regular board meeting call this meeting order the regular meeting of Mohamad Seymour board of education is called order it is 7 o' Monday October 16th at this time I'd like to remind every please sign in silence or cell phones I would also like to remind our visitors that in order to facilitate effective meeting we ask those that wish any comments to the board read visit highl found on the table right outside the door and complete the attached public participation form and bring those to Jody public participation is only allowed during public participation portions of the meeting other than those times board meetings are not interactive with J could we have call M Murray Jordan here roock here mome yes banister here Lam here and I failed to say that I will be running the meeting
tonight because Mr Mur can not be here and tonight we have some guests from our Atlas program that are going to lead us in the pledge thank you guys so the board is excited to welcome Tracy Patterson and our special guest from The Atlas program tonight thank you guys for being here thank you for having us um so part of what we do is we run a well we call it a barbery it's B we call it bul barbery and we make dog trads um and so the boys have some dog traits that we're going to pass out to the board tonight so you guys can if you don't have any Furry Friends of your own you can give them to friends and and um see if you're little four-legged friends like these score May
treats that these kids make every month so you want to Aiden go ahead and we're GNA go inside of here you help him yeah got one so did you make these they make them y you're gonna learn all about it okay so come in here Preston can you rob thank you Preston that okay thank you you want to give him a bag of treats I think oh yeah right here instrument thank you if he wants one he probably one thank very much okay Mr thanks how are you buddy good thank you very much really appreciate it thank you very much apprciate thanks for being here like your glasses want to stand here with me we talk about it looks have a few extras for sale if anybody wants okay do you boys want to see
it up here with me while we talk about at they might have questions for you about what you do and things like that the green one um I okay why you on this side in case anybody has any questions and aan you can yeah this might be a good face either way it's good either way all right so what is atlas so our program is um I won't read this to you but we our 18 to 22 post High School transition program and we teach a lot of function skills we teach we do community outings we do vocational skills we do functional life skills everything they're going to need when they are all the way an adult and they have to move on from school right so hopefully we're getting them ready for that next
chapter and we are located in the Care Center so here are a few of the things we do uh vocational skills we we hope to maintain meaningful obtain meaningful employment in the community they learn Independent Living skills they cook their own lunches they buy their own groceries make their own menus right they pick out what they want to put on the menu every week and make a grocery list go to the store and buy all the stuff so then they come back and cook for lunch almost every day we go out sometimes um and then social Leisure we enjoy our social time with peers we go different places and do different things that um that are fun like bowling and other field trips so here's some pictures of some of the work they do um
Salt and Light is a big one for us they are a good starting point they learn valuable skills there that they can transfer to other places in the community when they get another job um we have someone working in a preschool right now she is sick today so she couldn't be here but um that's a fun job um and we work a lot in Mom's pantry if you guys know about Mom's Pantry out in the Care Center so here are some photos from things we do in the community um we visit campus sometimes we go out to lunch a lot we go grocery shopping we went to the pumpkin patch last year that was a popular one um and all these skills are you know important for when you're an an adult you know and
um even eating out there's a lot of skills to be gained there they all know how to leave a pretty good tip okay so now we'll get to the barkery this is in our kitchen at Atlas um some of you have visited us there I've seen some of your faces there um and this teaches them a lot of valuable skill vocational skills budgeting marketing making and delivering the dog treats um and they we come up with a seasonal treat flavor every month and teachers and other board members have subscribed to our treat of the month club so we make them all and then we go deliver them um once they're made and they have learned that now we have a bunch of money in the bank and so since it's the end of the quarter
we're taking a field trip and our our dog treat sales are paying for the the whole thing so we can go if the weather holds out we're going to go to the zoo and to krackles if it's rainy we're probably going to go bowling and pizza but either way they have worked so hard for this so it's finally starting to pay off right last year we kind of slaved away and we didn't see a lot of profit so it's starting to pay off like all you know small businesses it takes a while sometimes so here they are um we pull up Pinterest and we just kind of look at like well what you know it's October what should we do and so this month we did pumpkin treats and they're even pumpkin shaped so that's
you and and aen Y and so okay so here's here's how the teachers find out they made a flyer so we made a flyer we sat down and made a flyer one day and um we sent it out to the emails and that's actually a link in there that they can click to to get to our website and teachers love these dog treats and so do their dogs I guess um this is our website and uh sure maybe yeah you could click on it that'd be cool I think you can click on check out what I that check got our website should got our website so there's our website and we made this ourselves too we got a crash course on how to make a Google website it wasn't very hard um and it just
talks about our treat of the month club and then there's a you can click on a link that takes you to the order form and it's pretty simple then I get the order and we bring you treats it's it's pretty easy the other thing about having you know this side hustle that earns US money that we can go do fun things with is that you know also to some sometimes when with an adult with disabilities it can be difficult to find meaningful employment in the community and sometimes if they have the mind of an entrepreneur you know this is teaching them how to run a business if if that's their thing and if that's what they want to do they'll have a little experience doing that too and I think that's important um so here's
some pictures of them making the treats we have a taste test we have one that likes a taste test of some sometimes [Laughter] heyy you're all on there all you guys are on there so this is our little our little Bakery out at Atlas it it takes at least one full day to get all of the treats made for the monthly um Christmas is going to be hey probably a little crazy this year it is you did you not know we were taking your picture no okay so this is the boys delivering the treats which was just a couple maybe last week yes yeah there you guys are delivering the there you are delivering the treat in he's like I know okay and then we have some um happy customers here we have some we
get emails every so often people will send us pictures of their dogs enjoying the treats and the kids really love getting those they love to see is that the only page of those yeah maybe yeah and then these are some things we we've been able to do with our profits we have a class pet her name is Lola and she is not she is can be expensive at times she she is she's she's a diva so she gets Halloween costumes and things like that um we go on field trips there's you again on a field trip he I see it um we've bought games and fidgets for the classroom we bought a little Sweeper for our classroom there's Cara and we have pizza parties usually the day of making dog treats our kitchen is destroyed
if you guys have ever done like Christmas cookies and you know you cannot cook you cannot make dinner that day what so we and we did get Uno yes and we do get pizzas on the day we're making treats it it asses the pain a little bit of all the roling sweating so yeah so that's what we have done so far with our with our profits I think that too and pizza anybody have any questions for us I do um I like to purchase some or whatever seem to be holding on to a few we have some extras for sale tonight yes I think I don't think we're quite ready to expand in the whole entire Community but when we do have extra treats we usually put an email out that we have extra treats
are you going to keep this industry you know as you guys graduate this going to be so something that you're going to continue to do I think yeah as long as there are students at Atlas that we'll be running the barkery yeah awesome yeah thank you okay but if you guys have any questions for I do okay you said that you cook during the weeks what's your favorite thing to cook what's your favorite fav thing to cook no or eat salad is it pizza what's your favorite lunch that we make Kristen tacos tacos the walking tacos that's what you always pick walking tacos it's a good one have you ever tasted cookies Preston is not usually the one who tastes the dog trees no we don't they just they smell really good when they're baking
it smells like you you're making peanut butter cookies or something but there's no sugar in them so they don't really taste like peanut butter cookies at all and they usually have beef broth in them so question how many students do we typically have this year my case load is four that's small since I've started I've had either five or six yeah I thought I thought six or eight was how many uh individual packages do you guys do a them um right now I think we have 20 26 subscriptions right now so we do 26 bags and we typically we put one and a half to two dozen depending on the size of the cookie cutter in each bag wow and then um we sell those for if it's like per bag we charge $7 but
if it's the whole year so like if you sign up in September for the whole school year it's like I think we charge $60 is that what yeah and how often do you get a bag every month once a month yep and they're always like seasonally themed like this yes we have popet yeah oh I think you got actually oh it's okay I think you got carrot cake even better yeah if you want to swap it for a pumpkin more than may not make it home to the again there's no sugar [Laughter] in so oh s's bringing you the pumpkin go go down that's perfect okay all right anything else for us have fun hopefully you get to go to crackles too I know the chicken car yes we we really want to go I
hope we can go if not we always it's the best lemon lemon with sprinkles not Miss T Miss tone not here oh yeah she's not here but you are we'll see her tomorrow than go right ahead got [Music] it a great program thank you guys for here okay next up number five on the is some recognitions yes um Max mome has been recognized by the Illinois Association of school boards for his participation in a number of professional development leadership activities during his Service as a Schoolboard member the iasb recognizes Schoolboard members who show a dedication and desire to learn more about local school governance adding to their leadership skills knowledge of state and National Education issues and commitment to serving in Trust of their community and their students because of Mr mom's ongoing commitment to

saw that there's some Surplus items in there and that is one thing that um from time to time occurs that we do have some Surplus I appreciate Mr fiser going through to organize the uh room at the the uh junior high and will utilize the old uniforms that are out of out of um commission um to utilize those in the the PBIS store so that students can purchase those with their Bulldogs awesome okay we'll call Jody bister yes Rock yes Jordan yes McMurray s yes M yes yes okay we have a new hire to introduce tonight Dr Lee uh yes um I asked um Mr Dwayne northr um to attend this evening uh Dwayne started last Tuesday as our director dor of of building or director of Maintenance and have hit the ground running um
many of you know Dwayne he spent the last approximately 20 years in the coroner's office for Champagne County uh oversaw some building projects there uh managed a budget of of just shy of a million dollars and manag several people um over the years as an elected official in that office prior to that um Dwayne was involved in the construction industry uh as well as as some farming so um through our process um Dwayne was heads and shoulders U our our unanimous candidate and uh he accepted the position and we are thankful that he did and we're excited to have him on our team and uh certainly welcome him uh to the school district he's also his wife has come with him tonight Mrs Christine um so we we uh welcome welcome Dwayne and um look
forward to having you Dwayne thank you happy to have you thank you happy to be here and I will say the light going out is duly noted we'll get thanks for being here tonight Dwayne okay donations Dr Le I have two donations to present this month one from Russell Weber um in the AM of $500 to the band activity fund and another one from an anonymous donor to Mom's Pantry in the amount of $500 for a total of $1,000 this month again um just thankful for the generosity that this community shows on on a monthly basis yeah thank you very much for those donations do I have a motion to approve the thank you Jeff second Kyle thank you any further discussion roll call vote s yes bister yes do yes M yes McMurray Jordan
yes L yes okay time for communication is there anyone here from the PTO msea and I have the foundation report here the date has been finalized for the next Foundation bash so save the date for Friday April 5th it'll be at Carman and champagne again it's always a good time and great company helping raise money for the foundation who in turn gets that money back into our school to to supplement all things or anything that needs assistance great program to have and we're looking forward to the next bat also the MF has funded grants to teachers in our district for over two decades with the purpose of offering ing financial support towards enriching and challenging opportunities in the classroom these grants are open to all disciplines and across all grade levels the grants are intended
to supplement needs in all curricular areas not focusing on any one specific area MF Grant applications are being accepted now through Tuesday November 12th at noon an email should have gone out this morning and I believe it did um with all the information you would need to put out to all staff teachers that are eligible receive a grant so get those applications turned in and take advantage of this great program okay visitors we have Eric Henderson all right you have five minutes on the clock you know the drill sir let's go it say you're supposed to do I'm Eric Hendrickson and have attended these meetings for over two years now I am displeased in over the discounting of my com discounting of my Common Sense request to this board I had a root canal perform
today and just over a week ago I lost Jeff cver my good teammate on the 1988 Olympic team just over a week ago to Suicide suffice to say I'm not in the perkiest of moods either physically or emotionally to even one to ATT tonight um this is a tough one comes to you it's Jordan rock is the grandson of of the pastor that confirmed Me In St John's Lutheran Church some 51 years ago and he's also been an assistant pastor uh in Manuel and Osman until some health issues and cognitive issues and so forth uh it resulted in resignation as our assistant pastor and I don't know that he'd be pleased with you Jordan if you know if he was able to process what happened I put several phone calls to this uh young New
School Board member with the highest hopes of um you know at his job you know there's no other phone number and you know he's he's on billboards around town his running career and so forth and I hate to say it he finally returned one I mean I was glad he did um correct that um he was insolent and arrogant and uh he told me he would never take another phone call from me and I was uh of course my best behavior and he said he would only communicate to me by email so that was uh it's kind of amazing because he invokes his athletic achievements as a runner on his billboard advertising which I you know you got it sell it you know surely tended to appeal to Fitness Enthusiast as you know as potential
customers so I don't figure that so well I don't know if that's good comportment for a school board member I think not um this board you know seems or prevents itself as caring about the students and parents of the school district I I I I I have problems with that and it's not a rush to judgement um perhaps I get off I get off my lazy derrier and list some help from my friends in the media both local and National I mean the good people of M Muhammad should equally be disappointed you know and and in some cases disgusting I'm not sure that the best interest of your children or your family's finances are at heart and I think I've got that done in another two minutes that's a true spread thank you for listening
all right Mark toson this book The One World Schoolhouse I had mentioned it a while back uh South Khan wrote the book and he's on the program with funding from Bill Gates and he's they're looking at the future says there's no brick and mortar in the future we can save so much money and reach everybody in the world with these laptops and there's no reason to spend the money on brick and mortar so this is in the process when you start making decisions what the future holds as far as what the future holds I'd also say I don't know if you're paying attention but there's been a major Invasion going on in this country right now has been for quite some time and I think the governor just said he's given this County a quarter
billion dollars to pay for those Invaders they're going to be here in this community I would highly suggest you really start thinking of Safety and Security for this school on that vein now I come up here and I'm very sorry that I've offended you in the past I watched last two meetings a couple times and I watched you guys talk for almost 40 minutes about limiting the time at this uh Podium from five minutes to three now you guys have only been here for four meetings I believe in here I spoke three times know this I spoke four times he spoke three times and a woman spoke once for a total I think of 40 minutes of a possible four hours and you want to limit my discussion because I feel it's very if you
paid attention to what you guys had to say I'm the big mean guy I'm the guy who makes you upset and you want to limit my speech I ran into Kenny earlier and I said and he saidwell you can get what you need done in 3 minutes if you're concise I said if I had a bucket here and I started filling it with water with the hose at the three minute Mark I turn it off if you let me go to Five you know what I got 40% more water in that bucket I can talk about more things that matter I'm a very serious individual my eyes are wide open to what's going on in the world it's bad we found out lindsy Hall and Dr rumel had met with Professor Khan on the UI
campus and brought CRT program into this school and they said they didn't I walk around I see the posters on the doors and say this is a safe room I'd like to think the school was a safe space you know what are you teaching the kids this is a prison but the room is safe you know brainwashing is a very subtle thing these young and impressionable minds are very very impressionable to put it at the least they want to be good they want to make their Mark you all you work with kids you know how they are they're beautiful things and you mold their minds the question is how do you mold them and I know enough about curriculum because Bill a is top guy in curriculum studies in the United States is a avowed
communist and he brought all his people up the ladder with him and now it's inundates education public education throughout this country and the world so I know enough to be very fearful for what's gone down and I also know enough about what's coming we're seeing this sexualization of children the pedophilia is off the oh wa Governor pritsker just said if you ban any books the state will not give you money well we'd like to see the books over at the public library so that it was exposed so the curriculum could be experienced by all the stakeholders in essence you're Banning books are they going to cut you off no they won't because he's talking about books that are focused on sex because that's what's hitting the the papers Nationwide when you get down well it's
not H papers it's hitting the internet but they he says you cannot ban those disgusting vile filthy books he wants them in the kid's hands I told you about him and his cousin who had a is a transvest right now she had a the whole change deal pritzkers are heavily financed in that and they're having you guys subtly bring it to Bear because there's a lot of money in it but what happens to those kid kids is just unbelievable unbelievable so when it comes to their minds it's like that inv they're being invaded they're being invaded and you better stop it now before it's too late that's why I'm here I'm suggesting you really look at curriculum and when you start to vote me from or this Podium from five minutes to three minutes that's
censorship and if you went to and got a class on transparency Max I just heard that transparency this is transparency don't cut us back to three minutes that would be just as telling as any okay and thank you and I sorry if I offended you when I questioned you about friter that was not the intent you did me but thank you for saying so okay because I do believe when I come up here I have things that are important and pertinent okay now it's time for reports uh building reports were included in your board packet and now we can have board communication je would you like to start us off sure um we looked at the beginning of the year we had over 50% um of our students involved on an extracurricular activities uh just
received emails about that so many of our programs are having and I that's wonderful um but I think it goes further than that it's teaching our our children about how to have balance in life and it's not just those skills um in their field of choice that they're having success in but also balancing their grades um them as individuals things that they have going on outside of school and I think that's a testament um to the leaders um that lead them to the coaches and those folks that support them so I think it's a yes that success is great but it's a domino fact those people around so I think that speaks to uh the environment that we have in our schools is there ways for us to improve absolutely we should rest on our
rurals and continue to look to improve in those areas but it's been an exciting fall so far so thank you you and I actually have a lot of stuff um I had a long drive today for work and I was thinking of all the awesome stuff that's going on in the district and um you know scrolling through social media it was girls tennis uh you know they won the first sectional championship in program history that's amazing in the growth of that program double sectionals I'm GNA probably not do well with these names but Savannah andon maybe did I get it right no okay and Emily Young they play in the double stream and that was supposed to be today right yeah you know what happen okay um and AD Del bird and Holland Martin played
for third place um awesome I love tennis but they didn't have that when I was grown up and I think it's great um and again this is in no particular order second year in a row 12th overall for the marching band um bulldogs brought from the governor's Grand Champion trophy um in the marching Al line band competition that's awesome in class 3A they were first place for best visual and best music and I read a comment that somebody said they're best band in the land I thought that was neat um Mohamed boys Junior High cross country team placed third in state um out of 24 best teams of the states they placed third and I think at the beginning I read um coach Martin said there was 115 teams overall I mean that's amazing um
and they ear ined sixth in state which is the best in school history Paige Jensen earned All State Adam know the name mki mki okay and Noah crane they were all state in football they're their conference champs for three years in a row and they're going to make the playoffs so get your gear um High School boys soccer conference Champs high school girls volleyball are trending to be Apollo conference Champs also um it was principal's week last week um got to see a lot of awesome principles highlighted thank you for all that you do for each and um every one of your employees and students and then it's it's boss's day today so Happy Boss's Day um yeah and then I I I do need to bring up I just um would hope everybody prayed
for peace for Israel so that's all I got thank you Becky yeah sure um I wanted to report back on a pretty unique event that I attended a couple weeks ago it was the muham Seymour knowledge share uh which was essentially a TED Talk that was put on I think it was Mr Poe that organized this effort and um so we had one two three four five six different speakers uh four staff members and two students and I'll just go down the list here Tim liberer uh counselor at the high school presented on a topic called one one kind words success and happiness inspired by Mr Rogers Neighborhood uh student Nora uh presented a a topic called fake it until you make it um Mrs uh Rachel Simmons and remind me she is um she
School excuse me a school therapist or coun social worker thank you um presented on anxiety way not why it might not be such a bad thing uh Mr Ryan presented on uh you don't have forever and really put life in perspective as he's been doing for Ms students for 20 or 25 years probably um student Isabelle fonte uh introverted and extroverted why these terms don't work in a modern world and Keith POG uh very topical um topic already us Politics the worst they have ever been historical perspective and surprisingly he made the case for why is not um I I just I commend the staff and students for coming up with really creative ways for everybody to get involved and I think it takes a lot of Courage especially um at the high school age
to research a topic and present it in an auditorium under the lights in front of your friends and family and and staff um and uh I just uh continue continue to be impressed by our staff so uh the only thing I didn't like about it was that it's only an annual event I was hoping to come back again uh next quarter and a couple times next year to to listen to some engaging really engaging and articulate speakers so um keep that on your calendar for next year yeah cool thanks for sharing thatle all right uh Becky touched on quite a few of the same things I was going to touch on um but um we'll go through my list anyways um sounded like last week the dog walk at Lincoln Trail was a huge success
uh despite the weather um thanks to all the volunteers um that help put on that fun event for everyone um Good Luck to all the teachers and staff doing their uh parent teacher conferences this week um it's so important for the parents to be involved and know what's going on with their students in the classroom uh I had two uh conferences this afternoon was great I really appreciate all the effort um that the teachers put into those conferences um as Becky mentioned the the band uh winning the governor's grand championship U ofi uh congratulations to uh Mr Stevens and the Banning Department um girls junior high across country sixth place boys uh third place estate uh congratulations to Lisa Martin and their uh staff for their dedication and hard work uh virs boys football third
straight po conference title undefeated Conference record uh congratulations to coach Atkins and the coaching staff for all their hard work um when we first moved here the football program wasn't as good as it is now and I know football is not everything but it's really awesome to see how that's turned around and the culture that they have to Jeff point that that just uh permeates into every aspect academics and and community so that's really awesome to see um and I just love to see the success of our our Athletics and extracurricular program so that's it thank you Kyle Max um all the Kudos on the academic and ex programs couldn't agree with any of those more I'm not going to re recite the list but just great things um I am getting a little tired
of the ongoing Mantra that Dr Hall and Dr Romo were in charge of implementing CRT in our district that's just not the case um when you talk to their educational folks as far as what we're really doing um and that's been brought up multiple times now we refuted that multiple times it doesn't seem to make much difference what the truth is uh was there a picture of them online at the U ofi there was that doesn't mean anything about CRT any more than pictures of me online in Italy mean that I'm Italian because I'm I did visit there so it's just a little concerning when folks in our community keep TR to paint in here that it's not true and I don't want that that to go unchecked um but um it's been a good
fall and we're happy with uh really everything that's been happening from an academic and particular standpoint um Echo the boss's day Happ Boston State all of our people here who have people that report for them and um look forward to just winding the fall sports extra e down and moving in the next time year I know if you app we done we did a senior night like two weeks ago now for football and it just goes so fast that's good thanks everybody actually have two more sorry okay um without a doubt hands down we've got the best student section ever I mean I and thank you to Mama C for all those pictures because it's amazing like our student section not only football games volleyball whatever it's they're awesome and it just it it brings
so much energy and excitement and it just adds to the I don't know the energy of the the game so well on a typical Friday night the number of kids we have involved through football cheer band all that it's astounding to start with okay and then there was a number I heard a year so it's like 60% of the student body involv on Friday it's a huge number yeah don't quote me on that but it's a big number and then the student section shows up right on top of all it it's just fantastic you're right announcers they make it fun all the announcers very entertaining very ENT honey in voice yeah first and 10th of the 52 you guys everything I was gonna say has already been discussed so um just to reiterate congratulations to
all of our extra cers that had so much success as well um one program I'm not sure if I got mentioned but boys golf they won and uh they also qualified for the final day at stadium so they had a very good season and they did great too yep I saw and the swimming team I know swimming team I feel bad I I gave a blanket statement yeah it's hard start I mean I've said this before many times like with as much negativity in the world right now I'm just so glad kids are going through this time in our schools right now because I couldn't be more proud of our schools and our teachers and our staff coaches I mean my boys are involved in football and it's like somebody said coach coach ad T
program just rocking right now so much fun building more than just learning the sport you know learning lifelong I appreciate all that and thank everybody for their time commitment pouring into our kids lot of good peeps yep okay our financial report was included in your board packet does anyone you have anything to add to that hether no we're right on track I mean the only thing that probably looks funny to you guys is the fact that the bond um account is higher than um where we are in the year and that's just because of timing so we paid off paid on some bonds and the other one is our capital projects fund and that's just because we've uh moved to pay our bonds so everything else is in line okay anybody have any questions or
comments for other thank you very much for your report Supportive Services Christine you've had a chance to read the report you had that fantastic presentation by our Atlas students tonight so if you have questions I'm happy to answer any that maybe they could not okay does anybody have any questions or comments for CH no but that's a really awesome program my heart is so warm yeah so that grant that Justin was talking about can they apply for that too like just not Atlas but like your okay good we a lot of program a lot of our special education programs or classrooms have applied for that and gotten in past year so yeah absolutely Christine roughly how many students entering at age 18 stay through age 22 the vast majority we have kids that only like
there's just a small fraction of what they so they might just come for the vocational part so they don't come all day the students you saw tonight come and stay all day um and they're just a small number that might go in and out and most of them stay four years the one time a lot of times if they don't it's because they've been pulled early from what they call the puns list and they and they have Adult Services available to them immediately and so if they turn that down they may not come up again so sometimes kids will exit a little early for that most St yeah I figed thank you thank you Christine a little concerning to find out the dog treats are all good for two weeks if you put them in
the refrigerator they last finish up our first bag now I'm pretty sure been in trans first time that was part of it got that wied down I got a feeling you be got a n at my house got got to spread the love out okay the assistant superintendent report Dr Bagby oh yes you have an update in your board packet about our math implementation our teachers and instructional coaches have been working very hard um across the board but specifically at our K5 level with our math implementation so just a little bit of update on what they've been working on um over the past month so provid some information for you on that and some survey feedback from their last professional development session if you have any questions feel free to let me know any questions
or comments for Dr Vue right thank you so much thank Youk you thank you Dr Lee sprend report just a couple of quick things um the audit we have file Miss Smith had to file for an extension and we'll bring that to you at the November meeting that is just because um the Auditors um continue to take a little bit longer and ask more questions nothing U Crazy or anything like that it's just it's in final review right now um it's hard to find a it's extremely hard so um I've had several superintends reach out to me to see who we're using because nobody respond bid that they put out so we're not really sure so will be our annual financial report will be coming as well and then also just as far as propy
right compliance Dr Bagby and I will work together to make sure that the federal copy copyright law is Cent great any questions for Dr re okay moving on to regular business first up we have policy col yes we tweaked that a little bit from the feedback that we received last month and um you can see that that is in your your board packet um we hope that that was the intent of the board to bring you tonight when I look at that I think the tweaks reflected what we had talked about at the stud session and what we talked about last month thank you I wanted to point a couple things out um under number two uh what will now be the first bullet point or ex says and or the 20 minute minimum total
length does where is where does the 20 minute minimum occur before that it's talking about expanding the minimum of 20 minutes but the 20 minutes is not referenced prior Maxim 60 Minute I'm sorry in that first or should be maximum two 60 minutes so the 20 minute reference is in that first chunk that's sted out red right so it won't be there anymore so so it shouldn't be it needs to come out there then too no I think what's that saying is that an expansion of the maximum of 60 Minutes or minimum of 20 minutes total length for any one subject okay and that's the first place where the one subject is reference correct so you're saying we yeah so since we're striking out that first paragraph there's no reference to 20 any one subject
tell it's reference number I just like to to point out too I mean we had a bull point to public comment tonight that that directly goes against our policy of um directing comments to the board as a whole rather than individual members and I didn't like how that went down speak were sitting there talking about Jordan and is being communicated with that work once this is in place I mean that's where we can say hey look you know like this is where it says our rules are we're going to have to abide by that so I really think that once we get this in we're going to have to stick to that and hold people accountable for that it's not limiting what people wanted you know their ability to speak I think that part's in
place right now well we need to stand up that was UN for I think good letter didn't mean to get off Dr No AG no I agree got have this okay so now I'm looking at this closer in the first paragraph that is yellow which is all new we talk about 30 minutes and then down on the bullet point 60 to we talk about 60 so that's confusing to me I think bullet point two can just go because we give ourselves the discretion to to link it to link anyway in the policy yeah because up to 30 minutes and then maximum of 60 Minutes is contradictory oh well yeah up two kind of sounds like a Maxum yeah then you got Maxum down below so maybe it should be expansion of the overall maximum 260
minutes is that the what we're trying to accomplish from 30 it's always been 60 I think we changed it Jeff you were here for that conversation was that our intent to change yeah you can see it top that's what I thought so I think we keep the same and then you guys can always choose to yeah expand if you'd like okay yeah does that mean can we still vote on this amended strike two and the approvals for as amended and just so I'm clear the board wants to send a letter on behalf of the board reiterating about personel M yes okay so so I'll move we approve the policy um as amended with the amendment being striking what would now be the first bullet point under it two so two would just obser necessary appropriate
so the third bullet the third original bullet the second bullet now would be the only language under point2 J do you have questions on that on item number two I'm taking away the first two bullet points so the only one left is determination of procedural matters regarding public participation yeah and I can probably just become paragraph Just repeat that as a sentence yeah so ve one necessary and appropriate determination y okay it's what we're saying Le that's what the motion yes okay any more questions or concerns about that I believe there's a motion on the floor to approve this as amended do I have a second I'll second that thank you Jordan any further discussion R all vot Cody r yes mome yes Jordan yes bister yes s yes McMurray plan yes okay policy 460
yes that is just a cleaning up language that um had been revised a couple of years ago with no actual number in there so we are recommending that just to to clean it up and to clarify that um that number would come in right B threshold 20009 C gray area in 9 just making sure it's that Common Core math you know okay the superintendent recommends the approval of policy for 60 as presented do I have a motion to do sir move thank you Becky second I can second that okay any discussion yeah are just to get this cleaned up so yeah I think it's uh good to go call Jordan yes call yes bister yes s yeah Rock yes McMurray Lance yes 7 col 270 yes this is one that we've talked about a couple
of times as well um will make us um in compliance with law that goes into effect on January 1st if approved tonight we'll start working templ sooner than that um to where we'll have Naran and alter all um stock question for you on that would it be available like during extracurricular events um at all times um not necessarily at all times we would need to have someone who's who's able to administer that everything so what Mrs Floyd will begin with is it's implementation of um training the the health eops at first and we'll talk as an administrative group um how we would access that okay thank you we do several not all events but several events we do have Sportsman Personnel here and but but for now like for instance um for now we're planning
to have it in locked in the offices and then if we if we um I think to to if we wanted to move to having it at absolutely every activity then we would probably just need to have it out in the open next to like the aeds or something like that so we'll continue to massage this as we thank you okay the superintendent recommends the approval of policy 71270 as presented do I have a motion I move to um approve the policy as presented thank you Kyle do I have a second second thank you Jordan any further discussion we talked that length about this it's a great idea just get it going soon as possible okay roll call V please Maran yes yes Ro yes M yes bister yes L yes four core strategic team
Mr rck feel free to to hop in but um I felt like our our second um meeting uh really uh was productive and uh the the grp gr is becoming U more comfortable with themselves and working through um we created a a draft um mission statement and a draft vision statement that we'll bring back to the group again uh for further adjustments if needed um the other thing is that Dr bolts presented data that was gathered by his partner which is Dr Don White who's kind of in in my field the data Guru of of superintendent and and um I don't know if you were able to to look in that presentation but um really to take a look at at expenditures by student and then showed us different cohorts of districts that are Sim
of similar size based on on our geography and that and um it was it was very interesting um information as well so went well it was really really efficient run meeting and and U really looking forward to our next meeting is uh s yeah yeah I mean the the room is full um we've had it twice it's been full both times and um what really impresses me is you look around the room and it it really is all walks of life in this community uh different backgrounds different professions um I assume different opinions on especially the how schools operate and I think we saw that a little bit more last week than the first meeting there was some diversity of thought amongst the group definitely yep and uh yeah definitely thankful to that team for
uh not being afraid to to speak up and speed their minds and um we're only going to be as as good as as the group is and uh the group is working really well together so any fur discuss all right should we move on the new business or newu break power through this power all right new business consideration of approval for front line Central Dr b h the presentation that Miss Smith and I did last time is in the packet um we are bringing this forward tonight um for your consideration for approval um for Frontline Central as an onboarding solution um to help support um our staff in terms of onboarding all the certified and non-certified employees through the district um this would allow some efficiency within our staff to make sure that everyone knows
the steps that they are needing to complete when they need to complete it so that we can make sure all of our staff have an efficient onboarding um and that our current staff is able to maximize their capacity with what they're able to do um with their time um so that they can be more efficient some of those things that sometimes get pushed to the back burner they normally aren't able to do that's what we would like to start to be able to see um some of our staff being able to do so we've had a team look at this on our HR side or it side our administrative side um and we're bringing this as something that we think could make our practices more efficient um but bringing it forward for consideration for your
approval this evening there's any questions please let us know I have a couple yeah um cost standpoint um the tradeoffs that we'd be getting with this we're doing now um do you see any savings cost savings by by using this program I would say in terms of savings um some of the items we are doing currently right now are very manual so it's a lot of manual typing of information our staff is doing whether our principal's starting off with it it goes to an email and then it's going to um someone else to then manually enter somewhere and then there's a lot of other manual entry steps along the way um what I think that allows us to do is to stay efficient within our current sta that we have as we continue to grow
would be the biggest cost savings I would see um I think we're running with the staff that we have fairly lean in terms of what we're able to do and to be able to create that capacity um to maximize what we're able to do especially as we're growing um I I see this as a huge time saer and resource saver moving forward thank you for that question may you listen prayer andless yes there's that's with how manual it is there's a lot of r or air yeah so with these four other school districts that are similar to ours have you gotten any feedback I mean we didn't ask we did not I did not um that was just what I asked of like what other districts are using I know I've talked with an HR
director from my previous role up in Crystal Lake and they he put it in as soon as he went there because he had it in a previous district and they were Crystal Lake was all manual um and so they started moving towards it and so um that's where one where I did hear about the idea a question for Heather Heather does this so we know does this come out of tech or it come out of fund or come out of the technology budget um sorry question looks like we're going to see about a 10% increase um in negotiation on that we did so we did asked them they gave us some on the so we went back to them twice um they gave us some discounts they're wanting to get get more into the central
Illinois area um and so they said they they gave us they could maybe do a couple hundred more but that that would be it off of what they gave us with the discounts um they gave us some pretty significant discounts in that not this what this year the pration of the timing and then year one compared to what year three is um they took several thousand dollars so we did have those conversations with them um might be able to get them down a couple hundred more but that is they told us cuz they they have other schools and they share like what they give for pricing and things like that and they're trying to be very open and transparent with it um and so that was their reasoning as to like this is what it
is because of what pricing they've given other districts that makes Jess hard really [Laughter] happy hey you got a driver board you do you absolutely do I agreed thank you no thank you for those good questions yeah very good and so I like the idea that it just cleans everything up it makes everything more readily accessible to everybody that needs to access it and everyone all to do their daily tasks without as much burden on this any other questions or comments on this the superintendent recommends the approval of Frontline Central proposal ask do I have a motion thank you Max do have a second second thank you Becky roll call yes s yes MC Murray banister yes Jordan yes BR yes Lam yes number two resolution concerning of Hazard condition I don't believe Ryan's here
so Heather are you presenting this yes thanks um we are required to transport any students within or more than one and a half miles um unless it is a hazardous condition um whereas a lot of times we have to apply to the state and say this many cars go through it's a very detailed process so it is not changed from last year there aren't any more Hazard hazardous areas so you're just we do have to go through the process even though it hasn't changed of approving them every year does this factor in then when they do our transportation reimbursement yes can you talk a little more about how the reimbursement Works um the reimbursement is basically based off the previous year so it is based off of mileage pupils that are transported and then also
the costs that we have incurred from the previous year so it's based off of those three things um people like for example they do have reimbursement for all curricular items but anything that is non-curricular is not included in the reimbursement so um we go through the process of doing the transportation plan and uh get the numbers um Ryan transportation department will provide a lot of that you know the the number of students um on all the buses and the mileage that they did through the year and then I will run the numbers to see all of the different um accounts that have been affected we have a whole fund 40 so look at all the different items and we um then put that all through the transportation plan to determine what we are getting paid
and we usually are prated and I just went through conference the other day because we thought we might get more money but we're going to still be Pro about 80% okay and those reimbursements are specific to these hazardous conditions or are the Hazardous conditions a a component of the yeah the Hazardous conditions give us the ability to claim those routes as well even though they're within one and a half miles so listen so so if we transport somebody down the street unless it's a hazardous route we're not going to get reimbursed for that unless it's over a mile and a half from the front school okay so by getting these hazardous routes approved then we can get reimbursed for these miles okay is it thinking if it's less than and a half you you can
walk unless it's a hazardous route unless it's a hazardous route okay this is very well it goes by what car count railro railroad tracks State Highway yeah so they basically you're saying it's a busy street somebody has to literally go sit there and count how many cars I think everything any idea what our reimbursement specific to the Hazardous areas are um I can get that I I just look to see okay on it doesn't specifically tell you by item but I can kind of figure it out by I'm CU yeah because even coming in the back way anymore I've noticed he gets backed up like like the new like the High School Road I used to think be able to get in there night more and you know you just shared that tip on [Music]
matter but I would that we can always apply if there's different areas you know people think or hazs we can always apply to the state they actually make the final decision decision whether it's Hazard hazardous or not based off of the different components that they ask you to review will the new U roadroad Crossing be added to this or should that be considered South Mohammed Road I mean that definitely could be considered it just be going through the process all right from the school this year all right any other question questions comments superintendent recommends the approval of the resolution concerning review of hazardous conditions act presented do I have a motion to do so so thank you Kyle second second thanks Jordan roll call bister yes Ro yes Jordan yes McMurray s yes MC yes
L yes rental of space at sangon Main he as you probably already know we have been running space from sangon and simply for the same reason we're having with everything else we don't have any other area for the tech staff um so tonight we're just trying to continue that lease and until there's a another option at this point and a total of 12,000 per year did we pay during the summer we pay during the summer okay here they're doing a lot of a getting ready for school in the in the Chromebooks storage is the big issue I think that there's a lot of folks that I talk to uh up to the school board election that very frustrated with how that process went you know we we sold this building and now we're renting it
back and how does that look um so I I share that frustration it seems silly that we're having to do this uh but as I was thinking through that um the cost to rent this space versus the cost to upkeep or to pay for electricity or heat or some of those things you have to factor that in that's kind of how I'm trying to wrap my head around that or this part of it so in my day job I do have to review a ton of leases and the price per square foot of this is dirt cheap yeah and we couldn't own it and maintain it right right and given the options pry good option I'm with you yeah I think we would be do doing it in service not to at least mentioned that
but then to have that full picture I think is kind of where I did as well that's definitely not ideal but is the ideis we had at this time we're spending a whole lot more to rent portable classrooms yeah plus 100,000 pop to install on the will number over the superintendent recommends the approval of n of space presented I have a motion to do so thanks Max second second thank you Becky any further discussion roll call vote Jody s yes bister yes Brock yes M yes excuse me McMurray Jordan yes L yes number four affiliation agreement with WGU oh so this is an affiliation agreement um similar to an agreement we have with Illinois State University and um the University of Illinois that if we they have students who need practicum hours observation hours um
things of that nature that we are able to fulfill those needs this would specifically fulfill um some online nursing student programs um there's someone in the community who reached out to miss Floyd um with an interest in doing her student her student hours for nursing in a clinical setting um and the school setting meets that need um and then miss Floyd this evening actually just emailed me having another student that would be interested who's also going to WGU um so this plan would put it in place that um they would be able to do those experiences under the supervision of our district nurse Kelsey Floyd so that kind of just puts this into place so that we can partner with that University they reached out to us um with their students and we have students
in our community who are who are interested in doing their hours here so they're in our community so WGU is that kind of an online prr yeah it's an online program that's what I was missing it's an online program out of Utah it's an online program I was too when I received it so same yeah I mean we could obviously be providing uh an opportunity for local um students to uh get into schools and learn in in a real environment then that makes more sense absolutely we're not taking on any liability no so the it's no different than having student teachers um or student observers in place the HIPPA laws all of those things would apply um that our district follows and Mrs Floyd so um no no we would not be taking on that
liability is there a downside trying to look at from all angles um I mean and we also affiliate with another program right absolutely yeah no I mean there's those the more universities we partner with um and things of that nature I mean the more students we have in the building more background check more knowing who's in and out of the building right and then just the the competition from other um entities we have not to my knowledge had any other nursing um practicum students or anything like that um so this would be the first so what's that like we're taking away from another um partnership with a university or Community College or something like that because that would be a downside if we partnered with someone else and we already have a partnership and potentially
competing or taking away from those experiences for those students um but we have no one doing any nursing um with us currently you know we're an environment we operate ability to attract employees that landscape is becoming more more competitive all the time right very true I think anything we can do incs student name name the field in our buildings I think that just helps us in our quest to fill good quality so and this just runs until either side decides they want to end itre and that's what we have in place currently with like Illinois State University and the University of Illinois um we have spreadsheets keeping track of our student teachers those just coming in for observations those coming in to teach a few lessons um things like that making sure they have all
of their background checks done our office staff know who's coming in and out our teachers know who's assigned to them so we'll just add this to that list to make sure that we're monitoring it we still do social workings and the UI actually gives the social workers a stien right not sure there's some schools who are looking at like they like take education that that might be the case okay any other questions or comments from Dr B superintendent recommends the approval of the affiliation agreement with Governor University def I have motion thank you Jordan a second second thanks Jeff Jody roll call vote please Ro yes M mome yes Jordan yes bister yes s yes L yes number five appointment of iasd for All Conference delates yes at the uh October meeting it's kind of
been the uh practice for the board to discuss and appoint a delegate to go to the delegate assembly while at the Board conference three of of the board members here this evening will be at the the conference in November one this not here that will be there that's right yeah I will not be participating now that I pointed that out Max just we typically have used the vice president which is why is why you're not vice president T yeah that's interesting because I was the delegate last year and I was you know do need to but if Mr Rock want to do it you know what I don't hang on what does it entail well it kind of goes along with you said earlier how about the you love hearing that Ted Talk and oh
conversations oh so for those who are new give them a brief summary of what happens with this thing yes so um the the next thing on the agenda is this briefing and you'll see that um the resolutions committee has created a report to the Illinois there only about five this year right right so um they share those in here and then as a member of the Illinois Association School boards then our delegate vote on whether or not to adopt um these new resolutions so in the old days they gave you a pad I think it's is it digitized now yeah they have a little remote control but really you get submit it yeah you get oh ribbon you get a ribbon sign me up all right sounds like I got to go press a button
I mean I will say that it was interesting do we vote on it's just the mutual concern thing we vote on I just fig just you guys can point so that' be we go ahead really f reappoint well guess what we're gonna tell we're GNA tell her probably probably sitting she way to H my phone public comment is fast so I have no issue with any one of the three doing it they all three years capable yeah so do have a vol or a nominee Mr rocks volunteer it sounds interesting let's do it all right so do I have a motion to appoint Jordan as our conference delegate thank you Ma I have a second second thanks Jeff Roll Call v um Jordan yes mome yes bister yes s yes uh Rock yes McMurray lamb
yes okay now to number six resolutions for the conference yes so as we just kind of discussed the the resolutions are in here um there is a a ballot so to speak on the back if you wanted to share that with Jordan or if you just wanted to let Jordan know myself whatever's easiest how you feel about any of the resolutions and then we can compile any thoughts that we have from fellow board mbers prior to attending the conference I don't know if you can speak to this or not but how do these resolutions come about so they're presented by different um school districts so for instance if you'll um the first one industrial constu say industrial construction submitting district and then it says lesale School District 107 so it's a lot of them are
going to be specific to the school district that it will help them in some fashion if we wanted to SP one we could we would have had why something deadline deadline any further discussion on that right so you know like for instance and one of them in there is is school resource officer funding so I think that somewhere along the line I didn't read the background they just that's a good idea so so that just that's Homer actually Champagne County proposal no that's a homer up in okay the other but anyone Homer Township they're asking so these become essentially lobbying positions for ours that's very yeah so read through those and let Dr Lee know and feedback you might for those that okay that's it for new business uh do we have a reason to
go on close session tonight anyone okay no reason to go into close session I believe that would be it for tonight so is there a to anybody want we're having fun we I would like to thanks Jordan second second thank you kle uh can we do that on Voice vote everyone in favor say I anyone toose all right thank you everyone VI
