001we'd like to call this meeting into order and we'll begin with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Chuck Waldo aliance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation God indivisible with libery and justice for all all right we don't have a lot of fluff to this agenda today there items uh 2.1 through 2.6 are the items in the consent agenda um anybody have any questions about that would like to remove an item in that to uh vote on independently or can we have a motion to accept the consent agenda as submitted so moved a motion of second by Chuck all in favor say I I I i' like to excuse today Diana Butler who's ill and uh Jennifer Brimhall who is somewhere in the
002wilderness in northern Idaho right now so we will excuse them at this time the next item on the agenda is uh is the item regarding the uh taxation for the adjacent ways fund um we've had a public hearing on that at 4:30 uh are there any other questions that any member of the board would like to bring up at that time Dave before we go there because this isn't is this on the consent we didn't do that I don't think so we don't believe we did yeah we did yeah we did okay yeah motion motion by Margaret and second by Chuck sorry we are moving pretty fast we were moving pretty fast we're excited this this is a short agenda tonight but we're going to make it as long as we can for all the
003folks that came all right the next item is as stated about the truth and Taxation increase in the primary property tax for the adjacent ways fund which has to do with the roundabout at the elementary school so any questions or comments about that the public hearing was earlier today and that was discussed in detail right now this has to have a roll call vote so I'll ask individually when we do can we have a motion to accept the um increase in the primary property tax as discussed item 3.1 on the agenda have motion from Chuck I'll second all in favor oh never mind we have to have a roll call or Chuck Waldo I Margaret I I David Merill is an I that passed okay item 3 point U two is to pass the revised
004fiscal budget for the Year 2005 there again we had a hearing on that at 4:45 I mean 4 yeah 4:45 and uh are there any questions or comments that anybody would like to make in regard to that item on the agenda if not can I have a motion to accept the proposed budget for 2025 I have a motion from Chuck a second from Margaret all in favor as also passed okay item 3.3 is a recommendation to proh a prohibit permit we don't want to prohibit this permit the out of state travel for the high school girls soccer team and I see we have Coach is it how do you say it ricken biker Reichenbach well okay Maya uh Maya coach Maya if you'd like to tell us some of the details in that um the
005tournament is in gal New Mexico and it's hosted by reoboth Christian Schools um the reason I wanted to look into this tournament was to save not only the school money but the uh Club of girls soccer money uh there's only three to four tourn T in Arizona offered for girls soccer and the other two are uh quite more expensive than this one uh the tournament fee of the Arizona tournament we're looking at was $600 and 4 and a half hours away versus this uh New Mexico tournament which is a tournament fee of $280 and it was only 2 and 1 half hours away we would also be saving money uh and hotel fees as well uh the other tournaments we were looking at we'd have to travel farther away from from the tournament location to
006find a hotel um the tournament in New Mexico we could stay on site at school dorms that are only about 40 bucks a night and have the option to have us have four to five girls in a room have a kitchen have access to us so we could cook for the girls and save money and food and stuff as well so the entire goal of going to this tournament versus staying in state is to help the team save money as well as the school save money on trans Transportation thank you thank you I I'm sure everybody's really excited to go to Gallup it's the game the place yeah it's the game not the place I I just have one question about your uh adult student ratio how how many adults are you going to have
007per student so we're looking at a varsity roster of around 20 kids and we have three coaches so it's uh greater than 1 to 10 it's like 1 to five is closer can I do math yeah a little higher than that 1 to S probably I don't teach math at the high school well if you keep them really busy and tired they won't cause any trouble right yes girls never cause problems sure I don't know about that but sure that's just a fact everybody knows that so I I don't have any further questions board anybody have a question no sounds good all right well thank you so we have a recommendation to approve the out of state travel for the girls soccer team to go to Gall New Mexico August 29th through the 31st item
0083.3 as explained I have a motion motion for Margaret second by Chuck all in favor that also passed K we pardon good luck yeah good luck it won't be hot in Gallop either it might rain you know I'd rather hot yeah okay uh item 3.4 recommendation to approve the out ofate travel for the high school football team to Huntington Beach I see a new coach here coach hson I'd like you to get up and introduce everybody that's here and uh what their role is and how are they going to help you in California they have to stand up bring them up yeah we're streaming so you have to have a mic get used to it can you hear me can hear you bring them up so we can see them and hear their names and
009people can see them thisby you our bber soccer's little kid just do it just because of all those sweet treats we'll bring them okay Coach CL come on this is our new athletic director Dustin kff he will Coach special teams for me I've known him for a long time coach SAR is a Community member um works for the FDA um and helps with great training and and conditioning and just overall needs and Necessities that that we need um Eric Cox obviously with the white M Physical Therapy um I believe I was his first patient 30 27 28 years ago um Alex Stans will be teaching um special ed at the high school and is our offensive coordinator and obviously graduate of BL and a gerardi on the other side of the ste's name so and
010all these guys will be going to California with me we have additional coaches going too or yes okay yes so I go ahead and set up you guys did did they all have their background checks yes all your paperwork I'm just kidding yes I'm just kidding okay um I don't really have any questions anybody have any questions regarding this I don't know if you want to say anything we'd love to hear you you know it's it's it's a long Tradition at blidge um to go to California camp and um I'm excited I know the boys are excited we're going to do our very very best to stay out of the water we going to limit free time we're going to try to incorporate a trip to USC to their football facilities we're going to try
011to incorporate a trip to UCLA to see their football facilities Chuck you remember that the California Camp a lot of times in the morning there's a lot of free time on the beach we're going to try to minimize that and make it more structured um so that we can keep kids away from the water as much as possible well if I make make it clear there will be no swimming so when coach says they try he's really meaning he will keep them out of the water because we're no longer swimming on any kind of a bluid activities I just wanted to be clear correct well you realize that going to USC from Huntington Beach you're going to be fighting a lot of heavy traffic and quite a drive it's you know about an hour about
012an hour drive yeah but in the best of situations yes so I'd like to see poly Pavilion too that's a neat a neat Place yeah I think the kids will really enjoy that what's that I think they'll really enjoy that yes yes and then Coach K set up a thing where's it where's it at Laguna Beach a th000 steps and so we have to get permits to that that will be an activity that will take you know a warning warning activity away from from just being at the staring at the water but there's so much to do so much to see and shops different things so I also was concerned about the finance is it covered I mean is yeah so the the transportation is is roughly anywhere from 105,000 to 13,000 um so we
013got that covered and then the meals and everything the booster club we have a one thing I've done since I've got the job is we created a full 501c3 uh Glenn cook is our president right Cox is our vice president um sylvana steans is our secretary my mother and R gerardi are the treasurers and so that's set up and so we've raised a significant amount um we're still fundraising um so the school really doesn't have to pay for anything they they'll provide the bus for us we're pay them for the mileage and for the upkeep of bus so it's a it's a good deal I noticed there was a fee to individual players yeah so $350 per player are there are there kids that haven't been able to come up with that money that need
014scholarship somehow from somebody or somewhere yes the booster club is isover okay to help with that um I know scooter and Jim your son have reached out Frank Hogan just donated 750 bucks so there's past alumni that are eager to take care of some of the great yeah great any other questions what oops what are some of the things you've done to raise money there was there was a little bit of money left in in a in an account I don't know what you want to call it some type of booster account it wasn't a 501c3 um so there was money there um we have sold the gold cards that was a big F raised a significant amount and then we are currently um doing a text message type fundraiser where you're basically asking for
015money and so that's bringing a significant about okay thank you Eric coach homeron appreciate it you wouldn't want to introduce some of these players that came in some of these Future Stars so we have Jared Cox Jared Cox stand up Eric's boy uh Tren tricky both of those are are Juniors and then I have my my lone senior here oh James is here too so two seniors here so thanks for coming boys yeah yeah they're uh handsome boys we're lucky to have them so any questions or comments further not can we have a motion to AC accept item 3.4 the approval I mean to request for the approval to the out of State High School football camp in Huntington Beach I have a motion from Chuck second from marbert all in favor that also has
016passed okay next item on the agenda is uh superintendent report Dr Wright we're going to turn the time over to you thank you um as a part of the report I also want to mention Kimberly brought it to my attention that the food servic has served over 70 ,000 meals so far this summer this summer this summer and they're not done they'll serve throughout the rest of July so that's an aound astounding number of of meals really and that shows that there's definitely a need and we're making a difference so we appreciate your support on that program it's meaningful it helps families and kids 70,000 it's a lot of sandwiches the next is uh a couple of the events that we have coming up we'll have a an orientation for a new teacher on the
01729th of July and that's going to provide a robust orientation from as they say the EAS from Soup To Nuts everything that has to either to do with bluid policy or professional expectations legal requirements that we have to make sure that people understand mandatory reporting the details of supervision St and student supervision generally um items like how do we prevent hazing all of that will be prevented will be presented rather at the new teacher we'll also have on the 24th we have the new coaches and sponsors and existing coaches and sponsors that include that includes Fine Arts for the uh training hazing prevention heat and I guess it's heat ill illness and prevention of heat illness concussions locker room supervision all of these types of things that the coaches need to have and that's a
018mandatory requirement for all sponsors coach is extracurricular activities on the 29th excuse me the 30th all staff will have another orientation so the new teachers have 29th and the 30th and some might have on the 24th if they're helping out with coaching and we'll do the same thing we want to make sure that a few of the new elements that have been introduced within the last 12 months one is electronic correspondence with students in no case will a coach tutor staff member employee administrator Comm communicate directly with a student one to one without using the approved application or including another administrator teacher or the parent so we are really creating structure around that uh simply put every year in the state in public and private and Charter Schools bad thing happen when teachers are communicating
019indirectly fostering relationships with kids so it's protect our teachers and to protect the students that'll be a major change we also are not going to be using any kind of short-term rentals like airbnbs for any programs it doesn't matter if it's Athletics or nonathletic we're not using short-term rentals any longer they present a number of risks to our students and also those that are there trying to supervise so we're frankly limiting our our outof state travel to academic related types things or team related type events and we're making sure that the supervision is there and that people understand what that means what does supervision look like with an emphasis on locker rooms and areas where students participate in theater where they're generally large groups of kids that may be left unattended or not as supervised
020as we'd like so we're going to follow all of that we have a back to school night will be on the 31st for the high school and the junior high so it's going to rain on the 31st for sure it'll also rain the next night if you miss the first rain on the 1st of August Elementary School our open house will be then the second is our BR annual event 9:00 a. we'll notify a possible corm any the board that wants to attend you're more than welcome to do that it's always a fun event and the first day of school is August 5th so that gives you a little bit of the next three weeks that doesn't cover all of it but those are some of the main things U we'll notice on all the
021orientations a possible cor to permit the board to come in if you just want to come in and observe you're more than welcome to do that and then we'll uh if there are any other items that the relate into this report that I could share with the board I'm more than willing to do so that's exciting thank you I I think so it's a busy time of year and it's here already yeah it is all right next item on the agenda is a call to the public and we would invite anybody that would like to address the board to do so at this time like to liit your time to about 3 minutes and not seed that time to anybody else like you just state your name where you live so that you might uh
022be entered into the public record going once before you go there Mr I left uh Mr President I left one critical element off I I miss I didn't see it on my notes it's there bolded for me if you recall last two board meetings there have been some concerns over the referral of students needing counseling services or other type of psychological supports we don't provide referrals or counselors are not qualified to do that nor do we have the authority to do that however we've been working with a provider that is willing to help the students receive the services they need and the process is simple if we if any of the counselors or it's brought to our attention that there's some need for support with these students we'll contact the parents and will say to
023the parents these services are available to you and your child if you should choose to use them if you feel you need them and you can do that without expense that provides the same impact as a counselor writing in a referral without breaking any law or creating any unnecessary angst so we we're essentially doing what we were asked to do except for we're not providing that referral but the services are still going to be provided and I think that was the most important element these kids need help well we have an Avenue for them to get it we can't guarantee them that they're going to go to a certain provider but we can guarantee them support if they follow the process so none of this will be done without the parents permission knowledge and cooperation
024we will not seek services for anything without the parents consent any questions on that okay well then we'll move forward with systems in place it will be a practice there's no need for a policy but the practice will simply be if it comes to our knowledge that how from whatever is area that looks like the student needs additional supports we'll reach out to the parents provide that information and that's where it'll stop we'll continue to provide change point or any other provider access without charge to an area where they can counsel students um outside of the classroom classroom access will not be allowed it's not allowed by furpa we won't break that rule and that's not frankly open to discussion um nor is the referral but we do feel the need to help or can
025and I believe we have so thank you for your patience thank you for your work appreciate that okay call the public still open going twice third time guess no one would like to address the board the next regularly scheduled board meeting will be August 13th at 5:00 pm at this location what we need now is a motion to adjourn I have a motion from Chuck I'll second the motion my
