i don't know what to do at the beginning of the year do the same like the freedom of those tests that's an idea i don't think for example the question that we have to talk about is if you say okay we're going to do this twice in the 21-25 school year uh come august 9th or even labor day december august or september but also you don't have to do a teacher they haven't been there long enough sort of survey going out just kind of touching days and seeing how the semester is going and seeing if there are anything that the staff would recommend looking at
056for the next semester rather than waiting until [Music] what your thoughts feedback on this to me and it helps with the communication with the five-minute staff that you can focus on results from here but also just create some more open atmospheres um the other part was like there's three or four questions that i thought i thought i was pleased that it's kind of like this sometimes it doesn't happen it certainly shows we are i thought i think in my role you think of schools you've been to like i know two teachers here that have been in a lot of city schools and they see almost anything i saw i still do this the first school i've worked at at i don't think i've met a kid here [Music] um is [Music] what kind of plan
057are we putting together and at the risk of saying like they're making last year i was on a zoo meeting every week it's not as effective education is about relationships and it's hard to have relationships and so that's that um i talked to a lot of parents last spring from their filming camps getting lunches and stuff like that and several parents tell me a kid that liked a new teacher and i had a number of parents telling me that [Music] um those three like he mentioned the two communication questions i think those are goods because the teachers get discouraged um because they try to get parents [Music] um if you're making a positive call for a parent that parents know you're not just looking at the mistakes of child makes these kids make mistakes and
058we don't love our kids and we don't want just to hear about that so that's something that's going to get harder one technical change i want to suggest um question number six is the only one they're higher i think that question needs to be specified significantly more are we talking about students to students what are we taught obviously so that's that question is a lot more than i would say online or facebook was not an issue uh but i think one of the things we could work with especially elementary kids that's not the right thing to do but we talked about building a sense of community among kids we've done a number of ways unfortunately kids tend to get turned off with schooling but not learning thank goodness they're curious when they're kind they don't
059walk till they leave but we sometimes make school competitive and i know i know she's a better auditor than i am i took accounting i loved it so much i didn't take any more but i don't need to have a graph in the classroom to show so and we do that to kids sometimes not meant to be painful but it happens it gets kids getting mad at us if we do that kind of thing kids will accept that they may stop saying inappropriate things on facebook i don't know it's like facebook is still safe being on the left side of the scale [Music] because i think it's almost like we're worried about our 80 kids that we've lost between march 1st 2020 and today um and again it's not a solution but everybody's in the
060same boat it's something with our culture not just for um well i also think that communication takes two and sometimes you can communicate with the other party doesn't want to relate and i think and yet you will get um i hope that um but even if it's just a little bit better than that and then it's still not great it's really important business would you recommend this workplace with your friends um a friend's family well my criteria is a parent i'm a grandparent or black or a kid in this class as a principal i've been from a kidney class think i think those questions um we have not changed the agenda [Music] i'm thank you yes partly but it's better always bigger [Music] i think we made mistakes is [Music] different that's about this is
061vague because i know from all the others i understand that it sounds like um uh oh foreign all right i said that we adjourned that at 7 19. thank you
