Mrs. Williamson, anything? >> Um, I had the privilege of visiting the high school and also Peralta Trail and that was really cool because of all the campuses, that's the only one I had never actually been to. Wow. >> So, it was very cool.

So that's fun. >> Okay, Mrs. Garcia. >> Um, so for Last Dutchman days, we um always do a like a kickoff at the end of the year and um Lost Dutchman for the Last Dutchman days, they always try to raise money for the youth and their final umization for the youth was $236,760. >> Wow. >> So they did really well this year. >> Very nice. >> Um and I had Mrs. Coker give me a breakdown and she said that they gave um AJ Little League 22,000 Boys and Girls Club got 47,000 4 um received 22,000. Was that Yes, I you can talk about that. >> I don't remember if that was >> I Yeah, >> that's what happens when we go on break, >> right? >> You know, >> so we went to the state of the city and um participated in conversations with community members, which was great. And I also had the privilege to visit the high school and talk to Mrs. G. >> Nice. All right. So, I've been kind of busy. I attended two uh community meetings. I attended one in Gold Canyon. Well, two in Gold Canyon. Um and I attended the Adobe meeting and at both meetings and I would say that he did an amazing job. Everybody was impressed with the things that we have going on and some of the things that the presentation showed was

from the start of when he began to where we are now. Um when Dr. Papalardo came aboard, we had libraries clues, we cut a lot of programs, we were in school improvement. Um those are just a couple of things. um when he um his first year the first thing he did was open up libraries, start getting our programs back. We changed elementary school times to start and end at the same time so that uh the elementary uh students can have sports and they can comp compete against each other which I thought was amazing and I and so many great things that Dr. Pupler is doing and the community was so impressed and I really would like Dr. Pablo to present that here one night. So I'm going to be putting pressure on him to do

that. So that's my report. Dr. Papalardo, you have some reports. >> Thank you, Madam President, members of the board. Students, staff, community members, we're glad you're here and we're glad school's back in session for the final quarter of this year. So let's make it a great quarter. Let's get it. Let's everyone get promoted and graduated on time. That's our goal. A few things I did. Um, you heard from the board members the places I've been because I was with them. Uh, also I met with the chief of police this right before break. Um, attended the Rotary meeting and I had the fortunate opportunity to attend the first win of the boys baseball team this year before the break. So that was great. All right, that sums up my report for this month. >> Very nice.

All right, Dr. Papalto, we are going to move on to >> We'll move on to staff and student recognition. >> Yep. >> All right. >> Well, good evening, Madame President, members of the board. Dr. Papalardo community, family, friends. It is my honor as the principal at Peralta Trail Elementary to recognize three amazing members of our Bobcat family. These individuals were nominated by staff on our campus and there was so many heartfelt amazing things shared with me on why our staff believe these individuals should be recognized. So, the first person I would like to call up is our volunteer and that's Dorothy Holman. Dorothy is being recognized as our volunteer of the year and she is one of our exceptional volunteers at Peralta Trail, dedicating her time to support students in kindergarten through 2 grade several

days a week. She has been a valued part of our campus community for many years and each time she returns, her presence brings a renewed sense of positivity and commitment to our students and staff. We are truly grateful for her continued dedication and the impact she has on helping our school community thrive. With an incredible, are you ready for this? 20 plus years >> of volunteer service, Miss Dorothy has made a lasting difference in the lives of the countless students. Our students genuinely enjoy working with her and eagerly want to share their learning experiences. Her dedication and consistency are evident in the growth and progress we see in the students that she supports, making her an invaluable part of our campus. We are very proud to have you as part of our Bobcat family, Dorothy.

Thank you so much for all you do. And thank you. And I really have enjoyed working with students for the last 20 plus years. I've seen so much growth in so many of them and have made good friends with them for many years. Thank you. So, our next individual we're going to recognized is our classified employee of the year and that is Jaketta Hoe, known as Miss Q. I am honored to present this award to Q as she has been the foundation to our office team over the past few years and some of our staff shared with me. Q may be retiring this year but her love and passion for Peralta Trail will leave a lasting legacy on our campus. She is a dedicated professional, a trusted friend, and a source of steady support for

both staff and students. Known for being dependable and always willing to step in wherever needed, Q consistently goes above and beyond to ensure our school community runs smoothly. She has also been in many ways a listening ear and source of encouragement to those around her. Her presence will be deeply missed and while we celebrate her well-earned retirement, there is no doubt that her impact on our community will continue to be felt. For me, it has been a true pleasure working alongside Q and getting to know her, especially hearing about her adventures with travel, hiking, and kayaking. She has brought that passion to our campus by creating opportunities for students through her afterchool hiking club, where the students not only explored the outdoors, but also learned what it's like to be part of a search and

rescue team through actual members who came and demonstrated. Q always taps into our community and builds the bridge of support. I so appreciate this Q. I deeply appreciate all that you have given to the Peralta Trail School community and it is an honor to present this award to you this evening on behalf of the entire staff at Peralta Trail. Lastly, we're going to honor our certified staff member of the year, and that is Mrs. Mara Aert. Mara consistently brings a positive and uplifting presence to her classroom, inspiring both her students and colleagues each day. Her unwavering encouragement empowers students to reach their full potential, while her willingness to share resources and ideas fosters a strong sense of collaboration among staff. She is dependable, supportive, and always contributes to a school environment where everyone feels valued

and connected. Her peers shared with me, "She is truly a ray of sunshine on our campus. Her positivity is contagious and she lifts those around her with her warmth and encouragement. No matter the challenge, Mara approaches each day with optimism, heart, and a student centered mindset. Her intentional work in smallroup instruction has led to meaningful student growth. She is thoughtful, patient, and deeply committed to meeting students where they are, helping them build both academic skills and confidence in themselves as learners. Beyond her classroom, Mara plays an important role in strengthening staff morale. She celebrates others, offers support, and contributes to a culture of collaboration and positivity across our campus. She always loves to send those funny memes just when you need it. She exemplifies what it means to be an outstanding educator and Peralta Trail

Elementary is better each day because of her. She is truly deserving of this recognition and it is my honor to present it to you on behalf of your colleagues at Peralta Trail Elementary. >> Picture time. Watch. >> Oh man. Congratulations. Thank you. Hello again. Now it is my pleasure to present our elks. I want to thank our elks for always recognizing our students. And so this evening I do I'm sorry what? Sorry. Come on up. >> There they are. Come on up. We appreciate you. We appreciate your support for our community, for our students of Apache Junction. So, thank you so much on behalf of our administration. Thank you. So, I get the privilege to present two more awards this evening and I'm going to present it to two amazing Bobcats at Peralta Trail. Our

very first student that I would like to call up is one of our first graders in Mrs. Longacre's class and that is Aura Bride. Aura is a kind, responsible, and bright first grade student who consistently represents Peralta Trail Elementary with pride. As her principal, I have the pleasure of seeing her both in the classroom and around campus, where she continually demonstrates outstanding citizenship and a strong commitment to doing her best. Her teacher shares that Aura exemplifies what it means to be a great learner and leader. She is hard-working, attentive, and consistently puts forth her best effort in all that she does. Orura demonstrates a strong understanding of classroom learning and takes pride in completing her work with care and accuracy. She is also inquisitive, always asking thoughtful questions and showing genuine curiosity about new ideas.

Her positive attitude and dedication to learning make her a wonderful role model for her classmates. Today I asked Aura, I said, "Do you know what you want to be when you grow up? Have you put any thought into that?" And she said, "Yes, I have a doctor." So I asked her, "Why do you want to become a doctor?" And of course, out of her kind little heart, she said, "Because I want to help people." And so I love her smile. She brightens up our campus. and what she loves most about Peralta Trail, she shared with me, is all of the nice teachers who help her each day. So, we are all so proud of you, Ara, and excited to recognize you as our Elk student of the month for Peralta Trail Elementary. Keep shining bright.

Our next amazing bobcat that I'd like to invite up is one of our kindergarten students from Mrs. Wayne Scott's class and that is Arthur Trout. His teacher shared with me, "I am so proud of Arthur and the growth he has shown in his learning this year. He works very hard each day and consistently tries his best even when tasks feel challenging. Arthur has made wonderful progress because he listens carefully, practices his skills, and continues to push himself as a learner. He is also becoming more confident in using his voice by asking thoughtful questions and actively participating during lessons. It is a joy to see how much he has grown and how bravely he shares his ideas with his class. Arthur, I am so proud of all that you have accomplished so far this year and

I am excited to watch you continue to grow in your academics. I feel blessed to have you in my class. Keep up the great work. And I want to share with Arthur that as his principal, it is equally wonderful to see him in his classroom and to see what a dedicated scholar he is. Arthur is a kindergarten student, but his thinking goes beyond that. He works hard, takes pride in his learning, and is always eager to share what he has accomplished with me when I come into his classroom. I also appreciate his kindness in the way he is thought a thoughtful friend to those around him. Arthur is a shining example of a student who leads with both heart and effort. So, I asked him as well what he would like to be when he

grows up. And at first he shared something with me and then quickly he changed his mind. He would like to be a police officer. And when I asked him why, he said because I want to arrest people who are bad. So Arthur is amazing. He just cuts through the chase and it's just straight to the point. Right? So then I asked him what he loves about Peralta Trail. And this was hard for Arthur, but because not because he didn't have an answer. He didn't want to limit it to just one thing. And so what he shared with me is, "I love everything about my school, my teacher, my class, and learning." So congratulations, Arthur. Thank you to our wonderful families for raising such amazing young individuals and human beings. We are so proud of you

both and I look forward to see what all you accomplish as you move on through Peralta Trail. So congratulations So, I know you're tired of hearing my voice. So, now I'm going to pass the mic over to our wonderful high school principal, Mrs. Skin. Good evening, Madame President, governing body, Dr. Papalardo, and community and friends. Um, thank you for being here tonight. Like, uh, Miss Smith said, and we never get tired of hearing her speak, that's for sure. I am Lisa again the high school principal and tonight I get the privilege of introducing two outstanding 11th graders to you. So first uh is Ellery Brennan and I didn't see her. Ellerie could not make it tonight but I want to tell you that Ellery um her favorite subject is history because she finds it so

interesting to learn about the past. People who inspire her are her sisters Cece and Erilyn by showing what hard work and determination is like. She if she could have a superpower, what would it be and why? And she picked teleportation so she can go anywhere anytime. If she could visit anywhere in the world, she would like to go to Australia. And a hidden talent is that she can do the worm. So, I was hoping to throw a challenge to her for prom so that we could each do the worm together, but she's not here. So, please spread that with her. You'll let Ellery know that the challenge has been laid. Okay. All right. When she grows up, she wants to be a med spa esthetician. I like it. I need one of those. All right.

Eller's algebra 2 teacher, Mr. Calio, says Ellery is a responsible and intelligent student. She consistently stays on top of her work and seeks clarification whenever she needs it so she can improve and do her best. Also, Miss Minnik says Ellery is a hard worker and a joy to have in class. And Miss Garcia says Ellery is a leader, engages well with her peers and teachers. So, congratulations, Ellery. I'm sorry you couldn't join us tonight, but hopefully you can watch the video and um start the worm challenge. I'm feeling it. Right. All right. Next up, Kaden Spicer, 11th grade superstar. Come on up, sir. This guy, I'll tell you what, I've had the privilege of watching him grow the last three years and really um just take off in high school. He just got back from

New York City where he went with the drama team and and did all kinds of great stuff there. So, be sure to ask him about that. Um, so your favorite subject in school is also history. You guys must have some good history teachers. Yeah. Um, he finds it intriguing and also valuable. So, someone who inspires you is Miss Uglueski. Iglueski. Thank you. Um, see how smart he is. She constantly inspires him to create a find the beauty in music and everything. He like to be able to read minds if he had a superpower because he's very nosy. I love it. Would if you could visit anywhere in the world, he picked Paris. All right. And when he grows up, he wants to be an ER nurse. someone who's made a positive impact are both Miss

I the choir teacher and Mr. Lampir and advice to other students to be successful. He said, "Take high school seriously. It all matters." All right, let me tell you what some of his teachers said. So, from Miss Min in English, m she says, "Kaden asked good questions and is extremely conscientious about your grade because one of his goals was to keep his 4.0, right?" Yes. So, very conscientious. In honors algebra 2, Mr. Biri says, "You are an outstanding student, consistently demonstrating excellent understanding of complex concepts, actively participating and approaching challenges with a positive attitude." Awesome. All right. Lastly, Mr. Lampir, drama teacher, says, "He is one of the hardest working students in my department. He is always ready to take on responsibilities and additional duties. He worked tirelessly to choreograph both of the shows and

did quite well this year and had major roles in them as well. His energy is infectious and I agree. Congratulations, Kaden. It is an honor to be your principal. >> Yes. And now I get the honor of inviting up Mrs. Melinda Oar, the fabulous junior high principal like no other. Come on up. >> Thank you, Madame President, board members, Dr. Papalardo, and community. I get to invite two very special Cactus Canyon Cougar students up. So proud of these two. Um the first one is Angie Rojos Bedale. So, a couple things about Angie. We asked her a couple questions. Um, and I get to share some of those answers with us tonight. She was asked, "What are three words that best describe you?" And she says, "Three words that represent me are determined, creative, and supportive."

She asked, "Who's a role model and why? I believe my dad's my role model because he stays happy and composed even under mass pressure and he's always helping my family. And then we asked, "What is your dream job once you graduate high school?" And the dream job would be in law or the medical field. We also asked Angie some some of her teachers to say some things about Angie. Um and so from Miss Murray, we have Angie is an excellent leader and a student. She's extremely trustworthy and does everything to the best of her ability. She works extremely hard. She is kind and helps others guide others into kindness when they're not being kind to others. She's very self-aware and is constantly looking for ways she can improve. Take corrections and criticism with grace. And

then from Coach Kim, "Angie's a great student. She's always the first one to offer help when I ask for it. I never have ever seen her in a bad mood and she's always striving to improve. Congratulations, Angie. Our second Cactus Canyon Cougar is Gel Curiel Hernandez. I learned some very interesting things about Gel. Um, we asked what was one skill that you have that makes you unique and he says doing tricks on his scooter. And that was a common theme with our questions because one of the other one was what is a goal you are currently working towards either in or out of school and he says I'm trying to uh to learn more tricks for my scooter. So very common theme. Um, he was also asked what he wanted to do after after he

graduated high school and he wants to go into welding and be a welder. So, we have some great classes for you once you get up to high school. Um, and then we asked um some teachers to say some things about Gyle as well. Gyle is a student who this year I've seen grow more than any other student. He has been working so hard to keep his grades up and stay on track. He asks for help and stays for tutoring. Gyle is beyond one of my best math students in the seventh grade because he is willing to take risks. I am so proud of how far and how how far and how willing he is to try hard every day. From Miss Romero and then from Miss Burn. Guyella is an amazing student. He has grown

so much academically and is determined to be the best he can be. He takes his time when he's working on difficult or challenging tasks but does not give up and always has a smile on his face. Congratulations, Gail. Thank you. You're great. And I'm going to uh have Desert Vista Principal Font Fant, sorry. Thank you. >> Thank you, Mrs. Obar. Madame President, members of the board, Dr. Papa Lardo, members of the community, colleagues and families, thank you guys for being here. I am Kelly Fant. I am the principal of the Desert Vista Mustangs. I'm honored to present two of Desert Vista's students tonight for recognition. Unfortunately, one of them wasn't able to be here because mom decided to have a baby instead. So, I told him I would save him for next time because when

he was going out to the buses today, he's like, "I'll see you tonight." And I'm like, maybe not. So, I said, we'll save you for next time, so it'll be fine. But I do have um our third grader here tonight, Selene Ortiz. All right. So, I've had the pleasure of talking with Seline and she shared that her favorite thing about Desert Vista is going to specials, especially art. And so, we had a nice long conversation about art. Um, she has that true passion for creativity and even enjoys doing pottery at home. She's got her own little pottery wheel and she's excited because she made some pieces for mom and that turned into when I asked her, you know, what might she want to do when she grows up, she was had a very long pause.

And then she's like, I think I might want to do pottery. So, I told her I'm going to keep a lookout for her name and might be able to find some good pottery pieces, you know, when she um when she grows up. Um, she also enjoys science. She likes doing experiments and hands-on projects. And she's demonstrated strong academic success, showing that she's highly proficient in ELA and has made steady progress in math as well. Outside of school, she likes spending time with her dog, Rio. Or flying kites. You don't hear that one very often anymore. Her favorite color is pink. And her favorite food is cheese pizza. Not pepperoni, just plain cheese. >> Mrs. is good. Her teacher says, "Seline is an amazing student who truly leads by example each and every day. She consistently

shows kindness and respect to everyone around her, creating a positive and welcoming environment in the classroom. Selena is always willing to lend a helping hand, whether it's assisting classmates with tasks or supporting others during lessons, and she does so with patience and encouragement. She comes to school ready to learn and is always eager to take on new challenges. She approaches her work with a positive attitude and gives her best effort no matter the task. Her strong character, work ethic, and willingness to support others makes her a wonderful role model for her peers. She's a true joy to have in the classroom, and she makes a positive impact on everyone around her. Congratulations, Seline. So since my first grader is not here, I have the >> he jumped the Fine. >> So, I will welcome up

Mr. Bamman, president um principal of the academy. >> Changing up on you are messing you up. Sorry. >> Uh Madame President, members of the board, Dr. Papalardo, community members, and family. Um it's my honor to recognize my students for the month of March. Um, we base our criteria on citizenship and scholarship. Um, my first is a third grader. Um, she is not here. She went on vacation and has not returned. Has a hard time catching flights and she's from Miss Rice's class. Her name is Talia Alosi. Just a quick thing on her. Um, she makes sure those around her are feeling supported and included. Her positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to serve others make her a standout leader in the classroom. my student that is here. Hello, Marcus. It's my pleasure to recognize

Marcus Machuka. Come on up, buddy. Marcus is a kindergartener in Miss Jones class. He is a truly kind-hearted and thoughtful member of our classroom community. He consistently demonstrates the virtue of kindness by being one of the first to welcome students, showing them around campus if they're new, and helping them feel comfortable and included. He naturally looks out for others and makes sure that no one is left out both in the classroom and on the playground. Marcus works incredibly hard each day um says each and every day. And the growth he has this year shown um has been wonderful to witness. He approaches learning with excitement and curiosity. And it is clear that he has developed a genuine love for learning. His confidence continues to grow as he eagerly participates, shares his thinking, and engages in

all classroom activities. From Miss Jones about Marcus, I am so proud of you, Marcus, and all that you have accomplished. You are a joy to have in class, and I feel very lucky to be your teacher. I cannot wait to see the amazing things that lie ahead for you. Congratulations, Marcus. And I lost the coin flip. So I get to introduce from Four Peaks, uh, Sunonny Brokammani. Right. >> Governing board president, board members, Dr. Papalardo, families, community, and colleagues. I am honored to present to you two of our four peaks roadrunners today. So, I'd like to start with inviting Lena Nicole Selenas to join us up front. All right. This is Lena, but she likes to go by Nicole. She is a kindergarten student in our dual language program. Her teachers are Mr. Castro and

Mrs. Duke. Nicole likes coming to school because she says, "I love to learn in English and Spanish. She says her favorite thing about Spanish is when we sing songs and learn. I like doing phonics in my English class. And then she says for fun, I like to play on the playground. Her favorite food is macaroni and cheese. And she says when she grows up, she wants to be a Spanish teacher. Miss Duke, her one of her her English side teacher says, "Nicole is an amazing student and a joy to have in class. She works very hard and has made so much growth this year. She is becoming a great reader and is a great friend to all of her classmates. She said she loves having her in her class. Congratulations, Nicole, for representing Four Peaks

Elementary. All right. Now, William Edwards, come on up. This is William. He is also a kindergarten student and he is in Miss Dixon's class. He says he loves coming to school because we get to do math and play on the computer. His favorite thing to do at school is also recess, but in addition to that, he likes PE. His favorite food is chicken dinos and French fries. He wanted to make sure it was dinos, right? Not just chicken nuggets. All right. For fun, he says he likes to play video games. However, he's only allowed to play video games. He told me on Friday, not during the week. He says when he grows up he wants to be a firefighter. And I asked him why, and he says, "Because they're cool." Okay. and he says, uh,

Miss Dixon, his teacher, says that William is a hard-working, dedicated learner in the classroom. He always brings a happy smile and positive attitude every day. He has made amazing growth this year. He's always so helpful and kind to his classmates, and I can count on him to always do the right thing. She says, "Keep working hard, William." And congratulations, William, for representing Four Peaks as student of the month. >> Picture time. >> They ran over. >> Dr. a little >> somewhere. I need to switch. >> Yeah. You're almost pictures. >> Me too. pictures. Okay. Congratulations everyone. Thank you to the Elks Club. >> We are going to take a 10-minute break. resume meeting in public. On to uh item three, consent agenda. Would somebody like to make a motion on the consent agenda? >> Madam

President, I'd like to make a motion to approve the consent agenda. >> We have a motion. Would somebody like to second? >> Second. >> Mrs. Ross seconds. Mrs. Ross. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Williamson, >> yes. >> Mrs. Garcia, >> yes. >> Mrs. Lane, >> yes. >> And on my Yes, that motion passes 5 to zero. >> All right, wait a minute. Let me see where I'm at. Um, item four, public comments. Mrs. Golf, any No. Okay, I'm surprised. Okay, information and discussion items 5.1 ESA flex program. Dr. Papalardo. Madam President, members of the board, community members, staff, um this is what we talked about in our work session before the before the break. >> Dr. Pablo, use your microphone, please. >> Thank you. >> Okay, got it. >> All right, there. That sounds better, right?

>> Yes. >> So, we want to do a flex program. Um, and the reason we want to do that is we want to recapture some enrollment from community members and parents that we have met in the south part of Apache Junction. Okay. Um, right now they're either taking an ESA or they're homeschooling their their students because they were able to. Okay. Um, and what we're learning about that as we are trying to re-imagine schools is that they they are looking very closely at custom customization is what they want. They want to pick the class, they want to pick the time, they want to pick the day, etc. Okay. So, we want to try and reach out and meet that need for our kids that are south who may be getting an ESA or homeschooled or

outside of our district. So, it allows our district to stay connected to families, support those students successes to provide opportunities they wouldn't have unless we provided it. um programs and opportunities and strengthen our relationship with those families. So, as I said, so we want to give hybrid learning options, flexible academic access to what they feel they need, that particular course work, um enrichment and social opportunities they might not have, and of course, college and career readiness. So whether that be a single course in a STEB lab, whether that be a fine arts or performing arts program, they want to be a part of a CTA CTE certification pathway, um, athletics and extracurriculars, all those things they would want to have that they wouldn't normally get if they could choose us to do that. Okay? Because

I think we live in an age now where public education is changing or the public wants something different than they've had before. They want flexibility. That's they want to maintain their own independence and do it on their schedule, whatever that might look like. um they they still have aspirations for career and college readiness and they would like someone to provide that and all the same by staying connected to their community rather than going outside of it. So, we believe that through this we can increase awareness about our program offerings here, what we're doing differently. Um, so that we would have Nikki and her team do all that promotion for us following this board meeting. Okay. She has a template ready to go upon your approval. So, we're going to particularly, as I've stated before, target

homeschooled and ESA students. Okay? That's where we're that's what our target audience is. Okay? And there's a number of different ways to target that and Nikki has laid that out in this slide and I'm sure she has some other ideas she would provide to you. Um, she's already has a web page built for it that hasn't gone public yet. Um, we're working on a we have class wallet so that we can accure those funds for what we're charging for those classes. Okay. Through ad we've already had that set up. So here's our timeline. So we're in March. So first the first roll out here is about the contact points, right? Counselors, principles, and the front office. Um is working on that right now, how to collect that data and get it out. Um phase two

launches in April. Um, we're going to announce it everywhere by that referral information to all of our schools and all of our departments. Phase three, um, that's when we begin hosting um, event nights to attract those families in particular. And phase four is when we go, would we have those students? We put them in the inactive list as we talked about in the work session so that we can keep track of them and we move forward. Okay. So we've already talked about what's so what's the goal here? The main goal is to provide an opportunity for kids they would not have somewhere else and they don't have to go outside of AJUSD to to get it. Okay. All right. So there's a pricing sheet that goes with that. Okay. So that's we have a pricing

sheet for the elementary schools and we have a pricing sheet for the high school courses. Okay. So that's that's what we're looking for approval for tonight. Okay. >> And this goes with um what we're going to present to you from three of our schools at the April 1 work session. um reimagining school. Okay. >> All right. Board members, any questions for Dr. Papardo? >> Mrs. Ross? >> Um, no questions. I I just think that this is so forwardthinking. I'm just really impressed. >> Mrs. Williamson, any questions? >> No questions. >> Mrs. Garcia, any questions? >> So, last time we talked about this. Okay, so first of all, the the ESA student they actually sign a contract versus like the homeschool affidative right that's what makes them the >> they have or they so what's different

with ESA they have signed up with the state right so Apache junction becomes a vendor through the class wallet okay so they automatically deposit their funds and select us and whatever course requirements they are so that when they get audited they know the money is going to a real thing. >> Okay. >> Right. Versus um homeschoolers, there isn't a way to track that currently. >> Okay. And then I know there was some questions in regards to the sports part. So the participation requirement, they have to live in the school attendance zone. Correct. >> If if that bill passes, right now it's still open. That Senate bill hasn't >> passed legislation and hasn't made it made its way to the governor's desk. >> Okay. So, that's the legislation part of it. >> Yeah, that's still legislation

that's ongoing. Okay. >> All right. So, then so then when that does if that's does pass then is that a variance if they're not in our district or will that be the bill that they have to be in our district? So if that passes then they would if that bill was to pass then it would only those students could only play for us if they lived in the AJ boundary. >> Okay. >> So right now the variance is they can play even if they're not in the district. >> Right. No matter where they are they just pay their fee and they can play. >> Okay. >> Because um Mrs. Garcia right now it's open enrollment. Kids can go wherever and the money follows them. Yeah. >> So that bill would have to change that. >>

It would it would it would change the whole rule of the game. >> So I would be surprised if that was to do that. >> Okay. >> Any other questions, Mrs. Garcia? >> I don't think so. Mrs. Lean, any questions? >> No questions. >> No, I think this is wonderful. I think this is a way to offer programs and opportunities for kids that are homeschooled that don't get these things. And who knows, they might like coming to our school, you know? I think it's great. Dr. Popler, as far as the pricing sheet, um I'm not sure how did you determine the amounts? >> Well, that that determination was made by other districts who were doing something similar. >> Okay. >> So, we don't want to be too far ahead of them. >> Correct. >> Or

too far below. Right. >> So, we're right in the in the middle of there. Okay. >> Okay. That makes sense. Thank you. All right. Moving on to 5.2. K8 summer school pay for students outside of AJUSD? Dr. Balardo? >> So, we've had some inquiries because um some schools in in the East Valley are not going to offer summer school as they had in the past. So, we've had um K8 inquiries that if we are offering summer school, can they attend? Right. And so, we need to set a fee for that. Um so um so we're setting a summer school fee of $160 for students who attend um K5 summer school. Okay. Or K8. All right. Um so that's you know whether that whether they're in the ESA program or they're just a homeschool kid or

they're from another district it'll be the same price. Okay. >> Okay. Any questions on that, Mrs. Ross? >> Um, but the students that are enrolled with us, >> there's no charge. >> No charge. >> That's it. >> Mrs. Williamson, any questions? >> Um, I don't think so. >> Mrs. Garcia, >> will we have um options for summer school for the high school as well, or is it just going to stop at the ETH? It just stops K through eight. >> Okay. >> Um, >> do we have any plans of having summer school for the high school or no? >> I'm not prepared to answer that today. I don't know the answer to that. >> Okay, >> that's my best answer. >> Did we have that last year? We went summer school for the high school.

>> I do not believe we did not. >> I think we did. >> Gins, Mrs. Gins saying yes. >> I'll get back to you. There's a yes. >> One yes in the audience and one no. >> Okay. Will you will can you follow up with that? Dr. >> I certainly will. >> Okay, Mrs. Le, any questions? >> No, my question was asked. >> Perfect. All right. Thank you everyone. Let's move on to action items. 6.11, approval of the employees health insurance benefit package for 2026 2027. Any questions on that? We went over this in the work session. Somebody like to make a motion. >> Madame President, I can make a motion to approve the employees health insurance benefit package for the 26 2027 school year. >> We have a motion. Would somebody like to second?

>> Second. >> Mrs. Ross seconds. Mrs. Ross. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Williamson. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Garcia. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Lane. >> Yes. >> And yes, that motion passes 5 to zero. 6.2. Approval of the employees benefit package for 2026 2027 school year. Any questions on that? I have um just a a quick question. Are there any changes into any changes to the employee benefit package between this year and last year? >> Dr. Papalardo, >> in terms of >> um amounts being given out, >> no. >> People who were grandfathered in as you as you look at this are the same, right? So, no one's being added or reduced from that. Okay. unless they've left the district. >> Um, so >> all the numbers are the same. >> The numbers are the same for

all the classifications. >> Okay. >> All right. Would somebody like to make a motion? >> Actually, I have a question. >> So, I um I guess I should have provided a copy to the board, but I I made a copy from last year, and I just have a couple questions from from this year. Um and for future if it's possible if we could have comparison from last year to this year on the just so we could look at it. >> Sure. >> Um so the under the director's principles from LA last year we had a dean and teacher on assignments TOA. Do we not we don't have that anymore? >> We that >> so we have that but we haven't used that position. Okay. position hasn't, excuse me, the position hasn't gone away. We're just

not using it. >> Okay. So, that's not going to be on the benefits package. >> Correct. Because we're not currently using that. >> And then can you explain? So, if we're not if that whole lines out, then I don't have questions on that. But like the certified staff um from last year for the contract days was 202 to 204. Um, and this year is contracted 202. Is that from us adjusting the calendar? >> That's for the adjustment of the calendar. That's correct. >> Okay. And then um same thing with the part-time classified, right? Last year was 142 to 184. This year is 143 to 182. Okay. So the one question that I had was last year we didn't have so the assisted principles we didn't have anything for the stipen it was NA but this

year we have 3,000 is that new >> think about that >> assistant principal >> I'm trying to think of anybody's grandfathered in on that I don't believe we have anyone that's that's doing that. >> So the So do we have any assistant principles this year? >> Yeah, we do. >> Okay. So does this is this benefit for the ones that are here with us now or >> No, I think that was prior. >> That was prior. >> This is for next year. >> no, no, no, >> no. >> Because this says six to seven. >> Yeah, >> I think that was prior who was grandfathered in. >> But they're I don't think they're here. That's just if somebody was grandfathered in, but I don't believe we have anyone. >> So for next year, >> it

was >> Will we have any assistant principles? >> Yes, >> we have three. Correct. >> Yes, we will have a Yes, we will have a >> So that stipen is going to be for them. >> No. No. >> It's just if you were grandfathered, they were here already, right? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> And then I remember us speaking of the um so you know when we were talking about the life insurance. Okay. So last year it says the district paid life insurance of 5,000 for spouse and child for life insurance. >> Yeah, that's incorrect. >> It is incorrect. >> Yeah, last year's was incorrect. >> So last year did we we was it just spouse? >> So no. So remember as we paid as we looked at this, right? Uh so district paid life

insurance 5,000 for spouse and child, right? And as we dug into that document, it was when it says child, it wasn't child, it was children >> last year. >> This >> Oh, this year. >> This year it is. >> Okay. Right. >> So, it's more than one this year. >> It can be. Yes. >> Okay. >> It actually it has been for a long time, but it was put as child, right? >> And that's that's the confusion we cleared up with the insurance company. >> Okay. That's what that's what I'm asking is when we were trying to figure out that. So >> last year it looked like it was just one child, right? >> That's what it looked like, but that was not the case. >> So do you think on this 2026 2027 should

we change the spouse/child? Should we make it like children or does it matter? >> I don't think it matters because it's going to get paid out, >> but we know it's more than one. >> Yes. >> Okay. Because it's whatever the policy states. >> Yeah. Right. The policy states it can be. >> Right. Okay. All right, those are the those are the questions that I had. >> Thank you. >> Any other questions? >> No. >> Should we have that 30,000 siphon on there for assistant principles if that's not something that we're going to be >> Well, that's what I was just going to ask. I was say >> why would we not take that off? >> Since it's not going, we can remove that. >> Yeah. So, I was just I noticed it wasn't on

last year, so I just don't know if we added any in and we're not going to use it. I say it needs to go, >> right? But I think there's an explanation at the bottom of it explaining it, but we could remove it. >> Where is it on the bottom? >> I thought it was explained somewhere. >> Yeah. See, it says you had to be hired by that date >> prior to Okay. Yeah. Right. >> And right now we don't have anyone. >> Right. Yeah. >> Going forward. >> Right. So we could just take >> Well, you have if you look at I don't think you should remove it till next year. >> Okay, >> that would be my recommendation to you is leave it for this year because you have some people that were

hired before 2024 even though they're in different roles now and then remove it for next year. >> Okay, >> we're talking about this year and next year. There's none this school year that was Okay. >> Right. >> Well, there won't be, but Yep. >> So, there the explanation is in the document, >> right? >> So, >> okay. So, I'm so confused. Okay. So, for 2025 2026, we have NA and then for this next year 2026 2027, we have assistant principles getting 3,000. No, >> we do not. >> So then we should remove that. >> Yes. >> Yeah. So I think our motion should be to remove it then. >> Yeah, >> we can remove it. I mean, there's an explanation in there for the the the years on there and the dates, but we can

remove it. It's it's the same thing. >> Do you think we should have NA though if it if it doesn't apply? >> Yeah, I mean we can >> we can we can just take it off. >> Okay. Then we can remove that explanation as well. Y won't be >> No, no, you still need the that um that you're talking this little thing right here, right? We still need that because we still have directors. It doesn't apply, >> right? Just for the 30,000. >> Yeah. >> Right. >> Okay. >> Oh, just Okay. Just for the 3,000 for the 5,000. >> Correct. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Correct. >> Yeah. And Dr. Dr. Pablardo, would you say since we're making that amendment, should we just do for benefits for district paid life insurance, should we just change it

to children? >> You can. >> So, just to make it more clean, >> you can. >> Okay. >> We don't have any directors either. >> What's that? >> We don't have any directors >> for >> because there's another 3,000 right here for directors. We don't have any directors. >> We do have directors that are grandfathered in. >> Yeah. Right. >> But okay. But there's no directors that have been hired prior to 24. Okay. >> Yeah. >> So then we can get rid of the three. Okay. >> Right. >> Any other questions? Nope. All right. So would somebody like to make a motion? Kim, you want to make the motion and clear that up? >> Yes. So Madame President, I'd like to make a motion to approve the um employees benefit package for of uh all

employees um full-time. Line item two, district paid life insurance to read district paid life insurance of 5,000 for spouse/children. Okay, >> we have a motion with somebody like to second. >> Second. >> Mrs. Ross seconds. Mrs. Ross, >> yes. >> Mrs. Williamson, >> yes. >> Mrs. Garcia, >> yes. >> Mrs. Lean, >> yes. >> And yes, that motion passes 5 to zero. Item 6.3, approval of the ESA flex program pricing. We just had that discussion. Any other questions on that? >> Mrs. Ross, any questions on that? No. Mrs. Williamson? >> No. >> Mrs. Garcia, any questions on that? >> No, I don't have questions. >> No questions. No. Oh, actually do. Miss Dr. Papalardo. When do you I know it's legislation, but do you know when that do we foresee or know when that uh

sports part is going to pass or not? No, >> we don't know. Um the Senate is just going to begin >> this week hearing bills. So we don't >> So we'll be able to adjust to that as >> as it comes. Okay. >> Well, we have any our policies and everything change with the new bills. >> Yeah. Okay. >> Okay. All right. Um so I'll make a motion to approve the ESA flex program pricing. So we like to second. >> Second. >> Mrs. Garcia second. Mrs. Ross. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Williamson. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Garcia. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Lean. >> Yes. >> And I'll be ask that motion passes 5 to zero. 6.4. Madam President, I'd like to make a motion to approve the summer school pay for students outside of AJUSD. >> We have a motion. Um, Dr. Papardo, do we need to put the amount? >> I put the amount. >> I think you need to put the amount. >> You should put the amount. >> It's probably better to put the amount just 180. 160 >> $160,000 >> $160 >> one expensive >> one student will do >> okay madam president >> start over camp >> let me start over do you want 160 mad >> president like to make a motion to

approve the school pay for students outside of ADAUSD for $160. >> Thank you. We have a motion. Somebody like to second. >> Second. >> Mrs. Ross seconds. Mrs. Ross. Yes. >> Mrs. Williamson.
