001[music] Hey Porters, it's Ryan, one of your student board members, and I'm here to talk to you about the January 26 board [music] of education meeting. One of the key highlights at student life here at Lockport is going to be hiring more social workers. Right now, our social workers work at a ratio of 1 to 892 students. The average for most schools around us is about 440 [music] to1. Three of our social workers presented and we heard about their struggles and current conditions. The workload is far too big, so the school is looking at hiring more. [music] This will mean that students will have better access to social workers and more mental health tools at their [music] disposal. Another thing that students should look for is a rise in graduation requirements with [music] the coming
0028th period day. Starting with the class of 2030, students will be required to take three years of [music] science, another half credit of history, and another half credit elective. Almost all students at Lockport already meet these requirements though when they graduate. The LTHs Foundation hosted a prom fashion dress show last Tuesday [music] and the scholarships are also open. 76 scholarship opportunities. Students, I encourage you to fill them out. Last Friday, students also had an e-learning day. That night, the annual veteran celebration took place. [music] LTHs hosted veterans from all ages, even some from World War II, and we were delighted to host such a fantastic night. The board is also looking into a 10-year plan that include renovations of current infrastructure and adding some new infrastructure [music] to the buildings. Thanks for listening to the
