thank you visitors are welcome to speak on the gender on non-standard items comments so we'll meet you three minutes please state your name and address prior to making your comments please note that members of the board may not discuss items that are not specifically identified on the agenda therefore action taken is under the directing administration to look into the matter responding to women for racism or scheduling the matter for preaching consideration i mean three people who wish to talk oh yeah to talk about uh my name is julie ann kruser i'm the community member in apple and this last week i could send out a survey to a lot of parents athletes and community members we got 64 responses and the questions that were asked were specifically related to starting sports back up hopeful through

spring sports of the 64 60 said 100 they would want sports to start now only three said no way and one was unsure still i want you just as we took a moment of silence record please take a moment silence for these kids imagine that they were standing right in the middle and i like to imagine that you all are doing the best you can but i can't help but feel that you're letting laws and order of operations given a way of putting something in front which is a place and right now so many women are ready to jump off the bridge because they're struggling with depression and we know how hard it is to lose a community member well these kids are our next generation and i would pray and i have been praying

that you all would be i tried to get you to put this on the agenda for tomorrow some board members have said it's not necessary dr dooley said he will not vote on it himself to push this forward but we need these words to happen and let me tell you why i feel safe because i don't want you to think my love of sports is ahead of keeping the kids safe that's ridiculous i think it's safe to go forward the caa and the aia are following cdc guidelines and they said from zero to 75 cases you're in the green well guess how many cases ah has 17 which is amazing you guys have done a great job of reducing the risk of covering comets never going away as sad as that is but we need

to now say okay let's move forward and safely use sport it's time and so i again i know i'm saying i pray a lot but i do because i feel like these kids really need it and i know you can't vote on it tomorrow but dr dooley i spoke with you yesterday and randy baum i know you say randy said the registration is passed so when i talk to him he said we still can register as a school and i think where there's a will there's a way and if you're willing enough to put these kids ahead of order of operations i believe we can still make it happen he said we could and just like you said about their money from our organization they're going to want to make money so why would they

not be willing to also help our kids get into these spring sports right now thank you thank you a little bit yeah so my name is kara soccer i live at 220 east third and i'm a teacher here at the iowa unified school district um a couple of things that i wanted to address were um one of them being i was one of the staff members to receive the first dose of the modern vaccine on january 31st with that in mind not everyone and my colleagues did some due to personal or medical reasons and i'm not sure if that should be our end-all be-all or decision-making um for one main reason and that's we don't know how the vaccine is going to work as far as being a carrier while the person may not actually

experience the symptoms we don't know whether or not they could still be a carrier of the disease um i believe i speak for most when i say that we want kids back uh we really do but in a way that is safe and that allows us to remain in person once we come back um i'm also a member of a covey committee that is comprised of parents administrators and a few other teachers as well last week we had a meeting on wednesday afternoon and one parent actually asked why are we even discussing this right now why don't we focus on what's going to be coming in the fall why don't we focus on next school here instead of what's happening now the last thing that i want to mention is the idea of bringing back

all students at once the idea has kind of been floating around the community and i think that that would not be possible first of all to while to also follow cdc guidelines of maintaining six feet between desks i have my room set up and the maximum that i can fit is 15 students right now that's all with a class of i believe 20 right now it wouldn't be possible so i don't think that it would be a responsible decision um during this point or at any point in this academic year and as a science teacher because that's what i teach here um i tend to think scientifically about a lot of things and including everyday decisions so every decision i make comes down to facts and numbers so all that i ask is that you

take all data and numbers into consideration instead of personal opinion when this vote has been made thank you all right and the other is jennifer keller good evening my name is jennifer keller i live at 744 west wild city rush lane and i am a middle school teacher here at offo um i am speaking to everyone tonight about whether or not we should go back to school at any time this school year i will not actually insert my own opinion but rather provide a couple of facts before a decision is made i have heard my students and parents discuss that social socialization is important and for themselves or their children that this is like the most important thing to them at this time if or when we do return to campus students will continue to

work on their educated courses and follow cdc's social business and guidelines this basically means that the students will not have group work or time to socialize outside of the six feet guidelines the students may or may not be with their friends within the classroom while working on their laptops so it might be not exactly right [Music] for the entire school this basically means that if one teacher is ill when you spend a day for any reason the you could not do so because the school does not have any coverage teachers would um basically have to ensure that they can never be sick or if they have any doctor definitely just have to put an opportunity so i also encourage everyone to just face some of their decisions on evidence and facts that are presented before

you while everyone is getting kind of annoyed with the way things are we want to avoid any more workouts did you want to say something all right then let's um move on next order of businesses discussion um and i report from the cable county health department i feel like we are a long ways apart because using this facility we have only one screen and um i've asked i talked to mr brian eller mr eller is with pima county health department he's a school of covered liaison occasionally when we have pima county superintendent meetings online mr eller is always present and very knowledgeable i spoke with him via email a few days ago and he indicated he'd be willing he has two schools tonight to talk to as i recall and so i thought perhaps he

could talk to you about what the county's position is or what's happening in the county with the coveted outbreak i know that's something that people have it's in everybody's mind so i write about my boardwalks unfortunately uh brian thank you for being here i'm hidden behind the camera you can't see me which is fine but i have this is not a normal board room but we wanted to be able to uh uh have you talk to her there we go i think i can hear you know sorry the internet was crippled oh great we have four or five board members here so thank you for your time i have a couple of questions uh i don't know whether you want me to start with those questions or you'd like to have me ask us sorry

i'm having a really hard time here sorry let me move over here excuse me brian i'm gonna sneak in here and speak uh brian i have a couple of questions i don't have a speaker here at the board presence table i don't know you want me to ask questions now or after you do your presentation because you may have already answered it what would you prefer [Music] uh brian can you hear me now try the other one sorry about this folks can you hear me now brian no he's having trouble so it's his system i'm looking forward to a life that soon folks okay technical can you hear me through this speaker uh brian yes i can't do this okay um i'm sure some of the board has questions i'm standing here the phone so

you can hear me um has questions and i have a couple of questions would you like us to ask those after your presentation yeah yeah so i have a share that's um a direct quote for the questions that you sent me okay and then i'll expand a little bit further upon each one of those answers and that works for you sure go ahead thank you for doing this i appreciate it yeah i'm honored um okay so i'm going to zoom in on each one of these piece by piece here okay and uh let me go back to the original email and you sent it over so i can make sure that he does take care of the trust so the first question that was posed in regards to vaccinations and health parking stances so the

one thing i can tell you to just kind of start off is uh we are pretentiously awaiting the cdc's guidance on post-second vaccination and what that means specifically as it pertains to quarantine and isolation protocols um the cdc has yet to come up with that guidance for the local health departments so you don't know what it's going to be after the second vaccination or how long um i think we can make a general assumption at this point in time that there are going to be a lot of exemptions for quarantine the thing that we're looking at in terms of the post-spicy data is what that what that depending on how that taxi goes um for the front now i uh we're going just to be on the safe side of things but we're going to

recommend and you'll see this guidance come out from the state because after after a vaccination after a second vaccination for many of your staff that as long as they're not symptomatic they can they can come back from quarantine and it's just exposure as long as they're wearing a house with fidelity and school cannabis that's not official guidance at this point let's just kind of until that cdc guidance comes out we have that green light we're expecting that last four days we should give that one destroy the latest at least that's what i've been told by the state so as soon as we have that we'll be announcing that on the tuesday and thursday sessions which i know dr julian has been attempting to reconvene on behalf of other high school districts so we will make

sure to give that update on people as soon as we can there's uh my understanding that it takes about 14 days to achieve whole immunity on post-second vaccination so uh that so um the cdc currently and again we're waiting for getting guidance on this they currently advise vaccinated persons to continue involving quarantine guidance after our proposed contact um we do think for essential employees in which teachers do fall into that category if they receive the second most devices that that is going to potentially change within the next week or so okay and that that was the guy that was vaccine is taking 10 days to 2 weeks so that's where that 14 day number came from that i said it earlier in terms of advocacy all of these uh all of these questions actually are

addressed on our faq site which i'm going to show you how to work on here in terms of social distancing uh we do still recommend social business we may see some changes on early childhood education when the cdc guidance system is released we just got a report from the brown college of public health which showed that there is a difference between early learners which we would classify between the ages of five without men those children tend to present asymptomatic which means they're less likely to transmit because they're not caught in sneezing i'm projecting the airborne particles of coating uh through that method of the transmission but the growing part is because they're asymptomatic they're less likely to transmit so therefore there could be a recommendation that that social discipline for early learners goes down to

three feet established steps we are going to wait for the final cdc guidance on that i am looking uh and really searching for the research this that and the republic county health department will not make that recommendation until we can find the research that's the state change that is in their claim for older learners uh and right now the county was recommending across the board this is social distancing for all students uh k through 12 at this point in time as well as delivered public spaces in combination with classical difficulty the health department did recently review new updated recommended guidance from the turkish school i think you will all be happy to hear that we are no longer going to be efficient any guidance recommending remote hybrid or traditional face-to-face instruction it will lead back

to you all as school boards to decide what's best for your communities the thing that we absolutely recommend though is strong mitigation and strong mitigation comes down to three main things washing your hands watching people you touch surfaces uh wearing a mask at all times except living in the lunch room or outside at play um and then social distancing and that's going to be involved in an all-time situation as well of course accepting the playground where you're going to have to gain clients as of course you're all six feet but because you're outdoors in an outdoor setting as long as the students are not symptomatic okay the last criteria that's going to be really important um to look at is the recording of the thesis so anytime you have a staff or student at your

school the health department really needs to know about that for a couple of reasons one because one of the metrics that we're tracking is power effects i can talk more about in short we are still recommending uh social efficiency until the cdc tells us that that is no longer needed on the um and prevent transmission alcohol with students who apply who would um would transmit the leads from the classroom science and those three pieces that i've referenced earlier that tells us that we're doing a really good job mitigation continues but and outlook again is when you have two or more ecological interfaces obviously those two students are not siblings they're not playing over the weekend at the park i'm hanging out on transmission that can be traced back to the school site so that's how

we possibly can we've only had 57 so far and uh just this last week it had uh several cases resulting from basketball views uh in and jv and varsity basketball games so just to give you an understanding again of like this this idea like the social distance you've been asking you can so i think those are the more questions that you consent to dr julie um i'm more than willing to take some additional questions i have ability availability until about 6 15 i have to jump on another board being deceiving um and if there's anything that i'm not able to get through tonight any one of you can contact me directly on my cell phone which i'll make sure the customer chat and i can make sure that i invest in those questions thank you

brian um i had a question you touched on this but i wanted to be a little more succinct if possible uh we have had our our staff 80 of our staff has had their first vaccination we're due for a second vaccination march first through the sunita health clinic here in idaho um please clarify um after the second vaccination if i'm exposed do i still quarantine i think the answer is yes and that's from cdc guidance will come from cdc or from pima county health organizations if the cdc is unable to give us that guidance within the next two weeks we will work internally with our connections contacts advocacy and partners in health to make sure that we're going to issue a recommendation that's based on research and on data um well one of the but

the current recommendation is that this example is your staff received that second vaccination if they were in close contact as long as they were wearing a mask and they won't have to do the quarantine um if they were not wearing a mask then we will ask them to continue pointing to a period of 10 days they can get out of that movie and they take a test on day 6 which is a pcr test um i can share a graphic uh i'll just email that to you dr julie that shows on a chart or timeline what that short warranty actually looks like and i can even pull that up right now while we're on this call thank you my last question you may not be uh this may be not a part of your department

i want to talk ask a question about children with children of essential workers and children with special education ieps currently we have to provide services which we're all in favor of doing that if we went with a hybrid program where we had half students every other day type program would we have to continue having those students in school every day for the governor's executive order or would we would it be their needs being met legally if we did a hybrid program for the children of essential workers as well as special education students yes sir that's a that's an excellent question i'm just going to tell you my understanding so this is not this is something you may need to consult with the governor's office on or with your legal department or your legal team if

you have an illegal uh legal advisory council that your district works with my current understanding is that the governor's order which mandates that education uh for those high-risk students from the children of essential workers or whether they're exceptional education students is that the district must provide the services regardless of which but i think that uh if there's some assistance in figuring out how to do that i can definitely look for connections within exceptional education advisory boards and committees and then connect toronto to those services in order to facilitate [Music] methods that are actually going to work for your district thank you very much sort of on the screen um so a couple questions you said that pima health department is no longer recommending the remote hybrid or in-person learning does that mean that the benchmarks

the state benchmarks are going away um my understanding based on the conversation with the state on friday that that is the case that they are also waiting for that cdc guidance um i think the benchmarks are still going to stick around primarily because that's what's being used in order for businesses to navigate uh open angles and measurements from western requirements overall the important thing for them for all of us to build especially with education is that compared to other creative sources of community spread schools are a really safe place for folks in vienna right now um i was on a call with our lead epidemiologist earlier today uh and she reinforced the idea that um when we overall the number of student-to-teacher transmission rates that we've seen across the county have been exceptionally low i

know right now four specific cases where that's happened and yeah that's for too many but again those are situations where mitigation was just not present so those are those are just some things to consider and understanding why this right condition is being made greatest okay thank you um another question i i don't know if you can speak on this um but hopefully you can give us some insight so when we're trying to balance um opening uh the amount of cobit in our community with other factors like mental health issues that might be happening among our students do you have any insight any anywhere we can look for more guidance on that yeah so one of the one of the main reasons why we are going this direction as a health department is specifically because of

the mental health issues that we're seeing manifesting with our children in the community we definitely have um we've pointed out the importance of social and emotional wellness and the roles that the role that schools play really can meet a lot of our kids families so um i think uh as a health department we can we can give you the numbers on what we're seeing in terms of uh suicidality or depression or what calls for uh help on an aggregate level for for age specific populations within a zip code context we can give you the case rates for age related uh hospitalizations positive tests and things within the zip code as well as long as it doesn't break chemical which means that it's over 20 cases in a month period um beyond that i think what

you're seeing with this current statement is that the health department is really turning back to the communities and say you know ultimately you all live in a home individual i come out there if i'm lucky maybe once every four to five months and what we can do is we can supply you with data we have and we can help you make informed decisions but really we want to see you make those decisions for your community because your community are going to listen to to their school boards to the the folks that love the local governments much more than they will come from i hope that answers your question yeah thank you one last question we have the the mandatory reporting of cases um and you said that an outbreak is foreign so what is the

health department's role there will will you tell us and we have to close because you have the same pieces yeah that's a great question so we have two thresholds that we've established for an educational intervention that's what we call it ultimately your district will be responsible for making the decision on whether or not to close uh inventing some some like really serious breaches of medication the two scenarios that we currently are looking at which will promote a call from the health department will be by a ten percent caseload over a four week period so for example if you had a thousand students out of your school right your district if we saw 100 cases within a four week period that would be a big red flag for us to reach out to your community work

with their superintendent principal and other advisors within that community and figure out what is going on and how can we how can we get back on the right track um so that's more than a key there's a ten percent case for over four the other big indicator that we're looking at is the outbreak qualifier and if we see three or four more well three outbreaks within a four week period that's another really big factor that really tells us that there's some mediation efforts that they need to do a better job as a health department and reaching out to your community and doing a better job of educating on how to meet those requirements better okay thank you thanks frank hi brian this is leonard island i'm the principal here i have hi there i have

one question regarding ventilation and how critical that is if you do not have fresh air exchange necessarily your ventilation is recycling is that is that a significant detriment or is there a way around that that you guys have explored yeah so um we actually did a full webinar on this that i think you have recorded and posted on our youtube channel which i can send a link out to dr dooley later on that would be great i do i i i'm i'm pretty sure that the bcdc guidance is actually going to touch on information and specific standard strategies around that um because i don't know the specifics of that credits at this point in time i'm a little uh to give a specific citation on that what i can say is that previously there were

specific ventilation on uh um requirements that i can't get you off the top of my head i didn't try to go back and look at my notes and give those to you um but there were suggested hvac recommendations in terms of filtration and making sure that your your ac and your creating goodness whatever you're using at your school site are able to meet those enhanced ventilation requirements i know that a lot of schools because of uh uh older infrastructural constraints have been have been just opening the doors and doors the classrooms every every periodically throughout the day and using fans to get natural air circulation through those rooms there's also a lot of classrooms that have successfully been able to move into an outdoor educational space or periodically throughout the day we've seen some some

really good things around that too in terms of reduction in overall cases so that that's the best answer i can give you right now i am hopeful though thank you appreciate your time uh i unfortunately for you i have your email if i have questions i'll be saying not daily i'm sure thank you again and again very much your time yes in the plaza in fact the former owner is sitting here he's become a reporter so you got to be careful what you say around here yeah it's very it's very fun to sit there at this time of year in the plaza so great all right thank you brian have a good time space people could you hear that all along thank you all right the next is discussion on purple and construction items um

and if that deals primarily um the board is being asked to study your new existing pull with nine outbreak situations and direct administration on a model for continuing structure in this school and you listed three options i continue with online only i think and this is something that mr ed and i were speaking about today i know there's an interesting new community among the board to reopen some capacity because of what julianne said about the social emotional issue for children i'm constantly worried about co-vision kids so one of the things that we are worried about is if we have an outbreak for example the last two mondays last monday we had 11 staff members out part of it was regarding the vaccination we had on saturday there was reaction for some people more secure one

person i know just started their reaction yesterday so it's interesting that there's not a one answer to these questions unfortunately today we had i'm sorry yes we had 14 people out 17 we had nine people that were exposed in one event so they're quarantining if we have an event similar to that with students here whether on a hybrid situation we can't run a school we don't have anyone to take care of them so what we need to be able to do is rather than into our eye they say we're shutting down for the next week we're shutting down for the next eight days i don't want to call you folks together every time we have that type of attendance challenge but you want to have the kids safe and in a normal setting that's a

principle and we had shortage of substitutes 100 years ago we would break classes up and put five kids in every classroom to get rid of 30 kids perhaps with the social distancing we can't do that so we we want to be able to uh send kids home with the frenchman of course and then we have to make matters shut school down for a few days i spoke with staff from healed men today they've opened and closed three times this far this year and uh and so it's something and i see i hear the same thing with my colleagues in tucson uh much much bigger districts but they're going through some of the same things so again when we talk about continuing online program only instructional program again think about the rest of the year or

the other model i think talk about safety of kids here is having a hybrid model i want to start i said no later than february 22nd when i did this agenda we may want to push that back because unfortunately march 1st we're going to have people exposed so we may say but one of the things that's written it's not the part we talked about today was we may tell parents ahead of time we're going to be here on monday march 1st we're going to have online the rest of the week because the chances are high in what i read what i hear that second vaccination people receiving that vaccination have a more serious result people have i guess many copic situations so we can't keep students safe there's just mere supervision if we don't have

staff our substitutes and we'll talk about this again more tomorrow um i put a survey out to all staff recently just i gave them just five options i said please rate your preference from one to five one mean you're the most prepared five being your least preferred and the choices were uh an ap schedule starting in mid-february of hybrid uh all kids returning mid-february um a march 80 schedule two weeks after the second vaccine of saving state in march all kids returning or remote for the remainder of the year the results that came in were it was clear um the overwhelming first choice was mid-march av schedule the next clear second choice was remote for the remainder of the year and then the rest of them were uh further down further down the line um

as far as results but it was overwhelming then i mean it was very very very clear this election was an av scheduled by staff um starting in at least two weeks after their session what number your response did you get i got 27 of 30 teachers responded so that was very a very good response rate typically i get 29 or 30 responses when i put a survey out but we had a couple people out that just didn't respond because they had i mean three days so far yeah so the survey is still open they could still respond at any time but that's as of this afternoon so and then we will touch more on subs tomorrow but at this point in time something to consider is we do not have any subs that are willing

or able how do other schools handle them because i'm sure that all i mean you take the catholic schools they've been open since christmas um i had the school that i was teaching in venice in colorado they have been looking for a waterway and they haven't seemed to have like i said our biggest issue is the fact that we just don't have subs that are willing to do it i mean yeah on a normal but we've reached out to every single sub that we have on our list and we did have one that was interested but um had another issue come up that they're not able to so and i did reach out to to try and get heal event to see if they would be interested in sharing some stuff but they're struggling um

with substitutes as well so but i felt like that was my only other close resource that i could really contact and have at least some shot of recruiting outside of i guess my experience is that substitutions or teachers not coming in and not even as important and the education that the kids are missing and i don't feel that the um in-home learning in a lot of cases in doing it and that it's like a whole year lost and if we go a long way till the end it's so sad it [Music] my biggest is put something creative together that we can work something that they can come back to school the head of the cdc has been school opening has been a topic on all the talk show and the head of the cdc said

get those kids back it's the safest place they can be last weekend the second highest a group of people in pinot county that had the virus was under 19 the week before last we had three deaths in arizona a student of a person's under 19. so it's what how long did they go uh who got zero to 19. yeah but they didn't say that it was like 12 to 19 which is one of the things i hear is typically the primary grades are safer than the other grades yes because of just the way kids are the way and the size of the health and so on and so forth we're hoping the cdc new guidelines come out tomorrow because the bible said on sunday morning in an interview that the cdc was supposed to update

these few guidelines for schools on wednesday so i'll be checking all day me personally i believe they'd be back in the seats with the online option remaining for parents that don't want to send your kids i think we need to do that um i will even consider you know we have wednesdays or half days why don't we have a monday tuesday thursday friday schedule because i don't have numbers but i would like to know them and i think they can get those but i don't think we're gonna see the majority of the student population returning i think we're still going to have a large chunk maintaining online presence so i think if we did that my personal thoughts are i would like to see a monday tuesday thursday friday school week and with the online

option remaining um because i don't think we're gonna have every student that can deceive anything and i think to me i think it'd be a little important because this is all gonna come back up again for the fall semester and i would rather the district have a little bit of knowledge like okay we did this this didn't work this might work let's you know i like testing it out because it's going to come up again for the fall numbers are going to change you know invest rates are going to change um i think as long as the district is providing the ppe the teachers need and they get their vaccinations if they so choose to because i understand some people may not want to do it i'm fine with that i'm one that did not

get vaccinated i'm going to essentially void but i i think we need to have the kids back in the some type of classroom setting so they can basically get back in the groove of learning i have my personal opinion i think that's going to be the best bet and hey you know i'm not trying to turn the school into a bunch of guinea pigs but you got to do something because these kids are being affected so badly by this online at home i mean i i think about the essential workers stuff my kids all go to school and they are doing much better they're on top of their assignments are catching up where they were falling behind because they have at least a certified teacher they can say hey i have a question for this

one this isn't working and it's not over zoomed as you can see how wonderful zoom works they need that one-on-one with a certified teacher and i think we need to give them that opportunity if the parents will choose to send them to school tomorrow they'll have another call to the public is that a discussion [Music] um okay we have went to the county buses to try and figure out how many people we could get on there coming close to the social distancing guidelines from lukeville the largest county bus with close to social distancing was the bfl five feet instead of six feet we could get 13 hits on the largest we have 87 students registered um in louisville and between outside of auto to loophill total we have exactly 100 kids so 13 from just

outside of auckland and wide down and then we built his 87th close to 100 and that's what our numbers are as of this afternoon we can bring in roughly 25 kids because one of us is a little smaller than the other um at a time from bloomfield we did call people county superintendents and ask them hey you know would it be possible to have two more buses and drivers to be able to to accommodate that and we didn't get an answer we got straight laughter um because we were trying to be proactive and find out what our options were because we all know how long it takes to get through and to come back so there's really no way that our buses can make two runs for even half the kids to come in so

that's that's something it's definitely something we have to look at we have two buses we could run around town here in ohio for our local and we do have someone that we use as a second driver [Music] so that would give us two drivers the other issue is health checks for picking kids up on buses and concerns that we've talked about is there are no parents there so if the kid covered me for health check to get on the bus so those are some of the i mean these are all some of the things that we'll share a little bit more tomorrow right we've got a little powerpoint can you take the buses away from the town and put them on and have the parents drop the children off they did a very good job

of bringing them for breakfast in the summer time or transporting them or some of the activities around it and they can carpool and get the kids here and not have the buses running i talked to the county superintendent today about that and one of them was in maricopa county most school districts aren't owning classes not necessarily the case i'm talking to the county student every district that he knows that in penal county house and when i suggested you're trying to but he wasn't optimistic what he said that i have a hard time understanding is referred to mr allard and we constantly hear from dr falchi in social distancing social distance and social districts he said what's happening in tucson area basically kids are sitting they're sitting in every other seat but still with a bus

like mr edlund's describing we might be able to bring back twice as many kids we might be able to bring back 30. on town we haven't been beyond and then we have a part-time driver that you last year grew up this morning but gianna believed that he'd be that we would be able to have one bus from one side of the highway on the other side so i think more if we even we couldn't do that was make two runs but when we had 40 miles uh run to the border that's going to be the only challenge and one of my worries i want to be equitably equitable with all my kids now about 3 40. the state has lost so a third of the kids are coming yeah if we have we don't know

sure how many of us would start up again that was we had 25 percent last year are they living the trailer they all have very much no law that requires how many days will be killed to stay with the guardian that's that's and that's the challenge so that's no [Music] and then we get a little sort of a solid number we can work with and um you know we'll start thinking outside the box i like to see my kids here but you know what if it's going to come down to when we had to follow these certain guidelines if we did that back back in the summer we did that but so would you like us to try and do one with just the the pima county bus kids or let's try to keep it

with the lukeville area because let's see that's the third of those right there and see if we get somewhat a number on it um i know it's time consuming i appreciate you guys doing that um and you know if they have to if there's so many kids you don't even have to consider coming the lottery system for the bus so are you asking me clarify so you're asking how many parents would let their children come back or say it online correct that way you kind of get a number and then touching on the aspect of if the child has a fever too sick there's no one there you may have to stipulate a parent has to be there when they get on the bus there's no way around that you know we're all you know

accommodating things and having to adjust to it no his parents have to do it also our original plan the several things were not as serious as they have been in july the easiest thing to do is take temperature and do that for a child and we talk to teachers about that shannon wolf our nurse is doing that every day right now our students are here it takes away from instructional time it's just one of those things for safety but yeah we can we can try that i'm not sure if we can but i think within our times time frame but between now and march and we get something done just get this is some numbers um if if you do so decide to do opening in one way or another tomorrow well that's something to

look at this logistical realize i wouldn't have welcomed the bus stop i had a big brother real quick because we'll still have the same issue with is getting on the bus stops historically there's not been parents that those of us stopped see they're according to right if we went to a doctor and said the parent needs we're trying to prevent a child being there by themselves then the bus driver take their temp say here is 100.5 you can't come on however the first time a kid shows up at a bus stop and has a temperature and there's no parent there because that will happen [Music] parents to behave as well as kids being and all trans parents uh i'm sorry but it'd be nice to say okay mitch curry's around your kids i gotta be

online unless you promise you or your wife to be a bus stop with them today and i think right the first week that would be the huge report there might be some slacking off actually the other thing is um auto transportation green business they did last year um they look at that because they bring the kids over and all of a sudden they got a temperature couldn't it be something like the crossing guards it would be at the bus stop so that because seems to me loophole is small enough that they would know everyone in that area and they could be the designated parent and taken home um maybe we should limit many for this month we're in the bus and we'll be doing it for next month something i hate for him to lose

the opportunity but this is just logistically it may not be able to happen with how me here but many many are getting on the bus guardianship probably 90. maybe we just have to say and the same thing is happening it's not just air aluminum in mexico it's in makes out from arizona california arizona new mexico it's not about citizenship it's about residency and that's residency in arizona residents united states is students for a privacy there's a discussion of personal items it's just a resignation and that's not all the teachers that are on there it's just the ones who have given notice that they will be returned right and one of the things um we had two board meetings back we had introduced the budget about 500 and it's a community we will be we'll make

it through the year because we had too large carol on last year burdens and i are extremely nervous about what comes up for next year and we haven't had not had to have a reduction in force for some time but that may be happening we may have to for a year uh eliminate programs that we think about work for kids i received an email from someone today in the coke and foster money from the federal government would bail us out well the first one we had for example we don't know the details yet about how much it's going to be allocated how much the government is going to go to schools one of the only recipients of that money we received 112 000 in the first total economy passed big price spent here nine thousand

dollars and none of that money was not budgeted when we did the budget 2020 it was really your fiscal year sorry we had not anticipated so in fact this uh burns and i are meeting a week from tomorrow spend some time working on the closure but the fight is a long ways away the we gotta have a bike hearing in june and about your adoption in july and there we've got to talk about i think we need to save money and uh he's gonna get us himself we've been told some of our staff will come back so we're going to look at ways and maybe my philosophy uh i've heard informally from a few not a lot of done has read a little survey or passed out a letter from chance uh it's not it's

not minding i was talking to a person today i was looking for a certain teacher in a certain area that's hard to feel and i thought this person i knew from previous life it's one of the things to recognize i am i feel fortunate that we have as good of quality of philippine international teachers i don't know how we would catch the voters the last two years school started 2000 vacancies in the state of arizona with no teachers december last year this year last year we mitigated the laws of teaching because of coving there was a shutdown of the philippines so people on the j-1 visa instead of stopping five years after three years they needed a waiver to go to the fourth and fifth year with several people running fifth year last year and

so extended sixth year talking directly about immigration attorney i said when you wait again i thought it happened in seventh year and uh he does not think so i also talked to another district today about recruiting and they had hired they brought in a teacher just this last month from philippines and they're pretty pleased with the person they had so we don't know for sure we're going to act like we're going to be able to it's not a guarantee without that i've yet to hire in my time in office a teacher vote from asu or from usa at london unfortunately many students from large universities unless they've grown up in a small town and grown up here they want to live in the city with opportunities more chance for graduates this year thank you i

think so too i'm back revising the teaching contract making sure it meets all the bells and whistles of the law and as soon as that gets back with the board so teachers not on this list are not coming back or some of them might be we're not sure yet the water the ladder and the next is uh the business items from the february regular bonus meeting which is did you want to discuss them i i didn't realize we were looking at the whole thing together there is a paraprofessional that we're going to put forth to hire night we are doing an extended week um and march is coming very soon all right we go through the business then and the first item is the school [Music] mr calendar is the expert on this uh i

mean one morning we had our monday morning meeting and had it that afternoon the next day um i mean looking at it casually it's extremely close to what we have this year uh i hope you'll have kids more of this counter we've got this year no it's it's basically identical to what the one that's there this year it's just the dates have changed to match the holidays schedules but everything else everything else matches and we have the 490 days we had a mistake years ago i took the principal's word for it it wasn't mr ed's the long word and the principal couldn't count on it and so uh we had to change the way they had a couple days of school [Music] the number of hours per because especially in our k-3 they we changed

that about 10 years ago using this message 215. we keep them because of siblings that help them get home safely a lot of class runs you know plus your people get tired have one question um of the blue squares days that the children do not go to school those are wednesdays or those are half days those all right teachers conference then wrong those three days are only here half days correct because any more questions and the next is the declaration of solo source provider and that's for uh it is right yes air conditioning the firm is almighty air max the gentleman in town in the relations to terry henley we have had refrigeration units a number of them go out thank goodness to a cool weather um one staff we are worried about in an

office is the refrigeration system is also the heating system and so we have one of the approval through our school facilities board and we talked about attached we'll see the units we have one three and a half ton units which is not that expensive another three ton unit which is not that expensive but then we have several from gymnasium we have uh five uh four or five fifteen ton units and uh a seven and a half ten units those are quite expensive and so we're above we're almost at the mid questions but it's difficult to find people you know when construction is prospering the line drives off within refrigeration we've had one company for quite a while and they were operating here based on a residential license only they did they tried to charge us

twice for one bill and i had to deal with the arizona registrar contractors suddenly they changed mine and often and they have a new computerized system that's driven early that's engineers it's about masterpiece but what mrs burns recommended you have a contractor in town that go for sole source because the distance and credit the readiness of that person to repair or replace and because students if it's august or may refrigeration system goes out a classroom we've handled our coding problems together for a long time in school but it's not safe to understand work for our students so we're asking where to do our solutions and that's legal for procurement and organizations um his son works under his license is construction people want to have specs i i can tell you what we need but just

because my father was a constructionist and i understand how the respect and some things i might not have but i'm going to trust myself um [Music] um it's the um angelina's area i don't see it distributed just take office okay mr campus at least 40 years maybe 50 years in this district with both very strong personalities we didn't know he's a great but it was always a professional solution or conversation i think 24 hours on an agenda is enough uh it may be that people have other ideas um and i don't i don't see i don't see the need to rush it honestly in a month it could be put it in the paper it said we're seeing you can put on these two ideas but in the paper maybe we get some ideas some

comments and we can vote on it next month uh we talked about this about where being policy does not require a committee i have talked to people in the community about those candidates and um i don't think there's a lot of risk i don't know but um it seems we don't have to we don't have to ask our community what they think but it seems like something that we should do just as a matter of good faith let's say this is this is your community buildings we want to know what you think it just seems like it seems like crazy everybody just last month on this video um but mr governor stated last month we're elected by the community and we represent the community um i'm sure i spoke to the same people about really

knowing if we already have overwhelming support for this let's keep the agenda open for art for something else that we could do to run the agenda instead of doing this after a month of asking questions doing things like that i understand community involvement is very important but i think we have overwhelming communities according to us regardless of other and they think it's issues and so i don't think it's a brush it's just we've been talking about yeah i think it's also a nice gesture to just put something simple you'll have a chance to vote on that tomorrow night i mean i don't think we can make a decision tonight whether we would name or not so that tomorrow if you feel that way you wouldn't know it and then if we had the majority we

would carry it over and say now that it's on the intelligence [Music] um demonstrating demonstrating our efforts thank you do the last one is the board requested items for future meetings uh this is not going to be a holding item and legal meeting but this is just a discussion and there's several recommendations i thought this was what the board was i hate some people some workers but here for 18 19 years if any of the board members may have something left to then they can bring it up and that way we have another picture of it and then we can be looked at and say okay let's treat us what we need to put on this next month which of these and then we kind of all stand the same page it's not like just

surprise for some of us you know i i i i'm okay with that i mean we're all here to make discussions and discuss things and solve problems before it didn't happen i'm all for mitigating emergency before it happens so the other thing i was thinking about was you know we do this i almost feel like the part of the board is my responsibility to compile these things and then get what the president and the superintendent say hey these are what we have let me know what we're going to do so i give back to those individuals personally that way it takes a little less work off marsha dr dooley you know i'm a perk of the board i got you know i need to assume some more responsibilities here i guess i feel compelled to

and i don't know how the rest of you and so everything falls smoothly i'm um i'm not up for 7.50 [Music] oh okay is
