LTHS Student Board Meeting Brief | March 2026

001Hey Porters, it's Ryan Gleon here. I'm one of your student board members and I'm here to talk to you about the March 16th board meeting. So, at the board meeting, we started off by recognizing a whole bunch of students. We had Eagle Scouts, finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program, and PRAACT Rising Stars program. There was over 150 students and the cafeteria was packed with parents. It was great to see. After we recognized them, we reconvened in the porter room. James and I gave our report from the advisory council meetings. We talked a little bit about the 8th period day, some field trips that students were taking, and the youth mental health training first aid program. After that, we talked about hiring new staff members. With the coming AP period day, 19 new staff members are going to be hired. With those 19 new staff being hired, we're including students on the panels interviewing them to make sure that student voice is important to those that we hire at the school. Fresh Start program got its budgeting approved. So, that means incoming freshmen can get a chance to make new friends before they even get to high school. We also approved stuff for driver's ed to have driver's ed stuff in school so people don't have to do after school driving behind the wheel. March Madness is also happening at both campuses and in April we've got another board meeting and prom. So stay tuned to hear from James. And as always, go Porters.
