001we like to call this meeting to order the pledge of allegiance he led primary one nation thank you sport appreciate you stepping into the last moment like that to welcome everybody to our coordinating this evening we'd like to excuse brenda um not quite well tonight and also jennifer uh brimhall is participating the uh first item on the agenda is recognition of the vr star awards for january yes absolutely thank you our first recipient works in our special ed as an aide at the junior high does a wonderful job and we wish to thank her for her efforts and then robert corner is the other vr star he is in the maintenance department and serves in magnuson facilities and does a great job for us we're appreciative of his efforts as well these folks will have

002their awards presented by the respective directors and also um rebecca ferguson thank you thank you you know we appreciate all those individuals who shine on a monthly basis i know there are many of them shine year round but i'd like to give recognition to those that are exceptional next item is the consent agenda or does there any item on and consent agenda items 2.1 through 2.9 that you would like to take out and vote on uh independently or just together in the consensus [Music] uh so that would be uh 2.4 2.5 and 2.6 okay any other we'd like to vote on independently if not then we have a motion to accept the consent agenda with the exceptions of 2.4 2.5 and 2.6 that we will discuss individually i have a motion to check a second

003all in favor how about you jennifer all right thank you item 2.4 dr wright would you go over those individuals and explain to us who they are 2.4 is the recommendations are under the higher employees one's a teacher for the high school and science department and i believe she's gonna begin to begin this semester and the other is a teacher in davis department and i don't know she started this it was just an hour next year i think this next year next year we're trying to get ahead of the highway and uh courtney's i'm here to ask about the english teacher and lauren if you have any questions i'm sure you'd be glad to ask or answer your question again just real quick she's going to be taking over for dr green who is chemistry

004and anatomy and physiology having to find this teacher she's going to be picking up those classes and it's a transition from the asu we're able to use an asu teacher to fill me out and she's going to take over for the final quarter and she has her injury in biology and chemistry so she's energetic and got a lot of great ideas that we're going to hope to see in the classroom too so pretty excited about this great any questions or discussion women we have a motion to accept item 2.4 of uh melissa keller and lindsay entrance motion tomorrow i have a second from diana volleyball [Music] approve the employee rest of the nations uh dr right there again would like to go over those personal insights the reasoning for each is listed to the far

005right and ranging from personal to moving but if there's any of concern that we would like i think we all received a copy of their letters sad to see and leave their own to be really missed i think this faculty of the school any questions or comments about the resignations i'll add that sarah romney is and that's where she's choosing to focus her career and so we uh we definitely don't necessarily she's an outstanding teacher and so uh if they're but the others have personal reasons i think sarah bronke said something about she will have more time to spend with her kids absolutely feels like that's the first requirement so any other questions about item 2.5 resignation on rocky steinman's and a lot of that uh robin polisseni or sarah [Music] recommendations for you and

006approve the employee retirement doctor right here again will you explain to us dr d theresa dick is going to retire at the end of next year and then come back and work so she's going to uh she'll go through esi one year and then the next year hired back as employee and so she's just that point makes financial sense to do it that way so we'll welcome her back yeah that's that's great i think i write every letter she said she can't imagine not getting up and coming and teaching her so appreciate her she was doing a good thing any questions about that comments [Music] notification there on your channel happy to see what their plans are that's really good so we have a motion for item 2.6 a motion for margaret have a second

007from diana all in favor say hi bye okay we got that jennifer okay next item then for our consideration is item 3.1 and a recommendation to review and approve the continuation of the family's first corona response or employees related code 19 which provides them to planning of two weeks in addition leave so dr rack two weeks is that what it is two weeks yes yes and well that will be enforced through the end of march some of the qualifying factors that warn us is to put them together and they are as such either they have tested and been advised by a health care professional to go home quarantined or they're providing immediate care for a loved one someone within their immediate household or they're having symptoms of that virus is pretty broad but uh the

008agreement at least among the administrators says we don't want to create an incentive for people to come to work sick and so it'll it'll go through the end of march and then after that it'll fall on leave uh if there was anything in may in april and may then they would have to use their leave in order to realize that it may be changed the federal government come down and say we're going to extend this through september of 2021 in that instance of course is going to comply otherwise it's it's set to expire at the end of lunch yes any questions about that if not then we have a motion to accept out of a 3.1 promotion from chuck of a second from margaret all in favor say i jennifer okay uh next item a

0093.2 recommendation uh no review changes to the lease last year we increased the cost of this lease fairly significantly to account for electricity and inflation and uh there have been no other changes they've actually been an outstanding partner and have done a good job of taking care of the building now i think investing substantially in that facility and we're very pleased to have them as a tenant in that facility what are the consequences of us not using that in this way can the state come in and take take over that building and put a different use to it then well it's they're wide very the biggest thing is that negative from the state because your square foot is not being used and uh it's also like we still have to insure it we still have

010to maintain it so ideally it's much better to have those buildings maintained i mean we you know what happens to naked buildings you saw what happened in the old middle school we revived it and so this building being the oldest on this campus it's good that we have tenants in there yeah so any questions about that not to me except i'm 2.3 i promotion from diane ii from chuck all in favor aye are you with us still jennifer [Music] for his senior year and was planning on staying the full year they ran into some issues that were unable to stay out there full time until the end of may so he was able to complete all those requirements for graduation meeting state so he's requesting to be able to graduate early and be able to

011move back to tucson and then he'll begin preparation for college thank you any questions all right we have a motion to accept the early um retirement or the graduation of this high school student promotion chuck ii all in favor say aye hi thank you uh next time on the agenda is uh superintendent's retirement reporter time over to you thank you uh gratefully the numbers in navajo county are improving our immediate area is even more favorable than the surrounding areas and so as a few weeks between two weeks ago we had a negligible positivity rate meaning well under 10 and it was it was single digits one and two percent in only 20 cases per 100 thousand that was two weeks ago so we have been spared from that and given that we're going to go

012right into on the 22nd of this month we'll have all of our students pre-k through 12. monday through friday attending in person and so we're anxious to get our kids back the best the teachers are and i'm sure the parents are anxious to get the kids back in school too and so we are we're going to get ready to receive ceo students and our teachers have are those that wanted to be uh backstage have received the first and second shot that'll happen this week some are getting that i think tomorrow or the next day and then we'll have had time for those uh vaccinations to take to the group as well and so we're very excited about that the high school at aia has left it up to the to the home team to decide

013if they'll receive visitors or not we decide to do to follow the rule that kids can bring two tickets for each family so it could be their parent or guardian parent and then our kids also get tubes that are still a very small number of people are participating uh some schools are not going to allow uh wave fans to go that's okay but we've decided to go ahead and allow you fans away fans on that basis and to him to continue to participate if you're going to participate and you don't have a choice on that number of things you can do it two ways we're going to be allowing the visiting fans together to persecute any questions there the uh the other conflict we had was that the idea set their track tournament and once

014those dates are said they did not move and sadly was on the date of graduation which was may may 14th of 2021 and so after talking with staff and uh contemplating the best number group the states atlanta we decided may 21st which is the following friday and so the graduation district will be on may 21st 2021 still much earlier than it has been in the past just uh an order of uh calendaring we have president's day this monday this friday we're out and we'll be back on tuesday the 16th of february spring break starts march 8th remember it's gone from two weeks to one week this year to get in more instruction and and by the way the calendar will reflect that as well in the following year and so it enables us to move

015up that graduation rate we're getting back into close to june and if we got into snow days we would be in june and so we've been trying to remember guides the lord last several years we've been trying to move that forward this is an opportunity to do that and i don't have any any additional information unless there are questions from the board that i may answer i haven't used just one and it involves uh [Music] aia requirements for baseball and upcoming i believe at the end of this month and uh for uh track and field events are there anything specific that they're going to imply upon us i haven't seen anything on the springsport sites have you before i know that they have the communication now but it's going to be continuing with the same

016standards that we have with the winner sports right now if there's anything that the restrictions are lighting i'm sure they'll make those adjustments as we get into the next month but right now i think it's the same standard so there will be a regular schedule to don't play baseball right and they're looking at the baseball and softball will end about the same time as that may 14th i think the state game for baseball will be that following monday 16th or something like that so that's another reason why we chose to get the 21st i didn't want to leave softball out of football i assume it's the same yeah are there any good questions all right thank you dr wright this is kind of a short meeting i'm going to have to just kidding so the

017next item on the agenda would be announcements need to announce the next board meeting will be march 16th at 5am here it will still be streamed i'll have a better better system for those that are viewing this live that system will be in place so it'll be easily more easily understood [Music] thank you and thank you jennifer we'll hang out now bye
