001Hey Porters, it's Ryan with another board recap. Uh today I'll be recapping some of the highlights of the November 17th board meeting. So to start off the meeting, the board recognized several students for their academic achievements. After that, James and I presented issues that were brought up at the uh last superintendent's advisory council meeting. LTHs is looking at updating some parts of East Campus, including the Porter Stadium, the lunchroom, and the bathrooms. We're also figuring out um how an a period day will work because we're going to have that next year. The Porter Stadium needs new bleachers uh and an updated bathroom is currently football game bathrooms are just portaotties. We want to modernize that. Um in the lunchroom, we're looking at adding a student street, an open concept design for the student services department.
002It'll be integrated into a newly designed lunchroom, too. It'll allow for easier access to guidance resources and a better use of the space. The superintendent's advisory council was also concerned with vaping and wants to implement vape detectors in the bathrooms. They saw it as an issue during passing periods. Finally, we are figuring out what is needed to have an 8 period day at CA East Campus for the 2026 2027 school year. We are also highlighting the success of NHS induction, career week, and stepup night. A lot of Porter spent a lot of time and effort and the outcomes were amazing. Some issues that were brought up at the last boarding meeting were also resolved. Student FCA group spoke last month about concerns they had for unequal treatment as a club. Principals worked with the groups
003and the group sponsors and they were able to come to a happy and inclusive solution. This Thanksgiving break, we have the entire week off. There's a student improvement day on Monday that'll look at the impact of kids mental health through the Kids Matter Foundation. Parent teacher conferences will be held on Tuesday next week. The last thing I want to talk to you about is the amazing work Miss Adolf has been doing with the LTHS Foundation. The foundation now offers over 75 scholarships for school students at our school. From a broad range of scholarships to subject specific scholarships, there's scholarship opportunities for everyone. So, be sure to check out the LTHS Foundation. Thanks for listening to the November 17th board meeting recap. Join James next month for the December meeting. And as always, go Porters.
