we'll call this meeting in order and we're going to begin with the Pledge of Allegiance and I've asked Jennifer Brimhall to lead us in that I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all this afternoon I'd like to excuse Margaret Gabby and uh Diana Butler because I'm buying us under the weather a little bit Margaret's traveling didn't get her on time she won't be able to make it to the meeting tonight we had a sad thing happen to us this um this past week and Dr right on turn on time to you so you can say something a little more personal to me yes sir so we wanted to have if we could
we lost one of our students a high school student Michael Smith and we wanted to have a a moment of silence thank you and so uh this like every every time we lose a student it's it's uh it's painful Michael was an exceptional kid extremely bright uh beloved by Allen had a really sweet Spirit about himself we will share when the details are made available about his uh celebration life of Celebration memorial service thank you thank you Dr Ray I appreciate that you knew him more than me so I appreciate your willingness to speak something personal next item on the agenda is a recognition of our may be our students of the month Dr Ryan I'm again turn it over to you absolutely this is a lot more fun we have some a great kids
every month we say the same thing and it's true we have some exceptional kids let's start with Elementary Mr Grace will you please introduce your student of the month the month for the for the month May is going to be Jackson Houston objects and then his teacher Mrs Grace's former teacher is here to thank you [Applause] so I have Jackson in sixth grade I'm his homeroom teacher I have for Math and for social studies he is an awesome kid he is always there always happy he does all of his work and he gets excellent results so he's one of those kids that you love having in your class and you wish you had 24 more of them okay happiness [Applause] congratulations Jackson Let's uh go to the junior high Courtney is hofmeyer please thank you
our Junior High student of the month is Brenna Blake if I could have her come up please laughs [Music] [Applause] I have a few words from a couple of her teachers and then I've got a few words of course that I'll add in as well um about Brenda but um from her English teacher Brenna is an exceptional student she takes schoolwork seriously and is diligent she responds positively to whatever task or assignment given is given to her and maintains a happy disposition and her science teacher says um oops forgot page two also wonderful things uh what are the things that we most appreciate about Brenna is her positive attitude she is one of the happiest people we see on our campus I think I saw her once sad for about 30 seconds and it broke
my heart and I just we do whatever we can she is just the happiest person and she makes everybody around her smile so we're so grateful to have fun on our campus [Applause] thank you congratulations Brianna for the high school I don't want to steal any of Mr Webb's thunder so I'm not but after he's done I'm going to say a few words about this exceptional young man Mr Webb I'll turn it over to you all right the high school would like to recognize Cyrus Baca Cyrus if you come forward please foreign [Applause] is a local celebrity name pops up in the independent over time and recently he had a very nice article written about him and also in in connection with the Blue Ridge NASA rover team so Cyrus is able to help that
team and he's actually been a big part of the team all four years here at Blue Ridge so each year they were able to participate it and came away with great recognition this year they were actually fifth plays among all of the high schools throughout the country and throughout the the world that actually applied to be included in this competition so to be recognized for fifth place is a great achievement for Little Blue Ridge and a lot of it goes back to Cyrus and his participation involvement within that group it extends beyond that he is one of our students that has many offers to very high prestigious colleges universities um have you made a decision yet where are you going Colombia all right he's going to be going to Colombia a huge accomplishment there and
he had at least eight other prestigious universities that were that he was accepted to as well so he had to make a decision where he was going to go and what would best suit his needs and his future plans and I know he's going to do a great job um on a side note he's he's been he helped out with the tech department over the last couple years and anytime I needed some tech work done I would call on Cyrus he'd come up and make me some network cables and try and get some stuff done so he did a great job in addition to the classwork everything else that he does uh he's he's just a great student and all-around young man that we're proud to have here at the high school so we're going
to recognize him and then Mr Dr Wright's going to say a few more words too yeah I also want to add he's passed up University of California Berkeley and Cornell to go to Columbia to join his brother so the white singer Baca family has produced two amazing young men and more than just being intelligent and great kids and great citizens they're wonderful human beings and and we love you all we're proud of you good job Cyrus congratulations [Applause] and so Dad can get a picture he deserves a pitcher nice work okay now we're gonna we're gonna recognize the the Blue Ridge teacher of the month uh just as a side note we'll announce the Blue Ridge teacher of the year at our kickoff in 2023 another carried to get teachers to come back so for
this month's uh we would like to recognize Tyler wagenfer from the elementary school Ty come on up please [Applause] so Mr wagon fear came to me last year he's he was an exceptional fourth grade teacher he came to me last year and he said there's a hole in our special education program and I'm willing to do what I need to do to teach special education and jumped in there because he knew we needed it and our students needed it and it has been a integral part to getting our students ready to move on to the junior high as far as our special needs students go so earlier this year we had Miss wagenfir who has been teaching him everything she knows and Tyler has just done an outstanding job and we're lucky to have him
um and then just real brief before we kind of move on I'd also like to call up Jonathan Rao so Jonathan is one of our employee star awards for this month Jonathan's a first year with us um and he has fit the team perfectly everything every day all day he's there whatever is needed but these two these two men here last week we had a suspicious person on campus that we we had to call law enforcement to come talk to there was no threat involved to the school or anything like that but at the time we didn't know that we just had not been able to make contact with this person and so that was what triggered that when that came over the radio these two men here came at a literal run down the
hallway right out the front door to put themselves out there with Mr Robinson to do what needed to be done to make sure that our students were safe I couldn't be more proud to have these two working on our campus so give them a round of applause [Applause] thank you now we would like to recognize the VR stars of the month and after that we'll have the BR Superstar award we would like to first um it's kind of hard I'm trying to get you out Mrs Hoffmeyer I know you have a open house I'd like to do it if we could in order um Ryan would you please make your presentation it looks like you've already presented to Jonathan but for Daniel Robinson and Jonathan's would be our star of the month too correct yes
sir so Mr Robinson and Miss Butler they were mad if I pulled them up one at a time so both of y'all come on out these two are probably on our campus to be the Be Our Stars they have picked up every bit of slack that I have dropped this year from from being out for my surgeries for whatever it was without them we wouldn't have functioned and there's there's no doubt in my mind that that's that's the case both of them every day do whatever it needs for our students they're there from I think Dan probably gets there about 5 30 in the morning kind of shortly after and they're both the last people to leave every day um but we couldn't ask for two more dedicated people working for Blue Ridge and and
working for our students so um personal thank you as well as a professional thank you [Applause] make sure we get a picture Mr Robinson thank you congratulations from the high school I don't see Mr bloomstrand here Mr Webb will you please present though and talk a little bit about do you have for Brian can you present a little bit of Brian's not here but if you could speak to his contributions and then uh after that Rebecca woods from the high school Mr Webb so is choir teacher at the high school also helps with all the music programs the musical directs all the everything from up top and he is just incredible with our kids they the product that he can produce with with student voices is incredible when you hear how they're starting and how
they're finishing their classes it's just amazing um he is very talented uh at what he does and then the calmness that he brings into all of his classrooms and how he talks to students and teachers and parents um with so much respect and he's just an incredible staff member to have it on our campus we're really lucky to have him thank you and congratulations [Applause] Mr Webb could you please introduce Rebecca Woods Ms Woods come on out [Applause] I don't know if you have room for this but she keeps being awesome and we just keep recognizing her because she does amazing things we are so very lucky to have her at the high school and not just that she do math but she does the hardest math the hardest levels that we have on campus
and I think Cyrus you've had this ruins too right amazing teacher our kids that take this Woods classroom they some of them may just be in there because they have to take it but they love her class and they're engaged every time we go in we notice that the kids are engaged and and it's a it's hard math and they look like they're having a good time so whatever you're doing keep doing it because the kids they keep signing up for those hard classes and the kids do well when they do the AP exams in our classroom and so we're super proud of her and she not only does she do math but she also was willing to pick up a new class first this year she taught yoga and how many kids signed up
for that one like 35 38 it was it was a full class in a small room and I think it turned into hot yoga because it was so warm in there but it just shows you what she's anything that we need or we ask of her she's willing to help out so congratulations for the BR month of BR start for the month of May congratulations Rebecca [Music] now we're to the uh we're to the the BR Superstars and what this is we take the folks that have been recognized all year and we choose normally one or two in this year we couldn't limited to two so we had three that we want to recognize that have earned this honor and they're all exceptional human beings let's start with uh Courtney Ms Hoffmeyer would you please
start with Mr Butterfield it is my pleasure to recognize David Butterfield if Mr Butterfield could come on up [Applause] Mr Butterfield is a constant support to all of our students on campus and he's a constant support to us in the front office he is exceptional with students in helping them see their own potential in helping them rise to meet their potential and and also making them just love the game of chess because of Mr Butterfield's every 8th grader on our campus knows how to play chess and that's pretty incredible students will come in he offers up his classroom every day at lunch to have them come in either play chess come in for extra help with math or just to give them a safe space so we are we're very lucky to have Mr Butterfield
on our campus he is he is critical at the junior high and we love having him I'm going to ask him to teach yoga next year he doesn't know it yet you know but also a great sense of humor and we appreciate that too he really does have a great way with students and lucky to have him thank you [Applause] I also would like to add that Mr Butterfield is one of the important teacher leaders of that campus he just brings calm um a high degree of intelligence and caring and compassion I've never been in his classroom that he wasn't offering direct instruction and having taught for seven years you could probably catch me doing a hundred times a day not doing that it's hard and he's he's always teaching and we sure love and
appreciate you Ryan can you uh introduce another exceptional human being to meet a temper our BR Superstar for the 22-23 year is Miss Demeter temper [Applause] this temper runs a great shift when it comes to sixth grade she stays on top of everything everything that uh I need to stay on top of she stays on top of me to make sure that I stay on top of that too um it takes a special kind of person to really love teaching sixth graders um and Miss temper is one of those people she has super high expectations and she makes sure the kids have all the tools that they need to meet those expectations um we're lucky to have her leading our sixth grade team and I'm I'm lucky to have her on campus as having been
a sixth grade teacher finding sixth grade teachers that are greater is hard and we have an exceptional one here congratulations [Applause] I'll also add that damita's test scores in her classes every year for eight years have exceeded men are exceeded every other classroom it doesn't matter what collection of kids she has her kids perform and so she's also one of those that are 100 engaged and does an exceptional job we love you before we start we have Rebecca Woods mama here stand up Mrs Woods look at it come on Rebecca have your mom stand there you go we wouldn't have herbs wouldn't for you thank you for making the trip Mr Webb would you like to present come on down again well as she's coming up I want to thank her mom for doing the
amazing bulletin boards that she does in the hallway she has definitely brightened it up cleaned up some of our old trophy cases so thank you that it was greatly appreciated so with this she's a superstar for the year 22-23 Superstar should be a Saturday Night Live move or somewhere in there um all that that I said before and additionally a couple things that I left out so she's also one of our teacher technology trainers so if some of our teachers are having a problem with technology whether it's the um the installation of the new multi-factor authentication program or learning how to do the synergy synergy grades posting grades anything related to technology she's always willing to help out and does it in a way so that the new employees and sometimes the older employees understand
it well so she does that she's also chaperones a great trip I think she's going to where you're going this Atlanta with Atlanta for FBLA trip with Jack so she's a great mother as well and we enjoy having her kids at school even the ones that are net school I love seeing them so she does amazing job all around that's why she's our Superstar for the high school thank you please hang around for just a second Miss what if you could I want to add if you could wait there Mr web as well I want to add in 2017 suddenly and expectedly we had a teacher pass away Thomas Keane the the auditorium is a it's named after this good man this this guy was a trained engineer he graduated from the Naval Academy he
was amazing there was no way we were going to replace Thomas King I just knew it and then I had this uh file come across my desk of a young person named Rebecca Woods young lady that had graduated college and she had a 3.97 at a top university in math and I've never met anybody who had a 3.97 in math and so after we got to know her what I appreciate most about Rebecca is she can teach the entry-level pre-algebra or the calculus kid and she treat teaches treats and teaches them all the same and she has a way of reaching out we did find a way to replace Thomas King and never thought we could I'm just not sure we can have replaced Rebecca woods so don't go anywhere we appreciate you we love
and admire you and are so thankful for your dedicated service thank you thank you you know Dr Wright gets a little emotional and I'm lucky I'm not talking because I get a little emotional just being of pure Pride from the people that we have in a school district and you know I think we I think we have the best of the best here and I I am so proud so proud Dr Wright you see when he gets a little emotional he gets his pin right here and he goes come on do it you can do this you can do this so he loves you and it's obvious he loves you typically and I'm going to make a little decision right here typically we would do call to the public at the end of this meeting
we have a call to the public in the project and the uh the content of this uh call the public is a Rover project so I'd like to hear it right now and we if we were to ask Bill Gibson if you wouldn't mind coming up and making your address to the board at this time we'd like to have you limited to about three or four minutes and uh appreciate that um thank you I thought I had a little more time um it's it's nice to have Jack here Cyrus I got to spend some amazing time with these guys and with annalize my son Nolan I'm become a little emotional because I had I was I was so excited by this um and uh Cameron in Huntsville Alabama I want to thank um Kevin Woolridge
for what he's done for this program and giving me the chance to be part of it uh Jennifer Brimhall she got to experience that with me to see our kids go out there and compete internationally there was eight different countries there there were high schools there were college students but I think what I was most impressed by our kids was not intimidated by a single one of them they went out there and competed on the highest level uh High School sports anything that you can compare that to I felt like I was watching our kids in the Little League World Series I was out there yelling at him I was rooting them on we were we were chasing them come on go go it was so much fun they were amazing um I think what
I really want to get to you is one thank you for giving us uh instructors who are willing to put in that time after school on weekends uh our our kids were there with him but those five kids dedicated themselves to this I had no idea what I was walking into I didn't know it was hey they built a Rover they're gonna go driving around a parking lot harder I was I was just so impressed by them to have a top five finish out of all of those schools that were there and it wasn't just that they they finished they worked as a team to do it they had strategies they met they talked about what we're going to do they worked on that Rover in between their uh different trials to make sure that
they were doing their best I want to thank you as a district and a board for supporting this program I am implore you to continue and these are the things we we hear all about the sports we do we love our Sports here but we need to hear about these things our our families here in Pinetop Lakeside need to to hear about the programs that are available to our chess team that finished second in the state I believe it was um we got some great articles in the newspaper recently but we all we we get a lot of text messages from the school district Dr Wright we always get to read the letter from Dr Wright to see maybe read the letter from Dr Wright and have it say congratulations to to these kids support
them join these clubs the text messages that we get that say Hey soccer practice or soccer tryouts are coming how about hey have you thought about the physics Club some of these kind of things being communicated to our families just to remind them that we're not just great at Sports and all these other things I mean some amazing teachers here and we we just need to tell everybody that Blue Ridge Unified School District is as good as anybody else and I think we can do that we can encourage our kids and our community to to support these other programs and then last thing I just want to say is I am so excited about next year I only got to go for a couple of days I'm booking my entire week to be in Huntsville
with those kids next year hopefully you get to go because we had we had we had a pretty good time and um and again just I want to say thank you and I apologize for being emotional but I I this was this was probably one of the greatest events I've I've got to do with some of the greatest kids and I hope that I hope you understand that so thank you you're welcome thank you Mr Gibson appreciate that chuck would like to address the board at this time or anything um I would like to take a moment and thank Bill may not be aware of it but this last Saturday uh White Mountain Country Club allowed us to have the Blue Ridge scholarship fund Golf Course golf tournament there last Saturday and bill and his
staff put on a fantastic dinner for all the golfers after it was over and I had lunch for everybody and he they I can't say enough great things about White Mountain Country Club and especially bill so anyway thank you very much Bill we appreciate it you know we're really not supposed to respond but out of Pride I'm going to have to just say amen I and Dr Wright I'm gonna let you say something here because I know you're so involved in this communication aspect in the past we we are still learning how to communicate to a new generation and uh those phone calls we used to make those robocalls that doesn't work anymore and we're learning so I appreciate the input and I'll make sure that that gets put in there but Dr Ray you
want to address anything that he said I would encourage you to get on Facebook Instagram and also Twitter because we've posted a lot about Fab Lab on it and the uh several competitions they've been involved in and so the newspaper will hit people that are my age and older but really social media is where we're getting a lot of it and so that's where we've been but like anything else we can always get better at what we're doing and so we appreciate the feedback thank you love it thank you very much okay next item on the agenda is Adam item number two board is there any item in the consent agenda that you would like to take out to vote on separately or should we just have a motion to accept the consent agenda as
is written about motion to accept second from Jennifer all in favor that would be the Quorum saying yes okay item 3.1 recommendation to approve the second revision of the fiscal year budget for 2022. Kimberly you wanna starters off on that sure good evening governing board members and governing board presidents so we're on our second revision of the budget so I should have a PowerPoint it's here he's pulling out there it is thank you um so your um all school districts are required to do a second revision uh by May 15th so this is our second revision the revision is basically based on student count um this just talks to you about the requirements of that so we'll move on to our student account so you can see here that we are down about 35 students
from our Revision in December we're down at to 16 30. um and our special ed ADM number has gone up a little bit and that's average daily membership so that's not actual students and they all have different weights so it's hard to equate how many sped students we have to the different weights we have so um our ml budget was increased by 1.1 million so we did that by moving um money from our Capital we moved 970 000 from our Capital fund our daa and we did have a tuition increase of 143 474 I just want to mention the tuition increase will the formula for that will change next year and that's our students from McNary from Vernon and from Concho that go to our high school and then so uh because we um increased
our mno by the 970 000 we decreased our Capital that was part of our plan for um this year's deficit um was to move that money and moving forward we'll do some of the same if we have a deficit that's perfectly Allowed by the state of Arizona in our budget we can move the money back and forth all right are there any questions yeah it's something Mr President you can see that that moving Capital over of almost a million dollars after a period of time it's going to have a negative impact on our ability to maintain our current facilities people our programs as well and so we're we're able to piece it together for a couple years but the board will contemplate a bond in an amount of somewhere between six and eight million dollars
at some point and then that will help us offset some of this if we're able to to get that passed and so right now we're still we're still able to make it work we've tightened our belt we've cut out about a million in expenses this year versus next year going forward and we're so we will be meeting I believe on May 31st to contemplate going out for a bond election that does pretty good demonstration right it's brief but it did a very good demonstration of why we would need the money to be able to continue to support things like our Fab Lab buy new buses when the old ones break down computers and then address the safety issues we have a number of those where we wanted we need to improve in a couple areas
of student safety be able to provide the security we need for our students our student safety and success are two top goals safety and success and that means something for everybody extracurricular activities including our future Business Leaders the career and Technology education programs or fabrication lab all of those things that we bring to the kids extracurricular Fine Arts we do a really good job I I agree with what Bill had said is that we can do a better job of helping people understand because I not only think that we are as good I think this is the best school in the area and what has some of the top students in the state certainly have that level of teacher support and the other folks so I just wanted to add that for the boards information
thank you any other questions I did have a question because you said something about uh next year's formula will be positive or is it going to be a hit that is to be determined so they haven't determined yeah they have determined it but we'll have to see once the numbers wash out what's going to happen hopefully it's going to be a wash that's the plan but this was something that was determined by the legislature a year ago that they were going to move to a different formula so they're still working out all the bugs of how that's going to happen will it be similar to what we're doing right now no charging like making a certain amount and if I might add that's average daily membership that means we get so many dollars per student
instead of getting tuition in and tuition then is offered to kids that they don't have a high school in their area in Arizona really can go anywhere you want as long as there's capacity but if students reside in an area that do not have a high school they have a right to go to the closest high school and so they're you're treated like in District kids they're just going to be funded like in District children now that's really the only change and that you may have had a if your larger question was what does the budget look like I agree with Kimberly we don't know yet there's a big chunk of one time money that we might see a bit of a spike for one year and then I think over the course that the
money that will be annually put to the Baseline support it'll it won't keep up with inflation and or other costs so it won't be sufficient to make up the gap okay I was just curious if you had any the inside loop yeah I digress for just a second since we do have actual people here tonight which is wonderful to have family I think it's really important that we start lobbying our legislature and also the governor's office to help us with funding I don't think a lot of people recognize that our state now funds private education through tax credits at almost double but we get per student and then also charter schools get an average of is it two thousand dollars more per student than a public school because they expect the local community to pay
for that shortfall so if um if we could rally teams together to let them know that we need that additional two thousand dollars imagine two thousand dollars per student times sixteen hundred students that gives us over three million dollars four million almost yeah four to five million dollars additional to our budget and our shortfall is more like 1.5 ish on the average so when we are going up against all of these schools for competitions recognize that they are getting paid funding at a significantly higher rate with no requirements for transportation food and special education so we're not playing the same game and our kids are not only exceptional the state level but I think that they're nationally acceptable and we just discovered that it is a worldwide our students are very successful so if overrides
and bonds are something that gives you a bad taste in your mouth it's in time that Public School parents get together and start lobbying our legislature to ensure that we get adequate funding because it is shameful at the rate that we are funded at us at a public school level did we hit a nerve or something amen amen you forgot homeschool homeschool kids get a lot of money I do that really doesn't have any strings okay we need a a motion to accept the revision the second revision for our 2000 22-23 budget I have a motion I have a second from check on favor that's all of us thank you thank you Kimberly item 3.2 recommendation to approve the intergovernmental agreement joint technical education course and Navid programs this is something we do every year
Dr Ray just want to explain why we do it every year yes this is an annual requirement in order for us the district to receive the funding the board must approve our participation in these programs for CTE and also the navit [Music] any questions we have a motion I'll make the motion I have a second chuck all in favor okay that was also passed okay recommendation to approve out-of-state travel for our high school future Business Leaders of America to go to Atlanta Georgia we've seen the itinerary we've seen the the results and uh any questions how many students are going to be attending that do you have an idea Rebecca one just one one nice job Rebecca's favorite student in high school and the date has been the day it's actually June and not July
one clarification for the board okay so any questions or anything so I'll make a motion to approve check out the Second That Emotion all in favor that too has been passed okay Dr Wright we're going to turn some time to you okay I have a brief report and there is so much going on in May I've limited it to one two three four five six six activities that are probably most prominent there's something just about every night if you're a parent though um on May 8th which is I think it starts this last Monday through the 12th is teacher appreciation week we have barbecues for each of our campuses for all staff we started off with the elementary school today and we had a barbecue we'll have another one Thursday for the junior high and
Friday for the high school and we also have a little handout that we just a small token of our appreciation for our wonderful teachers and we want to recognize them May 16th will be the Baccalaureate and that's in the Thomas Keene auditorium at 6 PM we'll also have the senior video at that time and on the 17th and Senior scholarship Awards night that is at 6 pm and where our Target is be done by 8 PM that's our goal not 10 p.m thank you and the last day of school for instruction K through 12 is May 19th that is also for the time of our the date of our graduation commencement exercises which begin at 7 pm at Paul Morrow Stadium the grad Knight lock-in is our end of the year celebration if you have
any desire to help out there's still parents that are needed and help adults that are needed for those that haven't participated begins at 10 30 pm and it goes to four in the morning so we need to have chaperones and so I'm working that first shift for the first four or five hours see if I can make it to one we'll see and we can need help anybody that wants to do it we we ask for your participation and I ask about two more potential dates yes ma'am um Powder Puff is when 10 oh I better hustle and then the next one is Mr Yellowjackets this week okay thank you are there any other activities Ms bramel that you want to know about dates I don't think so I I've got a sheet Lauren sent
a sheet I'll send it to the board and that's my report if there are no further questions Mr President any questions from the board Chuck thank you Dr Wright a lot going on May's the busiest month of the year you see we used to think December was the busiest month May is actually the busiest month of the year so now back to call to the public if there's anybody that would like to address the board at this time we'd invite you to come and do that um come on up we know who you are but you need to state your name I'm I know who I am I'm Michelle horn and I have kids in the elementary school in the high school I just wanted to recognize our fine arts department for the wonderful job
they did with the concert if any of you attended last night it was probably one of my favorites since we've been here and for the musical that was just put on for the public and um those kids have been working since January they were every day after school for hours and hours and hours and the directors Mr bloomstrand uh Dr D my mind's going blank Alicia and I say Becky thank you they all put in countless hours also and those four people have the best um of their hearts going to the youth they support them in everything they do and they are an amazing team we were in the valley for 12 years I think and went to some really nice schools down there that we've had plenty of funding and I would say that
Blue Ridge far surpasses anything I ever saw come out of any of those schools of the valley as far as the Fine Arts are concerned and so I just wanted to thank you for supporting the fine arts department and I hope that you will continue to do so it's it's been a great program for my two High School daughters and David last year was able to be a part of that musical in hopes that he can again she thinks he's one of them yes so anyhow I just wanted to thank you for your support of Fine Arts and please continue to do so thank you thank you Michelle if I if I might respond yes I I would hope you would I had the opportunity to meet with all three of our folks that are
the directors um Jennifer Olney for her band I had a thank you note for her and and wanted to express appreciation for the Improvement for those of you who've been following Jennifer's work the last four years when she began it sounded like banging pots and pans together it was painful and she had a small group of maybe 12 kids and then now they had evolved to playing a number from Phantom of the Opera I mean unbelievable it has been unbelievable Improvement and I spent some time with her then I met with Mr bloomstrand and thanked him for one the privilege of teaching his having his three daughters in our district but also his investment in our music programs he is an exceptional a music teacher he just see with voice he's an exceptional talent and
above all that he's an A Kind very high quality human being and so I was able to give him a thank you note and I also met with Dr D for a few moments and I also expressed appreciation for all that she has done under her Direction this last eight and a half years I've seen our finance programs I'll also add that I'm making a recommendation to the board we bring their stipends in alignment with all other head coaches at the high school because the contributions they make so we're doing more than just giving voice to our Fine Arts we support him and I agree with you that's the eighth show I've seen I think it's the ninth show I've seen and it was exceptional and brought me to tears which apparently is not hard
to do anyway but they were they're great kids and they try really hard and we there's we are surrounded our kids are surrounded with quality human beings you cannot find enough good people to be around your kids and so that's the bar that we we have we hold for people we hire to be around our children they have to be good people and we're blessed to have a bunch of really good people around our kids I couldn't agree more with you Michelle and thank you for your support and your your family support and for having kids I wish you had 10 more thank you and if those people didn't go to the play it was exceptional we had girls in three-part harmonies and they were spot on so I know that it is I saw
it three times how many people actually will sit through a play three times in high school because I know about 10 years ago it was like I'm sitting through the play because I feel like I need to support now it's I'm excited I'm going again another night so our kids are amazing and the coaching that they get and the inspiration they get from that is awesome and what I think is also wonderful is how many times does the school bring the tech out and allow them to bow with all the rest I mean that Tech program is becoming an exceptional program and I think we have one of our makeup artists that's here tonight that is exceptional and these kids will have an opportunity or young adults will have an opportunity you'll see they're going
to be they're going to make that next move and they will be able to do big things with their lives because of the programs that we have it's really exceptional I wish I could do my makeup as well as those kids can do makeup just saying just saying one of these days you need to do my makeup okay sounds good last thing Mr Waldo before I wanted to mention also we're getting all those lights are being replaced by the SFP it's about a half million dollar project the state is repairing all of that and we've been waiting and fighting to get the right kind of lighting in there the stage was refurbished we're putting a little more work in that this summer but the lighting will be there too sorry for their Interruption Mr I
just wanted to add I attended the show last Friday night and I agree with everything said it was absolutely exceptional thank you [Music] Kevin Bacon didn't come though no he didn't need him I mean add my two cents I have a friend that loves that type of production and they go to the other High School's Productions they came to me after going to this one and said you know what this is the best the last two years particularly they thought was the best and they said the others are like I'll tolerate this because the kids really need it but this was very entertaining and professionally done and they just had a great time with it so it's it's making waves and they're positive waves so uh anything else Dr Wright you'd like to add just
that um for Bill's benefit the other thing that we've been promoting on the Fab Lab it is the only Fab Lab for a public school district in the state of Arizona the only one and it's the only one that has supported public or private by the University of Arizona and so this idea was brought to me by Kevin Woolridge six years ago he's the Superstar yeah and so Kevin and I went down with Steve galker and I told Steve don't talk let me talk I'm the sales guy and we asked for 125 000 we got it and that was the seed money since then Kevin Woolridge has worked tires tirelessly to secure over half a million dollars of equipment and so we are we are blessed to have Fine Arts stem Athletics and every week
we can provide whatever your child is interested in they have a chance to participate in Blue Ridge and we're sure proud of that it doesn't happen about Megan Lauren Ryan and Courtney and these other folks Dan and Kyla supporting all this efforts that we have top quality administrators too I might add well I was thinking when you were talking about that that not only they're quality people but the the staff the the people that keep the buildings clean the people that drive the buses those people are quality people too or they don't get to work here so it's it's great to have quality all through the system it kind of stops right here with me anyway so the next item is to announce any meetings we have upcoming in May 31st we're going to have
a special board meeting that meeting will be at 5 p.m here hope everybody can make that May 31st here a special board meeting at five o'clock and then I regularly scheduled meeting will be June June 13 at five o'clock at this location so if there's nothing further can I have a motion to adjourn I have a motion in a second all in favor
