001Are you Okay. Are you notified? The whole meeting board of education 46 p.m. on Monday school, please. >> Here Smith here, >> Dixon here, >> Philly >> here, Mus here. Severson, >> Greenley. >> And then you need any board of education members participating remotely. Is the work. >> Okay. The committee of the whole meeting of February 9th. Can I get a motion? All in favor? Well, first up, we have a presentation for the amended 2025 2026 agenda. Okay, ready? Everybody, this is something that we typically do every year. Um, as we get closer to the end of the year, we're able to kind of project the better where we're going to end up. some good amended budget. But the big reason why we're on tonight is the transfer of funds have the high school cafeteria

002projected funds that are within the education fund transfer fund that project sale from the Maris Elementary School. Um, we had a couple other additional construction projects that we added. We wanted to incorporate our final rooms and properly align any other revenue or expenditures and look at all our salary benefits and update those. Um so just calendar for 30 days April 13th we have the public hearing document budget and we'll submit that at the next is just a quick breakdown of our revenues different sources. So you have your local revenue which is 56% state revenue and federal another breakdown majority of our funds are coming from local property taxes and our evidence based funding and then um majority of any school district budget is going to be personnel but as you can see here you know

003it roughly range between 65 to 70% of any school district's budget because personnel and this is just another graphic on obviously the education fund is where the majority of our expenditures. So our revenue what we changed the bond sale EPS tier funding was a little different than what we originally expected. So we updated that and all our title grants they came in as they upgrades kind of listed these out of stuff we're doing this summer updating the budgets on those added. Um and then we had some onetime expenses. So because of the increase in tier quality panel adoption district and this has six years then driver. So this is just a quick breakdown. Our original surplus had 275,000. Our mandated one at the end of this year is projected to be valuable but that includes.9

004million France balance right it's really not concerning that this is happening because we had some sort of lesson in the previous recent years it's trying to spend Um it's been appropriately for our facilities like those smart channels like that all those things are investing right back. Next up, we have a special recognition of landing as finalist for the 2026 Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching. I'm excuse deep foundation honoring educators and advance educational opportunities. February 25th day for prestige gold awards excellence in teaching gold medal awards for excellence in teaching honor outstanding teachers for having lasting positive effects on students lives teacher finals demonstrated through their teaching and results significant positive impact on their students growth this year there were 600 nominations and a highly competitive award processing and three fourth grade teacher finalist

005we're very proud Two of those three right here generously provides a recipient received $5,000 cash award and award recipients fellow grow of the golden path academy educators educators who play an important role in preparing the next generation of leaders way. Thank you Kelly Win for setting the example and providing us all what it means to show up of the fairway. Um, and they said that they look like foot and I said, "Oh." And I said, "You fun and the principal." They said, "And one of the kids said, we also had two teachers that won these awards and these two I think like I don't even know what grade they were in, but they were excited to know they did something really wonderful. absolutely great and celebrated. Congratulations. And next up, we have a school spotlight

006from elementary. So, take it away. >> Okay, here's what I have to bring you tonight. Tonight, I'm going to be sharing a little bit about what I like to call the gate funnel. I'm a firm believer that when our buildings are managing well that the leaders can lead and the teachers can teach. So it can help me get the management square and I don't think those other two things can happen. So this is the work that we've been doing over the last four years. So I'm going to lace in some video work with some kids to show you exactly what I mean up here. And there's basically four arms of the Franklin on Monday. We do the positive office on the news. That's studentled broadcaster on Class Dojo. Every single day of the week, Monday

007through Thursday, we're highlighting good things that students are doing in their classes behaviorally, academically, and socially. That's every day, Monday through Thursday, Friday. We have a thing called Dojo Madness. I actually adopted this Dr. Principles idea when he was principal back in the day at Washington Elementary School. and model that I participate dojo Wednesday our news broadcast each morning that airs at 7:50 a.m. pictures of our students engaged in learning I don't take pictures of kids unless they're locked in facing up front etc. So these are the four arms and I can show you these example girls on the news and what you could expect to see your friendship live local in late breaking. Thank you for tuning in to another episode of Franklin News. Now here are your hosts. >> Everybody happy Monday. It's

008a Monday. It's Tuesday today and that means it's time because it's the beginning of the week for some positive office referrals. So our first positive office referral this week is from Mrs. Linds and they nominated Miss Sophia. They also nominated Mr. Grace Ellis this week. We also have class Joe. This is a an example of behind the scenes. So this is an example of what occurred last week on Thursday when we found out last week when we found out >> and what our leaders say. Ava, what do you think? >> Um I am like very happy because like this is so cool and like you said earlier there's over 130,000 scores. So that's like a one in 130,000 chance. >> Pretty awesome. Felix, what do you think? I think it's insane. You're one of the

00915 schools to get out of over 100,000 schools. >> I agree. Emily, you got anything? >> Yeah, I'm really proud that and for us, we continue to be the best. >> Another example is what happens on Friday. So, if you guys visited Franklin recently, you'll know that we have a vending machine. We tie that directly to dojo. students over 90% positive behavior for the week on dojo. Our teachers randomly select a student. Now, those random 12 recipients come down for day. >> Hey everybody, we're behind the scenes once again and we've got some pretty special people here. Now, I want to ask them a couple of questions. Miss Richard, what are you doing down here? >> Dojo. You're the Dojo Madness Champion. Adrian, how did you get to be the Dojo Madness Champ over what?

010Over 90% what? >> Said um good >> 99% good behavior on on what, Kimberlin? >> Uh dojo class dojo. >> On Class Dojo. And so your teachers randomly selected you. And so we've got most of our representatives right now and they are going to show you how the one and only book vending machine in Molen Kali schools works. So Kimberlin, can you do the honors? So Kimberlin's going to take her token. She's going to put it in the slot. >> Now Kimberlin's going to look around. Hello, Meredith. She's going to look around and she's going to take a look at all of these books. Let's see what she picks here. folks. Then she's going to key it in. Lucky number 13. Here it comes. And voila. Everyone got a book out. >> Yeah, baby. Hey

011guys, are you guys excited to get some books? And finally, each day our student broadcast Mr. and take pictures of you to put on so far. Finally, I believe the data volumes like the numbers never lie. So these are the colonels by Eric over the course of the last four years. You can you can tell that basically we cut it in started at about 180 that plummeted back to about 80. Then we've been about 60. Then last year we hit 30 and right now we're at 31. So depending on if it's a April minus last year but pretty narrow. We're definitely not going to get that 180 again. So I'm pretty proud of our school, proud of all the teachers that buy into NOJO and cash in and cash out of dojo that randomly select

012students on Nojo this way. Franklin as a school is a place where kids can learn and teachers can teach in the managerial aspects of being principal and a teacher are like any school in America, right? We have our days, but those days are not very often. So that's what I have for you guys tonight. Falcons. Thank you guys for learning about the behavior of students and see how much pride the school takes in achieving those goals and thinking those things by students that like it's will see as a former friend and see former teacher when I'm here and just get to see think about seeing all the good there. It's great to see it. Okay. >> I'd also like to commend you for the video content, especially this generation in the 21st century. It's this

013video content that's going to engage the kids. It's it's the generation that is all locked into reals and and Tik Tok etc and pushing out that that video kind of thing. It's just it's so awful. I know I I know often times people say out of your comfort zone but it's important there. I get a little bit emotional when I talk about it and I said when I ran for school board that I I you know come up here and talk about my kids and their experience but it's difficult not to experience and to see that you'll carry that on today but it means a lot and even without I think it's important that we just take a And remember this dragon now carry on. All in favor? Here we go. Who is it? >>

014Oops. She's in there and now she's muted. Okay. Hi, this is Laura. Can you hear me? Okay. >> Yeah, you're good. >> Perfect. Thank you. Board of Education. Jason here. Laura Severson >> here. >> Greenley. Are there any discussion? Let's regular regular board, 206. Any discussion? All >> in favor? I get a motion to approve the minutes close session board of education. Any discussion? All favor? All right. >> Any discussion? >> Hi. >> Dixon. >> Hi. the approval of renewal of Illinois. >> Hi Dixon. Please clarify the highest on board. >> Okay. >> Any discussion? Severson resolution to approve tended budget. public display here today as >> any discussion hearing none. Hi Dixon. >> Hi. >> Mus. >> Hi. >> Request. >> First of all, I wanted to recognize Lindsay Oswald on her very welldeserved

015promotion to coordinator K12 instructional. and bring all of your talents and knowledge and experience that you were able to utilize at Hamilton spread that across. So, welcome congratulations. Next, I wanted to turn over to Vince who has a couple of updates on one of our summer high school projects really quick. So, one of the uh projects that we listed on that amended budget is the high school bathroom renovation project and get it out of that 1960s bathroom bring it up to JC. So we started this process working with our architects, the high school administration, really asking them what they wanted to see from a student safety standpoint, supervision standpoint. Um, but Scott actually had this idea in his head, really opening up these bathrooms, but at the same time giving those students privacy. Um, so

016in this rendering, if you walk into the high school front doors and look to your left, the um bottle fillers and drink wall is where this entrance is. So the project is going to be ripping that wall completely down, redoing the bathrooms entirely, creating these water. There will be pull back partition um single use restrooms. Then students will exit those and use the sinks on either side. Um we also decided to bring a couple uh board members and student board members discuss this project as well and get their feedback. Felt that was all very positive. We're really looking forward to this project and actually I just went out for bids and we should add that on our next to me I think that this is overd is really good way to still give privacy while

017But I think this is a pretty good replace. Thank you for finding this. will all be updated. >> We're going to do uh over the summer and then the rest of >> Yes. From a student perspective, I think being able to see down through the bathroom, it's going to be a completely different like it's going to feel much safer and be able to see what's going on. I would really like. >> Very good. A couple of other things. Um, so some of the ISBY staffers arrived today and spent the full day setting up their technical system in the heritage room. Big thanks to Craig and Tent uh facilities department and the entire ed center staff for helping us prepare for this very special visit. Um you should have paper copies of their schedules um at

018your tables. For tomorrow, the ISBY board has their meetings slated uh to begin in the afternoon. There are no district related events, but the ISBY meetings are certainly open to the public. So, anybody is welcome to attend those. For Wednesday, we are hosting school tours in the morning and then at approximately 10:30, the ISBY board meeting will begin in the Heritage Room. Our district highlight presentation is scheduled to begin after their public comment at approximately 10:45 a.m. Also, for those that are registered for the leadership lunch and have their meal pre-ordered, that is slated to begin in the diner around 12 p.m. And I do believe we have our full board uh attending as well as our student board of education members, which is very exciting. Um other than that the rest of their meetings

019on Wednesday afternoon are also open to the public apart from their closed sessions of course. Um this has been quite the project. You're prepared but we are honored to have been chosen and excited to share our many points of pride. All are welcome but uh be warned. Parking will once again be at a premium. So carpool, take the bus, whatever you can do. um our student board member position for next year after Miss Greenley graduates. My plan is to get the vacancy announcement digital application for next year's open student board of education seat out uh in the next couple of weeks before spring break. I'll provide additional details along the way, but that's our new timeline since we've been really focused preparing for the uh state board of education visit. This Friday, Dr. My privilege

020and I will be escorting two students that were selected to be a part of state superintendent Dr. Tony Sanders second annual student summit which is going to be held at University of Illinois Springfield. Students from all across the state will join to dig into critical issu is issues such as resource access, social emotional learning and mental health innovations and K12 that impact their learning journeys. look forward to the ISBY selected students of Remala and Aneli Kumar to report back to us and the board and to share their experiences at a future meeting. Um, as a reminder, the groundbreaking ceremony for Anaviveros Elementary School will be Wednesday, March 25th. So, it's coming up very soon at 2:20 p.m. was specifically selected for a Wednesday um early release so that the staff and students and families could

021participate. uh that will be at Lincoln Irving uh on the playground and then the gym um if there's inclement weather. Again, parking will be very limited. So, we will be offering a shuttle from Wharton parking lot. Those wishing to utilize the shuttle should be at Wharton ready to board the Metro Bus by 2:05 p.m. sharp. After the groundbreaking, we would like to hold a special board meeting if we are able to get a quorum of board members in attendance. We are thinking of moving right inside of Lincoln Irving if the groundbreaking is slated to be outside as I just the special meeting could begin at 3:30 and would be very brief. Um we would like to seek approval for the bid package related to the bathroom remodel project that Mr. Gav just spoke about. The

022extra lead time being able to get it approved at this meeting over waiting until April 13th puts the project on a better time. So, I'm not sure if um any of you were able to look at your calendars and if um you were all planning on attending the groundbreaking and you could have a little bit more time to step inside to do a very quick uh maybe show of hands planning to be have a quorum. So, if you're all right then we'll go ahead and get that agenda working. Again, it'll be just very brief the the bid project approval and then we might have a consent. That's just one item and we'll throw on any additional staffing approval since that is just one action item, but I anticipate that to be a very short meeting.

023So, thank you um allowing us to be able to do that on that day and thank you Audrey. Um and then lastly, spring break is in just two weeks and then fourth quarter begins. So I want to thank everyone for their hard work and dedication in getting us to that finish line. I know it's very hard work. Thank you to everyone, our principles, our teachers, um our amazing parents and students from education. It is a push till the end. Appreciate everybody's >> soccer and let's get started and then our big event high school to cry for heard to go see it and then classes are starting to thank you board of education.
