a [Music] n [Music] he [Music] this go is outside oh for the blue one for the blue one to go into I'm calling this Workshop to order at 5:30 on Thursday no Tuesday Yeah Tuesday Tuesday Tuesday can they hear me yeah yeah it's Tuesday it's Tuesday okay I'm calling the the workshop for Bullhead City School Board on Tuesday May 7th 20 24 at 5:30 p.m. we have all sorts of good things that are going to be here tonight but we got to take roll call first president Melinda saski Charlene Diaz here Fred rushon here Barb ziki here Sheila Barnett here and we have the the Olympiad team right the winning team the wieners all right let's hear some stories who wants to go first well I hope they're not terrified because this is this is
a good thing go we're excited to see you guys welcome so how many of you guys are going to the high school next year oh that's sad because then we could that means there's only two of you that are going to stay in okay but that means we've got some holdovers for next year right okay so tell us about this are you are the spokesman were you chosen yes okay he drew the Short Straw today I think we call that volun told yeah we had a really fun time uh for our first day I think I think you're on so uh on our first day we took our vans right and we went to a zoo and it was really fun we saw like a ton of animals right which is expected at a zoo
but they were like cool animals you know like things that we've never seen before yeah like monkeys and they were like swinging everywhere as monkeys do and it was like really fun time and like I think everybody bonded so much more right and did you feed the giraffe did you that was that kind of fun yeah yeah did they still have the dinosaur exhibit wild zoo oh so it's the other Zoo yeah okay still really fun nice okay keep going keep going um but yeah and then went to the hotel really funny great Hotel so you had a good time doing what just you know with everyone like our olymp family as all right was it fun well I'm hoping we hear something about the competition you okay keep going and then you know next
day we went to compete you know has sence is the point and uh really fun uh ASU Arizona State University and set camp and were there so we there 7 um did they feed you pizza no what they give you for lunch um we there was a few choices I think bur Chick-fil-A and me so obviously you took Chick-fil-A right you had Chick-fil-A and so other than Lu you know we competed whole point being there and you know did our events um what events did you guys have Chelsea hi hi CH hi so my EV were Tower bats roller coaster and hold on okay sorry I forgot my last it's all right it's okay A little bit of nerves um Towers was super fun do you have a whole handful of ribbons there oh it's
full ribb yeah whoa congratulations lady yes indeed oh man um but I'm going to be super honest the events were super fun and the competition was also super fun you know in general and you know I got to see like different people who are also also competing sorry and and they were super nice yes I were also nice to them cuz you know good good I miss everyone so what did you when you walked in the building was it huge yeah it h was like really great was it really scary kind of when you walked in first well yeah but I was here last competition oh okay so it wasn't as scary last time all right so wasn't okay well yeah it's a whole City to itself isn't it yeah this is all right wow
so you guys all have how many ribbons did you get together all together I'm sorry how many different competitions were there sorry oh my apologize how many can you explain some of what some of the events were so what is this Tower event what what do you do with that so basically oh Tower is you make a tower with these wooden sticks and glue them together to try to make the strongest Tower except it has to it has to be light and it has to hold a lot of weight yeah made out of B cool so what kind of weight did they put on top of it to see how strong it was um basically so you didn't put it on top at the bottom this contration and you put your Tower like in the
middle and a chain that goes on top of your Tower and it goes down through it and it connects to this bucket and basically there's a so didn't go on top of it it pulled it down okay weigh I'm a huge science nerd so as a doctor I've done a lot of science so I think that would be something I would like to do it's really did you do any chemistry or anything like that or was it mostly like physics where you're building things and I chry it's called buers and as you can tell from the name it has a crimes and they'll like set up uh a big crime scene right like it'll use like Sesame characters because it's and uh you'll have to like discover things so like there'll be a fingerprint station
and you got to match like the fingerprints to W and you get like One Singular for so you kind of get have that knowledge um there was yeah and then you got to see who did it based on the evidence and where gives you like an outer and you got to name as many things like observation like see that so like got to test like what's the pH level when mix you know or uh how much electricity conduct stuff like that like very cool sounds like a competition I'd like to do yeah it sounds like something F so would you recommend this to some other people at Fox Creek absolutely have you been out there promoting it have you been promoting it have you been out there saying you need to go next year yeah
okay because we had just a fun time um you like Lear a lot like about science science and you just like learn about like how to make friendship and stuff oh yeah while you're on the road you can make friends with other scien so you've been texting other scientists have you I want to say t Okay the big uh yeah so we won the uh s Spirit War now be asking what is this such Spirit Award right mhm well we won this this was voted on by the other uh SS Olympiad judges yeah and because we were just high in spirit and we had great uh Sportsman like sportsmanship and you're just like overall awesome sauce people great you know that's almost better than bringing home the the high trophy y yeah you know CU
that says something about you guys would would you all hold your ribbons in front of you because we need a picture because Mr Lance is going to take a picture of you and you can hold up the the thing too yeah that so hold all of your there holy cow it's fantastic oh not in front of your face come on more get your blinking done now I just want to say how proud I am of you guys not only for what you did but for coming and talking to us and not being so nervous that's pretty awesome yes indeed thank you and definitely good being good representatives of Bullhead City's uh junior high thank you fox speak Junior High they did a fantastic job they closed down the zoo they thought that all School were

I I I want to go down and see some [Music] he [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] oh [Music] St [Music] m [Music] e [Music] all [Music] he turned you off cuz we were thank you yes it's now 555 and I'm calling to order the public hearing pursuant to ARS 159 940 C and D 15951 15962 D and 15103 C for the review a proposal of fiscal year 23 for the review of the proposed fiscal year 23 24 24 sorry it's a typo it's a typo it's a typo 2024 expenditure budget h i wondering about that one it's hot yeah okay well we're called the order anyway uh so Madame President and board members um you will see the summary of revision number two of the current year budget and um there are not
a huge number of changes in it um if Cass if you'll scroll down a little bit um yeah that's pretty good thanks uh I'm sure you don't remember what it looked like in December but some things have moved around U because we of course have experienced uh maintenance cost this year that we have not had in the past and um and some of them more than we thought so we needed to move some money over there and so we moved it from other places so uh anyway so those percentages on the right side uh can look a little strange but it has to do with us moving money around to cover the bills that we need to uh pay for this the remainder of this year and for the uh whole year and um uh
and Cass if you scroll back up just a little bit please I would like to note to you that our ADM uh from 22 and 23 and then this year um doesn't show as large a decrease as we thought that it might each of those years so um uh you know our budget is a bit smaller this year than it was last year but not as much as it might have been so the for the ADM the actual ADM uh were down about about 30 in terms of actual kids we're down about 100 kids this year from last year but um that calculates out differently when you're doing ADM and then uh on down in the second page um it shows uh again expenditures by uh by category um summed up just a little differently
what is the state yeah that's what I was just going to ask 171% that's the let's see which one are we looking at State projects that increased by 171% oh State projects okay uh State projects are grants that are funded through the state and if you recall one of the grants that we got this year was called hqu which was a huge Grant for the preschool program and uh so that's that's one of the reasons that that one is so significantly higher um and uh that's that was the biggest one hun Jen the H Quil we last yeah but I'm not sure yes it would be the the grant that's helping us that's paying this year for um EI for in or IE instructional empowerment okay so um so it probably will go back down
um and those you know those fluctuate from year to year depending on what grants are available and which grants were awarded and of course the um uh Federal projects some of that will go down some uh because sr3 will expire in September so um did we get hit with the title one in title one no actually uh our Title One numbers we ended up with additional funding um uh you know not a huge amount but we ended up with some additional funding uh out of that whole uh that whole situation um the the big problem with it is that Jen got the amounts on April 29th is that right next year oh okay well she got the information oh here you have this extra money and you have to have it spent yesterday you know
that kind of thing so um they they sometimes do that to us but no we were not one of the ones negatively affected however there were plenty of districts that were and um and since they were talking about current year budgets you're almost at at the end of the budget year how do you how do you finally I mean how do you just suddenly decide oh we don't we now don't have this amount of money and these things that we have encumbered whether it's salaries or benefits or materials or you know whatever how do you suddenly just say o you know close the door I don't I don't know how they do that um so uh we we sympathized with the plight of those distri because it could have been us too could have I
was I was worried that would yes yeah it was not okay and cass's little clock says that you can unless there are other questions you can uh adjourn the hearing do we have any questions okay do we have any questions from the board no okay's Turn the Page I need a motion to adjourn from the public hearing I make a motion we adjourn to public hearing I second that motion all those in favor I Melinda saski I Charlene Diaz I Fred rushon I BB ziki I Sheila Bernett okay now we get the call to order the the meeting okay um I think I call to order the Reg regular meeting of Bullhead City Board B on Tuesday May 7th 2024 at 6:00 roll call President Melinda sabraski Charlene Diaz here Fred Rushton here orer ziki
here Sheila Barnett here would you guys stand and stay the pledge with me I pled aliance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liy and justice for all citizens present please print your name on the attendance signing sheet at the entrance we are now into call to the public this is a time do we have anybody okay this is the time that the public may speak to the governing board regarding oh that's right we have a recording okay go forward do it oh nobody here all right excuse me for being mistaking things tonight um I need a motion to adopt the agenda I'll make a motion that we adopt the agenda agenda as presented I'll second that motion all
those in favor I Melinda saski I Charlene Diaz I Fred rushon I Barb ziki I Sheila Bernett okay we're into the superintendent report now don't talk too much I won't uh first of all um you'll notice there's no financial report that's because I was work in the budget so it is your financial report um and uh you don't have an get discipline report uh because I was working the budget and didn't get it done so I will get that done and and of course you'll have an update next month um uh I did visit uh I spent the day visiting two of our sites with our IE people I was at Desert Valley and at Diamondback um it was really fun to see the changes even from two months ago uh for those who were
first adopted early in the year and and to see how practices have now become routines and and embedded in their you know in their uh behavior in the classroom uh and it was fun to see some folks who were a little later adopters uh working on uh uh practices in their classroom so it was a very positive experience uh at uh Desert Valley and then at Diamondback um a lot of improvement and changes and I'm I'm very excited about about what I sought diamond back today so uh we're moving we're moving it's a lot of fun um and then we got word yesterday of uh a nice announcement relative to one of our teachers and so I'm going to have Melinda read that and share it with you I'm GNA pass it down to Charlene
to read it be more successful tonight I don't know about that the Bullhead City School District governing board is excited to congratulate Bethany Barton of Desert Valley as a recipient of the $500 asba classroom Grant her dedication to academic Excellence for her students embodies the spirit of the this reputable Grant and we are proud to support her Innovative Pursuits in the classroom the asba classroom grants program serves as a testament to asa's commitment to supporting Educators in their mission to cultivate academic excellence and Foster Student Success by providing teachers with the resources they need to bring their Creative Visions to life asba is investing in the future of Education in Arizona through thoughtful consideration of how their initiatives align with District priorities Educators not only enhance student achievement but also contribute to the overreaching goals
of their governing boards and districts creating a ripple effect of positive impact throughout the educational landscape of the state we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Bethany Barton for her remarkable achievement go if I'm not if I'm not right not if I'm not wrong um there was a picture asba published a picture of her we hadn't given them a picture yet so we're hopeful that we can get one and get it sent to them because we just learned of this late yesterday afternoon so um I'm it was on an asba feet well that would be wonderful yeah so um yeah we would have had it on the agenda and we would have invited Bethany to be here but we didn't know until after 4 o'clock yesterday so giving her a crme too late to get in
on the agenda yeah next month next month uh otherwise if you have questions I'll try to answer them do anybody have any questions no no okay thank you moving on to 3.8 board member updates we should have some updates next M I hope so um because we're going to Fred and I and Barb are going to um Phoenix to Aid this time the Arizona Department of Education are going to give us some Schoolboard training which is kind of nice and then Sheila just joined us so the there's four of us going to um Flagstaff right maybe Charlene will change her mind and go so we could go all together I thought I got assigned to the the um teacher appreciation thing oh that's yeah that's somebody's got to be there somebody's got to do it
I'll be there with you Charlene yeah this coming Friday yeah we're not this Friday um other than that did you guys have any updates no okay no did the ie last month so yeah I seems like it's been a short month from last meeting to this really fast yeah I haven't even been into any schools yet and it's already over I'm in trouble okay moving on 4.1 minute or the consent agenda I need a motion to approve I'll make a motion to approve the consent agenda as presented I'll second that motion all those in favor I Melinda saski I Charlene Diaz I Fred rushon I BB ziki I Sheila Bernett okay um item 6.1 we have no old business item 6.1 we're going to convene into executive session for consideration of student discipline pursuant to
ARS 38 1.03 A2 discussion or consideration of Records exempt from the law of public inspect inspection including the receipt and discussion of information or testimony that is specifically required to be maintained as confidential by the state or federal law the AR ARS 840a 15 841 BD and 8435 84 3 a and FH regarding the suspension or expulsion of pupils do I have a motion to go into executive session I make a motion we go into an executive session I'll second the motion all those in favor I'm Melinda saski I Charlene Diaz I Fred rushon I Barb zeraki I Sheila Bernett okay we are now an executive session [Music] oh [Music] oh [Music] oh [Music] oh [Music] all [Music] all [Music] h [Music] I [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] a for [Music] h [Music]
all [Music] oh [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] h [Music] oh [Music] e [Music] oh [Music] for [Music] all [Music] oh [Music] oh [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] oh [Music] w [Music] for [Music] h [Music] okay I need a motion to re to reconvene regular meeting I'll make a motion that we we reconvene into public session I'll second that all those in favor I Melinda sabraski I Charlene Diaz I Fred Rushton I biki I Sheila Barnett okay item 9.1 the fiscal year 24 budget revision number two Madam president board members yes this is what we discussed during the hearing and uh I would appreciate your approval of the revised uh revised revision number two of the fiscal year 24 budget you don't want to do it again yeah I make a motion
we accept the revised proposal uh proposed budget for 2023 24 I'll second that motion all those in favor I Melinda saski I Charlene Diaz I Fred rushon I Barb zeri I Sheila Bernett item 9.2 recommendations for vision and dental insurance for fiscal year 25 uh Madam president and board members uh the meet and confer committee combined committee uh certified and classified uh had a couple of information sessions on vision and dental insurance including information from two vendors a chyos and Ameritas and uh in reviewing the uh in reviewing the uh information that they received um they recommend and I therefore recommend that we continue our contract with aitos provision and dental insurance for fiscal year 25 and just as a piece of information um we are self-funded for these two insurances so working with the
meritos they do the administrative kinds of things and uh and then we we pay claims and and do those things ourselves directly uh and that part of the reason is to save us some money uh to do it this way because we don't have huge claims in either of these areas I'll make a motion to approve the recommendations for vision and dental insurance for fiscal year 20 25 I second it all those in favor I Melinda saski I Charlene Diaz I Fred rushon I biki I Sheila Bernett item 9.3 intergovernmental agreements with Colorado River Union High School District uh Madam president and board members for a number of years we've had uh intergovernmental agreements with the high school district um at one time I think there were six or seven we're down to three uh
the administrative Services Consortium which really amounts to uh um our shared Warehouse facility and uh the warehouse manager who delivers u mail amongst all of the sites between the among the two districts between the two districts as well as deliveries uh so uh items that are delivered to the high school district mostly come to our warehouse and then get uh shipped out from there um the purchasing Consortium uh this is a this is a really good IGA because it gives us the benefit of um economy of scale uh so for example it's my usual example to you so uh we continue to have and I'm recommending that we continue to have the agreement for Transportation so in any given year we use a lot of tires uh and uh you know for our buses and
all the vehicles uh we get better rates when we are bidding those items or items like that or fuel uh or um uh parts and supplies those kinds of things when we have a a bigger need and so uh having this uh having this agreement allows us to operate still operate as Colorado River schools Consortium for the purposes of purchases so it does save us a lot of money um and then the third one is in fact the Transportation uh Consortium where uh the two districts operate As One Transportation Department uh with one set of uh mechanics um and even though technically they're two separate sets of drivers they're not uh the high school drivers are listed in our payroll as sub drivers ders and therefore you know if we need to use them on
our side we can do that same with our drivers on the high school side and um uh you know sometimes we're we're running right at the number of drivers we have and occasionally we have to cancel routes uh but will and Patricia do everything they can to you know put a driver from the other side on rather than cancel a route if we have to so there are some real advantages in in US continuing this Consortium I recommend approve of all three igas do I have a motion Madam president I make a recommendation and uh rather I'm sorry I make a motion to approve these three intergovernmental agreements with Colorado River Union High School District I'll second that motion all those in favor I molinda saski I Charlene Diaz I Fred Rushton i b ziki
i Sheila Bernett item 9.4 fiscal year 20 three audit report Madame President and board members the audit was conducted at the end of November uh it has taken a long time to get it partly because uh the auditor who's usually in charge of our audits has been very ill and so others were having to to pick up um the work from him um uh I will tell you that in the ex interview and as I see in the report itself uh this is probably the shortest list of little fix it recommendations for an audit as as I've ever seen either working in this position or being on a board for another uh for another uh agency um and that makes us feel good that we're trying to do all the right things and and correct
correct any ears that that we need to I recommend adoption do I have a motion I make a motion we accept the uh audit uh the yeah I'll second the motion all those in favor I Melinda saski I Charlene Diaz I Fred rushon I bar a Sheila Burnett item 9.5 support for the J1 Visa teachers for fiscal year 25 Madam president and board members if you recall a month or so ago you approved us uh working with a company to help us uh entice uh H1B Visa uh applicants that process takes 18 and 12 12 to 24 months depending uh so we're a little out of timeline for getting any of those uh possible folks for this coming school year however the same agency does recruit uh J1 visa and uh it certainly will be
much more helpful for us to consolidate our J1 Visa applications with one agency as opposed to multiple agencies that doesn't mean that we are uh abandoning any of our current J1 Visa holders who have other other sponsors right now uh but in the future we we'd like to work with one company one of the things of which we were not aware when we established that with this company is that some of the things that we've helped our J1 Visa employees with are now part of their package uh but as part of their package they charge the uh J1 V Visa applicant uh the those expenses so one of them is insurance now we offer our own insurance but part of the J1 V process is uh um uh there's a huge a huge blanket insurance
policy for all of those folks or Mo most of those folks and so the cost is a little less but there's also an element of that that we would not ordinarily have for our folks which is if something catastrophic happened to one of those employees and they needed to go uh back to the Philippines or back to whatever country um uh We've recently interviewed folks from Ghana and uh other places around the world but if they needed to go back U they have an insurance policy for that those two insurance policies uh are less than what we pay for our current employees and we'll pay next year for our employees for health and and those things the other thing is that we have been uh transporting the employees meeting them at the airport transporting them
trying to help them find housing uh getting them to needles for Social Security and all of the other things for a period of time we had some of our uh resident Phil teachers who coordinated that um those folks ended up being folks who had to leave a year ago and we had no one to pick that up so we've kind of been doing that all of those services are part of the package that this company offers to the J1 and the H1B uh employees uh but they're asking those folks to pay on the front end for those things um since we've been footing those bills anyway um I'm requesting your approval for us to continue to foot those bills even though we're not doing it directly for example driving to Las Vegas to pick people
up uh but U add this to our contract with these folks that we would pay this port portion of the expenses for the J1 teachers sounds like a good plan to me sounds like yeah sounds like an excellent plan yes I uh with your approval Madame President I would like to make a motion that we adopt these measures to support the J1 Visa teachers and incorporate everything as uh Dr Stewart has laid out for us I'll second that motion all those in favor I Melinda saski I Charlene Diaz I Fred rushon I barbariki I Sheila Barnett item 9.6 top five priorities for asva political agenda for the 2025 legislative session like same as last year yeah yeah almost almost ditto same as last year the special ed is number one I think we we also
need to look into getting paid for anybody that we get after the the 100th day oh stud if we get students after the 100th day is that from the local area schools transferred well they do unlike unlike in the old days where uh everything was hinged on that and then stayed there until at least the 40th Day of School the current budgeting process does start making adjustments the first day of school um and looking at those looking at ADM and those things the first day of school so we're not quite as stuck um uh you know when we start the school year now if you're talking about them making sure that uh if our numbers go up after the 100th day between the 100th day and the when we submit our budget well I can
I can support you on that that's what I'm talking yeah okay you know I think we need to get credit for taking those kids and take and get providing their education um anything else we'd like to see do what were the I don't know if I remember all the all five of those that we gave last year um yeah I don't know that she has I know you were advocating for U uh full funding for sped you were advocating for all day kindergarten and required um was it funding for kindergart full day kindergarten for full day kindergarten and and making kindergarten a required yes uh required program um I don't recall if there was something in there about the uh aggregate expenditure limit or not say there was I'm thinking there was because that still
has not been resolved and um and right now uh it's it's hanging in terms of the budget negotiations that are going on in the legislature relative to next year I don't recall what the other one I think it was the voucher system oh it might have been the voucher system if you don't go to a public school they give them more money than for public school I just don't understand that yes so if I homeschool my kids they're going to get two or $3,000 more than what they pay for students to go to a school that actually spends money I think that might have been it yeah yeah and equalizing the rules playing by the same rules exactly those are all still valid concerns yeah we none of that has been resolved okay any further
discussion okay 9.7 fee rate for for pay for for the foray preschool at Coyote Canyon for fiscal year 25 uh Madam president and board members one of the items that was pointed out to us uh in the audit uh in the fall in November um was that we are currently operating two preschool classrooms uh using M budget and that is not appropriate um and uh I suppose technically and legally I should have either closed them or made them for pay immediately um I didn't feel that was in the best interest of the students or the parents to say to them in December oh by the way starting January 1st you have to pay for this service uh so we are uh we will not have those classrooms for next year we will have one foray
classroom which means that uh and um when you have a a preschool classroom that is not special ed so funded with special ed money or not funded with a grant then it has to operate in its own budget and its own system uh so at this time we know we have uh 10 of our own employees students who are going to be ready for preschool and uh we need a preschool class room for them um and so uh for sure we know we need one for a pay classroom um and then if the numbers warranted we might come back later and ask for a second one but we certainly want uh to have one that is self-sustaining in meeting with uh uh Tammy Alvarez the coordinator of preschool and uh Michelle L Decker who runs
our child care center to coordinate what happens with our students who are in child before and after school and in the preschool program and then also with Kate for um uh managing our numbers uh in our preschool um we determined that we would start we would start with one for pay classroom that means we needed to establish a rate and so we looked at the rates of preschools in the area and uh and compared that and with what we're requesting or what we're using with our child care so I'm recommending that our uh preschool rate be $120 per week uh our 4-day week um uh for next year for the foray classroom and if that was not sufficiently confusing I'll answer any questions you have so we're we're going to charge our employees $120 a
week they will pay um right now and our proposal for next year is that they continue to pay $150 per week for pre for child care but if the student goes to if the student go is going to be in our preschool then 120 of that would go toward the preschool and the remainder would support child care so they're paying 150 but they're also getting extended services for the day okay so this would be the $120 per day for any students above and beyond our employee students who would be in this foray classroom Dr Stewart you said per day you meant per per week I'm sorry thank you for correcting me per week yeah that could be a game changer yeah a very good game changer um yes very big game changer uh Kate was
checking on some uh rates in in other communities and uh I think you am I correct that there was one one preschool that charged $900 on a week a week yeah yeah in Arizona yeah there's some buad City no not in Bullhead City but in Arizona I know several 300 a week yeah I think 30 30 $30 for how many hours that's like how many hours is the the day yeah could be yeah so it's pretty much all day that that is pretty amazing I paid that for my kids yeah 20 years ago so and that includes breakfast and lch they part ofam so and that's enough money to keep it self suain and we're pretty we're pretty sure that's accurate U uh Michelle's been keeping a very close eye on the uh the budget
for the child care center this year um because of course we want it to at least break even and uh you know we're not looking to make money um uh but right now we're right at break even and uh so we're not looking to increase the rates for the child care center and this made sense relative to that you know when we're when we're looking at those kinds of things it made sense that this would uh plus we calculated what it would what it would cost us to operate this classroom and uh so we think $120 a week will'll do it so question the foray yeah foray classroom is that five days a week or no it's four four days a week it's four um yeah it's only four days a week okay okay do
I have a motion to approve I make a motion we approve the uh fee rate for the foray uh preschool at Coyote Canon for $120 a week I'll second that motion all those in favor I Melinda saski I Charlene Diaz I Fred rushon I barbariki I Sheila Barnett item 9.8 eight approval of the list of trust approved hearing officers uh Madam president and board members uh this is to our advantage uh we we obviously have our own hearing officer uh but if she were uh not available or had too many cases for the time period that we needed uh the trust has trained these folks and uh they are available as hearing officers um shortly our uh hearing officer will be added to this list uh she's doing the things that she needs to do
to be to qualify to be on this state approved uh hearing officer list so I recommend that we uh approve this list as available hearing officers if we were to need them since since these he hearing officers are out of area would that be a zoom hearing then or it might or might not be it could be in person in which case we would end up paying travel expenses there is one they prefer that we do them in person but occasionally we have to do a a zoom meeting yeah there is one officer listed there oh well that's yeah Gina covert she works for the high school district okay do I have a motion to approve the trust I see the trust approved hearing officers the list of trust approved hearing officers I'll make a
motion that we approve the list um of alternate trust approved hearing officers uh that as presented I'll second the motion all those in favor I Melinda saski I Charlene Diaz I Fred rushon I Barb ziki I Sheila Bernett item 9.9 authorized stien for special ed education teacher at Fox Creek Junior High Madame President and board members uh we find ourselves again in a situation where we have uh only one person who is in a position to to do IEPs and hold sorry do IEPs and hold uh hold um meetings with parents uh for that site and and so that's heavy paper load on top of this person doing her own uh students and teaching her classes so uh I'm uh asking for authorization to pay a stien for this person for the additional paperwork from
for the other two classrooms so this would be just for just for the rest of this year school year yes just for the remainder of this year Madame President I make a motion that we accept this proposal and approve the stien for Miss Martin for the rest of this school year I second it all those in favor favor I Melinda saski I Charlene Diaz I Fred rushon I Barb ziki I Shaya Bernett um 10.1 future topics do we have anything that we'd like to have our superintendent research or take the staff or not that I could think of that's present time okay maybe an update on the the den project oh yeah that would be nice I can do that for the next meeting I drive by it every once in a while yes yes
and we will have Juno has a lot of a lot of items you know to wrap up the year and to get ready to start the new year so uh there'll be quite a list of informational stuff and uh and a draft budget for the new year although it certainly will be a draft because the legislature does not seem to be any we're close to resolving budget issues so um we'll be shooting in the dark again for uh an actual budget for July but we'll do what we need to do of course uh but in June we you can also expect uh update reports on the Strategic plan and the grading uh grading committee work so we'll have a number of items for for June I was going to say the grades would have been
something else okay um upcoming board events you guys all have it on your calendar to go to the eighth grade promotion right yes does it start at 8:30 or or we need to be there by 83 9:00 I thought it started at 9 it does says 9:00 it does yeah oh I'm I'm the dyslexic I was looking at the wrong do that so got it okay okay anything on there that the principles would like us to be there for don't may may well we've got somebody covering appreciation lunch by the way who's doing lunch for teachers you de Mexican wasn't it can't remember yeah I remember all right um so our next meeting is June 13th how come it's June 12th on this piece of paper here should should be Jun okay should be the
