001on semiconductor and Bald School District are very closely related geographically because watts is actually in the shadow of the on manufacturing plant here on 52nd Street and McDowell and for many many years we've been together even back when it was motorola where the employees lived in our area and and and you know sent their kids to our schools on semiconductor with along with their employees contribute to a fund that goes through our foundation that supports mini grants for teachers on semiconductor employees judged the entries and so we've had many many teachers benefit from this relationship the beautiful thing about learning to grow is that it's the culmination of a year of the children's exploration in nature the grin allowed us to really expand on the lesson the story Alejandro's gift is a story about the

002interconnectedness of all living things then the children go and explore nature directly through the desert detectives tour at the Desert Botanical Gardens through investigation and critical inquiry then through the art activity they're being able to take the ideas that they've learned and apply them symbolically through their stories that they create and through the artwork that they create at the end of the tour without the generosity of the grant the children would have really been able to explore nature but not in the same way this is a solar cell you know how this is connecting to the wheel and the motor so when the motor gets atoms it spins we were able to get these passports of what the grant that you guys gave us and with it we write down all the places that we've

003been to a little summary and it's it's our passport to the amazing places to the in the world so looks like you learn a lot from this program which is awesome what are you gonna do next what's the next experiment you guys have planned you might need to take your science up another level and that's been my experience all the projects we've seen to date the students are embracing it and they're taking to the next level [Music] well I want to say on behalf of on semiconductor thank you guys for taking the funds that we gave to the school and utilizing them here in your garden I think it's gonna be a wonderful experience for you it'll be something you'll never forget and as we were walking out here I was mentioning that not only

004you're learning about plant life you're learning about how to write how to present how to do math because your guys are doing graphs and for myself when I was your age I didn't know if I wanted to be an engineer that's what I am by trade I went and got an engineering degree I work at a computer chip company but all of these experiences can help you mold and shape what you're going to do for your future so on semiconductor enjoys participating and funding these kind of projects we want to continue to do that and it's your thighs ears and excitement that make us come back and want to continue to do more [Music]
