this award so we will do it up big for her at the at the elementary school um and sad that we missed her tonight so there's an extra fbaa member came in we need that introduction and a retake on the picture please welcome Trevor Klein come to the front Trevor Klein you know you have to have your picture taken for posterity [Applause] all right um I'm gonna ask Ian Chief to come up please Ian Chief is an eighth grade student at the Junior High um here you go g I give you that for a second and so I've got a few things to say um that some of the teachers have said about Ian and then I'll throw a couple things in as well um he uh one of his teachers says I've had the
pleasure of teaching Ian for two years I found him to be polite courteous and very trustworthy Ian cares about his classmates and teachers and he demonstrates this on a daily basis this is one student that I will always remember for the good things that he has done um and a second teacher said um Ian is a great kid always does his work he's a very kind and considerate student when the bell rings he always helps clean up the room he pushing pushes in his his chair pushes in the chair of others um and on his way out of the class he always stops to put in the door stop Ian also he holds the door for everybody at lunch um he is and so you don't see a door opening where students are going in
at that he's not holding the door um he is just such a polite student what a great example for bluid um and uh kudos to the parents because he is a very wonderful young man element Mr Grace is this Miss craft back here yes you have her come on in let's do it again yeah all right call I just have to say it takes good parents to raise good kids and and appreciate the parents that raising these kids all right so Callie's here now um like I said earlier she exhibits everything that we want in a Blue Ridge student um she's helpful she's positive she has a great attitude um her teachers absolutely love her when I request people to nominate students um very rarely do I get the same person from both teachers um
because teachers like to go across their class and nominate as many as they can both of Call's teachers nominated her for student of the month as well as a couple other staff members that have interacted with her throughout the building um very deserving student uh C craft thank you thank you for coming all right Lexi ordinola come up please so Lexi is our student of the month at the high school your plaque and more importantly free cookie um so Lexi not only is she her she's our senior class president um she's I have usually I know the kids forever because they've been with me that mid School junior high high school with a quite a few of them so I've only known Lexi for the last four years she came to bluid as a freshman
since her freshman year she has been really involved with the school and with it student council with its Athletics she's one of the pivotal team members of the soccer team throughout her years here um she is strong in the classroom she has uh 4 point I'm not 4.9 weighted GPA she has straight A except for one class unfortunately she had a be in one of her AP lab classes so but still remarkable to go throughout her High School career and only have one be so she's fantastic in the classroom she's helpful wherever she goes she does amazing job with student council and helping out a student body activities um we enjoy her in the morning announcements and jokes of the day she does a great job bringing the announcements keeping the kids informed of what's
Happening we want to recognize Lexi for the amazing job she does at the high school thank [Applause] you Mr web and Lexi is also on the high school side she's on the superintendent's kid Council and that is an amazing group of of students and so uh I wasn't surprised when she was nominated and she has contributed at at a very high degree and we appreciate she's one of many of our wonderful kids good job Mom on on that thank you craft family thank you as well now miss hoffm principal hoffmier you have a teacher of the month award to present yes if I could please have Mrs cherity bero come [Applause] up you're welcome Charity's been with us for uh three years now um and it is a she came to us um as a
teacher from the Philippines with an extensive background in um in teaching English and it is a difficult process to come to the United States to teach um and so she she managed every challenge that was thrown at her um and she is such a proponent of our bluid culture it's so amazing to see um she is she come steps in and helps wherever she has asked and volunteers I mean if we just say we need some people helping with this she is always there um she is a wonderful example of kindness to her students um she brings us information if she has concerns about students she's always bringing that to our attention um and reaching out to the students to make sure that they feel welcome in her classroom um and so we are just
very blessed to have her as a teacher at the junior high congratulations I also wanted to recognize Ian's family for coming looks like he has a really good support system there the chief family thank you for coming and supporting your child we appreciate you we have now our February be our star and uh Mr Webb will you present this for us please sir you bet Mr Archer backck come forward please so Mr archb is the BR star winner for the month of February has did not come with a cookie just kidding you get your cookie too um so Mr Archer Beck he is assistant principal at the high school assistant principal for discipline but he does not only handle discipline now that is a major job of what he does you'll see him running across
campus um he's he's the guy that bust our kids for Vaping so he is getting his miles in and and it's making a difference and we're seeing those numbers come down and um and it's partly the effort that he puts into the dedication of his job um doesn't matter beond the classroom with the discipline side of it he is a major Force within the high school with um curriculum with the teaching working with the teachers doing helping his wife Ricky with professional development um um he helps out with all the athletic events he wherever there's a need Mr arck is there he's helping out with the the little league basketball um he's he's got a vested interest there with his with his boy but he would be involved no matter if his boy wasn't doing
basketball he's just that dedicated into bluid and so we've adopted him into the bluid family and we want to make him feel welcome and so he'll be here a long time so we want to recognize him for be our star great job Mr Webb if I could also add Mr archet is an outstanding example for our young students we need young energetic Educators to serve as good role models for these kids and and he's certainly a great role model we appreciate his work ethic and his and the the spirit he brings to the job he's just an outstanding member of the family we thank you we appreciate you Jake thank you nothing but good we hear about Jake thank you Jake um that part of the agenda will conclude the next um section of our
agenda is a consent agenda that um is an accumulation of several things Miss Butler Diana have you had a chance to review that and is there any item that you would like to take out and vote on separately no it looked good all right Jennifer how about you is there anyone to speak in behalf of the school fundraisers here tonight if not then no fundraiser no Mr web no okay um if not I'll make a motion to accept the consent agenda is presented I'll second that motion I have a second from Jennifer all in favor I I that looks like that passed unanimously the next item on the agenda is business and uh that only is a district update uh Dr right we're going to turn to you so you can give us an update
on all the things that have been happening in the last month yes sir the the top of the hour update is that our girls are home tonight at 7 p.m. they're hosting a state I think that'd be a first round of the state playoffs I think is the number nine Team Six team 12 team I was closer I was right the same but they're the 12 team they've done a really good job so come on out tonight and cheer on our girls they're playing I think Gilbert Academy from they in the valley and so we're going to cheer them on our boys Mr web are in the state tournaments well or just just narrowly missed the 24 spot came on strong at the end made a good run at it and they did beat sholo
they beat sholo we can say that they beat sholo three times good job and our girls have really made a nice run the end of the year both teams are playing very hard we have about five wrestlers I think that are still in the State uh tournament and so that happens in Prescot this next weekend it's Friday and Saturday it's not convenient but it it's it's fun I always find my my way there to watch a few of our kids wrestle we'll be there one of our female wrestlers is is in the tournament on wrestling females she's the first wrestler to wrestle females and we had another that's at Air Force Academy and she wrestled against everybody and so we've we've got it coach Merill I want to say this has done a great job
building a program we had more boys and young ladies on that team than we've ever had in the more than nine years that I've been here and so great job with that as well and so uh that we had also in terms of academics the PSAT or act this yesterday and today and so we had a good showing with with that and uh we are at the I don't even know what month it is I think it's February the 70 days of February and so we appreciate the community's patience the weather's is is tough and we appreciate our teachers administrators working on the instructional time model to have make sure that the learning continues but we will not have to make up days at the end of the year so it takes added work especially
for the teachers administrators but at the end of the year we won't have snow days to make up that's the that's a positive side of it and that those are really the highlights um Mr President unless the board has any questions I'd be glad to answer or address those I think you're forgetting one of the major highlights and that was the play Sound of Music Sound of Music yes it was that was an incredible performance it was it was absolutely wonderful I saw three of those I think six performances and I was able to see both casts and they did an exceptional job and for uh High School of 650 kids really a remarkable job you would expect something of that quality to come out of a 6A school with 4,000 kids maybe but I
don't know that it would have been any better it was just amazing from the from the performances by our students to the props and the costumes the whole thing was wonderful but there was a lot of work that went in that I want to give Kimberly's team on facilities and maintenance uh it was a herlean effort to get that ready in time I was telling a March end of March I I just if it got done sooner great but that was a a great effort by your team we appreciate it and facilities for making sure that everything runs well Mr bloomstrand Dr D Jennifer ol and uh Becky Evans so many other people that contributed it was it was a wonderful really wonderful I brought my mom on the last night of it so that
was maybe her 500 showing that she seen she was singing along with it it was wonderful yeah they did a great job great job we're very proud of our kids I anything else Mr mer that we left I believe that's enough Diana do you have anything you'd like to ask the superintendent no thank you Jennifer with that aren't they putting in for a national competition I I I know that ASU was there at least one of the nights observing and so I think they are in some type of a greater competition and as she was evaluated in the program I'm sure they were you know as excited as we were do we know how many people attended I was at the last showing and it was just about at capacity which would be about 675
the first night was well over 500 and I was there on the uh I guess would be the fourth night and there's well over 450 people so I'd s an average Route 500 people a night so 3,000 out of 4,500 Community pretty good pretty good and Mr Webb too I want to thank Mr Webb and Mr archal archet and everybody that has done so much Megan they support these programs and that's in addition to by the way we teach math science English and history and so it's uh the administration team took on a lot of of that work and made sure that they that Teresa and her team had everything they needed so those things just don't happen there's a lot of work behind the scenes and I want topr my appreciation to all of
those folks sitting right there that make these things happen so good job and thank you I also wanted to say that I received a compliment from one of our families because our Junior High Principal was at a junior high tournament on a Saturday in Snowflake so they're always doing something just a true fan right just a true fan Junior High Principal you it takes a special person to teach and support Junior High kids she's the only one in the room one of the few in the world that could do it the other one's on the phone over here she did it for many years yeah Miss D I have absolute respect for anybody that works in a junior high period um I do know for a fact that there were people from our adjoining communities
as far away as Winslow and Holbrook that came to this performance they heard about it saw the posts and came to see for themselves and were thoroughly impressed so we did we I didn't do anything they did a wonder wonder wonderful job anything else next item on the agenda is a call to the public is there anybody here that would like to address the board at this time going going gone all right next item is an announcement of when the next board meeting will be held it will be Tuesday March 19th at 5:00 P p.m. at this location um dianae do you have any questions no thank you much we need a motion to adjourn have a motion to adjourn from someone I still move uh have a second from Jennifer all in favor say
I I
