Call the meeting to order at 6:34 p.m. And we'll do roll call. >> Reynolds? >> Yes. >> Landers? >> Yes. >> Comidas? Coss? >> Here. >> Trader? >> Here. >> Espinosa? >> Here. >> Rapp? >> Here. >> And the pledge. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Okay. Do we have a motion to approve the regular meeting agenda? >> I make a motion to approve the regular meeting agenda as presented. >> I'll second. >> Rapp? >> Yes. >> Espinosa? >> Yes. >> Trader? >> Yes. >> Coss? >> Yes. >> Landers? >> Yes. >> Reynolds? >> Yes. >> Okay. And I don't see any visitors. >> Nor do we have one. No

emails today. >> Okay. All right. Um moving on to the approval of the consent agenda. >> I'll make a motion to approve the consent agenda including 5.1, disposition of minutes from May 26th. 5.2, payment of bills. 5.3, district treasurer's report. 5.4, in-person activity fund report, cafeteria report, and 5.5, personnel report. >> And just as a note, uh in your papers in front of you and in your email, you also have the updated personnel report. Um we added the retirement of Amy Lindenmeyer for 2028 and then a couple of summer hires that didn't get put in the last personnel. >> Okay. >> I'll second. >> Trader? >> Yes. >> Espinosa? >> Yes. >> Coss? >> Yes. >> Landers? >> Yes. >> Snyder? >> Yes. >> Reynolds? >> Yes. >> Okay. Um informational items and 6.1 FOIA.

>> Yes, evidently it's FOIA season. We had two different FOIAs from uh Data Branch, one from on Apogee and one from CVW. We had a FOIA from Stenson on our RFP process for our summer work. We had a FOIA from Upgrade on our utility bills. >> Like common ones? >> Yep. For sure. >> Okay. And just your report? >> Yeah, so um as I as I had mentioned and you saw in your board packet, um we took a lot of stuff out of it um and kind of streamlined it. And so as you kind of digest and work through uh the work that we took out um that you want put back in, just let us know. Um be more than happy to share whatever. Um but we also don't want to bog you down

with all kinds of things. You know, we had you know, we had a lot of things that were repeated. Things that, you know, might have been one place, but you could also find in the second place. So, just kind of streamlined some of that. So, like I said, something seems out of place, let us know. We'll get you We'll get you anything that you want. >> Well, I read about that and I actually didn't I don't know if anybody else did, but I didn't have time to like compare what was missing per se from this one versus other ones. Um so, it's one of those like what I don't know >> [snorts] >> type of thing. Um but is there anything like specific that you remember that was taken out or like a for instance?

>> Yeah, so so we So, we had the, you know, a list of the credit We had the copies of the credit card bills in there. Well, all of those transactions are also found in the bills. >> Okay. >> Um we had all We we a lot of, I'm going to call it superfluous information, like, you know, how many days off how many days off as an organization do people take in a month and just kind of stuff that, you know, cafeteria reports that were kind of into the weeds. Um, so, just >> But, that stuff is somewhere else, like >> So, the all of the financials can be found in the bills. Um, all of the all of the other um, all of the other things are can be found in other places, but

I don't know what was kind of I don't know if anybody would look at this or why they would and and so, if you >> I mean, I feel like I scrolled through everything and it was just informational. I don't know if it affected my decisions here, per se, but >> Yes. >> It it it was interesting. >> Yeah, there was there was a special ed report and I I remember from right um, right before I got on the board, the reason as I was told by Brent, the reason I think some of those got put in the board packets was because there was people that, you know, questioned like days off and stuff like that, but I don't think we need to know as a board like how many people, you know, how many

days off that like that's part of their contract and that's what they get. Um, and then like we don't also need to know like the workload of the special ed department cuz there is a workload plan in the sense. >> Yeah, and we can also take all of those documents that we'd always put in the board packets and just put them like in board book only if they're in that way. Um, so, whatever um, just, you know, if you have some thoughts on it one way or the other, >> I don't think I got the packet this month. I was looking for it earlier today and I only saw this and I knew it said with the change, so I didn't know if this was the change. >> It was sent it was sent last

Friday. >> Yeah. No, I didn't see it. I don't care. Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Nope. Nope. I mean, I looked at this one and didn't feel like I was missing anything pertinent, so I just figured I'd ask like examples of maybe what kinds of things would be included. >> Yeah, I can I can definitely give you like a compare and in my next update do like a compare and contrast and >> I mean, you don't have to do much extra homework for me. >> No, for sure. But it's it's your board package, right? So, we want to give you as much information as you want or need, but we also don't want to give you 70 pages to scroll through if that's more of a problem than anything else. So, what whatever you want

we're going to get for you. So, I'd be glad to put that together. Sorry, it's Teresa. >> Oh, you're fine. >> Okay, sorry about that. Yeah, so then like I said, I'll I'll do a little update on that >> [clears throat] >> and then any feedback you want to give me just, you know, let us know and we'll take care of it in whatever way you want. Other than that, we had our administrative retreat this week and we were able to game plan a ton of things for next year and so all kinds of things from fundraising to making sure that our professional development schedule is well laid out. It was a very productive and so feeling really good about a lot of things that we're going to be able to implement next year. >>

I'm going to sign here. You ready? >> No, just move right into if there any additional questions, I'll move right into the committees. Um Um Kind of an offshoot of the health insurance committee, we're doing a wellness committee. And so, that's that It kind of talks about the health insurance plan a little bit, but it's really more about, you know, wellness of of our employees. We're going to continue to meet monthly on that. We had a a meeting on that this week. Uh went really well. We're trying to um Now we're having um something monthly sent out of the district office to make people more aware of all the different um assets that go along with their health insurance plan. And then we're also game planning what next year's um additional wellness pieces that we're

going to put in. 2 years ago we put in a biometric screen. This last year we put in a reimbursement on a gym membership. And so, every year we're going to continue to add to that um that wellness plan. And so, um our health insurance broker, Wendy Sandoval, she uh is a part of the those even the wellness committee, even though that's, you know, not strictly health insurance, but she has a world of information when it comes to those things. And so, she's also going to present to the staff at our opening day in August. And uh then then be there in the afternoon to answer questions. So, trying to do everything we can. >> Thanks. She's really good. >> Yes, they do. Answer your questions, Kelly? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Awesome. >> Okay. And

that's it for board reports or committee reports? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Okay. So, we will move on to action items then. Um 7.1, the fiscal year 2026 year-end closeout bills. And if we want to do the July regular bills as well. >> Yeah, so every So, we'll have bills that will come in in the next couple of weeks. And we won't We won't to pay them immediately to make [clears throat] sure that they hit in this fiscal year. And so, every June we have the same motion to allow the district office to get those bills paid. So, it helps um the budgets fall where they're supposed to. And then, um we also put in there internally we don't have a lot for the July meeting. So, the board wanted to authorize the payment of July

bills as well. Um and the board didn't feel a need to meet in July, then you could skip the July meeting and come back in August. So, whatever your pleasure is. >> Thoughts on that? >> Personally, I don't think we need to meet in July. Um I think we we have that many positions to worry about filling, and they can always and we would it would we've done it in the past not meeting in July. I think at least three three times that I've been on the board. Um and um so, we're not we wouldn't be the only district that doesn't meet in July. So, I don't >> I'm fine with it. Um I feel like I wasn't at last year's, but I know the one previous year was very short. >> Yeah, it was

like 7 minutes. >> Yeah, and if you'll recall last year we actually didn't have an August meeting and didn't skip a beat. >> Mhm. >> So. >> Yeah. >> It's not like they're not going to communicate with us. >> So, does anybody want to then make a motion for and we can tie those both in together? >> Okay. >> For 7.1. >> I'll make a motion to approve the payment of fiscal year 2016 year end and close out bills in the July regular bills in that meeting. July. >> Second second. >> Rapp? >> Yes. >> Espinosa? >> Yes. >> Schrader? >> Yes. Cass. >> Yes. >> Landers. >> Yes. Reynolds. >> Yes. >> Okay. And 7.2 is um the amended budget as presented. >> Yeah, so we went through all of that um at the

last meeting um and we talked about how um our our ex- our expenditures turned out to be a little bit higher in this fiscal year because of the way some of our construction bills fell um in July and August of last year. And so but even even in all of that our you know, our predicted deficit this year's a deficit year, next year will be a surplus year. Our predicted deficit was still within a couple hundred thousand dollars of what we predicted. >> Would anyone like to make a motion to approve the amended budget? >> I'll make a motion to approve the amended 2026 budget as presented. >> Thank you. >> I'll second. >> Landers. >> Yes. >> Espinoza. >> Yes. >> Rapp. >> Yes. >> Reynolds. >> Yes. >> Cass. >> Yes. >> Strader.

>> Yes. >> Okay. And then discussion items 8.1 um the joint annual conference we um Brand mentioned that we were um already in the planning phases and it is assuming everyone is going unless otherwise told. >> Correct. And so if something comes up in your plans and you are not going to be able to make it, then just let us know um if anyone comes along, but we'll make we'll make plans for everybody being there. We'll send an administrative team again this year. Um I think that worked out really well and led us to some really good conversations um feedback. And so um yeah, just keep us in the loop. >> Okay. >> And then, county-wide sales tax? >> Yeah, so continuing to have conversations about that as a as a LaSalle County. And just

as a reminder, this is something that's already in place in Lee County. And so, it would be I don't What do we got? 75 kids of ours who are Lee County kids. We already get Lee County um sales tax revenue on those. Um this would be able to this would be to get sales tax revenue on all LaSalle County kids. Would probably be in the neighborhood of another It would probably be in in the neighborhood of $900,000 every year for us. And so, obviously it's something that we're that we're very interested in um as a as a county. The conversation has been that that's not going to be on the ballot until the spring. And so, my guess is in in the fall that we'll really get ramped up. So, I'll be sure to keep

you in the loop with that. And you'll have to at some point in time pass a motion in support of that. >> How many kids do we lose would we lose to Bureau County? >> Just I don't think. >> A handful? >> A couple couple dozen a couple dozen. >> We We had a town meeting with Bureau County on 34. >> Yeah, but LaMoille comes this way quite a bit. >> Yeah, so it's not even to the church. The the church this Yeah, the St. uh Church on 34. Yeah. >> Right at the Lutheran Church. >> It's right on the curve. >> Right. >> Yeah, the curve is exactly what you mean. >> The curve the curve in that way is all is all um LaMoille. And then that and I can't think not that

many. >> Okay. >> I just kind of Yeah. >> I was curious. >> Yeah. >> Just having knowing of who lives out there, there's not that many. >> Okay. Maybe the sun division. >> Okay. Are there any other questions on that? So, you'll just keep us updated on I guess like do you meet so often with the other districts on that? >> Yeah, I think our next meeting is uh maybe the second week of August. >> Okay. >> And so, I would anticipate probably a September board motion on that. >> Okay. Okay. And then, the track um I've kind of updated us on the track and gave us a nice >> I did. And then, and then so, you have a um kind of a nice little easy-to-read summary of kind of what that looks

like. We've been doing a lot of internal conversations. Um and one of the things that happened in 2019, give or take, was there was a single large fund raising for the track. Um I think what we're going to do is we're going to try to have like a smaller annual every year. This is what we're doing, whether it's a you know, a 5K >> that? It wasn't a lot, from what I hear. >> don't >> Like not even that. >> No, I don't I don't think so. >> It wasn't It wasn't really If I remember right, it wasn't >> I don't think so. And And as And again, I wasn't here as I know as I understand the story, actually we had a couple of of students pass away, and then that kind of got

turned into and it all kind of got rolled together. And so, there was um I don't I don't know how much um Yeah, I I just think it's going to be a lot cleaner if we do like something, you know, like every year we do a 5K fun run or something like that. We get sponsors and we, you know, we and we tie a lot of things together. Um and so, I think if we can get something like that started, we can really gain some traction and and make it a nice revenue source. Then also we're talking about having entrance fees for track meets, for teams and adults. I think that can be a nice revenue source. Also, we do have a couple of groups that do use our kind of track facility uh on

a regular basis and to start looking at what those usage fees are. So, I think when you roll that all together together, you can probably get between 12 and $16,000 a year. And if you look at And if you're looking at over the life of what um a track resurfacing is, you're not going to pay completely for it, but you can make a good dent in it. >> Do we have um Another high school did it and I haven't had to look into it because I'm on the board, but do you spend a flat rate, you have unlimited entrance fee into any of the extracurricular activities? >> You mean like like an activity pass? >> Like an activity pass? I don't think we do activity passes, do we? >> We do. I think so. With

the upcoming school year, maybe if we want to start charging right then and there as a Yeah. Yeah, it's a small start. >> We can have some internal conversations about that, for sure. >> Dan, you had mentioned like as an option of like if not like being open to yearly, but that's I don't know if that's necessarily the route we want to take. You were just saying like this is another option if we wanted to extend it by maybe a year or two or three. >> yeah. You're you're going to the less the less traffic you have on it, the longer it's going to last. But at the same point in time, weather is a big The UV rays break down that that polyurethane surface, right? And so, um even if you had nobody on

it, in every 15 years you have to resurface it. Um so, so yeah. And when you look at the amount of wear and tear that uh you know, one of us in our tennis shoes going out and walking five laps compared to a 14-year-old [clears throat] running as violently as they can in the track spikes, the amount that's night and day as far as the wear and tear on the natural track itself. >> So, you're talking about each school that comes here has to pay us to be here. So, assumedly if we went there, it could have been they could offset >> Well, I mean, technically they could, but the thing is is that there are there are very few schools that we interact with that have their own track. >> Got you. >> You

know, I I believe I believe that we're the only conference school that has their own track, that doesn't use the high school's track. >> You are correct. That's elementary level. >> You are correct. And that's actually you That's the only one in this area that has their own track. >> Yeah. So, so that's something I'm not really that worried about because we don't have our own track. >> So, yeah. We were given it. Yeah. From the old high school. Yeah. >> But >> It's it's been a free puppy. >> Yeah. >> Right? There's no such thing as >> Well, and it's not that we can't you know, like I Having been a junior high AD though, I I'm not a fan of charging other teams to come to a track meet that you know, we

went because we're we are making money off the concessions and we're getting people to come and that like if we hosted an invitational where you know, I mean like we had a big Saturday track meet like like I believe the Mendota team goes up to Amboy or there's the Indian Creek one. I'm in favor of hosting a Saturday track that where we charge teams to participate, but I don't think a regular meet That's just my opinion. >> Yeah, well, lots of Like I said, this is just kind of what the the shell of it looks like. Um, just to make sure that everybody's kind of on the same page that we're that we all agree on to, you know, aggressively look at a couple of different revenue streams so that we're not just all of

a sudden every 6 or 7 years eating $100,000. That we've got some money coming in over time and that there's some plan to it. >> Well, thank you for doing this, Tom. >> Yeah, my pleasure. >> Okay, um, that is it on the discussion items. So, we're done? >> Unless anybody has any other questions. >> Anything else before we adjourn? Okay, motion to adjourn? >> Motion to adjourn. >> Okay, second. Grant? >> Yes. >> Espinoza? >> Yes. >> Trader? >> Yes. >> Pass. >> And Flanders? >> Yes. >> Arnold? >> Yes. >> It's 6:56. >> Yep.
