BOE Member, Rodrigo Gutierrez

001Hello, my name is Rodrigo Gutierrez. I am originally from Mexico, but I am a resident here in Glendale Heights. I've been living here over 10 years now, uh, with my wife and three children. I came to the United States when I was in fourth grade, uh, luckily because of my parents', uh, my dad's job at that time, um, and have been a resident of the Chicago West suburbs for really all my life. Um, and so when my children went to school here at Black Hawk Elementary, um, and I saw the opening for being a board member, I decided to participate and, and, uh, go for the position. Ultimately, uh, my inspiration, my motivation behind all of this is my children. I think as a parent, uh, we're always looking after the best possible opportunities and, and guidance for our children. And so having, uh, two, my oldest and my middle one in school now, uh, is really my driving factor. And being a part of the board member, uh, allows me to provide guidance, uh, to our staff, to our, uh, district, and have a broader effect, not just to my children, but to the whole community as a whole. And so that, that's been one of my biggest drivers, um, since I joined.
