are legal. All right. Thank you. We're going to start this meeting right now. We'll begin with the pledge of allegiance. And u I I will lead the pledge. >> I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation for you to be gone today. April, >> two months. >> Thank you for being here this this evening. I'd like to excuse Margaret Gabby. She had a family matter to attend to. She won't be with us today. Um this this past Christmas break, we had a tragedy hit our Blige High School, our student body, our entire school. And um one of our young men uh life was tragically taken in an accident, Nick Durham. And we'd like to take a few moments right now just

to remember him. Thank you. Um it's always tragic when young one is taken so tragically u way before their time. So thank you for that uh moment of silence. Uh Mr. Mr. Roloff, I'm going to turn this first portion of the agenda over to you for some awards, which is the best part of this meeting. >> Yeah, it's a kind of hard abrupt transition, but we definitely want to make sure and and recognize our people who are doing amazing things because we have so many amazing things happening on our campuses. So, we will start with Miss Butler and we will start with our students of the month. And so, Miss Butler will start with our elementary recognition. start and then I will hand it off to Mr. Johnson, his teacher. So, this is Raylando Henry

and there's my sticky note. Um, he is an exceptional student at Blige Elementary School. When you see him in the hallway, he looks you square in the eye and says good morning. He helps his classmates. He is he helps out in the in the lunchroom. So, I a couple months ago, his teacher actually nominated him and I've just been watching him over the the last couple months. And um I I have to tell you about this little little thing that I walked in on. So, he um his teacher had on the board um that there see if you can figure this out. Um there's 16 animals on this farm and there's 60 feet. So, there's chickens and cows. how many chickens and how many cows? And so I was like, "Oh gosh, I don't think

I even know how to figure this out." And within seconds, this guy had his paper raised, had the right answer. And I went like, there was there were kids that took a long time to come up with answers, and within seconds, he had it. So Ray Londo is a great student. We're grateful to have him at Blige Elementary. And we we're going to let his teacher say a few words. Oh, thanks. So, sorry. I always feel bad when I recognize Rolando and I have a lot of times because he's one of the few students I misjudged when I first met him and I've told him that before. I've even apologized for it. I feel like I'm a pretty good judge of character, but I think he walked in, he was an add-on at the last

second. You know how comfortable that is? Like, here comes the kid. Oh, he's in your class. And um I didn't have the best impression. Maybe I hadn't had enough coffee that day or maybe I had too much. But um I couldn't have been more wrong. Uh this guy is the complete package and way beyond what Mrs. Butler said. Uh he is um he's an athlete. He's an A student. He's extremely popular. He never gets any questions wrong. If I teach him four ways to multiply, he does all four. Um and he's universally liked. He's he's considered to be the nicest kid in my class. You combine all of those amazing things and it really is amazing. He's also an amazing big brother and a great son to this family back here and you guys know

he's so he's he's a real blessing to have in the house too. So he's the whole package and it's awesome to recognize him. Rolando, congratulations. Do you want to do you want to do a victory speech? No. All right. Thanks, man. Good job. >> [applause] >> And at the junior high, we want to recognize Mia Chase. Is Mia here? >> Oh, no. >> Well, we could say nice things about her anyway. Um, I want to read a email that was sent to me by one of her teachers. It says that Mia is an incredible young lady who possesses a quiet strength. She she's persistent, perseverant, and constantly pushes herself to grow and learn. For example, she's improved three grade levels in reading skills during her junior high time. U because of her hard work and

focus, me deserves to be recognized tonight for her tenacity and growth personally and academically. And I'm sorry she couldn't be here. [applause] That was me. Good evening. So, our student of the months at the high school is Mason Schmidt. He is not here tonight. He is working. Um, I told we told him that was a good excuse to not be here. Um, so I want to go ahead and read what his teachers wrote about him. Uh, the other day, Miss Penrod and I were were talking about some stuff and one of the teachers came in and said, "Hey, this kid needs to be a student of the month." Like, there's no ifs, ands, or buts about it. And then he went and found all of his teachers to make sure that he was right in

thinking this kid needs to be a student of the month. And so, um, this is what they wrote about. And Mason truly stands out as a leader and a role model in every classroom. Miss Cherry praises his respect and kindness and positive attitude, noting how he regularly helps his peers and sets an excellent example. Dr. Dr. Dick describes Mason as a genuine young man who consistently works hard, participates enthusiastically, and makes his class and makes class discussions better. Mr. Fergen, who was the one that came into the office, commends his leadership, and dedication, while Mr. Meadows highlights Mason's engagement, respectfulness, and willingness to help his classmates. Mason's character, work ethic, and positive influence make him an outstanding student and a joy to have in class. We're really proud to celebrate Mason's achievements and the incredible

impact he has on our school community. All right, next we have Coach Kluff and he's going to recognize our athlete of the month, which I think he knows a little bit about. >> Brax, could you come up here? So, our January athlete of the month is Braxluff. I don't know where he's from. But, um, here's your plaque. So, um, one of the things that's that's hard about being a coach's kid and being the athletic director's son is, um, you know, you're you're held to a higher standard and a higher expectation and and Bra succeeds in a lot of areas. He's a really good kid. I I wish I could say that he took after me, but I think he takes after his mom. U very, very proud of him. I love him a lot. One

of the things that uh, me and Mr. grace we've done that's been in the works for a long time. We came up with a concept that we are going to start presenting all of our athletes of a month with a challenge coin that we're going to give them. And um on on the coin it talks about um you know Blige tradition of champions. You know pride runs deep, honor stands firm and then um standing on the shoulders of giants. And what we're trying to do is create a sense of fraternity with all of our athletes. something to bridge the gap and create that bond throughout time. And the fact that they can hold this challenge coin and keep it on their person at all times. And there's a quote on here by Ella Willer Wilcox

that says, "There is no chance, no destiny, no faint that can circumvent, hurt, hinder, or control the firm resolve of a determined soul." And so the challenge of having this coin is if Mr. Rollolof was our first person to to get a challenge coin, he's got a couple days to have the the quote memorized. All right. But if you have a coin, you can go up to another honorary coin member and challenge them with the quote. And if they can't recite it, they have to give it up. So that's the concept to create that time. Brax is our first student at the high school that's going to be having this coin. You have to have it on your person at all times. And you need to understand what it means to to hold the coin

and be responsible to uphold that charge. So again, if we can just tell you the the goal of what we're trying to do with our athletes right now is give them purpose, a sense of self, and understand that their respons their responsibility within the school is to be accountable to all their classmates and to uphold this tradition that we have that we value so much here at the high school. Um, if if I could just tell him how much I love him and how grateful I am for him and the example he is to me, I'm just really grateful that he chose to come live with our family because he's always represented us with pride and very grateful for him. So, thank you very much. And I know that was a dad speaking, but as

a superintendent and a fan, um I I can, you know, Brax took on the quarterback job of our football team this year and pound-for-pound he was best quarterback in the in the 3A cuz uh you know, there were times sometimes he couldn't see over his line, but he was sure he was fighting till the very end of every play and to the end of the season. And he's doing pretty well in wrestling it sounds like now, too. So, we're very proud of him. That's not just a dad speaking. That's a whole district. So, all right, we're going to move on to the teacher of the month award. Um, is that you, Dr. Johnson? Come on up. So, this award goes to Brian Bloomstrand. He uh is the choir teacher at both the junior high and

the high school. who's one of our shared teachers and um I wanted to nominate him because we've had this conversation but I had the pleasure of subbing a couple of times in choir and um it was the highlight of my week those weeks um he's willing to take on as many kids as we give him doesn't the more the marrier um went in and taught and I I did a lesson where he had the kids in small groups like a four or five and they had to like learn a piece then sing it in front of everybody and the first thought that came in my mind and I'm going to take a page out of Mr. Closebook and get a little emotional. Um to see the kids that uh to take on that challenge and

face what junior high kids I mean that's like the hardest thing they ever do is to have to perform in front of their peers and to see just the the the joy they took in doing it and doing their best and how they encouraged each other um and cheer each other on. Um those are memories regardless of how good they sing and they sang well. um that's they're going to take that with them the rest of their lives and that ability to to do those things they didn't think they could do and to risk embarrassment and to to take risks to be able to grow. Um and then on top of that all the things you do with all of the concerts and everything else. I just want to make sure that you got recognized.

>> Thank you very much. [applause] >> Great choice, Mr. Bloomstread. You do >> need to get your picture with Linda. >> [laughter] >> and Dr. Johnson and Mr. Grace can jump in too since you guys share him. Um, but I just want to say, you know, he's uh a true professional. Uh, he's team player, great helper, and uh, you know, we're we're very fortunate to have him in the fine arts department. Now, if we can find a band teacher that is equally as passionate and amazing, we'll be happy. [snorts] All right. Now we're going to do our employee of the month. Is that Dr. Johnson again? And Miss But Miss Butler's going to do this one. >> Oh, her s her what do you call this? >> The plaque says elementary school even though it

says >> junior high up there. So, we're going to keep her as elementary in our hearts. So, recently, uh, we made a switch. Christine moved over to the junior high. She did it with a great heart. She was asked to do that and did it willingly, but reluctantly, like, she loves she loves the sixth grade team. She loves the kids. She does a great job working with them. and um she will always be part of our elementary staff, but she's doing great at the junior high and we appreciate her. Anything we've asked Christine to do, she stepped up. We have some kids that or one one student who needs to be picked up every morning from a van and she stepped up and she she was transportation for us. She she just does whatever we

need her to do. She helps out with lunch duties. So you're with us forever even though you're not with us. So elementary school. So thank you Christine. [applause] >> Thank you for all that you do Christine. And uh I think our volunteers of the month might be busy right now but um >> Coach Kloff we will uh talk about them. >> Yeah. I I can honestly tell you Luke and Britney Harris are all stars in our district and in our community. I wish every community had a Luke and Britney Harris. They they help with so many things. Um you know, Luke has actively helped uh with the football program the last three years. Britney and him also uh they coach girls basketball right now for us and they both helped us last year with track

and field. Uh phenomenal. Britney's an alumnist here from Blige High School um back in the She graduated in the early 2000s. What? 2002, Mike? Yeah. So, phenomenal athlete. Their kids are phenomenal kids. I don't know if we could say say enough about them. They don't talk very much. They're pretty quiet, but they're phenomenal kids. Um but we we just really feel Luke and Britney are those people that want to be actively involved and they never ask for anything in return. They don't take any money. Uh they won't take any stipens. if they do, they turn around and donate it right back to the athletic department, back to the district office, uh, and say, "Use it where you can. We don't need it. We're just happy to be here and happy to serve and help." Um,

our heart goes out to them. We love them for everything that they do. We're grateful for their service. And again, we we hope that they can be long-standing members of our community and that their kids come back here and raise their families here as well. So, great great people, Luke and Britney Harris. Thank you. I wish everybody could see the uh recognition of those special people in this district and I wish everybody in the district can live up to those expectations because we have that type of district and that quality of people here. It's hard to recognize one a month when there are a dozen that can fill that category. So, thank you. I I um it's really cool to sit up here and watch the parents of the kids that get honored. They're just

beaming with pride and and that's why kids succeed is because their parents love them and they encourage them and they help them in every way. So, I appreciate that. I appreciate the awards that we get. The next item on the agenda is uh item 1.1 and we have to elect a new governing board leadership. So, we're open to discussion right now for that if anybody would like to discuss campaign. >> Yeah. I mean, I think I think we've kind of >> we to the point we need a motion >> probably. Yeah. >> All right. So, we have a motion for the governing board president >> for Dave Merrill. >> For Dave. Yeah. >> Who's I've always second right here by Sylvian. I've always wondered, should I vote for myself or >> Sure. Okay. >> You

don't have to. >> All in favor? I have to say >> I [clears throat] All right. We uh need a vice president and my motion is uh Michael Gil. >> Second. >> Okay. Motion has been made by myself and seconded by Brit. Uh I wanted to say Britney because we just thinking about Bridget. Sorry, Bridget. Uh all in favor say I. >> I. That also appears to be unanimous. Now we uh we don't vote on this. We just appoint a secretary. And I think we need to appoint Mary again to represent us at Mary Ford as the secretary of the board. So, thank you Mary for serving in that. I don't know how we would function without you. I don't know how the school district can function without you. You're you're a valued valued employee.

All right. The next item on the agenda is um Mr. Rolloloff, do you want to explain this? This is just a a thing that we have to do every year at the beginning of the year. Um so that people are authorized to sign not everybody can sign and only specific people can and that's what this is right. >> Yeah. >> All right. So any questions about this item? I think it limits the expenditures to be signed by Courtney and by Mr. Rolloff. >> All right. Any questions? Any questions? All right. So I have a motion. Can I need a motion to accept item uh 1.2 >> on the agenda as explained? I'll move. >> I have a motion from Michael, second from Sylvia. All in favor say I. >> I. >> All opposed? None. Okay,

that too appears to be unanimous. Um, item 1.3, uh, this is to identify any conflicts of interest for the governing board members, uh, school board, uh, school administration, and staff districtwide. So, Margaret, uh, couldn't be here, but she told me she has no conflicts this year. Her husband has retired in the past. He provided optical help for the school district, but he he's retired. He's not doing that anymore. So, she's declared. Is there anybody else that needs to make a declaration of Michael? >> Yeah. I know. Um I'm on a board of a uh booster club. >> Uh the basketball booster club, youth basketball booster club. >> Um so, I probably needed to write that down as a conflict of interest possibly. >> [snorts] >> And I have two children at the high school that

are teachers and coaches. >> Feel free to boss them around. >> There's a there's a form you have. >> Thank you. >> There's a form you have to fill out and get back to Mary in that regard. >> Bridget, >> Nothing here. All right. So, we don't have to vote on that. That's just a statement of interest or conflict of interest. All right. Item 1.4, a directive of annual investment, reinvestment of all monies. Courtney, do you want to explain why we do this every year and what it amounts to? Yeah, this is just an annual requirement um to to allow the the Navajo County to work with our funds um and and we work directly with Navajo County on any of our our debt service and our bond um as well as uh expenditures and

revenues. They come through the bond through the county and so this is just allowing them to continue to manage that money. [snorts] >> Any questions in regarding to that? We have a motion then to accept item 1.4 as explained in the agenda. Have a motion. >> I move that we second. >> Motion from second from Mike. All in favor say I. >> I. That appears to be unanimous. Also item 1.5 governing board delegation and purchasing authority. This is similar to what we've already voted for. Courtney, do you want to further elaborate on that? Maybe >> just remember on this one. that. >> Okay. Yes. Um, so this is just authorizing um, uh, myself and Mr. Rolloloff to be able to work through the procurement process with any purchases that are made through the district. >>

Will there be any questions regarding that? All right. And we have a motion to accept item 1.5 as presented. >> Motion from Michael. >> Second from Sylvian. All in favor say I. >> I. Thank you. Okay. Okay, item 1.6. Now, this is this is to establish the uh a year's worth of meeting dates. As you look that over, not you know, I don't even know what I'm going to do tomorrow. So, I'm just going with what's on the calendar here. Any other conflicts that you would might want to change, vacations or whatever? >> Nothing. All right, >> Michael. >> October doesn't have a date on it. Okay. >> Oh, it's fine. I >> you know, I didn't notice. >> I don't want to I don't if I want to approve it without >> the 20th.

>> Okay. >> All right. Siana, you had a comment question. >> That was the same question. [laughter] >> No comment. So, can we have a motion to accept our calendar of board meetings for the next 12 months? >> Oh, that's right. We probably need an amended motion stating that October 20th would be our board meeting. >> All right. >> Second from Sylvia. All in favor say I. >> I. Thank you. Okay. The uh consent agenda um consent consent agenda has u things we might want to vote on independently. Uh is there anything after you've reviewed the agenda that you would like to take out and uh vote on independently. My heart sank when I saw that Rihanna was resigning. I thought, "Oh crap, the Kluffs are moving. We can't." But uh that's just their daughter

and she's probably anxious to move on. >> Yeah, she um she's going down to community college down at um Coochis Community College. She's going to >> Douglas >> Bisby >> become a pilot and we're sad to lose her because she was doing an amazing job with our our tech department and the warehouse running around. She was a real u big spark plug for our district. So, we're hoping someday she comes back and decides to join us. And if she's a pilot, I don't know. But we can be hopeful. >> Yeah. >> I I have a question that does not affect my voting really. I'm just curious. Have we done on 2.6? Have we done a a new teacher recruitment stipen before? >> So, yeah, that's that's built in to the title two budget and that's

something that carried over. I had a lot of questions on that, too. And so my I wasn't sure because some districts do a recruitment where if I go recruit someone then I get the stipen but it's it's more of a >> bonus >> a starter a starter to get them started in our district. Yeah. And then we give it in January. We make sure that they stay. So [laughter] >> it's a carrot. It's not a whole lot unfortunately. >> One time or is it built into their >> It's one time. Yeah. It's kind of a moving >> recruitment bonus to get them started and on their feet. >> Yeah. I looked at the amount there and I thought, man, I could spend that in a day on Amazon. So, I'm I'm disgusted of the way

public education is funded right now. They need a lot more money and it's not happening. Anyway, that's I'm not here to take a grand stand, but uh is there anything else that would like to be discussed in the consent agenda? If not, can we have a motion? >> Question about the um special ed revision. Is that just laws that came down on budgeting and where the money goes and that kind of thing or is it >> We have Miss Rothlessberger here, so she can speak to any special education questions. >> Yeah, it is. It's a federal part of IDEA and also state law. Um it applies toward the IEP transition plan. So specifically at the high school level and it changed two little components of it. So instead of 14 for the transition plan to

be created. Now it is from 9th grade to 16 whichever comes first. And then the other little component is we have the let parents know a year in advance the uh anticipated graduation date. >> Okay. Thanks. >> You're welcome. >> Any other questions? >> I that's the only thing I could Okay. >> figure out. >> Um comments. If not, can we have a motion to accept the consent agenda as presented? I'll move to the >> motion from Michael, second from Britney. Sorry, Bridget. I keep Britney's on my mind because there's a basketball game on. I'm going think I'm going go over to the basketball game a little bit. Sorry. All All in favor say I. >> I. >> That appears to be unanimous also. >> Okay. Item 3.1, recommendation to approve the district teacher principal

evaluation tool. So Roloff, do you want to talk about that a little bit? Absolutely. Um, you know, I'm a firm believer that if you see great schools, you'll see great teachers. And so what we want to do is we want to have an evaluation tool that really is a great way for our administrators to have educational conversations with teachers. And so we can make sure we have the best teachers around. And so we've had the strong evaluation tool and you know we've discussed it in admin team and our principles with a lot of the changeover that's happened this year. We decided that we want to continue using the strong evaluation tool. Um, Miss Rothus Burgger, the only um, and it's not a change, but the only thing is she's doing a great job in working

with adding on a writer for special ed compliance because special ed teachers have a little bit higher standard with getting their paperwork in, following idea like she was talking about, making sure we meet all those standards. But the decision was made this year to um, continue on with the teacher evaluation tool that our teachers are familiar with. And after looking at it and being in some evaluations with some of our administrators, I think it's a good tool that can help grow teachers. And so, um, I'd like to recommend the strong evaluation tool. And for the principles, uh, and administration tool, um, we're doing a lot of goal setting and working with and looking at areas we want to improve within our district. And so we decided to continue with that as well. But we're having

an ongoing conversation and we're using the leverage inside of that to increase our capacity admin as administrators and have good discussions. So that's really the point of an evaluation. It's not a punitive piece. We want to make sure that it's used to grow and set goals. And so these are we're going to continue on with the evaluation tools, but we'll continue to have discussions every year on what's best for our district. if we can do better. >> I had that one question and you answered it. Is there negative push back on this um from anybody? >> No, >> I mean not to name names or anything like that. I just wonder if there was negative push back thinking people thinking it's a punitive >> teachers are used to I mean you know you're going to

get evaluated at least once so it it doesn't >> so it's not a big deal. >> Yeah. And in my opinion, having new all new administrators at the site that are new to the site, we want to keep things as consistent as much as possible. Now, allow our administrators to build relationships with our our teachers and um and have it be something familiar that the teachers are familiar with so that they can have discussions. And if we change that moving forward, we want to definitely get the teachers input and administrators input and have a discussion about it. But we thought keeping some things constant this year would be would be a good thing since there has been a lot of change. >> Any other questions, Michael? >> I just I mean I'm I'm just hoping

just as a as a former teacher, I hope our administration team is in the classroom more often than than just for that observation time. And uh and I'm like I guess I'm sure they are, but I just think that needs to be said. Um, and then do we is it possible to get a copy emailed to us of the teacher? You mayor, you sent us the um administrative one just just so we kind of have know how the discuss what the discussion points are. That'd be awesome. >> Great. I think things even with the changes are going well. Last couple of years I had people complain to me. I've had no complaints. I've just had positive positive things coming back as a board member. Thank you. So, we need a motion for item 3.1 to

for the district to utilize the strong effectiveness perform performance evaluation system as a framework for teacher evaluations. >> I have a motion second from Sylviana. All in favor say I. >> I. That appears to be unanimous also. Okay. Item 3.2, two, a recommendation to approve out of state travel request for high school student council. Um, guess there we go. I was looking for you. >> I want to I want to hear how Disneyland is going to help our leadership development. >> Oh man. [gasps] Okay. Um, [clears throat] so this uh opportunity came to us in late December. So um we are using the same company World Strides as the same one as we buy our tickets through Senior Trip. Um, but it's called the 26th annual Southern I know it's California, but they did invite

us uh youth leadership day and it's um I don't know if you guys have heard of Chase Livingston, but he's going to be one of the speakers there and they um they go to a conference. It's in Disneyland and it's half a day and then um they get to enjoy the rest of their time. But it's to first of all bond our student council more. We have hopefully 10 students as of right now that are willing to go student paid and then um but they are able to do activities in the in the conference and then the um um they can become active and responsible citizens contributing positively to their student school and communities. So, it I have the flyer if you want it if you want to look over it or anything, but yeah.

And just >> I think that flyer was in our packet. >> Bond more. Okay, good. Yay. Okay. >> Reviewed it. >> Hopefully that's good enough. I don't know. >> I think a trip to Disneyland is good for leadership. If you can lead somebody through that crowd, >> you deserve something. >> Yeah, we're going to learn a lot. We're gonna >> Rachel. So, you said it's student funded, but how are they going to get there? >> Yes. So, we are planning right now we're planning on a carpool parent a couple parents car pooling down to Phoenix and then the um flights we're looking at from Santa from Phoenix to Santa Ana. Um the other possibility that we can do is booking the whole thing through World Strides, but it's like $300 more. So that's why we

were just going to do it individually. Um yeah, that's as of right now. So and buses are too much because that's what we usually do for senior trip, but it's not enough for for 10 students. Yeah, exactly. >> I do think you'll probably have to go to the transportation department for your transportation. Okay. >> Uh that takes the liability off of carpulling and puts it on the school. So might have to make arrangements there somehow. >> Okay. >> But other than that, I think it's a great idea. >> Thank you. >> This is Yeah. the first time I've seen this come up. So, I was like, "Oh, let's let's maybe try. I think let's talk to Grace and see." Yeah. >> Any other questions or comments? All right. So, we need approval for this trip

with the revision of the transportation department providing the transportation to and from the airport. So, I have a motion. >> I'll move to the travel amendment to transport. >> Correct. Have a second. Second. >> Second from Siliana. All in favor say I. >> I. >> All right. Thank you. Good luck. Okay. Next item on the agenda is another request for out of state travel for Robert Lefant. Um, is he here? I mean there. There you go. You want to explain what's going on here? This sounded like quite the trip. >> All right. Thank you. Uh I've since coming to Blige I've um taken over a few different positions uh for Eric Fogle and robotics and then uh Woolridge um in uh the Fab Lab and uh now in graphic design um for Peterson. And so

I've kind of wanted to get an engineering focus that encompasses a lot of this and uh so we benefited with the solar go-karts. If I was to try and just do robotics, the solar go-karts really don't fit under that. And we just uh um with uh some of you might know uh Grubner from Game and Fish. he was successful with um uh Woolridge uh Samsung Solve for tomorrow a few years back and so I said hey he's been meeting with us for after school for the 21st century grant and uh I said hey let's apply again and so he with his help uh we applied again and we're semi finalists um by going uh well we we need to create a video and they're going to give us $10,000 just to create the video. And

uh the proposal was uh basically search and rescue through drones um searching for people that are um maybe handicapped uh autism or dementia. And so um they encouraged us to be a part of this uh teacher academy. Um there's Adobe is in New York and they're gonna train us on Adobe Express. they want us to present the message professionally and so there's a certain uh direction they want us to go with that and then the next day is going to Samsung solve for tomorrow where they're going to have us apply some of the technical skills with the multimedia uh and base it on uh the hero's journey and uh so where the person gains knowledge expertise and then brings it back and I think we can apply some of these things with the with the

um our proposal. And so I think it's going to be worthwhile. I with my graphic design class um we're going to be using probably the Adobe Express. We're using Adobe already right now. And so um it'll be good for our students to be able to apply some of the skills that I'm going to be able to bring back uh for to um this situation. So, any questions on that? >> Sound like an awesome trip. I can't remember the dates. What? >> Uh the 15th and the 16th. Couple days. >> Yeah. >> Of this >> this weekend. >> Yeah, it was >> that's why I couldn't remember it. >> Yeah, they they uh they awarded it right before uh winter break. And so it was kind of a scramble to try and get all this. >>

No, it sounds exciting and encouraging. I love it. So, thank you. Yeah, they are giving us a uh $1,250 stipen um or reimbursement. Um so I'm paying for it and then I'm going to get reimbursed for it. >> Good. >> Awesome. >> Yeah. >> Well, question. >> No, I just know Rob has really improved the technology classes at at our school and I'm sure this will go further for helping our students and engineering sounds like a great direction to go. So, >> thanks Rob. >> Thank you. Thank you. >> Any questions, comments? Further, we have a motion to accept item 3.3 for this out of state travel request to I guess New York and New Jersey >> on this weekend. >> A motion. [laughter] >> Second. >> Bridget. All in favor say I. >> I.

Okay. Next item on the agenda is um superintendent's report. I'm going to turn some time over to Mr. Rolloff. >> Okay. Well, we've had a lot of exciting things happening. Uh right now we are in the middle of our head football coaching interview process. >> Curious how's that going? >> I keep getting asked about that. >> I can say we have some good candidates and so I'm excited uh about the future. I think um you know interview process is hard and then you get people on the ground and I think we have some good people. So um so I think we have some good choices to make coming up. Um, also I'm excited towards the end of the month now on the 28th, we're going to meet with the superintendent advisory committee. So, it's our

chance to do a little bit of outreach to our parents, our students, teachers, classified staff, and community members and just talk about some of our issues so we can especially for me being newer to the community, I want to make sure and I'm hearing different angles of the community. So, I'm excited for that. And one of the things that we're going to discuss is we're going to come up with a what we call a yellow jacket profile. And what we want to do is we want to share to the community what it means to be a yellow jacket. Um we're excited about that because you know one of the things I've heard a lot is how great Blige used to be. And once again if I never hear that again because we're good now. That's

that's that's the goal. Um, I don't want to I don't want to hear that anymore or at least for much longer. And one of the things that came through is actually State 48 did a profile of a graduate and I'm happy to share this and get this all to you guys. But a lot of this work they've done, we looked at it with our administrative team. We're doing a lot of work behind the scenes and you know before we see some of this out whether it's the evaluation tool or the yellow jacket profile and getting some more branding out there of who we are and and where we're going. Um, it's it's really good work. So, I'm excited to continue to work with that committee and and our team here to create that yellow jacket

profile so we can make sure the identity or the state and the community know what our identity is here at Blige and what we stand for because I think we have a lot of great things we stand for. But I think making that commitment and having our students here dayto day and a unified message, I think it'll be a really good thing for us. Uh, another thing, uh, Mary and Courtney and I went to coffee with the council so we can continue that partnership with the town. We have a lot of big things coming up and I wanted to say that the town was very happy that we are bringing back football camp. So, you guys made a lot of people happy when um that that brought a lot of excitement to the to the

group and they said that they're hearing great things happening um about our district. So, uh, you know, I I told our administrators, congratulations. I know there has been a lot of turnover and change this year, but, um, that's exciting that the word's out in the community, the good things are happening at Blige. So, I'll end on that note. I always look at a turnover as a refinement process and we're just getting refined into the very best. And so, appreciate all that's get gets done. Any other comments anybody' like to make? I think I can speak to the board and say thank you. Things have gone really well since school started. You know, I haven't had the phone ring every night with somebody complain or these nasty emails. We did get one email about graduation. >>

Our graduation at the same time as Schill's graduation same night. So, and one lady >> that we used to have that pretty well taken care of. I don't know. I don't know what happened. >> I don't I don't know what happened, but this lady didn't know what happened either and she was blaming me. [snorts] >> I think we did like a third one did a Thursday, one did a Friday or a Friday and a Saturday. I can't remember which. >> Yeah. And so I reached out to Joe Ver Xolo and so we'll we'll follow up on that conversation, see if there's some sort of staggering even within the day. I know we've already started making arrangements and I know when we looked at the calendar this year, we had trouble finding when we adopted the

calendar for next year, we had trouble finding other calendars out there. So, we got ours out there first. So, we're that we'll bring it up that, you know, we already want to start looking at it for next year. So, we don't know if they have a calendar adopted or not. So, not just for this year, but then we'll want to talk for future years since this year's calendar was adopted, you know, way back when. So, all right. Well, thank you. Um, next item on the agenda is a call to the public. If there's anybody that would like to address the board at this time, it's your privilege to do so. I'd like to have you keep your comments to about three or four minutes, not seed your time to anybody else, but uh step forward

and and do that going once, twice, three times. Thank you. Okay. Uh next announce the only other item is announced when our regularly scheduled board meeting for next month is and that'll be February 10th at 5:00 at this location. So I need a motion to adjourn right now. >> Have a motion from Mike. Have a second from Sylviana. All in favor of adjournment say I. >> I. This uh meeting's officially adjourned.
