001Hello Porters. This is James Wyatt, your student board member, recapping the February 23rd, 2026 board of education meeting. The board began the meeting by recognizing the boys bowling team and girls cheerleading team for their second place finish at the IHSA state finals this past month. The board also recognized senior Saurin moan for his selection to perform Snider the Spider in the cast of this year's all-state production Newsies. These athletes and musicians embodied the Porter way. Ryan and I gave our report highlighting what we learned from the super intense advisory council such as what our school brand promise and brand experiences are. Then Ryan shared the upcoming teen mental health training that a select group of students in our district will receive. Furthermore, I shared the National Honor Society's most recent community engagement event, parents day

002out, allowing parents to have a few hours off while we watch their kids. We also recognize that it is Black History Month, with Ryan sharing that he appreciates the daily morning announcements with Black History Month trivia. Students are looking forward to their 4-day weekend. The foundation would like to emphasize that all scholarships are open for the seniors to apply for. Check out the list of scholarship opportunities on the LTHS website by logging into your school links account. It is worth taking the time to apply. Also, there are still some prom dresses available from the fashion show. Some developments at LTHS include hiring four new social workers next school year to meet the school's needs of all students. For the incoming class of 2030, graduation requirements have been increased to 24 credits rather than the current

00322 credits, which is a result of the 8 period day. The board also approved the facilities master planning roadmap to begin work on the east campus in the years to come. During the curriculum report, Dr. Christopher shared a new opportunity for students who want to explore health careers by launching a 16week online course in partnership with JJC to gain a better understanding of the jobs available in the healthcare field. Thank you for listening to this board meeting brief. Stay tuned for March's board meeting. And as always, go Porters.
