001[Music] Hello Porters. This is James Wyatt, your student board member, recapping the October 20th, 2025 board of education meeting. The board began the meeting by acknowledging 112 students who received the College Board's 2025 National Recognition Award by excelling on assessments like the PSAT and AP exams and by maintaining strong academic performance in the classroom. Ryan and I gave our report which consisted of discussions in the superintendent advisory council and activities related to student life. Specifically, Ryan shared how students are in favor of an 8 period day next year, and I shared how students want to explore ways to use our outdoor courtyards more efficiently. After that, we transitioned into talking about the exciting elements of homecoming week and sharing photos from the dance. We felt that students this year enjoyed our new DJ and the

002theme, Let's Glow Crazy. During the foundation report, Dr. McBride relayed Mrs. Adolf's message that the Taste of Lockport was a success. In addition, the foundation has received more scholarships from generous community members. All seniors are encouraged to apply when the form opens. During public comment, leaders of Fellowship of Christian Athletes voiced their concerns to the board about the status of their club and if there is a path forward to become an official club. Board President Dr. Shaw announced that the board will extend Dr. McBride's contract one additional year for continuity of leadership with the new board. During the superintendent report, Dr. McBride discussed various elements the board needs to consider if they plan on approving the 8th period day and gave a copy of the annual student academic report to the board. The board will

003meet on Monday to review the report. During voting, the board approved the new 8 period day at East Campus, meaning that next year sophomores through seniors will take one additional class each year. The board will wait to approve new classes for the next school year at the curriculum committee of the whole meeting, Monday, October 27th, 2025. Thank you for listening to this month's board meeting brief and stay tuned for November's board meeting. Go Porters.
